Khedon rushes in, wary, looking for any sign of the mite but in the anxiety of the situation forgets Dakram's warning. He edges forward one more step and the floor gives way underneath him as a massive trap door swings free.
Khedon> Make a Reflex save DC 20. The pit is in I-J/10-11
Amid the racket of the collapsing floor the mite darts out from behind the corner wall of the forge and flings a dart at Alie. The dart sails remarkably true and nails her directly in the throat. He cackles and dances a little victory jig.
Mite> Dart + sneak attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 vs Alie
Damage 1d3 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (4, 2) = 9 That leaves Alie standing, but on 0.
Kayluss still needs the Acrobatics DC 10 check
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Wadi moves just inside the room, to M10 standing right behind Alie, who staggers against him. Outwardly appearing calm, but raging with emotions on the inside, he summons his elemtal heritage and aims at the mite, who is now exposed. Attack Elemental Ray ranged touch 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21, Confirm Crit 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, damage 1d6 ⇒ 6
Darn, I could have used a crit there, oh well. BTW, this is subject to SR.
Alie, get back, we can handle this thing!"
Kayluss |
Acrobatics:1d20 - 5 ⇒ (12) - 5 = 7
reflex save:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Running into the room, unable to see very well in the dim light, Kayluss hits a slick spot on the floor and his feet slip out from under him, sending him crashing to the ground.
Round 2
Cursing Kayluss pulls himself up and attempts to hurl his spear at the wounded mite.
Attack:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damage:1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
If needed:
Acrobatics:1d20 - 5 ⇒ (14) - 5 = 9
reflex save:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Debris rains down on Khedon, who is quite sure that he broke something in the fall. Dakram edges up the corridor and seeing the mite flailing around on fire, hurls a blade at it, which would have parted its hairline if it had any hair to speak of. Instead it leaves a thin gash across its knobby blue scalp and bounces off. The hideous little blue man shrieks and grabs its scalp, ducking down by chance just as Kayluss' spear flies over it. It stops mid shriek and its wide eyes follow the spear, before it whirls back to glare at you all face twisted into a mask of malice.
Dakram> I think your damage mod is wrong. Weapon finesse only applies your dex to your chance to hit, not damage. With a str of 10 the damage mod is +0. If I missed something that gives you the +3 let me know, but I marked it as the natural roll of 3 for now.
Alie is up and then the mite.
Who has the healer's kit?
Alie Saechel |
Alie, still struggling to breathe after taking the extremely well placed dart, doesn't do anything to exert herself, knowing she was perilously close to losing consciousness.
Can't really do anything, DM. Don't want to take an action and go unconscious. I'll just wait on someone to heal me!
Alie Saechel |
If I can take a move action like Sek said, I will definitely step backwards a bit, and hang out for a while!
ithuriel |
Alie clutches her throat in panic and backs up down the hall. (L8 is fine and non threatening at 10 ft back
The mite's pure malice intensifies until it is shaking with rage while glaring directly at Dakram across the pit. His eyes fly wide open and bug out before he, in the end turns to run. Geared wheels and piles of marble shards collapse with a racket as he bounds through them.
Dakram: Will save DC 10
You guys are all up now starting with Wadi. Torvic isn't going to do much but check on Alie so Dakram can begin Round 3 immediately after Wadi. Honestly since it is all of you guys vs one opponent unless you want to post action in order for tactical reasons, I'll sort them out. Might be quicker.
I just noticed Wadi looks a lot more menacing now!
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Wadi keeps the mite in sight, and readies another elemental flame attack,
Ray ranged touch 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9, damage 1d6 ⇒ 6 fire
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
The forge is between you and him now. Maybe you want to double move?
Well since that was such a great roll, I will take a 5' step to the west and fire.
ithuriel |
Hmm. 9 is going to miss by a lot even if you can get the shot off, but I don't think you can get into position to target him with a ray. The forge in the center is ten feet tall. To get a line of effect you'd need to either go around it (difficult terrain), on top of it (DC 15 climb check from K11), or jump the 10 wide pit trap (DC 15 if you can run 10 feet first, DC 25 without a running start- includes +5 DC for the terrain).
This is the map as I have it at the moment.
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
OK then this will be a readied action, and go ahead and keep the roll.
Kayluss |
Round3
Kaluss follows Sek around the forge.
Double move to N,18
If needed:
Acrobatics:1d20 - 5 ⇒ (9) - 5 = 4
reflex save:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
ithuriel |
Kayluss> I'm not sure what you are going after there. You are actually moving slightly further away from the target by the most difficult route possible. With those rolls what will actually happen is you took another step and your leg went right through another rotten floorboard, preventing the move, and being thrown off balance like that causes you to fall.
If you actually meant to go to K18 as Sek asks in the ooc, you can do so successfully with no rolls.
ithuriel |
The blade flips end over end sails past the mite and crashes into the rotten flooring beyond. Vermin scatter from the area like a living carpet.
Dakram is Shaken
Shaken: A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.
Jerking a little sword from its sheath, the mite lunges at Sekhemre. The tip of the blade clinks as it strikes mithral chain, but the chain holds. He snarls and reaches for another sword strapped to his back.
Short sword 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 vs Sekhemre's AC of 20
With Allie and Khedon unlikely to do much, Sek, Kayluss, Dakram, and Wadi can all go again.
Alie Saechel |
Yeah, DM, just ignore Alie for the time being. She's trying not to pass out for the forseeable future...
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Since Sekhemre is in combat, and he has the rope, Wadi will maintain his readied action, for when the mite breaks melee combat.
Attack Elemental Ray ranged touch 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19, damage 1d6 ⇒ 1 Fire.
ithuriel |
Check out the map.
I have Wadi in M10.
The Mite in H13
Dakram is in K10.
As far as I can tell, you have no line of effect to the mite unless he backs up a square AND you move to K11. Then he would still have cover for +4 AC. Alternatively you could double move all the way to H18. From there firing into melee is your only problem. You could step slightly onto the boards to avoid Sekhemre granting cover to the mite.
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Ok, let me amend my action by moving to K11, and readying the action as stated before. So when he backs up, then Wadi will fire on him.
Kayluss |
Sorry about the confusion, Sek is right I meant K,18. Not sure why I put N. This is the second time this happened to, my original move I wanted to go to L,11 not M,11 but for some reason I got it messed up.
Sekhemre of Karnak |
Actually, when I am 'mutagened', my AC is 22 :-)
Sekhemre lunges at the creature again, attempting to skewer it on the end of his rapier!
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
...and I would like him to give me a DC 14 Fort save, or take 1d2 ⇒ 1 points of strength damage!
Kayluss |
Coming around the corner Kayluss's see's that his veiw of the mite if obstructed by Sek. Pulling up short he pulls out his club hoping to spot an opening to hurl it at the mite.
lets see if I can get this right this time.
Doulbe move to H,15; Draw club
ithuriel |
Sekhemre's bestial strength drives his rapier straight through the mite's studded leather. It hisses in pain and jerks away from the blade drawing another one of its own at the same time. Rather than run, the blue man counterattacks driving one blade at Sek's stomach while slashing down at his knee with the other. This time the blade manages to punch through the chain shirt...
Mite's Fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 vs DC 14
Short swords TWF: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 and 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Crit confirm 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
This dice roller is pretty murderous isn't it?
Wadi, Dakram, Sek, and Kayluss. Round 4
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Wadi will fire his Elemental Ray at the mite, despite him already in melee. Attack Elemental Ray ranged touch 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 1 - 4 = 0, damage 1d6 ⇒ 6 Fire.
ithuriel |
Standing is only a move action in any case.
It is a bit nonsensical, but since climbing is part of a move action you could make a RAW argument that it wouldn't drop you into negatives to make an attempt. So if you want to try it, you can.
DC 15, 20 ft, Climbing is at 1/4 speed so you need 2 move actions and 2 checks to get out.
The mite has not moved so Wadi still has no line of effect to make a ray attack.
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Sorry, I thought the mite had moved. Wadi will take a 5' step over so he maintains LOS with the mite. I cannot see the map so please place me where I can see him, thanks.
ithuriel |
The only square that can target him from the north end of the map is the one Dakram is in. Even from that square it is -4 for ranged into melee and +4 AC to the mite for cover (the wall of the forge).
Trying to five foot step closer will put you in the pit.
You can back up and take a running leap over the pit (DC 15 Acrobatics) or double move all the way around the forge to H16. At that point all of you are standing in a line north to south Mite->Sek->Kayluss->Wadi
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
OK I will take the Double Move to H16 option, and fire next round. Since I rolled so bad on my attack, I don't want to meta game it, so keep that roll for next round please.
Khedon |
Khedon will stand, leaning on his staff, and prod through any debris in the pit while waiting for things to resolve above.
If it were a very simple climb, I'd try it, but for a more difficult climb it doesn't pass my giggle test either to attempt to get out unaided
Kayluss |
Kayluss steps to the left on to the rotting wooden floor and hurls his club at the mite before drawing Ixthalos.
Hopeing 5ft steps don't call for Acrobatics rolls:
Attack:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage:1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
