Katataban's dead suns (SFS)

Hi,

After a long hiatus on the boards I'm looking to run the Starfinder AP 'Dead suns'

I'm looking for 4-5 relatively active players who can post at least three times a week. (Preferably spread out, not three posts on one day and then nothing for the other six)

As i would like to play this as an SFS game (if and when it will be possible to register it as such, which I assume will be before the conclussion of the game) I would like to ask players to create SFS characters using the guide and with an SFS number attached.

I'm potentially interested katataban, apart from the posting requirement and SFS compliant characters, what are your other criteria for selecting players?

I used to have a long line of requirements for characters in my game, but I feel that now, with a new game and the fact that this is SFS, I will mostly be picking characters first come first serve, unless they're really bad. I will however attempt to make a balanced party, so if the first five applicants are all operatives, some of them may get skipped.

Hi my name is Mark, I'm a 39 year old RPG guy. Currently I play in one 5E game on Roll20, DM 2 5E games (one Roll20, one in person). I have a small amount of experience with Pathfinder, but the world of Starfinder intrigues me. I love to explore the worlds in RPG's (Eberron is my favorite setting in D&D, with Dark Sun coming in second) and I would love to explore the Pact Worlds. I've never played Play-by-Post, but I have chunks of time through the week that I could devote to playing and it would work best for me at this time, seeing as how many games I have going now.

I tend to play melee support characters (ie clerics) so I am drawn to the Solarian class, Xenoseeker (?), Kasathas. I see him as slightly gruff and aloof, but a strong friend. Cautious, but brave.

I could also see the technomancer filling a melee support role as well (with some feat investment), Scholar would probably be a better fit here. I could see the Lashunta fitting really well, but maybe Kasathas as well (main stats don't work here, but I like the idea of a character who is trying to catch his culture up tech wise). Not so sure about personality until I figure the race out, but it's something I could easily do.

Anyway, I could post character ideas all day. If nothing fits, I'll figure something out. I look forward to hearing from you, and thanks for reading my dribblings.

Cool; I'm still reading the rules (slowly) and have got as far as mechanic. I think I'd like to play a soldier or maybe technomancer for this one.

Thanks for showing interest. As I've stated I will be very open to any character so don't worry too much about fitting in. To be honest, as much as I love the AP's paizo brings out, the difficulty level tends to be so low there is no need to worry about optimalisation.

Just bring me the character you want to play. Solarians do pique my interest, especially with all the bad rap they're getting for 'being so weak'. But in the end, it is your character so go with what you prefer.

Great katataban. I am going to go with a soldier concept, looking at races and fighting style.

I'm interested. I'm thinking a mechanic or a technomancer seem interesting. I'm also ok with coming up with something to balance the party. Seeing as though we are all new to SFS I'm currently and slowly reading through the rules.

sounds good. And yeah, we're all new, so there'll be mistakes along the way, but hey those things happen.

Would love to get my feet wet in Starfinder.

His stats are set and his simple backstory is set.

I'm interested in joining with a Mystic, probably Healer connection.

I'll look at what everyone else is planning, but I have an ace pilot android operative (ghost) that I pretty much have completed shy of equipment!

The general concept will be mobile in combat, bouncing about from opponent to opponent using pistol/knife.

I have a Android Operative Concept done up already. I have the adventure path and will be running it whether I like it or not for friends so if that counts me out fair enough.

I made the character for GM Dimketry's recruitment but he has another operative android applicant so I expect he wouldn't mind if I bowed out.

Haha, true Kevin! There's just something very Ghost in the Shell about the concept. I actually want to really play up the whole concept of multiple souls sharing the same body and gender identity. I plan on playing this android referring to itself as We and Us, and preferring people use pronouns like them or they.

I keep thinking that should be "404" and the operative would have the ghost specialization. And you could roll stealth and then "404 - could not be found".

At this point I'm planning on a Shirren Soldier, probably hit and run style, maybe sharpshooter.

Planning on the "I made a thing!" Technomancer. For those... hard to reach places.

Does this AP assume any particular background or affiliation for the characters? Should we start out knowing each other, or as members of a particular organisation?

I made this SFS character for 'the commencement', which I think is okay to play alongside the AP, since it will be done long before we earn any xp for the adventure path, right? (I've only ever done society play once before so I don't know much)

I think he's rather complete, so let me know if there's a problem or something and I'll make something else.

@ Mothman. You can choose any faction. Players are allowed to know each other if they so wish. All that is basically required is that you're trying to become a Starfinder society member. Those who get picked and have already played a scenario will have retrograde amnesia I guess.

@hush. I double checked. Unfortunately only those races described in chapter 3 are allowed at this point per the SFS guild guide.

There will be plenty of tables playing this AP without SFS rules though, and Elves are no problem there.

A possible thought: if Hush doesn't mind not getting SFS credit (and the GM is okay with it); I believe he could play an elf?
