Erizi the Landless
Erizi is chomping at the bit to get the fight going, but Sonya's statement even scares him a bit. He looks around for a way to climb up to the beast with the least resistance.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Perception
Silena Dulare
Silena gestures to Barezata to follow her... and slips back into the hallway outside to cast a Silence spell on a copper coin she carries in her teeth as she hefts her spiked chain to move in silence up the steps heading for the upper levels to take advantage of Sonya's distraction...
Again moving back into the shadows the half-breed dark elven priestess of pain fades into invisibility as her Night Hunter granted power conceals her movement and presence from sight!
Stealth: 'Move 15/15ft'[30'ft total] {-5} Take 10! 10 + 1 - 6 - 5 + 20 = 20+Silence
* No initiative has been called for so this might be a round and a half of actions!
Sonya Amir
"You WHAT???" he asks in confusion. He's definitely more puzzled than angry.
"I do nothing. I am merely the messenger for the Dawnflower's message of peace. Sarenrae's holy temple has been defiled. This city has become a cesspool for all that is evil in this world. You, and any who would have it, are offered the chance to fall before her eternal mercy and drive out the wickedness that rules this city. That which is sealed beneath the temple has corrupted this city. You, and any who can hear me, are offered the opportunity to help cleanse this city as your first step of redemption."
Sonya's demeanor is non-threatening as she tries to explain her words. Though she is certainly on guard watching for any who draw themselves too close.
Erizi the Landless
Erizi is very confidant that at any minute Sonya is going to be beset, so he steps near to defend her... but holds any attack for now.
I did once know a gladiator who so demoralized his opponents with his speech, that he made it to the finals of a great tournament. I was saddened to end his life.
Silena Dulare
Silena moves up the stairs to the right after the main entrance [south entrance] {and currently only open entrance} to the Battle Market. Slipping within the dim lighting she is emitting from her armor [Darkness Cast Upon her armor] that lowers the light level around her she shifts invisibly - 'Nighthunter' Granted Power as she turns left heading toward the balcony overlooking the battle arena below.
She does not pause but continues moving toward the entrance on the second floor to her immediate left.. anxious to get back into the hallways rather than be out in the open on the second floor tier - even if invisible and silent.
Entering back into the hallways she takes an immediate left again to find a door... likely leading to a guard room before one can get to the small stairs leading up to the third floor.
Hoping that Barzata is with her {she should be able to follow the dim light she is using to hide with and the silence area to know where Silena is going - the opening door that plunges the room into darkness is a good clue too} and that the guards will be the typical inattentive she's encountered before Silena hefts her spiked chain opens the door and enters.
OOC: It would be so much easier if the map actually had numbers for the rooms!
The light level in the room should drop to almost darkness as there are no windows and possible only one torch in the room... but her darkvision can see perfectly well. With the silence spell on the coin in her teeth.. she enters and moves first [hopefully with surprise] to position herself at the stairs to cut off any escape ... and let the killing begin!
Hijiro
Hijiro slips along in the shadows, working his way up, following the moving darkness.

Map updated with numbers, sorry about that!
You all seem to be doing a remarkable job of sneaking around... nobody has noticed you!
Please post where you are now (using the numbers).
Silena Dulare
Uhm.. still no numbers. Perhaps its part of the pic file that is not part of the jpeg? Something the printers added to the pdf.. but not to the actual jpeg of the picture file?
Silena Dulare
Ok.
Silena entered through C1, turned right went up the stairs to C2 then turned left and left again to enter room C11
Sonya Amir
"I wish to offer you all the chance at redemption. The opportunity to lie down your weapons and live in harmony. A chance to return this city to the thriving trading center it once was, instead of a den for thieves and sell swords. I bring my goddess's message of grace to each and every creature here capable of understanding me. What say you Kardswan? Is the mouth of the Carrion King wise enough to lead his followers into a time of prosperity?" Sonya is remaining remarkably calm at the insults hurled at her faith. Speaking in a plain, calm voice that carries to the furthest corners of this chamber.
Silena Dulare
Megan... need to know what's going on your last post did not say if Silena and Barezata ran into any guards in room {C11}. If no Silena will proceed up the steps to the third floor, room {C12}.
Megan Robertson
|
Nobody in C11 at all, apart from a stray cat which hisses at the pair of you, Silena.
Kardswann laughs.
"But I am running this place as a thriving trading centre, girl! Look around you. Stalls selling wares. Men taking their ease in a tavern. Traders coming and going... or is it just that none of the profits are coming your way, or that of whoever you serve?"
Silena Dulare
Then Silena moves up to Room {C12} and if that is empty she moves on to {C14} stealthily moving up to the doorway to Kardswan's booth. Once at that doorway... things will turn ugly really fast!
Silena Dulare
There are four gnolls in C12, flipping coins and looking thoroughly bored. They are, however, alert enough to notice Silena peeking in and they get up, reaching for weapons as they do so.
Silena is enshrouded in darkness radiating from her spiked-blackened steel Banded Armor~ the target of her previously cast darkness spell; which proves to be no hindrance to the gnoll's natural darkvision... nor Silena's and her Nighthunter granted power of invisibility in darkness is similarly bypassed by darkvision leaving the petite, armored, half-drow, woman-child clearly visible to the Gnolls!
[OOC: Sorry Barezata, Silena cast her darkness spell on her armor rather than something she could discarde back down the steps~ my bad. Hopefully the Gnolls have some illumination in the room {candle, lantern, oil lamp etc.}.. so the light level will only be dim so you can still see.]
But Silena only grins as she clenches the coin she cast Silence 20'ft radius in her teeth. No one will hear the murder of these gnolls... her only regret being she will not either!
Hefting her spiked-chain in hand Silena goes into a graceful~ erotic/violent dance performing a defensive spin with her chain-linked weapon hefting her buckler right in the muzzle of a enemy gnoll for maximum defense as she gleefully moves into battle... eager for the blood of vermin dogs that DARE walk like men to be spelt!
Silena moves past as many of the gnolls as she can hoping to lure them into attacking her so her allies can enter the room unthreatend. Silena ends her violent-erotic dance of chain and shapely body in a position to provide flank to either Barezeta of Hijiro to take the advantage!
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Standard Action: Total Defense {+4AC 'dodge'}!
- Current AC 'Hastily-donned{-1} & Total Defense' Banded Armor AC22{23 w/Buckler}
Move: 20'ft - provoke as many AoO as reasonably possible with movement, end in position to provide flank for allies.

Gnoll #1 initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Gnoll #2 initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Gnoll #3 initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Gnoll #4 initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Round 1
Two of the gnolls seem particularly quick off the mark and rush forwards to attack Silena.
Gnoll #3 is first, poking at her with a spear - attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Gnoll #1 is not far behind, also with a spear. Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Then Silena spins into action, pushing past these two to the centre of the room in an attempt to embroil the other two in combat.
They're quite happy to oblige and raise their spears as well.
Gnoll #2 - attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Gnoll #4 - attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
OK - next round actions and rolls, please. Anyone else coming to play?
Silena Dulare
There is no sound coming from a 20'ft radius of Silena...which covers the entire room.. so no. No one can hear this battle... not even the combatants!
Barezata al-Zarqa’
Ok, if its dark, then Barezata is just hanging out oblivious to the fight for the moment. If it is dim, then...
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Gods be damned, I can barely see those gnolls. If we get out of here alive, I am definitely going to need to talk to Silena about how we can work together better. For a moment, Barezata watches the reaction of the first gnoll, quickly assessing its motion. Then drawing back her bowstring, she fires an arrow toward its heavily muscled chest.
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Concealment (high is good for Barezata: 1d100 ⇒ 85
Damage: 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
No sneak attack due to concealment, but at least it is flat-footed against her.
Silena Dulare
Don't worry, Barezata, Silena is dismissing the spell next round.. but it takes a standard action, which is why she did not do it the first round of combat.
Silena Dulare
Silena spins evading her foes. Spending the round tactically evading but not the flurry of her total defense. She is fighting defensively, and with a silent act of will dismisses her darkness racial magic.
She steps to widen her threatened area with her whirling spiked chain in case one of the gnolls tries to move away from her to attack Barezata.
Standard Action: Dismiss Darkness Spell
- Current AC: 'Hastily-donned{-1} & Fighting Defensively {+2'dodge' AC}' Banded Armor AC20{21 w/Buckler}
Free Action: 'Silena will - if she can in the press of gnolls 5'ft adjest to maintain a flank and provide a wider threatened area for her own attacks so if one of the gnolls tries to disengage from her to attack her allies provokes an AoO with its movement.'
Attack of Opportunity-If needed: '{-4} fighting defensively' 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 7 - 4 = 8
Damage - Spiked Chian: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7

Barezata kills one gnoll outright (Gnoll #3). Gnoll #1 attacks him with a spear - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9.
T'other two go for Silena.
Gnoll #2 - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Gnoll #4 - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20, damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Silena, Gnoll #4 is the closest, but your chain misses him.
Next round's actions and rolls please!
Barezata al-Zarqa’
Barezata winces from the spear thrust as it punches between the metal studs on her armor and continues right into her hip. Going to have to check that for disease. I'm sure its filthy. Not prepared for a fight in close quarters, she kicks off the gnoll's knee and rolls back just out of his reach, coming back to her feet with an arrow nocked. Blood beginning to seep more quickly from her wound, she fires the arrow right into his chest, hoping to find his heart.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
hp 23/32
Silena Dulare
Silena smiles at the stab of pain from the Gnoll spear the other spear bouncing off her buckler, thinking~ 'play-time is now over...'
She switches the spin of her dance going offensive as she lashes out with her spiked chain ... not at the Gnoll that struck her but at the one who missed...
In the course of her maneuvering she 5'ft steps out of any flank the two gnolls may have on her and closer to the gnoll that is attacking Barezata... hopefully to provide a flank bonus to her ranged attacks... so she can sneak attack her foe; but not quite far enough to provoke any attacks upon an unprotected flank from her two opponents.
Standard Action: Attack w/Spiked Chain 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Damage Spiked Chain: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1) + 3 = 6
Free Action: 5'ft step out of flank & closer to Barezata's Gnoll
hp 22/32
Hijiro
Hijiro jumps into the fray against one of the gnolls hoping for a flank attack if possible.
to hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 (+ addl 2 if flanking)
dmg if hits: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
addl dmg if flank achieved: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
(Sorry for the long absence - I wasn't getting updates for some reason)
Silena Dulare
Sorry for the delay... been working 6 days a week 10 hour shifts... really tired.
The Gnolls vanquished Silena gestures to her companions to follow... shaking her head to the negative at withdrawing.
Instead she sets her cold Iron spiked chain down and removes her alchemical silver spiked gauntlet. Then... oddly.. she slips out of her boots, her slider and shapely calves of dusky, almost inky black, colored flesh in stark contrast to her white .. and delicately manicured toenails.
Silena gestures toward the room's exit toward the hallway {c14} that leads to the private booth of Kardswan {c15}, drawing her wickedly serrated Katar, the LEOPARD'S PAW.. as she has named it, it is clear she means to shank the arrogant Genie in the back ...opening hostilities in the most provocative way possible!
She makes her way out the door down the hall {c14} to the entrance to the private arena viewing booth {c15}.
---
Unless someone stops her Silena under the cover of the silence will move up on Kardswan and stab him in the back with her magical vicious Katar starting the fight in spectacular violence!
Move: 20'ft
Standard Action: Attack w/LEOPARD'S PAW 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8{hopefully flat-footed}
Swift Action: Use Trait - Fires of Hell
Damage: +1 Vicious Katar - Leopard's Paw 1d4 + 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + (3, 1) + 3 + 1 = 12
Damage to Silena: 'Vicious' Weapon trait 1d6 ⇒ 2 - No hit no damage
HAHA! Sweet! Total Miss! Very cute!
To the players Silena is not insane.. she actually does have a plan here! :) She never expected the Katar to 'finish' the Genie.. in fact she was counting on that. She was hoping to weaken him a bit but no matter. Her REAL intent is to go all wereleopard on him and bull rush with him off the balcony to the fall into the arena below... so everyone can get into the fight. We'll she how that works out... lols!
She is not concerned about damage herself.. her hit points change when she switches from and she gains a significant DR! Her task being to delay and stall and confound him long enough for her companions to put him down. Just wanted you all to be on the page I'm on so you know what she is up too. All of this is out of character so react the way your characters would. Silena is playing a ...reckless gamble... but one she at least thinks will pay off and feels she can survive.. 'what matter a few brusies on her if we win ultimately?'
@ Megan: Feel free to script this as you see fit Megan .. I trust your writing and choreographing of the action. I hope I'm not reading your ending the fight with the gnolls incorrectly that your really want this to get moving... its not the Silena show after all!
Barezata al-Zarqa’
Barezata follows Silena, new arrow nocked and ready. Invisibility expended, she relies on her natural talents to hide in the halls of the battle market and surprise Kardswan.
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
I'll post attacks once we reach Kardswan or other enemies and determine if we get a surprise round or just begin regular combat.
Hijiro
Hijiro uses his stealth to try to get closer to the 'action' while remaining unnoticed.
stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
