and without an actual "other team" to be in competition with, pointless.
Um, just as an aside, have you considered putting other teams against each other?
I mean, you're running a lot of games (at least it seems like that, if trawets71's multiple personalities are any indication =). Why not do it for reals?
Make 2 (or more) random dungeons. Post a start game on each thread on the same day. See who does it first/the best.
I'm sure this is a dumb idea, but it seemed like it should at least be given the chance to be dismissed. =)

Tofutee |

I'm here for the long haul, I doubt anything you could change would scare me away at this point. Though I will be quite sad if I have to shelve Tofutee to participate.

So there it is, an offer to do a slightly different sort of adventure, but with the possibility of returning to Du'orbna at any time.
It might be that by adapting an old D&D module for this adventure I can try to customize the encounters to be a bit of a challenge (though admittedly I am not very good at figuring out complex monster encounters),
Also
I have a touch of Bronchitis, but I am trying to update games today anyway.

Once your characters put on a bracelet (it is sort of a gimmick, I know, but it lets me have a way to bring you back to this world without too many rule bending shenanigans)
and step through the Portal, you will be in Harrispania, on the continent of Alodoa, where my games
The Beginning of All Things
and
Castle Caldwell and Beyond
are set
You will have the disadvantage that any Skill ranks in Knowledge, Religion, Local, History, Nobility, and maybe a few others will be mostly useless (though generic Knowledge, Planes, Arcane, Dunginering - will be just as relevant).
The Bracelet has the added ability to allow your spoken language of preference to be heard as Common, by anyone who understands common in Harrispania, and you understand what is spoken in Common there as well. Some other languages may be similar between the two worlds, and where a language is spoken that you do not understand, I will point this out to you.
You can select one language, hopefully that all of you speak, that is not Common, and this language can be used to speak to each other with a limited amount of confidence that no one else will understand you.
Your gold coins will not be altered, but there is always a good chance in this setting that any merchant will simply weigh the coins, test their purity, and pay you a fair amount for them, as at this time in Alodoa's history several countries are minting coins of silver, copper, and gold.
I will try to get a map up that shows you where Harrispania is, in this world, but you will not know the exact town you arrive in, until you ask a local where you are.
Any questions?

Does the gold coin mechanic mean a lot or a little? Does that mean that 1gp = 1gp anywhere, or does the County of Origin mean something? If so, is there one currency that is closer to universally accepted (like the US dollar?)

Terquem |
I am sort of weighing a slightly lesser value of the Du'rban gold and silver piece, in Harrispania (which unlike this game I am sort of trying to keep as a more "traditional" sort of RPG setting). Something like you will find that your gold piece is worth half or less of their standard gold piece.
You will not know what sort of things are available to buy (including magic items), but from just looking through the portal, at the buildings, and people passing by, the setting looks like it is a bit earlier in progress than what you find here in Du'Orbna, though your dress will fit in just fine, it looks like this place is maybe a hundred, maybe more, years older in technological development.
You can think of Du'Orbna (where you are now) as sort of like a Fantasy/Medieval Theme Park, that doesn't know it is a theme park (with swords and sorcery, as well as shopping plazas, theaters similar to Broadway, snow cone shacks, restaurants, and a significant import/export economy)while Harrispania is actually a semi- medieval/Italian renaissance type of setting.

As asked earlier here is the loot total for our current venture.
Dead Derro:
Memories
Snacks
6 shortswords
6 light crossbows
6 leather armor
6 poison vials? (not sure)
Trinkets and letters from the dead derro's family asking when they would be home with food money. Little timmy Derro is getting sicker.
(all derro items are small)
Dead Adventurers:
2 Leather armor
1 Chainmail shirt
3 backpacks
100ft rope
torchesx9
15 metal spikes
2 hammers
3 pints of oil
1 warhammer
4daggers
1 longsword
1 shortbow 9arrows
1 light crossbow 12bolts
1MW ironshod staff
Non-living loot:
15,000gp
2500 of it stored in small coffers and the rest is stored in bags.
Conveniently enough that sort of motley collection would serve quite well to establish strangers as moderately successful adventurers in most setting that have them.

Memories Snacks...Trinkets and letters from the dead derro's family asking when they would be home with food money. Little timmy Derro is getting sicker.
Are...is...is...are those actual things or are you just a lot more creative than we've been giving you credit for? =)

Oi, get back into your own thread.
I mean I suppose I could write sonnets of love about myself.

Terquem |
My oldest son and his wife brought another wonderful little girl into the world on Friday, making us grandparents for the second time now. We are taking mom home from the hospital today. Mom and baby are doing great. Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there.
I should be back to posting game updates tomorrow,

Tofutee |

Hrmm.. we never did at that.
I advocate for equal Exp in most groups just to cut down on bookkeeping.
If using Exp at all that is.

Terquem. A request:
I don't think it is right that there is an "extra channel" and an extra "lay on hands" feat that the paladin can take but not an extra fervor feat. I mean the Paladin can literally have 6 extra uses of Lay on Hands
Can we have a house-ruled feat that gives me +2 Fervor? =)

Terquem |
I think a Game Setting Specific Feat, which grants a bonus of +2 uses of Fervor to a Warpriest is a good idea. Now, just to be clear, I would not classify this feat as a "Combat Feat" and therefore eligible to be taken as one of the Bonus feats a Warpriest earns. It would be a generic feat, and must be taken when a generic feat is granted based upon level advancement.

Bud Wiser |

The extra channel feat works for fervor as well.
Special: If a paladin with the ability to channel positive energy takes this feat, she can use lay on hands four additional times per day, but only to channel positive energy. If a warpriest with the ability to channel energy takes this feat, he gains four additional uses of fervor per day, but can use them only to channel energy.
And for the record the Paladin doesn't get 6 extra uses of Lay on Hands. He can get two uses of LoH and 2 Channels (as 4 LoH, which can only be used to channel)

Okay, leveling time.
HD: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Not a lot going on this level. Added a couple ranks to skills and some extra spells.

Tofutee |

HP: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
I get a rogue talent. Think i'll go ahead and take Trap spotter now that we will be moving out of a terrain where it is of debatable value.
BAB and saves all jumped by one as well so that ought to be nice.
We never really got around to figuring out what language we'd be using as our "secret" language was going to be.
I kind of want everyone in the group to take a rank in linguistics so Tofutee can teach them vegypygmy. It being a rhythym based language I keep imagining it as aggressive hamboning
Uh.. just like that? thanks strangely specific Internet GIF. Thats the third thing to come up when one googles "Aggressive hamboning."

Okay, so here I am with my first full day off trying to explain my absence. Basically, the company I worked for was dissolved, and we merged into a larger company owned by the mega corporation Fluor. All of June was a nightmare, and July we began revising our procedures and finally got new org charts. I am still, sort of, doing the same job, but my immediate manager, well he got a new boss and he really doesn’t like his new boss and I think he is taking out his frustrations on us. We’ve been having stupid long meetings every day. Three employees were fired for time card fraud (which is sort of the catch all excuse for firing people who work on government projects). I know I shouldn’t post from work, but I often do during the week, but with all the changes and scrutiny I was being very cautious. Things are still pretty chaotic at work, but I think things will settle down by the end of July.
On top of that we had a new granddaughter born at the end of June, baby was fine, but mom had a small set back from the c-section she had, and my wife and I were spending a lot of time helping our son and his little family.
I know that’s a lot of silly personal real life stuff to put on the forum but I wanted everyone to know where I’ve been. I have this whole day to try to get all my games caught up and I know some of you have been waiting a very long time. I hope you can find interest in the games again and come back to play when you can.
Thanks, everyone

Terquem |
Here is an update for every one of my wonderful patient players
I have not been able to do updates during the week from the computer I normally use due to the recent changes in my employment (working under a new contractor). I won’t go into details, because the truth is I allowed myself to get spoiled by the previous contractor’s more or less indifference to how much time we spent messing around on the internet (as long as we got our work done, they didn’t seem to care much). The new boss is watching us, and has installed something called iPrism, to track our online activity.
What this means, first I am not shutting down any games. I love the games here, and I have great players. What it does mean is that I will try to do more updates on week nights and on the weekends, but it also means that my already slow games will probably get slower.
If any of you find this is something you just don’t have time for and want to drop out I will not hold that against you. I understand that players want to spend their time doing something that they feel is worth their effort, so I will do my best to give you the best game I can, but understand it might be slower than it has been in the past.
The good news is I only work 4 days a week and have Friday off, and with summer winding down my Fridays will be a little slower in general and I hope to make it my primary catch up day on games.
Thank you

Posting to all my games: I'll be leaving for a family vacation this Wednesday, and my posting will be spotty until I get back Monday. Feel free to bot me as needed. =)

Got my first set of stitches out today and the lab report says the cancer was fully excised so I am going to have a great recovery. I hope to be updating games tomorrow. I've been a little weak, and work is still a bit rough, but I have no intention of quitting my games, so
Thank you for being patient with this old man

Bud Wiser |

Congrats and I'm glad to hear they got it all. I had no idea you were going though all that. I'm surprised you've put any energy into this. Hope I hope your recover is quick and complete.
On another note Movin hasn't posted since the beginning of July. I hope everything is ok with him.

Terquem |
Ruul - a recap is a good idea
Problem I am seeing is that we have lost Tofutee (Movin) who hasn't posted to any of my games in almost two months.
I will for certain do a recap today, in fact I may introduce an "agent" someone in the know working for It'Dupree to get you all informed and moving in the right direction, but with just the three of you, it may be a strange sort of game after all
