Hey guys, I'm starting up the discussion thread first, to mention a few things. Most importantly, I'm using some of the new rules from Pathfinder Unchained (ask me about it if you don't have it, I'll send you the PDF), specifically these few:
--Background Skills
--Removing Iterative Attacks
--Wound Thresholds
--Diseases and Poisons
Everything else in the book is stuff I'm not using, but certainly read up on these alternate rules. Also, a couple house rules I use people may not know:
--Dexterity automatically applies to attack and damage, if applicable.
--Classes such as fighter and paladin begin play with 4 + Int modifier skill points per level.
--Certain feats are no longer prerequisites for other feats, such as Combat Expertise for Improved ________, Endurance for Diehard, etc. When looking at feats, check with me to make sure I haven't removed, or even added, some prerequisites.
Other than that, we'll just use this forum for basic discussion of the game, any extensive OOC questions or concerns, and for silly jokes. Obviously.

Posting to track. Jon, do Summoners also get 4+Int skills, as they're normally a 2 class? Just checking.
Background skills are in the profile, I'm working through typing up the actual backstory to get that in the profile as well. Also, I forgot that I'm planning to grab the half-orc racial trait that gives Endurance as a feat since it's actually helpful now, so that'll be added in... Basically, he's ready to go, but not in his final form just yet.

Yeah, no problem. Actually, same for me. I'm playing in another campaign where my character's name is Valaria Alazario, so I might hit the wrong one an not notice.

One more note for all of you; while at the table I am sometimes known to fudge the dice in favor of the players, that option isn't really available to me, considering the way the forums work. Basically, the dice are gonna fall where the dice are gonna fall. That said, I may intervene in very specific cases; if something exponentially silly happens, I'll probably decide to re-roll for the sake of not dealing with absolutely stupid situations.
Having said that, addressing character death; adventure paths are often known to be a bit deadly at lower levels, so it is possible that until you get a few levels under your belt, we may lose a couple of party members. If anyone does die, I invite you to make a new character if you wish, however I also understand if you'd rather bow out.

Oh, I can say from personal experience that APs can have weirdly lethal moments at low levels. I'll work up a back-up just in case at some point.
Jon, The Evil DM
"Prophet"
Yeah, APs can be rough. Running Jade Regent at home, the group just got to the Tsutamu fight (a samurai skeleton early on). The oracle got hit with a critical in the first round and dropped to -6 hp, and if I hadn't given the group Sandru as backup AND fudged dice, it probably would've been a TPK.
Annika Valarius
Oh, that guy. The same thing happened when I ran Jade Regent solo for my sister. He crit round one and put her down to -8. Fortunately, I had Shalelu, Sandru and Ameiko there as DMPCs.
"Prophet"
Yep. But we all learned an important lesson: when your party consists of a Sorcerer, Oracle, and Rogue, it doesn't matter if you're high enough level. A martial boss can f*ck you up.
Annika Valarius
Good lesson to learn. Another lesson I learned from Jade Regent is that if a weapon only crits on a 20, it is statistically more likely to crit than an 18-20 weapon if it will screw over the players. The book 2 boss one-hit killed my sister with a crit with a tetsubo.

While I figure it should be obvious: I ask you not to read the spoilers for other characters. Information in spoilers is privy only to those whose name is listed in the spoiler tag. If you DO read it, just acknowledge that this is out-of-character knowledge, and your character has no idea that another character has realized this until they tell you.
Jon, The Evil DM
Not really. I will assume, much as I do for Ilamin in our game at school, that you retrieve any arrows that you can. If/when you start collecting magical arrows, I will ask that you keep track of those, as it may not always be possible to retrieve them. I'll let you know, in regards to magical arrows, whether or not they can be retrieved.

There isn't a "roof" within the trading post. It's open to the air. There are several buildings within it, such as the guest quarters, the stables, the home you are currently in, but it isn't sealed off from the elements.
The walls themselves also do not have a ceiling of any sort, although the parapets on the corners of the fort do, with the exception of the one that has fallen over. That said, anywhere outside the buildings in the fort is outside.

As a note to you all: I will be unable to post for a few days next week, as I will be traveling and have no internet. I'm leaving on the 29th, and will not have internet again until the night of July 1st. About a week later, I will again be unable to post. Starting the night of July 7th, until the night of July 8th.
I'll be picking up Rachel to bring her down her for about a week for 4th of July, and then I'll be taking her back up to SU so she can get back to work. During the week, I'll be off work, so I WILL be able to post.

Quick question for all of you: I want to know about your character's weapons. More specifically, I want to know if your characters are particularly attached to their weapons, or if it wouldn't bother them to swap out for some new magical toy they find while exploring. It's perfectly fine with me if your character picked up his sword from the local blacksmith, but if you're wielding a sword your family has passed down for generations, I don't want you to have to swap it out for a +1 bonus.
Just let me know whether you'd rather "upgrade" your weapon as the game goes on, or if your character wouldn't mind just swapping to a newer model. This doesn't have to be a group consensus, by the way; some of you can pick up new swords on your travels while the rest have them enchanted. This also goes for other gear your character wears as well; if you want to keep your armor, backup weapons, etc. just let me know.
Annika Valarius
My particular weapon doesn't really mean a lot, so as long as any new weapon is still a dueling sword I'd be willing to trade out. Anything else is fine.
"Prophet"
Prophet's sword is an old relic of the temple he stayed at for a while, and while he probably wouldn't admit it himself--if he even realizes it at all--he is pretty attached to it. I'd rather get the opportunity to enchant it than simply trade it in.

Theodore Greyhawk Iscariot
I imagine Theo's weapon was probably a gift to commemorate his graduation or assignment to some position. He's probably fond of it, but wouldn't be opposed to a new, stronger weapon.
Jon, The Evil DM
Also, for all those interested in using it, I have decided to also allow Combat Stamina to be used for all classes, without any need to take the feat.
Gallidren and Creon, I'll be shooting the two of you PMs letting you know how you'll be brought into the game, and it should be rather shortly.
Jon, The Evil DM
Just as a note to everyone, I would request in the future that whenever writing up posts, if you aren't particularly interested in investigating anything and are ready to move along, please indicate it in character? This makes it so I'm not the only person responsible for moving the plot forward, and that I don't accidentally move past something you guys want to investigate.
Simply saying something like "Come on, we ought to get moving" or something to that effect would be fine, but ideally just try and indicate to me you guys are ready to move along, so that we don't have days where I'm waiting for people to post, only to realize you're all ready to move along.
