If there's nothing else Brandon resurfaces.

The skinny alchemist, now literally 140 pounds soaking wet, hauls himself out of the fettid water. He scatters the ring and ash rod ahead of him and spends a couple of minutes loudly dry-heaving.

Aaaacckk.... huuurrrgggllll... aaaarlll...

BD, please add the items to the list that needs to be sent to me by the end of the week. Thanks!

You guys may roll spellcraft on the wand if you want...but posting period is up and it's time to push this forward a bit.

You open up the next door, and walk down a twisting hallway that ends at an intersection that goes in two directions. To the west, you see a room with a deep pit. To the south, a closed door.

I will update the map momentarily.

I never tried to spellcraft the pearl either.

Spellcraft Wand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Spellcraft Pearl: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Kyle follows the others while concentrating on detecting more magic.

Three hours and only one post? Hmmm...where is everyone?

Wand of Levitate - 8 Charges.
Pearl of Power I

Beppo edges toward the doorway of the room to the west and peers into the room, hoping to see what is in the pit.

Y'all get a break...Work got really slammed, and I cannot post later because I leave right from this for a PFS game. So, my next post will be either REALLY late tonight or in the morning.

"What way do we want to go? does it matter? we've been taking rights maybe we should head to the pit"

Then ever watchful waits for the group to come to a decision but keeps an eye out for anything down here.

"Agreed Aemon, lets take a right here and check that pit, and what lies beyond"

I hope it's not full of water...

Lead on then, I am right behind you.

Looking at Brandon and motioning to cover his nose ... Do you smell something? and smiles.

He then dras both blades at the same tinme and readies himself.

A circular pit takes up much of this room. Thirty feet above, dozens of strange shadowy stalactites descend from the ceiling, their lengths transforming after a few feet into iron chains that descend into a tangle of chains suspended over the center of the pit below—the tangle wraps and suspends what appears to be a mutilated humanoid body at its core. Many chains dangle from this sphere into the glowing red depths of the pit below, but several chains float and writhe in the air like strands of seaweed in a churning tidepool, the tips of each fragmented and flaking away in bits of rust.

As you look towards the pit, the chains whip out and attack Beppo

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 261d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 131d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

He is hit for 9. Beppo instinctively jumps back. It appears the chains can only reach 10 feet from the edge of the pit.

You can continue to the other side of the room (where a hallway leads further on) or fall back to your previous location.

You can easily surmise they are animated objects, powered by magic, though there's not enough there for you to be able to surmise more than that, especially given that the chains only lashed out for a minute, and to get closer to observe them properly would clearly put you in harm's way.

Male Chelaxian-Human Ranger 4 | HP 44 | AC 18 FF 15 T13 | Saves +6/+8/+3 | Init + 4 | Percep +10

"What can we do? will our weapons work against this?"

Aemon prepares his bow, looking at the group for any answers.

Grand Lodge

Animated chains share similar properties with regular, thick chains. They are impossible to damage with piercing weapons. Slashing and blunts weapons may damage them if they strike hard enough. Energy attacks do nothing, though acid may affect them.

You could run around them to get to the other side. The first person would draw their attacks while the rest get through. Alternatively, you could attempt to fight them at close range.

Silver Crusade

"These attacks are from some lingering magic, perhaps one that effects them permanently. I suggest we run by them if we wish to pass."

(RETIRED) Human Alchemist 6 | HP 57 | AC 18 FF 16 T13 | Saves +7/+7/+6 (+4 disease, +2 poison) | Init + 2 | Percep +10

Do we back away for now or destroy these things before they become a problem?

Male Human Fighter 5 HP 45/49 | AC 22 (t13 f20) | F+6 R+5 W+5(+6vs Fear) | Perc +10 | Longsword +11, 1d8+6; Greatsword +12, 2d6+8

Beppo puts a hand to his lip where the animated chain made contact. That smarts, he says, mostly to himself.

Turning back to his mates: We can go through, but why do so when we are not sure that what lies beyond is worth the trip? I say we check out that door we did not open in the other direction.

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

"Are there also other paths we did not take?", Devil asks. "If we did decide we have to pass these chains, I expect I could distract them while the rest of you rush past."

(RETIRED) Human Alchemist 6 | HP 57 | AC 18 FF 16 T13 | Saves +7/+7/+6 (+4 disease, +2 poison) | Init + 2 | Percep +10

Don't risk your self unnecessarily Devil, we'll head to the door to the south first.

Brandon leads the way in that direction.

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

"If there is one thing of which I am confident, it is that, when prepared, I am very hard to strike.", Devil says to Brandon. "And I'm not sure what ground on which you stand to caution regarding risk." Devil smiles at the alchemist.

Grand Lodge

You go back and head through the South door.

A junction in the hallway presents multiple methods to progress. A wooden door sits in one wall, while a rough, cave-like tunnel winds away to the side. Opposite the door, three stairways proceed—two leading down to the left and right and one leading up in the center. Wooden signs with writing on them hang above the entrance to each flight of stairs.

Infernal:
The sign above the stairs reads “Arachnophobia,” while
another above a different set stairs to reads “Ophidiophobia.” The central sign above those stairs reads “Observation.”

A steep shaft that looks nigh unclimable

"Can't anyone read what these signs say?"

Aemon looks at the signs trying to work them out but has no idea.

"If we can't work it out i guess we try right again?"

He shrugs not sure what he's doing at this point, just hoping to get out of here quicker.

Grand Lodge

After a few hours, I'm inclined to move the party in the first suggestion I see, LOLz!

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

"The signs read", Devil said, "In the language of devils, 'Fear of Spiders', 'Fear of Snakes', and 'Observation'. I suggest we might see more, from Observation. That sign."

Silver Crusade

Male Human Priest Lvl 5; 32 HP; AC:17 [14F/15T]; P+6; [+5F+5R+8W]; [S1:3-S2:4-S3:1-1C-4L]

"Sounds like more scenes from our play. Corellon, you're the star. You should choose where to go."

Grand Lodge

You move to observation.

The wooden walls of this room are painted a somewhat nauseating yellow color. In one wall, an oak door with a large lock on the handle stands, a message burnt into the front. Likewise, hanging wooden signs bear messages as well, six in all, each hanging over a stairway leading out of the room. Ruined heaps of what may have once been chairs and a table lie scattered over the floor.

Infernal:
A sign reads, “Abandon All Hope.” The signs over the stairways each bear a single word written in Infernal—2 say “Exit”, “Arachnophobia” , “Ophidiophobia” , “Hematophobia” , and “Pyrophobia”.

You hear a voice shrill, “You poor things! Suffering so from such baseless fears! Please, step into the therapy chambers and face these terrors. When you’re cured, bring me your prizes and I’ll pronounce you cured. You want to be cured, don’t you?”

Map will be updated soon

Who said that? Brandon calls back. Please, show yourself so that we can properly talk.

Male Chelaxian-Human Ranger 4 | HP 44 | AC 18 FF 15 T13 | Saves +6/+8/+3 | Init + 4 | Percep +10

"This place.."Aemon shakes his head, looking all around him."It just keeps getting better and better, therapy chambers? could that have to do with the signs back there about fears?"

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

"I doubt very much the therapeutic nature of anything on offer in this place."

Half-Elven Rogue Lvl 2 HP 15/15 INIT+6 AC 16 CMB+3 CMD+17 Rapier/S. Sword (+6/+3 Dual +5,+1) 1d6+2/18-20x2, 1d6+2/19-20x2 Short Bow (+5) 1d6+2/x3 (F:0 R:6 W:0)

I will never feel a moment of ease until we are well away from this place. Let's find what we need and get out of here - I fear this will haunt me for an eternity.

"I am guessing one is as good as the other - And what is written in these signs Devil?"

Tiefling M Monk 1(Sohei/MoMS)

"Those two, say they are the way out. The other four all speak of fears.", Devil points to the signs as he says, "Of Spiders, Snakes, Fire, and Blood."

Grand Lodge

Yes, the screechy, female voice speaks, Conquer your fears and come back. Then I can help you! You will see clearly! But you must first conquer ALL your FEARS!

"Conquer all our fears..? I tire of this game, but could the voice mean that we need to follow one of the fears, defeat it and get back here? Because honestly... Those that say they are the way out do not convince me...

Male Chelaxian-Human Ranger 4 | HP 44 | AC 18 FF 15 T13 | Saves +6/+8/+3 | Init + 4 | Percep +10

Aemon looks to the signs as Devil reads them off.

"Way out? we've not gotten what we've come for yet. The voice seems to be listening to us but will not answer us."

He then looks around the room again trying to see anything out of place.

perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Then shouts out.

"Who are you? What will you help us with?"

Male Human Fighter 5 HP 45/49 | AC 22 (t13 f20) | F+6 R+5 W+5(+6vs Fear) | Perc +10 | Longsword +11, 1d8+6; Greatsword +12, 2d6+8

Beppo mutters, Sheesh. The exits are tempting, but I suppose we had best get what we came for. Shall we face spiders, snakes, fire, or... blood first? As long as I can hit something instead of splashing a potion on it, I'm not afraid of any of them.

p.s. double ninja'd
