Roll20 is updated and you should both have access to moving your tokens. Also, there's a Roll20 link in the header, so you can click on that for easy access if you need it. The wolves within the tree line do have concealment against ranged attacks, but if you close into melee range there's enough firelight to see them and attack without penalty.
Also Marcus, could you throw your stats in the header? I ended up going to your character sheet for initiative, and it looks like you've got it in the name slot so it doesn't show up on the Gameplay page.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

The link in the header is not working for me.

Jon, The Evil DM |

It's a link directly to the game page, so it won't work if you're not logged in on Roll20. I usually just leave myself logged in, so it's not a problem. I'd suggest trying that, and if you continue to have issues I can see if there's a better way to link it.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

Prophet I was eating when I read your ooc comment and I just want you to know that you made me almost choked. Thank you. I needed the laugh after the crummy day at work.

Jon, The Evil DM |

Hey all, I hope life is treating you well.
I've taken another shot at reaching out to Creon, this time through Roll20 as I know he runs games on there and has purchased a Pro membership. I'm hoping that perhaps I might get a response there even if I haven't gotten one here, so hopefully I get in contact with him soon. I mentioned to him that his spot is still open if he wants it, and that if he wants to show up at some point in the future I'll have him rejoin you all. More importantly, I mentioned that we were all hoping he wasn't having some sort of terrible health problem. If I don't hear back from him, I think I'll start looking for a replacement around the time you all finish this side quest, so they can join you when you head back to the Trading Post. I'll still keep Creon's spot open--I'll just take a game of seven players--but that way we're back to six which is around the number I generally like to have for games.
If it comes to that, I'll definitely look to you all in getting opinions as to his 'replacement'. I'll probably tell people whom I already have and ask them to build a character that fills a missing niche in the party or that they think will mesh nicely. When and if that happens, I'll direct you all to Recruitment so you can talk to any and all prospective characters.
-----
On another note, I hope everyone's given some thought as to what kingdom roles you want to take up once we get to that point in the game. While you aren't there yet, you are narrowing in on attacking the Stag Lord and beginning your kingdom. If you all have ideas or want to confer with me about this, you can talk about it here in Discussion or shoot me a PM, either way. I'd like to have a vague sense of what people are after before we get there, so give it some thought in the coming weeks.
Anyway, I hope you all have a happy holiday season and enjoy yourselves.

Jon, The Evil DM |

I've been waiting on Theo, and since it was the holidays I figured he was busy with family. I'm going to bot him for this round though, and get us moving again. I assume he'll post in soon enough after the New Year or some such. I checked around his aliases and it looks like posting stopped (for the most part) around December 23rd, just before the holidays. I'll shoot him a PM to make sure everything's on the up and up, but I imagine he'll be back soon. I know I found it hard to find time to post over the holidays. However, I'm home until more or less the end of January and next semester is, amusingly enough, looking far less busy than the last one, so my posting will finally be more frequent and regular.
As a note, after the New Year I will be opening Recruitment for this game to fill Creon's slot; it's been two months since he posted and I have a feeling he won't be showing up again. I am going to take at least one person, possibly more... I want to know everyone's thoughts on party size for this game. Kingmaker can function with a larger party better than some other games, so I'm not adverse to going as high as eight if everyone else is okay with that. Also, I know Kingmaker is a very popular AP on the boards and many people don't get the chance to play in it because of that. Again, though, I'd like to know your thoughts on kingdom roles before I open recruitment so new people aren't stepping on toes. If you don't have access to the kingdom rules, let me know and I'll get you the list and what they do so we can talk about it. I will of course ask everyone's opinions on recruitment submissions, and also let you know my personal favorites so you can weigh in. When re-recruiting for games, I find it best to give you all a voice in the decision making process.

Annika Valarius |

There's a lot of them. Ruler, Consort (aka Ruler's spouse), Councilor, High Priest, General, Grand Diplomat, Marshal, Royal Enforcer, Spymaster, Warden, Treasurer, and I think there might be one or two more.
Markus would probably be a good Enforcer or Marshal, since they both benefit from good Dex.

Jon, The Evil DM |

Here is a link to everything on kingdom building on the PF SRD. With Marcus's stats, he logically works for the Marshal, Royal Enforcer, Spymaster, or Warden roles. Those all allow you to add either Dexterity or Constitution to one of the Kingdom's stats, so logically Marcus is a good fit for those. Roleplaying wise, I can see a variety of different choices for Marcus as well. If you have any questions about what those different kingdom stats do, you SHOULD be able to find it on the SRD. If not, let me know.
All kingdom roles players don't want to take will be handled by NPCs in the background, so no worries about that. If I end on taking more players than just six, obviously less roles will be filled by NPCs in the long run.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

Damn, I am sorry. I did not mean to fall behind. I must have opened the page before the holidays with the intent to post after work and just passed out, winter has been uncommonly busy. Then later I saw no posting happen and honestly forgot in the chaos that was my holiday. My bad and I apologize. I will try not to do it again. Once my turn is up I will get to battle the Werewolf that is trying to maul me.

Jon, The Evil DM |

It's no problem, I've had the same thing happen to me more than once. I just wanted to make sure it was a bit of the holiday madness taking over and not anything else. I'm about to update here in a moment, so you'll be up in combat again.
As for party size, I know eight people can be a bit much--I know the problems we had with Keepers, trust me--but I feel it might not be as bad in a play-by-post format. Especially when it comes to a game like Kingmaker, where a lot of the movement and momentum is going to be based on the players because you're largely out in the wilderness for large swaths of time. However, if you all share the sentiment that eight people is too large, I'll likely not do it. It also really depends on what people submit, since if I don't see enough submissions I really like I won't be picking people who I'm not happy with. I'm considering asking if anyone is interested in taking over Creon as a character, and requiring a role-playing sample as opposed to building a character themselves. I'm a bit tentative on it, but if Creon doesn't reappear after the holidays, I kind of doubt we'll see him again.
Also, I probably won't put up recruitment until I hear back about kingdom roles. I'll be putting them up in the thread so everyone knows what roles are taken; I'll also be asking them to apply FOR a role as well.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

Might be a dumb question but how do I get the rolld20 website to let me stay logged in?

Jon, The Evil DM |

I'm not sure, I've actually been having issues with it lately myself. I'm going to look into seeing if there's a better way of dealing with that problem, or otherwise I'll just provide a quick link to roll20's home page so it's quicker to get there.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

ok

Marcus Cowl |

Just discovered that apparently erasing marks on the map is something only the GM can do in roll20. That seems like a poor design.
GM, the big red circle is the area the chains can reach. They are anchored to the ceiling in the center of the circle.
The rest are mistakes I made while trying to figure out how to make a circle. Please erase them.

Jon, The Evil DM |

Nah, I'm gonna leave all your crappy circles. Your request is DENIED.
In reality, that is a really stupid design choice. Why allow players to create marks on the map if they can't erase them? I wonder if there's a setting I can mess with that fixes that. I would rule that's a telekinetic blast, I think, but I don't think you can actually miss the target AC, and since you can hammer a piton into stone I'm not super worried about you rolling damage to bypass its hardness. We'll just say you succeed. I'm gonna say you can either use telekinetic blast or finesse to physically latch the traps onto someone. If you make a blast, you need to hit their actual AC, but they take your blast damage plus the potential trap damage. On the other hand, telekinetic finesse only requires a Touch Attack to hit, but lacks the blast damage. Also, they obviously remain a standard action for the first, and move action for the second. Sounds fair?

Jon, The Evil DM |

Also, something I forgot I wanted to mention: I was talking with Prophet earlier, and he had forgotten he had a Stamina pool. While stamina has neat effects based on your feats, you can also straight-up spend it to add it as a bonus to attack rolls. If you're fairly certain you're within a point or two of an enemy's AC, spending stamina in order to hit them is probably a good idea. I wanted to remind everyone just because Prophet had forgotten and I wasn't sure if everyone else remembered they had it.
I've been working on compiling a list of house rules that I'll link on my GM alias that will include such things. It'll be up in a few days, and I'll keep a link to it in the header on all my posts.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

I was actually going to ask you about that. Am I correct in assuming that the stamina pool does not help with combat maneuver? Since I am going to try to bull rush the werewolf into the bear traps. And you have a house rule that we can spend them retroactively if we think we might miss after the roll? Because I will totally do that.

Jon, The Evil DM |

You can spend stamina points after the rolls by RAW if you think you missed, but after I reveal the results of the roll you're no longer allowed to spend them. You can roll, decide you feel you didn't do well enough, and then spend some stamina points in order to try and turn it into a success. This is especially useful if you've deduced about where an enemy's CMD or AC is and can boost your roll enough to hit that mark. I will rule that stamina does work for CMB as that makes sense to me.
However, I'm not sure I'd say that a bull rush would successfully activate the bear traps. At this point, they're open and hanging from the ceiling, meaning that the teeth of the trap are pointed at the floor. You would have the push the werewolf hard enough that they swung back and hit it with the teeth exposed for the pressure plate to activate. It just seems unlikely that it would work like that, but if one of you somehow held the bear trap up and the other shoved the werewolf into it the trap would then trigger.
Answer to how high the cave is will be in my Gameplay post.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

We do have a big Half Orc who could maybe do that, maybe. Also I added some point to my hit.

Jon, The Evil DM |

That's very true. Also, keep in mind that you do add the higher of your Dexterity or Strength to CMB automatically, as if you had Agile Maneuvers. You also count as having Agile Maneuvers for Combat Stamina, even if you use Strength. That'll be in my house rule list.
EDIT: Holy sh*t, when did it get to be 6 AM? Time for me to sleep, guys.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

So should I not bother with the trying to shove the Werewolf? Cause that will be painful.

Jon, The Evil DM |

To be frank, the werewolf is already caught by Marcus's trap from his telekinetic blast. Shoving it probably won't do much, but you could continue to attack it until it dies. In addition, Rollin is still doing pretty well for himself on HP, so that might be a threat you want to take care of.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

I missed that the werewolf was already caught.

Jon, The Evil DM |

Hey guys, just letting you know I've opened Recruitment. Feel free to pop in and introduce yourselves if you wish; if you know the answer to a question someone asks also feel free to answer it. Let me know your thoughts in characters as they come in, or whenever you feel like it.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

I am assuming the Werewolf is helpless so a coup de grace could be done?

Jon, The Evil DM |

Actually, it isn't helpless at the moment. It can still attack you with its bite, and it is capable of moving/struggling against you. That said, it is denied its Dexterity bonus to AC and has a -3 from wound penalties, so it's not hard to hit. If you want to attack, no attack roll is necessary.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

And that is why I ask. Well I have that smite evil still on it, till it is dead or I take a nap. I figure that has a mental pull to need to get rid of the target.

Annika Valarius |

It's a puzzle boss, like that dragon priest who won't take damage until you kill the ghost mages putting a force field around him.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

My vote is the reverse Peter Pan. We cut its shadow off :)

Jon, The Evil DM |

If only you could, this whole side-quest would have been a lot easier.
Also, we've started to get some completed submissions in the Recruitment thread. I compiled a list of them in one of my most recent posts, with links to all fluff and crunch that has been provided to me. I'd appreciate you all taking a look at what we have so far and giving me your thoughts; you can do it here if you want to, or PM me if you'd rather not have it in Discussion for the potential new recruits to see. I'm gonna keep Recruitment open until probably the 14th or 15th, unless I get a lot of new interest in the next few days and I'll keep it open as long as I originally planned to.
PS: Someone has volunteered to take over Creon 18, and we're all pretty familiar with him (other than Gallidren), and he gave a submission of how he'd possibly roleplay Creon. I thought it was pretty good.

Jon, The Evil DM |

Storyteller Shadow offered to take over Creon, and having now been involved in 3 games with him with him as both a GM and a fellow player, I was very happy to see that he was willing to come onboard with an already established character. I've been in contact with him via PM; since no one else has offered to take on Creon and I not only know him but he had an excellent RP sample for the character, he's as good as picked already. He's gonna be reading through the Gameplay thread where Creon was active in order to get a better feel for the character and join in with any of the other new recruits.
As for MisterLurch, I'm very much intrigued by his character's backstory and motivations, and he seems like a blast to RP with. On that front, I was strongly considering him. My concern, however, is that as a Ranger I'm not sure he'll have very much to contribute to the party that's unique. That's perhaps my biggest concern with his character and makes me hesitant about bringing him in. The same goes for Emissary of the North's character; he mentioned a Ranger/Gunslinger, and while that would be a fun and interesting combination I'm not sure it will do enough to aid the party itself. I've played with him quite a bit and I always love his characters and the way he plays, but I want to make sure everyone contributes something special.
Aside from those two, I think at the moment I'm the most fond of Kahurangi and perhaps Orvin. Someone has just posted in with an investigator that I haven't had time to review, so no thoughts on that yet.

Marcus Cowl |

You might ask the rangers if they could do the same basic ideas for a character with a different class.
Our party has a lot of fighty oomph, but very little in the social and magical arenas. Pretty much any kind of caster would be nice.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

I have not had a chance to go though most of the characters and I will try to tomorrow. I am more than thrilled that Storyteller Shadow is wanting in as Creon. I found Creon fascinating and Storyteller shadow is awesome!
I will agree that casters would probably be very helpful. Not that I saw a lot of full casters.
Also in response to saying that Prophet is super violent I am going to say that he just needs more hugs :)

Jon, The Evil DM |

I would not recommend trying to hug Prophet; have you seen those tusks? You'll poke your eye out, kid.
I agree on the note of full casters especially, but social skills is a good place to shore up as well. Kingmaker has surprisingly few social encounters for a game about building kingdoms, but a number of things designed by both myself and other people on the forums does make them more prevalent. I haven't seen a huge selection of full casters either--and one of them that did apply hasn't changed their stat block from the 6th level version--but hopefully either some people switch or we see some more of them come in soon. I know that Gallidren was at least originally planning to play around with a lot of ray spells at higher levels so that will have some combat magic, but for things like healing or buffing (or debuffing, for that matter) another caster would be quite helpful.

Theodore 'Greyhawk' Iscariot |

You would think a game like this would have lots of social stuff and yay for adding stuff. And I should be a decent healer in time!.. But extra is nice. A party buffer would be good. I did see a druid and they have some fun battle field control spells in their list.
And I could move my head out of the way. He just needs hugs.

Jon, The Evil DM |

Yeah, surprisingly there aren't a huge amount of social encounters in this AP as written... speaking of which, I need to read up on the Social Encounter rules from Ultimate Intrigue. I have no idea how they work, but if I like them I may implement them into this game for such occasions that they'd be necessary.
As a side note, I forgot to mention something that has been long overdue; my GM alias now includes a link to a Google Drive document containing all of my house rules. If you want to double check your character and make sure everything's on the up and up, feel free. Also, if you know we talked about a house rule that's somewhere on your character sheet, please let me know.
