Unless someone makes a perception check to match Chee's Sleight of Hand, I'm gonna say he pockets 8gp without the group noticing. No way he could pocket every piece of gold in the room.
Chee isn't too sure, but he thinks the bowl might be worth anywhere between 50-140gp. It's in pretty good condition, except for some blood.

GM Fireclaw |

The blood stain is not very recent.
Horgun's search fails to turn up anything of value whatsoever, religious or otherwise.

GM Fireclaw |

Added a compass to the map, should make it easier to talk about directions.
Janos' quick examination of the mithral tube reveals that it is magical, but he is unable to discern it's exact properties.
The heroes walk along the eastern wall, along what must be the outer wall of the monastery, towards the door to the south. All along this wall the same five companions are depicted fighting various creatures, some of which are at least partly made up of fire. Some of the creatures have weapons growing out of their appendages, at if they were organic tools. These scenes are backed once again by the Pale Mountain, and over it are two titanic figures locked in a grapple. A fiery efreeti and a gorgeous woman who could only be a djinni princess.
This sculpture depicts the great wars of genie against genie. Occuring almost a thousand years past, these wars threw the Pale Mountain region into chaos for a couple hundred years.
As the group arrives at the door, they can see more carvings down the hallway to their right. The door is a solid oak door, in good condition, though the handle is a little rusted.
I would skip right ahead to opening this door, but now you guys know the layout of the courtyard area, there is another door by which you could enter this section. Some people may also want to examine the rest of the carvings.
Also, don't know if I mentioned it, the stirges gave you guys 200xp each.
Further: Would you guys like me to keep track of loot, and post it in the campaign info, or are you guys okay with it so far? I'm good with either.

Horgun Flintnose |

Horgun takes a glance at the mural, lingering thoughtfully on the Pale Mountain, before he goes to make a quick sweep of the overgrown courtyard while the others take their time with it.
Can I recognize where the Pale Mountain is supposed to be located with Knowledge (Geography)? Check of 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 Guessing not with that roll.

GM Fireclaw |

It's not that bad as you can SEE the Pale Mountain simply by stepping outside. It is pretty much directly north of the monastery, through the foothills.
Now that Horgun has seen the courtyard from a different angle, it occurs to him that this might be a nest of some sort. It is constructed in a similar fashion to nests he has seen Argia build, though on a decidely larger scale.

GM Fireclaw |

Horgun has heard of a species of Katapeshian Vultures known as Geiers. Their wingspan can reach 20 feet, and measure about 7 feet from beak to tail (they are Large creatures).

Horgun Flintnose |

Horgun lets out a whistle and back away. "You might want to be watching the skies, friends. If me eyes ain't playing tricks this here be a nest. I'd heard stories of mountain vultures twice my own height, but this be the first time I've seen proof of it."
He furrows his brow in thought. "The Lady said she wanted this place as her fort, and a giant bird feeling all protective of its nest in the center ain't the most safe thing. I fear we must be chasing the thing off somehow."
Any skills good for ideas on how to scare the geier away without having to kill it?

Jesail Ash |

I have a dumb question. I haven't been able to keep track of all the posts and do not have time to read through the entire thread, does anyone know exactly how much XP we should have?
Also a question for the GM, what XP track are we on? Fast or Medium, last time I tried this campaign, GM had us on Fast but I can't remember if you did the same.
I look at the image on the wall. "There is so much history here." I am enamored by the images. I gently touch the image of the Djinn princess. "Who is she? She's beautiful." I pause and retract my hand, I gently shake my head. "Sorry. Got distracted for a moment there. Lead on."[b]
At the mention of the idea of chasing off the vulture I take a moment to to think. [b]"This animal is no monster of evil. It is simply trying to survive and raise a family. It is best we find a good way to relocate this creature's home." I consider the species and think of a good way to lure or relocate them without just out right destroying them.
Knowledge Nature:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Horgun Flintnose |

Horgun chortles loudly. "Oh aye, it's as you say! But the rabbit I cooked for dinner were just trying to survive when I killed it, and the lion I chased off the week before were just trying to feed its family a health leg of dwarf." The laughter fades but a smirk remains. "Mercy be the luxury of the powerful, my friend. A goat can't be offering mercy to the butcher's knife and tell it to be on its way. It's a nice idea to chase it off, and I'll do me best if we've a plan for it, but if it's down to it or me I've got me axe sharp for a reason."

![]() |

Including the 200 we just got, we are at 900, and need 1,300 to level up. We are using the Fast XP track, though I think we forgot to get Xp from the encounter before this.

![]() |

"Who is she? She's beautiful." I pause and retract my hand, I gently shake my head. "Sorry. Got distracted for a moment there. Lead on."[b]
"[b]Wind and Fire. Mommy of you?"

Aakim Al Kassam |

The sacred grounds of Seranrae are no place for an oversized vulture. I can try to lead them away, but be ready to help me in case things turn for the worst. But first, I need to see this creature...
Aakim is ready to cast hypnotism on the vulture, but he needs a line of sight for the spell to have effect. Also, I'll try to use my Perform (snake charming) skill. Though the creature is not a snake, it shouldn't be too different, so GM applies the penalities as he sees fit.

GM Fireclaw |

The bird is not there. Horgun knows that these sorts of bird are known to have multiple nests scattered in a small region. Jesail thinks that if the party were to move the eggs away from the nest, but still within sight, it might draw the bird away, especially if the nest was gone when it arrived.

GM Fireclaw |

I'll allow you guys to move at 5ft per round through it. It's an easy take 10. Horgun and Jesail also know that eggs of a bird like this would be worth 50gp to the right buyer, but also don't have a long incubation time.

Jesail Ash |

"While the eggs are valuable, I am not entirely keen on simply destroying such a thing. However, if there is only the one bird then I would be willing to consider it a resource provided by the divines. The bird could be dinner and the eggs could feed others as long as they are put to good use. I will abide with the idea of forcibly dealing with the creature. It is not like we are wiping out it's species." With that I ready my crossbow looking for the thing to return.
Sorry bout the flipflop in my decision, I am still trying to figure out my character and I basically figured he would not see the harm in Hunting the bird for food. Um...are they good eating?

GM Fireclaw |

Probably not, vultures are known to carry diseases and the like, being carrion eaters.
That being said, this thing isn't here right now, so you guys should move on. >_>

GM Fireclaw |

As the party turns the corner of the hallway in front of them, they see a foyer. Laid out in front of them are a bunch of doors. This was clearly the main living space. A statue of a woman in long flowing robes stands near the center. The roof here is extremely bad, with large holes, some large enough for a geier to fit through. The middle door on the northern wall stands slightly ajar.

GM Fireclaw |

As Horgun peeks in, he sees what was clearly once a library, and a strong smell of molded paper assaults his nose. There is a pile of books in the center of the room, all of them look extremely decrepit, as though they would crumble if you touched them. On the far end of the room, a short staircase leads up to a balcony which traces the circumference of the room, 15 feet above the floor.

![]() |

Probably not, vultures are known to carry diseases and the like, being carrion eaters.
That being said, this thing isn't here right now, so you guys should move on. >_>
Heck, as they start moving out, I'll move the nest to a area within site, and near the exit if I can. I'll even leave some rations as a little gift. :)

GM Fireclaw |

The nest takes up almost the entire courtyard Janos O_O.
As Horgun and Chee search the room, they come across a book that isn't mouldering as the others are. The title on the spine reads The Genie Wars. Atop the balcony sports a wonderful view out the second story windows towards Kelmarane, and the dwarf can see movement in the village. Gnolls, he assumes.

![]() |

The nest takes up almost the entire courtyard Janos O_O.
Sorry, I meant I would try to move the eggs outside, unless that is unreasonable. Even for a Large creature, I would assume the eggs would be maybe 20-50 lbs each, which wouldn't be that bad. And then burn the nest. But that's just my assumption. If that is not feasable (within say 5 minutes), I'll simply follow the others for now.

GM Fireclaw |

Alright, the eggs aren't that large (think a little larger than ostrich eggs), and only weigh about 15 pounds each. Are you sure you want to burn the nest? The surrounding building is all marble but the heat might cause it to collapse.
Janos is able to climb into the nest and retrieve the eggs, stowing each in his sack, and takes them outside while the rest of the group explores the library room. He is able to meet up with the rest of the group just as they are finishing up their explorations. There are still several doors to be explored in the foyer, and strange, muffled noises are coming from behind the middle door on the northern wall.

![]() |

"Silence!!! Everyone, this door," pointing to the northern middle door. "It's talking to me." Janos will put his head to the door, trying to hear what it is saying. "I've never heard a door talk before. Maybe," very confussed, "Maybe a mage put a silence spell on it and it is trying to break free? I can't hear what it is trying to say. What language do doors speak, anyone know?"

Jesail Ash |

I raise my eyebrow at Janos's reaction to the door. I walk over and put a hand on his shoulder. "My friend. Think. The noises are likely coming from beyond the door." I look in the direction of the others. "There is something on the other side of this door. I will cover whomever opens it." I train my crossbow at the door and wait for another to open the door.

GM Fireclaw |

Strength Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Horgun gives the door a solid kick and the rotten wood around the handle splinters and the door swings open, revealing one of the weirdest sights any of the party has seen in their long travels. The noises were a pair of baboons fighting, around them are 4 other baboons. On an elevated part of the room sits a large, finely made chair upon which rests the largest pugwampi the group has seen yet, wearing a circlet of gold. As the door bursts open, he reaches for a clearly oversized warhammer, resting by his throne.
This room seems to have once been a dining hall, but all the tables have been shoved to the side to make room for a crude circle in the centre of the room, in which the two baboons were fighting. The pugwampi stands and screeches, pointing at the party. The baboons are moving to attack!
Roll Initiative! Combat map is forthcoming, as well as an updated map!
Baboon 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Baboon 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Baboon 3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Baboon 4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Baboon 5: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Baboon 6: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
King Moknokk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
If you roll higher than 24 on your initiative, you may go immediately.

Updated Map
Combat Map
The combat map can be bigger if you guys want it to, but this encompasses the main combat area. I have put number/letter combinations, so you can be precise with your movements

GM Fireclaw |

Maybe they heard Janos talking outside XD. I usually don't give surprise rounds unless something like an ambush is happening, but if you guys don't think that's fair, I can change. Just remember that it's a double-edged sword.

Having internet issues. For the last week, it has been very slow and inconsistant, but a few days ago it went down completely on my base. Shouldn't be too long, but I am not sure when I will be able to get on and post. I've been keeping up, and am still interested in playing though. Sorry guys. I'm actualy barrowing a battle's interenet just for this.
Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
I will just hang back and look for AoO's and Cure those that may need it. <Stat are on character sheet if needed.> Hopefully it will only be another day or two at most.
PS: Mushrooms = bsd juju. I actually prefere cactus juic in an alcoholic concoction grandmama showed me an Haleen. :)

GM Fireclaw |

Actual Initiative Order:
King Moknokk
Janos
Baboons 3, 4
Jesail
Baboon 1
Aakim, Chee, Horgun
Baboons 2, 5, 6
Feel free to post any time in the initiative order that include you, but I see that almost everyone already posted actions, so this should be fairly easy. Might not be able to finish this post as I am at work.
King Moknokk glares at Horgun and lets out a screech, and Horgun feels his shield start to reverberate (Will Save to stave off the spell). He then jumps down from his perch and moves into the baboons yelling at them. (Moves to H4)
Janos readies his spear to attack anyone who comes within the doorframe.
One of the baboons screeches and steps forward, biting and browbeating Horgun. (5ft step to F3, Janos' spear attack goes)
Will finish later

GM Fireclaw |

As the pugwampi king moves forward, Horgun and Janos once again feel that unnatural tension in the air. (Unluck Aura radius is 20ft from Moknokk, will draw the aura on the map)
Janos lashes out with his spear as the baboon steps forward, awkwardly reaching around the door frame (+2 cover bonus to AC).
Janos' spear: 2d20 ⇒ (15, 2) = 17 for a total of 2.
Janos is unable to find purchase with his spear and sticks it straight into the doorframe. The baboon bites at Horgun.
Baboon 3's bite: 2d20 + 3 ⇒ (10, 19) + 3 = 32 for a total of 13.
Horgun's armor isn't just for show, and the bite finds only hard metal to chew.
Another baboon moves straight past Horgun, to attack Jesail! (Provoking an AoO from both Horgun and Janos)
Baboon 4's bite: 2d20 + 3 ⇒ (3, 12) + 3 = 18 for a total of 6.
The offending Baboon almost trips on a piece of debris as he attacks, eliciting a laugh from the King.
Jesail's turn, you can use the same roll to make your attack, but if you use a ranged attack now, you are in danger of an AoO, please let me know what you wanna do.
Updated Combat Map
The aura is approximate, but any square touched is affected.

Horgun Flintnose |

Will save of 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Horgun stands fast and calls behind to the others, "If ye got anything to shoot damn that damned cursed creature, now be the time for it." He levels a swing at the baboon's head, then forsakes the protection of his shield as he follows up with a spiked slam.
Full attacking with two weapons. First attack at baboon 3, 2d20 + 2 ⇒ (14, 3) + 2 = 19 for a total of 5 doing 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 damage.
Second attack with the spiked shield. Same target if the first didn't kill it, baboon 1 if it does. Attack is 2d20 + 2 ⇒ (9, 3) + 2 = 14 for a total of 5 doing 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 damage.

GM Fireclaw |

I realize Jesail said he might be missing so we'll go forward and hopefully he doesn't mind.
Horgun feels the magic start to splinter his shield before throwing it off through force of will. (No actual damage to the shield)
Jesail realizes that shooting against such a small target through the melee would be difficult and so instead takes a step back and the much easier shot to the baboon right in front of him. The bolt strikes true and the baboon crumples.
Aakim's deep voice rings forward, resonating through the stone hallway.
Horgun's footing isn't steady as he strikes out against the enemy in front of him.
Chee the black circle is a statue, I'm assuming that's what you meant to climb?
Chee scrambles on to the statue's platform and throws a bomb into the midst of the enemy.
Reflexs saves:
Baboon 1: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (8, 16) + 4 = 28 FAIL 6 damage
Baboon 2: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7 FAIL 6 damage
Baboon 3: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (20, 8) + 4 = 32 FAIL 6 damage
Baboon 6: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (8, 12) + 4 = 24 FAIL 6 damage
King Moknokk:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24PASS only 3 damage
Well THAT certainly cleaned the map up. I'm giving partial credit to Moknokk on that one.
Chee's bomb sails true and explodes in the center of the enemy. The screeching of the baboons is terrible as the fire washes over them, and the quiet after is made even more unnatural by the laughing of the pugwampi.
New Initiative:
King Moknokk
Janos, Jesail, Aakim, Chee, Horgun
Baboon 5
The remaining baboon is scared senseless and tries to flee out the room, jumping over the combatants, but leaving himself open enough for Horgun to strike. (Can take an AoO against him)
Acrobatics (DC23): 2d20 + 10 ⇒ (18, 8) + 10 = 36
The lone remaining pugwampi yells at the thing in anger, before charging Horgun with his oversized warhammer:
"Get back here and fight you damn dirty ape!"
Round 2
Warhammer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 (1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2)
The pugwampi is clearly having trouble holding the hammer properly, but the momentum of the charge helps him enough to slam the hammer down on Horgun's toe. 2 damage
Alright, everyone's turn again. Baboon 5 is screaming as he runs down the hallway, clearly not a threat.
