Welcome to the Caravnserai. A place to rest and relax in safety while you discuss the events of the day. So sit back, relax, and enjoy. Try the dates, they're delicious!

Welcome weary travelers. Why don't you settle down and tell me a little about yourself while I serve refreshments to help slake your thirst and my staff removes the dust and sand from your garments.
Please take this opportunity to describe your characters to each other and work out any other details you wish to discuss as well as finalize any last minute purchases. You will each be given a horse or camel of your choice as well as a riding kit for said animal. If you already purchased a pack animal you may upgrade it to be war-trained or refund it and use the cash for additional purchases.

I will post the beginning of the game on Monday, so please take the weekend to finalize your characters, discuss any strategies, or ask me any questions you may have.

Male Half-elf Wizard 1 (Conjuration)

Joining the circle of people in the caravan is a slim man decked out in thin robes, he carries a Chelaxian style cane. Though he speaks with a Kelish accent, his only slightly tanned skin and tapered ears show the elven blood that runs through his veins. Adorning his head is is a simple turban, wrapped in a way to provide protection from the sun with a thin strip hanging down which can be easily wrapped around the mouth and nose to protect from the sands and dust that whip across the land. Taking a seat he politely aknowledges the man as he, with the wave of his hand, invokes a cantrip to remove the sand form his garments. "May water always be plentiful. Thank you for allowing me to join your caravan."

Thanks for having me come on board. You might want to link this thread to the recruitment tread for those you have accepted to easily find it.

Thanks, Mike for running this.

A tall, armored man approaches the waiting knot of camels and horses. A pair of well worn scimitars, one strapped to each hip, jingle slightly as he moves. Approaching the caravan's leader he bows slightly as he says "Master Garavel, I am Nasir ibn Al'Said of the temple of Sarenrae. I believe you were expecting me? Accepting the profered drink his brown eyes slowly scan the surrounding crowd as if searching for something, or someone.

Erich/Beatrix:

I've had an idea and wanted to run it by you. Since we are both worshippers of Sarenrae and affiliated with the local temple I thought we could be a team sent by them to clean out the temple and monastery, with my character sort of being a bodyguard/muscle escort for your character. Tell me what you think.

Male Human (Kelishite) Ranger 1

Another man approached the caravan, his dark skin clearly bronzed by years in the sun and hardened by the harsh winds of the desert. Though his flowing robe danced in the wind, anyone looking closely enough could tell that he also wore hard armor underneath it. A greatsword rode on his back next to a quiver of several javelins. A turban mostly hid his straight black hair and he had a short beard and moustache. He was clearly in excellent shape, though he did bear some scars here and there. The most visible scar is a white line on right temple, pointing from his right ear to the top of his forehead.

"Good day," he said to the gathered throng, "Is this the caravan to Kelmerane? I am Mujahid Al-Asad. I wish to join you, if I may."

And may I also add my thanks to the GM for accepting me into his game. :)

Hey GM, I'm thinking of adding the Sacred Servant archetype to my character if thats OK with you?

Nasir, that's fine.

Everyone is welcome. Now let's have a good time.

Female Aasimar Cleric 1

On a large boulder near where the caravan was gathering for its expedition into the highlands, a human woman sits quietly with an open book in her lap, gripping a quill pen in her right hand which she draws across the surface of one of the pages with slow, deliberate strokes. Beneath the tan-coloured hood of her cloak, one can see that her facial features and light complexion mark her as not being native to Katapesh. She wears a white, loose-fitting tunic and skirt beneath a sturdy leather vest, and a silver pendant in the shape of a winged ankh hangs from her neck, occasionally gleaming in the light of the morning sun. Noticing Nasir approach, she looks up and offers a serene smile in greeting.

Thanks a bunch for accepting me into the group, MPL!

For Nasir:
Beatrix has been travelling, so she isn't technically affiliated with one temple in particular, but it's quite likely she could have met your character during a stay at your temple and agreed to travel with you to the ruined monastery. So yes, I would be open to such an arrangement.

Male Half-elf Wizard 1 (Conjuration)

Listening to the other arrivals, Badi waits for them to introduce themselves before saying, "It is a pleasure to meet you all. I am Badi Al'Mukhabat Nabih Ka'im of Katapesh."

As Nasir's eyes alight upon the young woman he begins to smile. Approaching the woman he bows low "Lady Beatrix, I presume? I am Nasir ibn Al'Said. The temple has sent me to accompany you on this journey."
As Mujahid approaches the pair, Nasir steps in front of the woman somewhat protectively. After the introduction, Nasir nods his head at Mujahid and Badi "I am Nasir ibn Al'Said, from the temple of Sarenrae."

Coming upon the Caravanserai is a tall man in the face concealing mask of a Packmaster Guard. In this man's hand is held a chain that leads to the collared neck of a young girl, whom he leads towards the Caravanserai at a quick pace. Seemingly not paying any attention to his surroundings, the Guardsman walks straight up to the leader of the caravan heading towards Kelmarane and hands off a small set of papers bound in a leather strap. Unclipping the chain from the girls throat he nods brusquely and sets off back towards Katapesh. The caravan master gives the girl one look and nods towards where the rest of the group is currently gathered. Getting the hint, this young girl quickly steps away from the caravan master with a bow and rushes off towards the group.

As she gets closer to the group, her features become easier to make out though she hardly looks like the adventuring type. Her skin is pale despite being an obvious Keleshite, with the hints of her people's usual dark tans hiding under her unnatural coloration. Her eyes are slightly sunken into her face and her dark black hair hangs down in bangs around her face. Barely looking over fifteen winters old, she wears a simple skirt and midriff baring shirt of white cotton. Though she tries to hide it with her long hair, the gleam of a collar is still easily seen around her neck, indicating her status quickly with whoever she meets.

On her back is a small pack that seems to hold the few possessions she has been allowed to keep. Included among them is a flute she pulls out once she is among the group she was told to join. Without saying a word, she sits down and crosses her legs together, bending her body with a dancers grace and sets the flute on her lap, pulling out a cleaning rag and beginning to gently thread it through the flute.

Female Aasimar Cleric 1

"Yea, I am Beatrix," the blonde woman replies to Nasir, pausing her writing and carefully setting the book aside. She stands to curtsy toward the men. "'Tis an honour to make your acquaintances."

Male Human (Kelishite) Ranger 1

"A pleasure to meet you all as well." Mujahid replied, bowing to Badi, Nasir, and Beatrix in turn. Then he turned to the slave. "And who might you be?" he asked before adding to her, "I am Mujahid."

As the newcomer joins the others by the camels the caravan master, Garavel, shouts to everyone. "All right, Mount up!" and even though the sun has barely risen above the horizon, he adds "We have wasted enough daylight. Mistress Almah awaits."

Thus begins our epic journey.

Male Human (Kelishite) Ranger 1

Nothing appears to be in the game thread yet. Should we wait for a scene start post? Or should we just start posting there in character?

Sorry, things got a little crazy/busy at work and I am just now writing the introduction. Things should be ready in a little bit.

sirgrail has brought up something that I hadn't considered when posting my character creation guidlines, to use Hero points or not.
So I'll leave it up to the majority of you to decide. Yes or no?
Either way we're going run this scenario without them and then we can use them later.

Female Aasimar Cleric 1

I've never used hero points, so I have no preference.

I've never used them before either, but it's an interesting concept.

Male Human (Kelishite) Ranger 1

Personally, I like them. I vote Yes.

Hello, just checking in to see if this PBP is going to continue.

Female Aasimar Cleric 1

I'm wondering that as well. It's been over a week since the last time MPL posted.

Sorry all,
I know it's been a while but things have gotten rather...interesting at work lately. In case you're wondering I work for American Airlines and have for almost 27 years now. Their bankruptcy filing, while not unexpected, has thrown a lot of people for a loop.
A group of employees have asked me to run with them for union office and I have accepted. That being said though I am going to be busy between work and travelling to the other stations that comprise our local between now and the local election in March.
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to give this game the attention that you deserve, So I'm going to post a call for a new GM to take this over and I hope that you all can get someone who can really devote the time and effort I'm no longer capable of.
Thank you for your patience,
MPL8665

Hi All. It looks like I'm going to be stepping to take over this game for MPL. Slightly ironic as I actually applied to be a player for this game originally. :-)

So I need to get caught up to speed on things and I want to see if everyone is still with us. Please post here just so I know who's still around. We'll just go from there.

OK, I sent an email to the webmaster turning this game over to Jonasty. Good luck and good hunting, all

Welcome DM Jonasty, Nasir ibn Al'Said is ready and waiting.

Good luck with your election GM MPL. Marossa is still here.

Male Human (Kelishite) Ranger 1

Good luck, MPL!

And welcome to our new GM!

Mujahid is still here and ready to play.

Alrighty well 3 out of 4 is good enough for me to feel confident in this. I have all of the books and I just need to get myself caught up with what you guys have done and make sure I'm prepped for the next stuff.

As far as my posting schedule and expectations. I post pretty heavily Mon-Fri, multiple posts a day, etc. Now I of course don't expect this from people, the standard 1 post per day on the weekdays is what I'm looking for. The flip side to this for me is that on the weekends I tend to be pretty scarce with real life stuff.

Other than that, I'm excited to pick this up for you guys and I hope we all have fun. Keep an eye on the boards over the coming days. I hope to dive right in soon but I'll have it restarted by Monday at the latest.

We're still missing two players, Badi and Beatrix. Hopefully they'll chime in soon.

Female Aasimar Cleric 1

I'm here still. Fare well and good luck with your (other!) campaign, MPL.

Male Half-elf Wizard 1 (Conjuration)

Hey all, sorry for not chiming in sooner. In the middle of finals and paper writing. On top of that, I lost the feed for this game so even when I had tiem to post, I couldn't find the game. Badi is here now though and rearing to go.

The game is back up and running, so let's see where it goes. Obviously there could be a stumble here and there, plus I'm still waiting to have full ownership of the game switched to me. But for now, we're full steam ahead.

Liberty's Edge

Just wanted to drop on by and let everybody know that I am pretty much indisposed for the holidays. I barely found enough time to make this post with all the preparation I have been doing. But I will be back after the holidays if anyone else is still here and willing to continue this PBP.

Pretty much been swamped with holiday stuff myself and this is my second pbp game to run. All of that has led to a meager post rate which I apologize for. Hope to have an update posted soon and we'll go from there if people are still on board.

Male Human (Kelishite) Ranger 1

And I as well. My apologies for disappearing for the past week. I have found that my computer time has dropped to almost nothing lately, and I expect it to stay like this for the next couple weeks. I am certainly still interested in playing, so if you don't mind running me as an NPC for a while, I'll be back when I can.

Male Half-elf Wizard 1 (Conjuration)

I am much in the same boat as well. I feel that that is normal around this time of the year. I am around and ready to go once the holidays are through. By the way, Merry Christmas Eve from the US West Coast!

Patient is my middle name ;)

Hey guys. At this point I think I'm going to pull the plug on this. Between my primary game and real life stuff I just don't have the time to run this for you guys. I'm guessing some/all of you saw this coming and I'm sorry to disappoint. Good luck with your games here on the forums.

Hey guys I'm hoping to be your new DM. I saw Nasir's call for a new DM and figured I'd try and run this for you guys.

I've ran LoF before and ironically enough had Kiradia as a player so feel free to ask her about my skills or lack there of lol. If you want you see my style you can check out the campaigns in my profile. I'm currently running 3 games here and playing in 2 others.

For right now I just want everyone to post if they're still around and up for playing. I'm going to give everyone until Monday to do this so I can start recruiting new players then and get this under way.

Please note: I don't have internet at the house right now so I'm going to be limited in posting. I'm at the mercy of the library which only lets me on 2 hours/day. In the spoiler below is my availability and of course this is subject to change with weather and other things but I'll do my best to keep you in the loop when I can.

DM's availability:

Monday: 9-11:30 AM
Tuesday: 9-11:30 AM
Wednesday: 11 AM-1:30 PM
Thursday: 9-11:30 AM
Friday: 9-11:30 AM

Thanks for stepping up, Mathpro and welcome. But could you tell me what timezone you're in? There's a big diference between 9-11:30 GMT and say CST (my timezone).
Thanks

DM Mathpro, just make sure you send an email to get ownership of this game put in your name.

I'm also in CST...sorry should have noted that in my last post.

Depending on how many sound in here I might restart a different thread instead of getting things transfered over. Its also based on how my players feel. You guys really haven't made it that far in so restarting wouldn't be that big of a pain.

So far we have 1 person still around...not a good sign...though with it being the weekend and weekends usually being dead around here I think I'm going to extend the check in deadline until Wednesday if what ever players are still around don't mind waiting.
