Waiting for everyone to catch up before pressing forward...

Lugert, Half-orc Ranger |

Man, I'm sorry, I totally missed a bunch of posts, including the one where he leveled up. I'll make sure to update when I'm home this evening.

GM Wicked |

That's cool. I'm also interested in the reaction to the weapon. Will anyone claim it?
Also, I forgot to answer the question, yes you can repair just about any gear with a mending spell. However,
Magic items can be repaired by this spell, but you must have a caster level equal to or higher than that of the object.
Whispering Shrike is CL 5, meaning you'll have to go through the listed method of repair to make it whole again. Until then, it will take a melee penalty and sell for 75% value.
Speaking of which...who does the blade and all this other treasure belong to, anyway???

Gôlgast |

Certainly not the goblins!
I was just assuming we would sell the lot in Sandpoint and get what we can out of it.
Just finished looking at the table of Eastern Weapons: Oh, I say!
I could use the Wakizashi!
It's a light weapon with the same crit range as a scimitar or rapier.
And since Gôlgast is a dexterity-based magus, it would suit him.
The Wakizashi having a spot of magic in it won't hurt either.
Although I guess it would cost a bit to get it fixed, eh?
Addendum: I found the (metagaming) link to the Whispering Shrike. So, it would cost a few shekels to fix up right and proper.
And if I had it, I would pretty well have to take an Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat to get the most of it.
Expensive. But probably worth it in the long run!
Tricky!

Gôlgast |

(trimming a bit) …
Now, between the four of us, we know Common, Goblin, Orc, Dwarven, Celestial, Sylvan, Elven, Gnome, Aklo, Draconic, Tien, Terran.
I think that's not bad.
Good point. It would help to pick up Tien, considering that's our ultimate destination.

![]() |

I decided to go for dodge, as I am the character with the highest horizontal mobility. My plan is to move the most and give you people as many flanking bonuses as possible.
My changes:
• HP + 7 (5 avg + CON) = 24 HP now
• Channel energy, now 2d6, 4/day
• Domain spells: Remove paralysis, Locate Object
• Skill Points Main skills:(2, including FCB): +1 to spellcraft (now at +3), +1 to Perception (now at +10),
• Skill points, background skills (2)
+1 appraise (now at +3), and +1 Knowledge nobility (now at +1)
• Feat: Dodge + 1 Dodge AC.
• +1 BAB
• +1 Reflex Save
• +1 long spell list of level 2 spells.
• Hero points: +1, for a total of 3.
Magic powers: 4 Orisons, 3 level 1 spells, 2 level 2 spells, 1 level 1 and 1 level 2 domain spell.
I forgot to choose an additional language when I picked up linguistics last level, so I choose Tien.

![]() |

I read in the Jade Regent Player Guide that knowledge nobility is a very useful skill to have, so I am going to invest 1 point each level in that skill.
We also all have now 3 Hero Points, which is the maximum we can have.
We should use them sometime.

![]() |

Personal shopping list for when we are back in Sandpoint, with permission of the GM of course.

GM Wicked |

I added a hero point tracker in my tagline.
Re Tien, since no one has taken Tien until this point, I'll continue on the assumption you can't yet translate the letter (we can roleplay your study of the Tien language back in town). This is most realistic, I believe, since there's not a library in this swamp. Plus, you now have incentive to speak with Ameiko.
Re Whispering Shrike, I actually linked to its entry on pfsrd in my post, so don't worry about metagaming. since it is an Exotic weapon, and not a martial weapon, yes you would need a feat to earn proficiency with it.
Kandor that shopping list is okay by me!
Other questions?

![]() |

I am a bit spamming this thread at the moment, but as each post discusses a different topic, I find it justified.
To do list before returning to Sandpoint:
Have me use the mending spell to fix the nonmagical items.

GM Wicked |

Keep up the spamming! I enjoy seeing new posts!
There are only two shipwrecks detailed on the map, and you've visited them both:
Kaijitsu Star, where you encountered the swamp monster, and Kaijitsu's Blossom, where you found the rusted wakizashi's just before entering the skeleton cave.
Of course you can go back and re-visit these sites if there is something you'd like to do there. I'm just making sure we're all on the same page.
Also, as we're wrapping up our affairs in the swamp before heading back to town, now would be a good time to consider the loot sheet and claim items. There are several magical consumables that might prove useful on your journey ahead.

![]() |

If there is nothing left in those ship wrecks we can ignore them.
I was wondering if there are some papers or other plot hooks in those ships. Some more background information why those Tien vessels are all the way out here.
Also: uploaded a new character sheet, and updated my stats.
Not that interested in those items.
I suggest splitting the potions among those who can't cast that much healing.
as for the scrolls of CLW, they heal (outside of combat) 13 hp each, 15 if I use them. I am never going to use a scroll in combat, far to impractical for me.
for the money we get selling them we could also buy 3 CLW potions, curing 27 hp total outside of combat.
I suggest we keep the water walking scroll, you never know when you need it.

Lugert, Half-orc Ranger |

Lugert's changes:
• HP + 8 (6 avg + CON) = 32 HP
• Favored Terrain: Forest
• Domain spells: Remove paralysis, Locate Object
• Skill Points Main skills:(8, including FCB):
+2 to Ride
+3 to Handle Animal (Now that I'm actually calculating background skills)
+2 to K.Geography (For same reason)
+2 to Intimidate
+1 to Swim
+1 to Survival
+1 to Stealth
+1 to Kn.Nature
+1 to Perception
+1 to Heal
• Feat: Power Attack
• +1 BAB
• +1 Will Save
• Hero points: +1, for a total of 3.

Gôlgast |

Stuff In General:
I think we should look through the rest of the cave to check for more loot. Including that spider's lair.
As far as the new treasure: the Whispering Shrike Yakizushi is the only item that Gôlgast's really, really, really wants.
I'll wait and see how much cash we get in Sandpoint next. I'll probably want to put more cash into the caravan.
==========
@ Lugert:
Thanks for the input on the Yakizushi. It's a way cool blade for a DEX fighter like Gôlgast!
I had to get Extra Arcane Pool feat for now, though.
==========
@ Kandor:
Gôlgast won't be to interested in fighting the Licktoad goblins now. They're just too pathetic now.
I can also make some use of a wand of CLW, since I have +9 to UMD (I like using that skill).
==========
@ Samiya:
Any ideas on what we should/could do next?
I'll probably sink some skill points in languages and charisma skills after the next level too.

Samiya Takajitsu |

Yakizushi? =)
We should go to the goblin tribe. They attack again - they regret it. Then we go shopping, talk to Ameiko, read the letter and stuff.
Also, I can use CLW wand, as bard spell list has CLW on it.
And now, with 21 rounds of bardic performance and thunder call it will be fun.
One more thing, I know the fifth level is far away, but. Spellsong to cover my spellcasting with performance, or fox shape to turn myself into the tiny fox?

Gôlgast |

"Wakizashi"; I'll have to write that one out a hundred times, I suppose!
At least I got the right number of silly bulls, er syllables. :D
I'll be impressed if you know what comedy the "silly bulls" reference is from!
Without resorting to Google, of course!
Right you are about the wand. I have played bards; I should've remembered that!
I have never tried that Spellsong feat before, though. Fox Shape sounds cool.
I just had a quick look at the Kitsune feats in ARG here.
You've got cool racial feats to choose from.
I think Realistic Likeness would be very good for spying and such.
Magic Tail looks cool too.
Since Gôlgast is a half-orc, I can choose from half-orc, human, and orc feats.
Two that are useful are Fast Learner (human), and Grudge Fighter (orc).
But, with that Wakizashi, I'll have to take Exotic Weapon Proficiency first.
==========
@ Lugert:
Thinking about it, that Grudge Fighter would be a good choice for you. In future.
Nothing wrong with what amounts to a free bonus to hit and damage!
Resilient Brute is a very good half-orc feat too.
That one that can be a real life-saver for front-line half-orcs!
==========
@ GM Wicked:
I forgot all about the Hero Point thing.
Would Gôlgast get another for levelling up?

GM Wicked |

Do you guys want normal combat, or should I summarize the action and what you find in the remainder of the cavern?
@Golgast: I think everyone should be at three hero points at this point (correct me if that's wrong). See the link in my tagline for a calculation for all PCs.

Gôlgast |

@ GM Wicked:
I'm cool with normal combat.
Good practice, if nothing else.
If everyone else wants to skip through the rest,
I'm fine with that too.
I'll adjust Gôlgast's hero points.
Thanks for that.
Just one clarification on the Hero Points.
Do they recharge with a night's rest?
I want some idea of how often, or rarely, to use them.
Thanks!

GM Wicked |

No they don't recharge. Once used, they're gone forever. But, you can't have more than 3 hero points at any time--the excess are lost! So it would be worth burning at least one before level 4.
I imagine most players will keep at least two points handy to "Cheat Death."

Gôlgast |

@ GM Wicked:
Thanks. Makes sense.
It would be a broken system if you could use those frequently!
I'll treat them as emergency aces in the hole sort of thing.
==========
Weapon Names (just because):
I have my two masterwork weapon names.
Partly because a lot of adventurers in fiction like naming their 'toys'.
But mostly because I like using EBoN (Ever Changing Book of Names) to make cool sounding names quickly.
Rapier: "Ûðor" (sounds like "OO-thor")
Light Mace: "Amach" (sounds like "AH-match")

GM Wicked |

I'm leaving for the beach tomorrow and will be gone all of next week (yay!). I should have internet access and plan to keep up with posting, but if I'm missing in action, you'll understand why.

![]() |

So, what are we going to do with the goblin tribe?
I am prepared to fight them, if you look at my spell selection.
But I would prefer making a deal with them, trying to establish some trade connection between sandpoint and the goblin tribe to their mutual benefit.
If only I knew what kind of goods goblins have to offer for sale.

![]() |

Sandpoint in turn can sell them fireworks, Holy water and old horses.
If the best diplomat wants to convince them, I will try to assist.
I prefer making a deal, that will probably lessen the desire to start raiding, if the goblins can lose acces to trade goods.
We also have some fireworks. I suggest celebrating the deal by using some of them, and handing the rest of the Desnan Candles to them. I'll throw in a Holy water.

GM Wicked |

The Spellcraft DC to identify the boots was 16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no one has made that check.

Samiya Takajitsu |

The Spellcraft DC to identify the boots was 16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no one has made that check.
Samiya drinks both antiplague and antitoxin, just in case.
She then identifies the boots, telling everyone about their properties.
spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
And helps Kandor drag stuff around.
It's sixth post on the last page. I don't know how to make a link from the post.

![]() |

Golgast, are you going to keep the Whispering Shrike?
I suggest keeping the potions, always useful in a pinch.
Haven't I managed to fix one item in the downtime with the mending spell?

GM Wicked |

Re Mending: Sure, all of them will be "repaired" (except Whispering Shrike) when I liquidate!

Gôlgast |

Definitely I'd like to keep the Whispering Shrike!
Especially since Gôlgast's main fighting stat is DEX, not STR
And it's a totally cool weapon besides.
I wonder if those other wakizashi we found would be worth more as trade items for the caravan later?
How many cure potions do we have, all told?

![]() |

according to the loot sheet:
Golgast has 2 CLW potion
Samiya has 1 CLW potion
Lugert has no healing items
Kandor has 1 wand of CLW with 5 charges.
Edit: Golgast, I believe you used one potion against the Wrathspawn before we visisted the witch.

![]() |

That is why I suggest keeping the potions of cure moderate and the lesser restoration.
@GM Wicked. Are those potions of lesser restoration not a bit on the cheap side? It is a level 2 spell after all.
@Lugert, Samiya and Golgast.
I have now claimed the lesser restoration and CMW potions to prevent the accidental selling of them. I suggest you claim those instead. I have enough healing for myself.

GM Wicked |

I come with bad news...
Recent events are requiring more and more of my attention, such that I've been able to devote less and less time to PbP. You might have noticed my posts have become less frequent. Things came to a head last week, resulting in my decision to cut back on my PbP activities. I've spent some days now considering it, and I feel I need to end this game.
I've really enjoyed our posts, and I'm sorry to end things so abruptly, but life does happen. I know you'll be disappointed that this story will not continue, but I hope that you have enjoyed our experiences thus far (as I have). I also hope this was only the beginning of fun for you, a starting point to springboard into other games and adventures. I wish you guys great fun and great success in all your adventures, both on and off the boards.
I'll leave the game active a week or so, then render it "inactive" to avoid cluttering your pages.
Thanks again for all your efforts!

Lugert, Half-orc Ranger |

Hey Wicked, it was a good deal of fun! I wish you the best of luck in your RL endeavors.
Golgast, Kandor, and Samiya - Please reach out if you're looking for anyone to play with in the future!
