Silena Dulare
Silena flashes her sultry violet eyes over her shoulder at Samuel then back focused on her foe, and nods appreciatively and saying in elvish {actually a Drow dialect}... oddly accented, "E goleky E'li lean eo 'Anira Tyaetyca' Lailliyac, fyan E anirillgo aniraa oem anira ilew..."
Then she shifts her stance slightly spinning her spiked chain to keep drawing the spiders attention, her mauve colored cloak stirring with the light brush of the whirling chain...
"Don't cast any more spells they are not needed. Calain, move around to flank this vermin while its attention is on me and kill it with that 'big sword' of yours!"
It is this close to the Half-Elf woman that Samuel notices... how...young she is! She can't be more than perhaps at best two decades old - practically a woman child!
Amon Rahotep
PBS: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 4 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Amon nocks another arrow and lets it fly striking the spider and removing it from the drows shoulder.
Nethys blesses his own it appears.
Silena Dulare
Silena is ready to defend herself against the last spider... when she notices the spider's movement is merely the final throws of a death twitch as it seems to have sprouted a "ninth" leg that is a straight shaft of wood!
She chuckles relaxing her battle stance... slightly and turns to Salute Amon, "...My thanks to your sure eye Amon of the 'All-Seeing Eye'!"
She does a piroette and drapes the spiked chain around her body and over her shoulder for ready use should combat and foes present themselves again.
Silena favors Samuel with a naughty smile as she walks over to left flank of the doorway into the next room beyond the gallery of pillars. Her hips swaying slightly in her steps... though it does not seem intentional {one thinks}... merely the normal movement of the attractive young woman's steps.
Taking up position next to the doorway she waits for Amon to continue his scouting forward ready to support his advance.
When Amon proceeds forward again she lightly strokes his cheek playfully casting guidance upon him to reset her magics...
Calain
Calain moves to recover his thrown weapon, then takes up spot on the other side of the portal, opposite the drow.
He merely nods, at her prowess and says nothing, trying to look focused but slightly annoyed his throw missed.
Still, Melee was his world.
He would have to prove otherwise when the next enemy presented itself.
Jengren Dsustrun
Jengren shrugs, "Don't know much about the hermit, we sort of surprised him when we arrived. He could be hiding something but I think he is a relatively harmless old coot, who prefers his own company." Jengren prepares to follow along in the middle of the pack.

Do you want to look around further here (if so a Search check, please) or continue onwards?
Here's the map again. You've been scrapping in #2, the next (unlabelled) chamber appears to be completely empty.
Silena Dulare
{OOC: Opps! Yeah.. we should search.}
Silena looks over at Calian using the message whisper, {Hold your position Calain to watch and support Amon's advance. Amon, hold your advance we are going to search this room real quick. Quickly, the rest of us should search this area to makes sure it is secure and nothing else...lurks about!}
Silena slips away from her position at the doorway and moves quickly about the area searching the corners of the room.. mindful this time to look at the pillar tops and actually ...seeking specifically the lair the spiders once used.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Calain looks at the drow as though she were, well, something less than complimentary. Her flurry with her weapon was competent, but he had killed many competent warriors.
He doesn't bother with the whisper spell.I have been in this since the beginning woman, and already claimed the lions share of kills. I KNOW my role and will kill any who are foolish enough to attack our group. DO NOT presume to give me orders, you have not proven yourself ally or leader, merely not an enemy... for now.
He turns and shows the woman his back, a great insult in the arena.
Silena Dulare
Silena gets a perplexed amused look on her face at Calian's silly retort and just can't resist needling him whispering across the message spell, {Awe... what's the matter 'God King' Calain... did missing your mark sting that overblown ego of yours so much? Poor pit fighter... if you have slain as many walls as you hit with your missed thrown dagger you MUST indeed be a great slayer ... of masonry! Now calm down you silly man... and have sense! I only for expedience told you to hold position for common sense as Amon had already advanced into the room beyond and you are the more ...supposedly, experienced fighter. So put your prickly pride... back in your pants, no one was "Ordering" anyone. I just don't bother with flowery pretty speech to ask for sensible, tactical action when danger may still threaten! Be still... oh 'Lion of the Pit'... you'll get you chance to chest beat over slain foes today I'm sure!}
Silena chuckled, men had such fragile egos sometimes... and why did he turn his back to her...? Fool.. that would get him backstabbed in his liver by her siblings... such silliness.
She smirked in mirth at his antics and focused on her search for hostiles or hidden loot of the spider's lair...
Silena Dulare
Silena stops immediately at the shifting of her foot on a loose flagstone... a myriad of thoughts flash through her mind {a trap, a trigger or a deadfall?}
She carefully looks down flashing her eyes about - left, right, up and finally down not seeing any incoming mechanism of harm she relaxes slightly and slowly slides her foot back to look at the discovery. With a spike from her spiked gauntlet she pries the flagstone up and draws back quickly in case scorpions or poisonous snakes reside within. But it is just a worn leather sack. Still suspicious she casts detect magic and carefully examines the hole before plucking the leather sack free.
Across the whisper of the message spell, {Hmmm... seems there is loot to be had.. I have discovered a hidden leather bag under a flagstone here.}
Silena carefully opens the bag with her spiked gauntlet spikes mindful to touch the leather bag sparingly as she opens it to determine its contents.
[OOC: I think her familiarity with Drow culture would make her constantly suspicious as a general principle. lol.]

Keeping an eye on Amon who was sneaking about, Calain replies, this time using her MESSAGE to reply.
There is no insult in his voice this time.{ My throw did miss so I will not deny your insult. But the choice was as you say, common sense. Common. Do not imply that I am a simpleton by giving me advice that an idiot already knows.}
He continues to keep his eye on Amon for now even moving foreward a little to keep his spacing as the Bard moved about.

Silena, your detect magic indicates the presence of magic here! Cautiously, you investigate and find a golden pectoral, a copper mask symbol of Nethys, 82 tarnished silver pieces, and an intricate bronze scarab... it is the scarab that is radiating magic.
Silena Dulare
Replying in whisper to Calain, {No implication was my intent warrior.. but neither you nor I are telepathic. I wanted no misunderstanding on your part as to why I left my position supporting our advancing scout... and your flank... though it seems a small matter now as he has returned. Not every advance is a grand troop movement into enemy held territory...}
Silena smiles softly, pleased at the discovery... but surprisingly... she is not greedy and walks over to Amon openly showing what she has discovered.
"Look here Amon, sorry no scrolls of lore... but there are artifacts of Nethys. The scarab is magical."
Silena picks up the scarab carefully in her spiked gauntleted fist and examines it under the power of her detect magic to attempt to discern what it might be.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
* Grrr... hate being only 2nd level no decent number of skill points!
But her limited training in the Arcane brings her little insight.
She grimaces, "...I can't make heads or tales of the enchantment Amon, Samuel, Jengren... Sonya.. what do you think?"
...Respectfully she does not touch the mask or any other obvious regalia of Nethys.
Jengren Dsustrun
Jengren looks at Silena, then extends his hand with his detect magic active to handle the scarab, "What do we have here?"
Taking his time to first examine the magical auras, 18 seconds (3 rds) with detect magic, then another 18 seconds (3 rds) manipulating the item to ascertain it's magical properties. "Interesting little scarab that you've discovered."
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Silena Dulare
Silena smiles and gently corrects Jengren, "...we've discovered you mean."
Sonya Amir
Sonya makes her way to Silena and the scarab, hoping to examine it. She quietly backs down as Jengren gets the item first and once he is finished inspecting it takes a look for herself, under the influence of her own detect magic.
Spellcraft1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Silena Dulare
Silenna satisfied returns to her position to the left of the doorway into 'room' proceeding room 3# Ready support the continued advance and sweep of the Refuge of Nethys.
Again .. she resets her guidance spell upon her and Amon.
Sonya Amir
Sonya finishes inspecting the scarab and turns it back over to Jengren.
The aura on it is weakened from what it was. I'd say it has just over a dozen uses left in it but I cannot tell what it does myself.

A sense of restrained power permeates the dusty air of this dimly lit sanctuary, the only roofed portion of the ruin. On the walls, carvings celebrate a radiant figure. At his mighty command, legions of elementals build entire cities, raging seas calm, and enemies are brought to accord. Four falcon-headed statues guard a chamber to the west. Between them, a broad flagstone cants up into the air, a trapdoor no longer secret.
As you begin to look round, scattered stones reform into an archway, carved with a vulture motif.
Calain
Calain looks about at the various reliefs,
Nice to look at. I wonder if others devoted such time to master thier craft so, would we be any better of. The greatest warriors ever are those who train and obsess and fight till they drop from exhaustion, only to rest and go again. Does a master mason or painter do the same? Useless pursuit, just to make a thing for the sake of being pretty, but I can see the effort, no less. I would still piss on it if drunk enough.
Silena Dulare
Silena enters the chamber and regards the fresco's on the walls and their obvious depiction of NETHYS' might and power.
She makes no comment to Calain's impertinence in the confines of a Consecrated Sanctuary of a Major God... {He'll learn the hard way... gods can hear too...}
Though the scattered stones moving to reform into an archway draws her instant attention! She moves to place herself between the now vulture motiffed archway and any of the party in case it should animate and move to attack! A quick spin & flourish and her spiked-chain is in hand...
She casts detect magic and regards the magical effect trying to figure its purpose...
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
"I think their are still magical defense empowered here... Amon be careful but check the trapdoor... I'll follow and cover you should a foe present itself, but keep your eye keen for traps.. magical and mundane!"
Jengren Dsustrun
Jengren moves along safely tucked in the middle of the crowd. Listening and looking for anything unusual.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Obviously still contemplating the scarab in his pocket. I wonder why the owner choose to save and shelter that item...nothing special but certainly useful.
Sonya Amir
Sonya steps into the room, goosebumps rising over her skin as her body lightly trembles at the sense of restrained power in this room.
Could this be what I was sent to find?
She takes a deep breath to calm herself and casts Detect magic slowly turning to search the room.

Looking around, you can recognize the depictions of Nethys and his
herald, the cloud-like being known as the Arcanotheign. Those using detect magic can sense the lingering echoes of once magnificent and awe-inspiring magicks designed to impress visitors with the power of Nethys.
The trapdoor (maked T on the map) is a stone slab with a bronze mechanism, long since corrodeded into immobility. It's going to need a mighty heave to get it open, but it looks as if there's a shaft leading to subterranean depths...
And Jengren stubs his toe on a boulder as he isn't paying attention to where he's going! (No damage, but it hurts.)
Silena Dulare
Silena moves around to sweep the room looking for any hostiles... ending her circuit at the trapdoor.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
"So what does the scarab do Jengren. Sonya indicated she knew how many uses it has left.. but could not determine its actual powers. An unspoken implication perhaps to you ... do you know what the Scarab does?"
Jengren Dsustrun
"Hmphfttt, blasted stone," as Jengren leans over and rubs his toe. After rubbing it a bit he hurries along following the others.
Finally answering the drow's question, "Simple really, it has a bit of magic that help open and close unlocked things. You know like doors, windows, boxes and what not....well, as long as the item doesn't weigh much....say under 30 pounds." He shrugs.
Silena Dulare
Sonya listens intently to Jengren's explanation.
So it could not be used for something like the slab in the floor then?
Silena nods in approval standing near the trap door, "Ah.. good point Sonya! Perhaps the trapdoor is specifically a trap that one can by-pass by using the Scarab? It may even be that only adherants to the Refuge would know of the stash's location and the Scarab 'key' for bypassing the defenses?"
Silena cast's guidance upon Amon roughly stroking a spiked gauntleted hand upon his shoulder as she passes by... smiling naughtily at the fading of her previous guidance being used and she resets it.
Silana shifts position slightly to not get in Amon's way as he examines the trap-door and to interpose between Sonya and any trap that might be sprung from the trap-door.
Jengren Dsustrun
"Correct, Sonya, both because of the potential weight and corroded device is going to act as resistance like a lock holding it in place. Now there are spells such as Knock which would open that of door but it's a bit more advanced."
Jengren continues, "Now if we were fortunate enough to locate a treasure chest, and if the lock were removed....since most treasure is locked, the scarab would be useful to open the chest from a distance in case there was trap."
