"Ummm. Do you know how many bird men? ...and it looks like there was a longship." Myri indicates the ruined boat's direction. "What happened to those who were on it?"
not alot, but enough.
somenumber boatpeople got killed by seadrake. rest went castleward. did not backreturn. She grimaces. birdmen, guessing.

Mel jumps slightly at Ameiko's name, and then continues to watch Spivey.
Note: if the aura is caused by a spell then Mel is SOL (since that requires a K:arcana roll.)
3rd Round: The strength and location of each aura. And Spellcraft/K:arcana roll as needed. GM choice on where to begin.
Melinda Sorn
Since you implied the auras might be due to magic items (which I can identify) I was continuing to see if I could identify properties (via spellcraft). Also why I mentioned the no K:arcana since I reread the spell last night.

Myri's brow crinkles, "Ummm...well, she's a very good person, took care of her mother for years and years...but I guess not strong enough to take care of Ameiko, ...she's...she won't wake up."
her best spell, Spivey says patiently. deadraising? curing of the minorhurts? the small restoration? how good.
Kalimac Proudfoot
Her head whips towards Kalimac.
ei ole naljakas, she says sharply. sõbrad on ära söödud.
Red-faced, Kalimac responds, "Minu sügavaimad vabandused. Ma mõtlesin ei ole kuritegu. Pakun minu sümpaatia oma langenud seltsimehi."
Diplomacy (to salvage his impression): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Spivey cocks her head towards Melinda why you ask?
Mel smiles at the little creature, Because we were warned to 'beware the birds who wish to fly but cannot.' How long have you been here? Did you know Rokuro Kaijitsu? Or even... Mel waves her hand vaguely at the crypt.

ah, says Spivey. no, they are earthbound birds except for leaderman and girlfriend. so beware, guessing
She shakes her head. been here ten earthcycles. found temple, tried to fix, but ... she sighs. birdmen. so i tend graveyardshrine. they not come here. think it is haunted by vengefulghost. She grins at you. boo.

Mel chuckles, You must make an impressive ghost. Are they cautious about all such supranatural happenings?
Melinda Sorn
She shrugs. not secretweakness, or anything, if that's your hiddenmeaning.
More just a 'wouldn't that useful to know'. She pauses, If we can, she motions to the castle, And Ameiko gets better, we should help you with the temple. Almost to herself.
She smiles at the group, seeing if anyone else (like the poor druid stuck at work) can think of more relevant things to speak to Spivey about.

Spivey shakes her head again. wouldn't stay here. ten earthcycles too long for desnan to stay still. but can't leave graveyard while birdmen in castle, they would poop on graveyardshrine. frustrating. waiting for sign.
maybe sign is you get rid of them. hope you notdie.

Chastened, but glad his apology took, Kalimac seems a little more eager to join in the discussion. "Maybe we are the sign. And I hope we notdie, too. To help us notdie, can you tell us anything more about 'leaderman and girlfriend'?"

She considers, pursing her lips. think they are arguing. haven't seen them together in longwhile. don't know if that helps you.
She considers a bit further. leaderman likes to hear himself talk, she finally says.

Five minute break
Hrithik asks, "Are there any ways in to the castle other than the main road? Secret passages? Caverns? Are there any "ten-armed" monsters ruled by fear? Any more good folk such as yourself?"
Realizing that was a barrage, he adds, "We seek the legacy of one of the Lords here. Owner of the glassworks, defender of the town. It is possible the Birdmen are part of the enemies he feared when this place was destroyed 30 earthcycles ago."

"So manipulation rather than honesty for Reta? [...] I don't know if disdain is the right word, but gods know I can't tell what other people feel. [...] But, yes, on the second point. Need to work on the prioritization of personal concerns myself, but..."
"No. Not manipulation. Actual, radical honesty. It has to come from him. All of it. He signed up to be her parent. Not you. Not me. Not Koya. Not the rest of the team. Him. All of it needs to genuinely come from him, or we might as well drop her at the next goblin tribe we find or send her into a pack of wild dogs, because if it doesn't come from him, it is never going to work. I had that Lesson already.
"He needs to ask me to make the items. He needs to arrange their pickup. He needs to check that they do what I say they do. He needs to make clear their importance to him, so she understands. He needs to block out the time and make the project entirely his. He needs to be her Father, in the human sense, not an absentee guardian forever having innumerable priorities ahead of her."
"If he can't do that, she's going to continue driving this tale, and he's going to eventually be the Fairy Tale Prince who has to choose between the heroine and the enchantress, consigning the other one to her grisly fate."

That is not what you said earlier. That is honesty, the before was manipulation. Her voice goes quiet, And I figured out the last part this morning, thank you.

"Well, I think we're going to look over a few things in the village and then head up to the castle. I...I know this isn't a suitable gift for you, but...maybe just something to remember us by in..in case we don't come back from raiding the castle." Myri offers the 'celestial-sprite thingy' the item she was going to use as her foundmark. "I hope we are successful so you may resume your travels."
