And a sphere of black light and violet electric arcs exudes from her as she channels negative energy into the area... but she does exclude as many of her friends as possible if they are in the area...

She is completely without fear.. or apparent care for her person...
Erizi the Landless
Erizi is sulking a bit, as the reality that there was nothing to fight in the church soaked in, then the monstrosity appears...Erizi is annoyed as well.

Round 1
The peryton comes galloping out. A menagerie of bestial features combine to form this vicious creature. From the body and forelegs of a powerful stag issue sharpened hooves, powerful black wings, and the taloned haunches of a gigantic bird of prey. Its head combines the features of deer and wolf, a set of sharp horns arching over bloodstained jaws. Most unnerving is its shadow, though, which spills forth in the shape of a human figure.
As this monstrosity charges out, Sonya is first to react. Chanting arcanely, she touches Silena's chain which bursts into flame, then she backs away to give the others space to fight.
The peryton is then upon them, lowering its head to gore Silena, undeterred by the flaming chain or the sparking dark lightning gathering around her form.
Peryton's attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16, damage 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1) + 3 = 7
Jengren flips his sleeves back and raises both hands, releasing a coruscating torrent of blinding, mind-twisting rainbow colours.
Peryton's save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Silena releases the crackling black and purple forces of negative energy at the peryton.
Peryton's save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Erizi seems to hesitate for a moment, then charges forward into the melee. his first blow narrowly missing the peryton.
OK, folks, next round's actions and rolls, please.
Silena Dulare
Silena smiles as she narrowly side steps the charging Peryton's gore attempts and she steps to provide a flank bonus for both her and Erizi.
Then goes into her spinning dance of spiked-chained harm...
Move or 5'ft step: 'As needed to provide flank... Silena does not care if she provokes an AoO from her movement'
Standard Action: Attack with Sun Metal enchanted Spiked Chain 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 2 = 14
Cold Iron-Spiked Chain Damage: 2d4 + 3 + 1d4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 3 + (1) = 7{fire}
Silena laughs cruelly, even at her near miss with her spiked chain!
Erizi the Landless
Ashamed of his first over-excited blow, Erizi positions himself as he was taught for team fighting, and again attempts to lower the boom on this unfortunate freak of nature.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 Earthbreaker attack (flanking, Rage, Power attack.)
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 = 12 Pounding time
Of course...better hitting, and minimum damage. Wish I had a bennie to spend :-)
Sonya Amir
Sonya watches her companions smiling as Selina gracefully dodges the creatures assault. Sonya rolls through the spells in her mind hesitating to waste a resource that could be of more use later. She remains content to watch her allies slay this creature, hoping they can do so quickly.

Round 2
Sonya stays well clear, watching the combat unfold. The peryton, clearly annoyed at missing with its first charge, strikes at Silena again with its tusks.
Peryton's attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18, damage 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4) + 3 = 11
Jengren steps back raising his hands, releasing two effulgent balls of eye-searing light which strike the peryton.
[ooc: Dearly beloved suggested that with your typo, perhaps your belly enlarged to engulf it... :)[/ooc]
Silena moves smoothly, making space for Erizi, but giving the opportunity for the peryton to have another go at her (which it does, of course).
Peryton's AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27, damage 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 = 8
Her chain, shedding a trail of flame behind it as it swirls, narrowly misses the beast... and then Erizi steps in with a mightly blow that crashes down on the creature's flank, staggering it somewhat...
And it's on to Round 3 if you please...
Silena Dulare
Silena again twirls away from the deman stags horns as it tries to gore her again. But when she moves to provide Erizi with a tactical flank the beast slammed Silena in the gut surly impaling her upon its horns... renting her blackened spiked Banded armor... tearing one of the banded slats of armor away with the solidness of the hit...
But.. there is No blood.. and the patch of dark flesh beneath is not marred with any blemish... it seems it takes a silvery weapon to pierce her ...supernaturally cursed flesh...
Silena chuckles, looking the Peryton deep in its eyes, a soft predator cat's growl rumbles deep in her breast as she speaks,"heh.. you see? I'm a monster too!"
Silena again spins twirling her flaming spiked chain in a wickedly barbed arc at the demon-stagg...
Standard Action: 'Attack w/Sun-Metal Cold Iron Spiked-Chain' - Flank 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17
Damage : 'sun-metal, cold-Iron Spiked-Chain' 2d4 + 3 + 1d4 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 + (4) = 12{fire}
Erizi the Landless
Erizi cringes at the solid hit on Silena, then cringes even more when she does not appear to be injured. "What are you"? He breathes to himself.
"Get ready beast". "I'm just warming up".
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 Earthbreaker (Flanking, Rage, Power Attack)
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 5) + 10 = 18 Earthbreaker (Rage, Power Attack)
Then grunts as his Earthbreaker encounters nothing but the ground.
The faithful companions will never accept me if I keep fighting like this. Must have been distracted by...well whatever she is.
Sonya Amir
Sonya stays back cautiously watching the battlefield for anything amis.
Sonya takes the total defense Action and remains out of combat.
If Selina was struck by a critical hit, She will regain 5 hp at the start of my turn and I'll change my next rounds post to reflect this.

Round 3
Sonya stays back, casting an anxious eye over Silena...
The peryton, scenting blood, attacks Silena yet again. (As it happens, it is their habit to fixate on one opponent, even if facing a whole group.)
Peryton's attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26, damage 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 = 8
Jengren raises his arms again. Lightning crackles but goes wide of the peryton.
Silena twirls her chain and this time it makes contact! The peryton hisses in pain.
Erizi strikes the ground, just where the peryton was standing a moment before...
And it's on to the next round, folks...
Silena Dulare
Silena is struck again the horns biting deep again he bright red blood spattering the dust as her armor is pierced.
Silena gasps an intake of air .. but does not cry out as she holds her ground turning with the blow to spin in the opposite direction lashing out with her flaming spiked chain in answer!
Attack: w/sun metal cold iron spiked chain 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9flank
Damage: w/sun metal cold iron spiked chain 2d4 + 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + (3) + 3 = 11
But obviously the pain of her injuries is having its effect as her swing goes wide and the demon-stag ducks the spiked chain with little effort.
[OOC: For your knowledge Sonya.. Silena has now taken a total of 18 points of damage. She has only 10 hit points left.]
Sonya Amir
Selena, at the top of round 3 you would have healed 5 hp leaving your only 13 before this post.
Sonya feels another tug at her life link as Selina's wounds knit themselves closed. A warm protective feeling washing over her calming any fear of death she might be suffering. Sonya grunts lightly trying her best to hide the fact that Selina's closing wounds are opening on her own flesh. Sonya flicks her wand to her hand and cautiously begins to move towards Selina staying well clear of the beast, pressing her wand to herself as she moves closer to Selina.
Round 4, Selina heals 5 hp from life link.
Move 20' towards Selina
Cure Light Wounds Wand 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6(additional +1 from faithful feedback trait)
Erizi the Landless
Seeing the Dark One's life blood flow seems to enrage Erizi even more. "By the gods she is mortal". "She can bleed and die".
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30 Earthbreaker (Flanked, Raging, Power Attack)
2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 = 17 Pounding Damage (Raging, Power Attack)
And this seems to be the inspiration he needed, as he makes solid contact with the creature from behind.
"Hey"! "Pick on someone your own size".

Round 4
Sonya moves towards the whirling Silena.
The peryton, scenting the blood, strikes again.
Peryton's attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27, damage 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 3 = 8
Jengren raises his arms, the sleeves of his robe falling away and unleashes another sizzling bolt of lighting that hits the peryton. Its very fur sizzles as it staggers...
Silena's chain whirls but the peryton's lurch takes it out of range.
And Erizi steps in with a mightly blow that smashes the beast into the ground. It lies shattered, unmoving, its blood soaking into the earth.
Well done, everyone!
Silena Dulare
Silena is struck again hard! Blood running down her blackened armor. She groans in pain ... but does not fall!
She tries to maintain her steely dignity as she clumsily wraps her spiked chain about her now bloody flanks and hips but a telling note is there is no graceful pirouette this time! She draws the Gnoll Telwar-Flachion slung across her back and with two sloppy chops beheads the Peryton!
She turns as if perhaps feeling light head and steps away from the creature... dragging the tip of her Falchion on the ground obviously trying to stay on her feet but stumbles to lean against the mill house door post... her breathing coming in deep painful gasps.
"Let's..{gasp}.. let's search the h...{wheeze} mill - h-house for any...{gasp} treasure!"
She will turn her gaze the parties way, "I'll be..f-fine.. just.. give {gasp}.. me a ...minute!"
Sonya Amir
Of course, Jenren. Sarenrae's blessing already works it's grace through her. As Sonya speaks and waits, Selina's wounds close themselves. Sonya's body trembling slightly as the pain racks her, but subtle presses her wand to herself keeping any true harm from befalling her.
Round 4, Selina will heal 5 more from life link. Sonya will cure light wounds wand herself. 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 = 10 Round 5 Selina will heal 5 more. Round 6 Selina will heal to 25 life link does not heal unless you are down more than 5. Sonya will heal herself during Round 6. 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
Jengren Dsustrun
Cracking wise, "The sword is magical which would only increase the possibility that I'd injure myself with it." He brushes off the mudcaked ring then uses a bit of water to clean it well. "Hmmm, this has some limited usefulness when jumping is in order." He grins, "It could really help someone heavy on their feet in a situational context."
Erizi the Landless
As the rage leaves Erizi's body, he takes a moment to rest against a nearby wall, letting his earthbreaker rest on the earth, and wiping the sweat from his brow with a stained rag. "Give me a minute girl". "I'm not as young as I once was, and I've never fought one of those things". "Then we'll see what treasures await".
As the man lurches back to his feet, he notices the wounds closing on Silena's body. He frowns and takes a step back. "What type of creature are you"? "I saw you take wounds and bleed, but now your wounds are closing and healing". "Are you some type of demon"? Erizi clenches his earthbreaker bringing it once again into position to attack.
Silena Dulare
Silena's breathing becomes more regular as her wounds begin to close on their own. She turns leaning her back against a wall her eyes wide with wonder at the feel of SARENRAE'S healing power flowing into her. Her gaze resting on Sonya her expression is one of shock and pained.
Silena's eyes lock with Sonya's and slow her expression softens to one of tender affection as the last of her wounds mostly heals. She smiles and steps over to Sonya... and speak to her softly...
"No one has... ever... taken wounds on .. MY behalf! T-thank you... sweet Sonya... Thank you Sarenrae.."
Silena enfolds Sonya in her arms to give her a tender sisterly hug of true gratitude... and lightly brushes her lips with Sonya's in a very brief kiss.
Releasing her she smiles again and turns to enter the Peryton's lair...
Passing Erizi she pats him on the shoulder, "You have a stalwart and strong arm Erizi.. I'm glad your with us!"
Once inside she turns up her nose to the stench.. but walks over to Jengren to look at his discovery.
"Hmmm.. a magical sword eh? I have a magical blade myself... perhaps Erizi should carry it.. just in case we encounter something that needs magic to be effectively hurt?"
She turns to regard the "Landless" warrior, "... or if you prefer not.. I'll carry it?"
Regarding the Ring she ponders a little uncertain, "As for the Ring of Jumping... jumping is a matter of physical strength... something Erizi has little problem with. I'm not as strong as he... but I'm stronger than either you or Sonya.. so one of you, I think, should wear it?"
Jengren Dsustrun
Jengren flips the ring over to Sonya, "This'll look good on your finger." He turns to the others, "Ready to press on? Where to next?"
DM can we have the map put up again?
Sonya if you decide not to use the ring, I'll take it then.
Silena Dulare
What number was the Ruined Temple of Sarenrae?
Silena unfold a sketch of the city from a scroll tube...
"Here is the city lay out..."
B1 - Slave Market
B2 - Gatehouse - there's a warthog kept there.
B3 - Inn, no longer in use alas!
B4 - Stables
B5 - Wharfmaster Manor - rather nice and surprisingly intact 3-story house
B6 - Mill: Peryton Lair <KILLED>
B7 - Tannery: Umdrella's Home
B8 - Trade Alliance Guildhall that was.
B9 - Watch Gatehouse - there's a gnoll who keeps a pack of hyenas living there now.
B10 - A palace - in olden days it's said that it was kept in instant readiness against a Pactmaster coming a-visiting.
B11 - the Battle Market.
"I'd say let's cross back over the river and go systematically... sowing trouble where possible. The slave Market {B1} is the next closet building of note..."
Sonya Amir
Sonya returns the hug enjoying the tender warmth. "The Dawnflower answers the prayers of the faithful. You yourself would make a fine cleric, you wield her fire well." Sonya gasps out at the brief kiss, not protesting but certainly surprised.
Sonya looks to Erizi to ensure he does not have use for the ring as she feels she will gain little use from it. "Erizi would you like the ring?" If he refuses she will take it and place it on her charred finger hiding it under her silken gloves.
"A systematic search works well for me. We need to find the key to that seal."
Megan, would I have any idea 1. why such a seal would be used? 2. Where or who would keep the seal? 3. Who the high priest was in this temple, if he is still alive, if his remains were in the temple when we searched it?

Here's the map again.
The Sarenrae temple is B12 and the graveyard B13. You have been to the Slave Market, that's where you killed a snake for Umdrella.
Sonya, that sort of seal is used to keep demons in. Perhaps the Lady Almah knows more, seeing as the Pactmaster Guard placed it and she was commissioned by the Pactmasters to liberate Kelmarane...? The last elder priest here was called Halruun. You have not seen his tomb, but you did fight something that appeared to be wearing clerical robes in the graveyard.
Silena Dulare
Sounds good to me...
Silena points out on her sketched map...
"We have cleaned out the Temple of Sarenrae, the attached graveyard, the Tannery which is Umdrella, the slave market with the large snake and just now the Mill with the Peryton..."
B1 - Slave Market: Large Snake Lair <KILLED>
B2 - Gatehouse - there's a warthog kept there.
B3 - Inn, no longer in use alas!
B4 - Stables

B11 - the Battle Market.
B12 - Ruined Temple to SARENRAE: Hecuva Lair <KILLED>
B13 - Graveyard {searched - Laid Hecuva to rest}
"I'd say cross the river and start with the Warfmasters Manor and work our way down the street~ the Stables, the Inn, and then the Gate house.. so that anyone nearby has already been handled when we hit the gatehouse. Then we start over.. hit the second Gate house on the river's edge then investigate the Guild Alliance Trade Hall and lastly... the palace."
"Just try to remember.. our task here is to scout and sabotage any forces that Kardswann might bring to bear when the brunt of Lady Almah's forces come in force to drive out the usurpers..! We don't need to kill everything here.. we need intel more than anything else... but taking the presented opportunity to huert their readiness should not be missed if the risk can be managed! We DO NOT want to be discovered!"
Erizi the Landless
"I will carry that blade with pride". "It is bigger than my old one". With that Erizi takes his shortsword and throws it into some bushes. "And very sharp"
Erizi is leveled
Silena Dulare
Silena smiles and calmly goes to retrieve the shortsword, Chidingly she comments, "... I have learned, a serviceable weapon is not one to disrespect or be abandoned at a whim."
She takes the shortsword in its sheath and places it in a saddlebag on 'Nightscream's', riding gear.
Silena looks over at Erizi and smiles, "You know Erizi.. I see your wearing studded leather? We do have a suit of magical Chain Shirt... if your interested that is... it would be slightly more protective for you to wear it instead. Not much use to me.. I'm a heavy armor warrior myself."
Silena's Leveled
Jengren Dsustrun
"To the wharfmaster's home." He brushes off his hands and takes a deep drink of water. He looks over the group. "The mission was to scout, probe, and determine the defenses and strength of the enemy, we still don't know loyal troop strength or position, that needs to be a priority. We have now killed a couple pets, and soon enough we will draw attention to ourselves, so we need to approach this with some tact."

B5, the Wharfmaster's Manor, is a handsome, three-story mansion with a splendid view of Kelmarane's dock and the tannery and mill across the river. It is in a good state of repair, unlike most of the buildings here, but does not appear to be in use.

Smirking, "You can all stay here too as there seems to be more than enough room. At least inside.. we're out of sight."

"the real question is why no one else has taken this idea."
At Sonya's words, Silena's smirk vanishes, and she unlimbers her spiked chain from about her waist taking a tentative combat ready stance as she surveys the house... MUCH more critically than before...
