Silena Dulare |
Silena shruggs, "Maybe gnoll's don't like nice living? Dibs on the large bedroom...!"
Jengren Dsustrun |
Jengren chuckles at the Erizi's comment. "Dibs is who is after us...he is the enemy." The sorcerer replies trying to hold a straight face.
reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
He manages to keep a straight face when he makes the comment.
Silena Dulare |
Silena shrugs, "Well obviously, no one is here now.. let's move on to the next target..."
Silena strides from the Warmaster's Home and leads the way to the Stables.. the next building in line {B4}...
Megan Robertson |
Even Jengren doesn't find anything. The place is in reasonable condition and would not need much work to make it a very comfortable home.
The stables at B4 are connected by a short passageway to the next building (B3). There is evidence of someone having been living here - it's where Felliped had been hiding until he saw you lot camping in the churchyard and risked sneaking over to see who you were.
Sonya Amir |
"Another dead end. It seems the gnolls numbers may have been overblown. Would you guys want to see if we can take the gatehouse? It will eliminate our muted presence but if we are going to move camp to this side of town we should eliminate our nearest patrol."
Erizi the Landless |
"Ah". "So Dibbs is the leader of these gnolls"? "I see".
Then turning to the smaller man with a smile he grins. "And you are right". "It is time to kill some gnolls".
Silena Dulare |
Silena agrees, "Yes, a quick overwhelming strike as long as we do not allow any escapees.. could easily be 'staged' to look like a dispute broke out between the gnoll guards and they killed each other! Not unlikely occurrence with their general lack of discipline and order here. Let us move swiftly and deadly...!"
"Here's a battle plan... We get into position... covering the exits. Jengren you cover any rear exit, if there is one at all, with Sonya as backup. Erizi and I will position ourselves at the main entrance. We ALL HOLD until I cast my sleep spell into their midst.. then Erizi and I storm their positions! Jengren and Sonya.. your task is support where you can.. but primarily make sure none escape! Then as fast as possible we neutralize them and secure the position. Any suggestions or objections?"
Silena waits for any further discussion.. if there is none.. she leads the way to the guardhouse using the surrounding buildings to cover her approach.
Then she tries to get a layout of the tactical situation.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Sonya Amir |
I have a spell that will turn allies against one another but only for a moment. It could aid us if one attempts to escape. When we are close allow me a moment to pray over the two of you before you charge into their midst.
Silena Dulare |
Silena nods, "...simple is far more difficult to screw-up and does not waste resources we can't quickly replace.. namely our lives."
At Sonya's admonishment to hold for her spell Silena agrees, "Very well desert flower, but you will not need to cast sun metal miracle on my behalf.. I have one prepared myself."
Megan Robertson |
The Watch Guardhouse (B9): You've been told that a gnoll ranger accompanied by a pack of hyenas dwells within this intact gatehouse, which includes a sturdy bridge overlooking the road up the hill toward the battle market and ruined church. There's a big statue of Sarenrae with a trumpet held to Her lips on a huge pillar that abuts the guardhouse - perhaps that was used to sound an alarm in time of attack?
Sonya Amir |
Sonya bows reverently before the statue before lifting her head and casting detect magic upon the statue.
Selina, are you sure you can put him to sleep before he sounds an alarm? As long as I'm within a stone's throw of him I can use my incantation to have him attack his pets. That may even turn the whole pack against him, but in the very least give you a few seconds extra to cast your spell.
Silena Dulare |
Silena shrugs, "My plan is a 'framework' if you think you could cast something to help that fine. Alternatively, I could just cast silence on him or whatever he is using for an alarm signal that would stop any alarm being raised as well. He might be too tough for a sleep spell to work on him.. but there s no way I can know that before hand."
Silena looks at the party, "I'm fine with however the party wishes to do this if an alternate plan is suggested."
Sonya Amir |
The sleep spell keeps our group the safest. Once you see him start your casting, I'll use my spell to buy you as much time as I can. Does anyone have any objections? If not then Ill start my spell. It will last only a few minutes so we'll need to start soon after. Assuming there are no objections, Sonya begins her prayers evocation laying hands upon Selina then Erizi. With the Everlight's blessing, deal justice swiftly and completely. Send the creature to death without needless suffering.
Sonya casts bull's Strength once on each target. +4 to strength for 4 minutes.
Silena Dulare |
Silena smiles at the gift of the "Dawnflower" feeling might fill her!
Silena moves up to the structure, folowing the sounds of the yapping hyena's... and using it somewhat to cover the sound of her approach heading for the shadows behind the stables...
Silena hangs her buckler on her belt briefly as she tries to stealthily approach the stables. Hoping Erizi is quieter than her... in her Metal Banded Armor...
She looks for a loose wall plank or a knot whole to peer into the stables ...all she needs is a crack to provide line of sight on the gnoll packmaster or even just the room inside the stables to target her spell in the area.
Stealth: 1d20 + 1 - 6 ⇒ (18) + 1 - 6 = 13
Full Round Action: Cast sleep
Erizi the Landless |
Silena smiles and calmly goes to retrieve the shortsword, Chidingly she comments, "... I have learned, a serviceable weapon is not one to disrespect or be abandoned at a whim."
She takes the shortsword in its sheath and places it in a saddlebag on 'Nightscream's', riding gear.
Silena looks over at Erizi and smiles, "You know Erizi.. I see your wearing studded leather? We do have a suit of magical Chain Shirt... if your interested that is... it would be slightly more protective for you to wear it instead. Not much use to me.. I'm a heavy armor warrior myself."
Silena's Leveled
"Do you mean your are gifting this armor to me"? "I have nothing to gift you in return...however when I do get something it is yours". "Thank you".
Erizi the Landless |
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Stealth
Whispering> "Just let me know when to start hitting things".
I am not used to this new armor. It is noisy.

Silena's Leveled
Silena smiles and waves it off, "Of course its a gift silly.. its yours! No one else here will be using it.. the armors yours. But if we run across set of magical heavy armor.. I'll put in a bid for it. It will be a little while longer before I can enchant weapons and armor.. but I'll get there eventually - then I'll make us all some custom magical gear!"
Megan Robertson |
Suddenly, the door of the Gatehouse flies open and half-a-dozen hyenas rush out, yipping and sniffing around. As soon as they spot the party, they run towards you...
If you want to fight them, it's initiative time! Please also state your actions & make necessary rolls.
Sonya Amir |
initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Sonya gasps out at their number drawing herself closer into Erizi's shadow hoping he can defend her half as well as Cailin did. Her eyes close drawing up the flame of a familiar spell in her mind as she speaks the words of the incantation placing her hand upon Erizi's drawn hammer causing it to erupt in flames. "Come champion, take up the Dawnflower's flame and become a shield for her priestess and a might blade to her enemies.
Sonya was already behind Erizi so she will just move within 5 feet of him (if he has moved in initiative before her) and casts sun metal +1d4 fire damage on attacks with that weapon. Erizi and Selina don't forget you have bull's strength running on you both.
Silena Dulare |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Silena begins casting her sleep spell - on the defensive...
Concentration: {DC15 + 2x Spell Lvl = 17} 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 "sigh... spell lost"
Erizi the Landless |
Feeling stronger than he ever has, and blessed with the tingle of magic running through his weapon, Erizi gleefully swings at one of the beasts, but continues to move forward, focused on his goal...and the door.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 Initiative
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 Earthbreaker, Bulls Strength
2d6 + 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 3) + (2) + 9 = 18 Damage.
If one runs past him and invites an AoO then here it is.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 Earthbreaker
2d6 + 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (3, 6) + (1) + 9 = 19 Pounding damage.
Megan Robertson |
The hyenas come bounding out, sniffing the air and yipping. They aren't particularly hostile, but not that friendly either... and on being met with hostility are ready to attack without hesitation, yips being replaced by snarls. There are 4 of them.
Hyena initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Megan Robertson |
Round 1
Erizi is in the lead, and as the hyenas rush out he gets an AoO on one, clearly signalling the party's hostile intentions as his hammer smashes down on one, breaking its spine.
We now have three hyenas.
Two decide to snap at Erizi forthwith.
Hyena #1's attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9, damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Hyena #2's attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10, damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The last one heads for Sonya.
Hyena #3's attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10, damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Erizi looses his own attack, crushing the skull of Hyena #1 with ease. We now have but two hyenas left...
Acting in unision, Sonya moves to cast on Erizi whilst Silena attempts her sleep spell, but loses concentration - probably at the sight of Erizi bowling hyenas over like ninepins!
Round back, Jengren, all is quiet.
Actions and rolls for Round 2, if you please.
Silena Dulare |
Silena snarls in a most unlady-like fashion... letting loose something akin to a large hunting cat's roar as she leaps into battle with the hyenas... whipping her spiked chain into motion.. she move to flank with Erizi and swing her chain in a wickedly punishing arc at one of the Hyenas.
Move: To flank with Erizi
Attack with Spiked Chain: {flank +2, Bull's Strength + 2} 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 31 {Critical threat!}
Damage Spiked Chain: [Bulls Strength +3{2 handed weapon}] 2d4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 + 3 = 11
Roll to confirm Critical: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 15
Critical damage - If confirmed: 2d4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4) + 3 + 3 = 12
Sonya Amir |
Sonya moves away from the hyena stepping cautiously back. She glasses around and realizes Jengren has not come to their aid. She quickly feels for her life link and feels none of her allies are harmed. Knowing stealth is already lost to then Sonya yells just loud enough to reach the other side of the gatehouse, JENGREN!!
Erizi the Landless |
Whirling Erizi prepares to take advantage of the remaining Hyena.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 EB Attack
2d6 + 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (3, 2) + (3) + 9 = 17 EB Damage
Megan Robertson |
A couple of gnoll faces peer out the window and vanish almost as quickly.
Round 2
One of the remaining hyenas snaps at Erizi again.
Hyena attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17, damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
The other takes one look at Silena's chain and flees, tail between legs!
Erizi swings at the hyena attacking him, sending it crashing to the ground with barely time to emit a yelp before it expires.
Sonya stands back, calling Jengren, but Silena whirls into action sending her chain unerringly into the fleeing hyena and bringing it down in a fatal manner.
End of combat...
And Jengren arrives around the corner of the building to see dead bits of hyena all over the ground.
Silena Dulare |
Silena urges, "Go, go, go! Storm the Gate house, there are two inside! Sonya, go with Jengren to cover the any back exits... We must not let ANY escape!"
Silena runs to the stables doors and kicks them open for Erizi to enter and continue the slaughter!
Erizi the Landless |
Erizi needs no second notice, as he loves feeling this strong, With a flex of his bicep, and a respectful nod at Sonya, he follows Silena into the vipers nest.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 Perception
Megan Robertson |
Jengren can indeed see the gnolls. A finger flips, two globes of pulsating golden energy are unloosed straight at the leading one... who screeches and redoubles his efforts to open the door. He manages it, and the other gnoll gives him a shove as they tangle in their haste to get through it.
Erizi the Landless |
"Going somewhere gentlemen"? "And you company just arrived".
Erizi charges the one opening the door, hoping to stop him from doing so.
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26 EB, Charge
2d6 + 1d4 + 9 ⇒ (6, 1) + (4) + 9 = 20 Clobbering time damage
Silena Dulare |
[OOC: Sorry for the absence.. was without internet for today. That last Gnoll is sooo lucky.. Silena was going to kill him.. still wants to as well!]
Silena storms into the room her spiked chain whirling ready to strike and it looks like she has no intention of taking ANY prisoners!
Move: to second Gnoll
Standard Action - Attack with Cold Iron Spiked Chain: {Bull's STR + 2} 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15
Damage Spiked Chain: {Bull's STR +3[two-handed weapon]} 2d4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 + 3 = 10
She pauses seeing everyone holding.. "W-Wha..?!?! Why are we talking to this evil cur? We are AT WAR! Kill it!! It will only lie anyways!!!"
