Valen Stellori
Valen calls on Bless to bolster Alexa & Smith against whatever they are facing.
+1 to attack rolls and saving throws vs. fear
Range is a 50' burst - so don't know if that is enough to also affect Vaughn, Madeline, and Weehawk as well.
Alexa Grunwald
That would be my preference. Definitely the girl since she is already injured. You indicated that the red eyed creatures were around the outside of the clearing. With a 40' radius, I should be able to get a lot of them.

My apologies for not having a better map. When I transferred my software from my old Mac Mini to my new one, CS4 wouldn't port over. So I had to buy CS5. I tried to load it last night and realized, in an epic moment of derp, that I didn't have a CD reader, which I subsequently had to order to load the software. So, for the time being, I'm going to have to look for alternatives or hope my descriptive power does the job....
As your group looks around the clearing, time slows. Alexa, Smith, and Valen seem less surprised than the rest of you and spring into action immediately, Alexa stepping dropping to a knee, grabbing a handful of rocks, and tossing them into the air as she starts speaking what you've come to learn are the ancient druidic words of her woodland magic.... She casts the stones up in the air and, before your eyes, they enlarge and expand, thrusting violently downward just to the north of you. Cries of pain echo out, but none of the red eyes disappear.
Valen, on his turn, reaches down to his chest, lifts his holy symbol, and engulfs all of you in the soft grey light of Pharasma's stern judgement. He calls upon her blessing, his eyes silver with power, and you all feel it radiate around you. You are all blessed.
No sooner does Valen finish his spell, two shadow like creatures that appear to have once lived, fly out into the clearing. One attacks Valen, attempting to touch him. The other, Alexa.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 vs. Valen's touch AC. 1d6 ⇒ 6 strength dmg if it hits.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 vs. Alexa's touch AC. 1d6 ⇒ 3 strength dmg if it hits.
Smith acts last, confused and delayed, suddenly stepping over the wounded girl and takes up guard. Madeline didn't roll initiative for Smith, so he's going on the average (11).
Finally, at the end of the round, chanting erupts from around the clearing.
As the spells are completed, a man in dark robes steps out into the clearing, raises a skull into the air, and channels negative energy into the clearing. He deals 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 negative energy damage to everyone in the clearing, 1/2 if they make a Will save (DC 12).
Then, he looks directly at Vaghn and says, "Give us the books professor...."
Round 1
Alexa Grunwald
Feeling the undead touch, Alexa calls out:
Cold, so cold. Valen, call upon the grey lady to return these creatures to the grave.
Delay to see the outcome of what Valen might do.
Valen Stellori
Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Valen feels the channeled power of the man before them, but grits and continues forward at Alexa's request. "Grey Lady, give us your strength."
Channel Energy to affect shadows: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5) = 12
Alexa Grunwald
Will 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Alexa pulls a flask of holy water, her last one, from her pouch and opens it, sprinkling it upon the shadow before her.
Attack-touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 <-- -1 from norm due to strength drain
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
Vaghn der Grafft
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Spellcraft 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Aware of what malice is befalling them, but unable to determine from where it is coming from, Vaghn focuses on the obvious threat.
Vaghn narrows his eyes at the cultist. "Not going to happen."
This Round (1)
Standard action - Vaghn will attempt to trip the cultist 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 with his whip.
Move action - Vaghn moves within 15' of his target, drawing his whip as he does so.
other action - Might as well, Knowledge (religion) 21 to identify abilities of the shadows.
Next Round (2)
Standard action - Probably attempt to trip any casters he is aware of that are still on their feet.
Move action - Move into position.

Round 1
On 22 Vaghn moves to and trips the black robed caster.
On 21 Valen channels energy, targeting the two shadows in the clearing. They attempt to save. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Both save taking 6 points of damage.
On 21, Alexa attacks the shadow before her, hitting it with some holy water. She deals 4 points of positive energy damage to the one before her.
On 19, the two shadows attack, one moving from Valen and attacking Vaghn in defense of the black robed caster. The other remains in front of Alexa, its cold darkness attempting to enshroud her.
Shadow attacks Alexa 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 vs. Alexa's touch AC, dealing 1d6 ⇒ 4 strength damage if it hits.
Shadow attacks Vaghn 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 vs Vaghn's touch AC, dealing 1d6 ⇒ 6 strength damage if it hits.
The shadows do not seem to even acknowledge Smith. They do not seem overly fond of being close to Valen, either.
On 17 Weehawk draws his sword and charges Madeline. 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 dealing 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 if he hits. Weekhawk deals 14 points of damage to Madeline.
On 14, Madeline orders Smith to attack and moves to the girl.
On 11 Smith moves to the nearest enemy and attacks 1d3 ⇒ 3: On 1, it attacks Alexa's shadow. On 2, it attacks Vaghn's shadow. On 3, it attacks the prone caster. Smith moves over the caster, brings his maul high, and slams downward. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 vs. the prone caster's FF AC. He deals 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 points of damage if he hits.
Madeline Peshtussle
Madeline gasps in shock and surprise as the battle erupts, raising her sword into a classic 'guard' position she moves to take over the defending of the girl.
"Attack." Are her terse orders to Smith as she points to the enemy Magic User.
Initiative:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Will Save:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
She shudders as the fell magics wash over her. Then, as her ally attacks her from behind, her eyes open wider in shock and surprise. She turns, training shifting her pose into one of total defense.
"What...?"
Edit: Sorry, am between waking in the morning and getting ready for work. Total Defense at this time it is. *Bows*
(Madeline is very hurt and shifting to total defense to try and survive Master Weehawk's assault)
Next round it will be 'Cast Mage Armor'...followed by casting 'Bark Skin' the round after that. Madeline will attempt to 'Turn turtle'..assuming she survives.

Madeline; Here's how total defense works. You can either move away and cast or take the total defense option. You cannot do both. Also, I rolled for Smith because I assumed you had forgotten to. You need to call your targets, too. You can take my damage or yours, your call.

At the end of round 1...
The voices in the woods start to chant again. One calls out, Professor, give us the books... and we'll let some of you live.
The caster on the ground concentrates (1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 vs. DC 15) and, with a quick gesture, reaches forward and touches Smith (who just attacked him). 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 vs. Smith's touch AC, dealing 1d6 ⇒ 4 points of damage if he hits. He is considered armed with this attack and does not provoke an attack of opportunity.

Round 2....
On 22, Vaghn notices a cultist hidden in the woods and moves to trip him.
On 21, Valen...
On 21, Alexa..
On 19, the shadows...
On 17, Weehawk....
On 14, Madeline....
On 11, Smith....
On 7 the casters.....
Valen Stellori
Round 2
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Valen's eyes narrow in concentration - he can't place where the voices are coming from, but the sibilant whispers of magic don't escape his ears. "Be wary - they are using the chants to turn us against each other and masking their presences." Too dramatic? Should I state the spells out of context?
Assuming that Alexa is still closest by, Valen touches her to bolster her protection from the shadows. "Grey Lady's light bathe you."
Protection from Evil: +2 to AC; +2 to Saves from Evil creatures.
Madeline Peshtussle
Round 2:
Staying fully defensive Madeline attempts to bolster her armor against Master Weehawk.
"Thank you Master Valen. Glad I am that Master Weehawk's assault is nothing personal." She yells her reply and understanding.
So saying, staying as defensive as she can be while casting a spell with one hand and deflecting with a sword in the other. :P
Alexa Grunwald
Valen, if you want to retcon that, Channeling to harm the shadows is a much better choice. They are incorporeal, all that I have to hurt them with is one CLW, otherwise I have to cast Shillelagh to enchant my club.
I assume we would know about incorporeal creatures after the few we met in the prison.
'Smith'
Round 2:
Smith ignores the caster's attack and simply swings in response.
Att Roll:1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 = 12
Dam Roll:1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Though his weapon only slams into the ground beside his target as the man manages to wriggle to the side at the last moment.
Also..is there a bonus Vs the target being prone?
Yay! And the dice roller gives out numbers like a boss! :P
Valen Stellori
Valen, if you want to retcon that, Channeling to harm the shadows is a much better choice. They are incorporeal...
Fair point - if GM will allow, then change my Round 2 action to channeling again after making declaration.
"Grey Lady's light strike our foes."
Channel to affect shadows: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6) = 9
TheReplacementGM

Round 2
On 22, Vaghn moves to the edge of the woods and...
On 21, Valen calls upon the Grey Lady again, filling the small clearing with columns of grey, silvery light. Both strike the shadows, filling their incorporeal bodies with motes of silver judgement. The shadows attempt to resist the Grey Lady's power, however. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Will save vs. Valen's channel DC 14. They save, each taking 4 points of damage.
On 21, Alexa....
On 19, the shadows, enraged, both attack Valen.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 for 1d6 ⇒ 2 strength dmg and 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 for another 1d6 ⇒ 4 strength damage. Valen takes 6 points of strength damage. Valen appears very weak, as if his armor and equipment were dragging him down.
On 17, Weehawk...
On 14, Madeline casts defensively, attempting to armor herself against attacks, Madeline, I will need a concentration check, DC 17
On 11, Smith attacks the prone caster, hitting him and dealing 9 points of damage to him. The caster stops moving.
On 9, S'jeer attempts to protect the girl, drawing her weapon and saying, "What are these creatures?
On 7, the casters...

Concentration Check:1d20+2
Failed the check. Has she lost the spell?
Yes. That said, you should be rolling 1d20 and adding your level and your main ability score (the one linked to your spellcasting). So, you actually rolled a 8 and should have added 8. Please see your character sheet for more info. Still, a 16 isn't high enough, so you've lost the spell.
Weehawk Warmonger
Weehawks eyes clear, and his expression of rage is replaced by surprise and horror
Forgive me! I know not what overcame me, but it was not me! He says to Madeline
Weehawk turns and rushes towards the shadows attacking Valen
(not charging)
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 if it hits damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Alexa Grunwald
Will: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Alexa shakes off the evil caster's magic and then will call upon nature to destroy these creatures.
Use Place Magic for +1 CL
Cast CLW - Attach-touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
--> Should go off before the shadows attack
Vaghn der Grafft
Wow, lots of posts to catch up on!
Spellcraft 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Acrobatics 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Distracted, Vaghn does not quite make out the precise syllables used by the cultists in the undergrowth. Knowing them to be a direct threat, however, he leaves the one currently prone to be dealt with by his companions, and leaps into a roll to escape the reach of the vicious shadow creature. Once back on his feet, he sees that the caster is protected by magic and decides to utilize magic of his own rather than his whip.
This Round (2)
Move Action: Acrobatics to avoid AOO from shadow, move 15' toward sound of nearest cultist, bringing it within the radius of light spell.
Standard Action: Cast glitterdust DC 15 at target; if possible, attempt to center spell effect so that it includes second, as yet unseen caster as well.
Next Round (3)
Move to avoid AOO as necessary and attempt to trip cultist.

As round 2 continues...
Weehawk rushes one of the shadows attacking Valen and lands a solid blow, the magic of his blade flaring up as it connects with the incorporeal creature. He deals it 5 points of damage, enough to extinguish its unlife - the shadow screams and is no more.
At nearly the same time, Alexa quickly casts a healing spell, invoking the positive powers of nature... her hand glows green with the life force of the forest... and she reaches out, touching the remaining shadow. It reels back from the attack, but remains a threat.
Vaghn, having paused for only a moment, rolls away from the shadow and moves to the edge of clearing. He comes up, his whip in hand, and lets it loose. He targets the only visible threat and casts a spell. A wide circle of glittering dust falls from the trees, as if the leaves had been shaken free of all the moonlight in the area.... and illuminates a series of images, all mirrors, of a single caster. The man scowls in response, redoubling his efforts.
The visible caster attempts to save... 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10.
TheReplacementGM

And the caster fails. He scowls, all but screaming, unable to see beyond the glitter choking his vision. He stumbles backward and all but falls.
The other caster, still invisible, calls out to some dark power. A column of shadowy power fills the remaining shadow with life. channel negative energy to heal the remaining shadow. 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9.
And that ends round 3.
Round 3 actions please....
Alexa Grunwald
Not sure what else to do, Alexa takes a step back and calls upon the nature spirits to light this unholy abomination ablaze.
5-step away from the shadow (if necessary)
Place Magic - +1 CL
Cast Flaming Sphere at Shadow
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) = 6 <-- crappy damage, hopefully Weehawk can take it down
If I did not need a 5' move, Alexa will turn and head toward the blind caster. I have Feather Step Slippers, so the difficult terrain should not affect me.
Alexa Grunwald
I will be out most of tomorrow with family. Likewise, bot if necessary. My plan is to trip/grapple any caster I can get to. Hopefully Weehawk and Valen can take down the other shadow.
