Timothy of house Churin |

We should take all the horses and as much food as we can. Extra pack horses will be plenty useful. Timothy wants a CLW potion that's probably it. He is more reliant on his spells and his words than weapons. The staglord thing seems like a holy symbol?

Aldarion the Sage |

And we might even buy a horse wagon or two in time to carry even more. In time, even attract a small following (e.g. via Timothy's Leadership feat), and we wouldn't want to have them hold us up by running after us on foot all over the Greenbelt, lol.
I was thinking the two with the lowest AC might be best off having dibs on these two healing potions.
Yes, it certainly could be a holy symbol. That would be interesting, if the Stag Lord is worshiped as a god. Maybe Maja can do a Knowledge (religion) check? But we did not find a spell component pouch on Happs, who was wearing the medallion. There are a few cleric spells that require material components, unless he has the Eschew Materials feat. In any case, this would be something only Maja would perhaps know and notice.

Caelius Nicos |

Thinking our hangman will want the str bow.
I will take a horse and a normal longbow. Can't use the bow till next level but it saves me from having to worry about it then.
can anyone use the armor or weapons?
If not then selling to Oleg:
4 leather armor
Dagger
Longbow (2)
We should keep the amulet. It might be a pass-key or identifier later.

Maja Weatherseed |
I'm in on the dagger, actually. Maja lacks a non-reach weapon and she can't use a short sword.
Here's a draft of how to assign it all:
Alchemist’s fire (2) - Maja (& _______)?
Leather armor (4) - Sell
Dagger - Maja
Composite longbow (+2 Str) - Caelus
80 arrows - Caelus & Caelius
8 days of trail rations - Party
Silver Stag Lord amulet - Party
Longbow (3) - Caelius (1) & Sell (2)
Short sword (3) - Sell
Potion of CLW (2) - Timothy and Aldarion
Potion of Shield of Faith +2 - Aldarion
Horse (6) - Party (giving us 2 extra horses)
110 GP - Party
Please feel free to make changes.

Maja Weatherseed |
Okay, here's a final breakdown. I'm assuming we sell items for half price.
Alchemist’s fire (2) - Maja & Caelius
Leather armor (4) - Sell = 20gp
Dagger - Maja
Composite longbow (+2 Str) - Caelus
80 arrows - Caelus & Caelius
8 days of trail rations - Party
Silver Stag Lord amulet - Party
Longbow (3) - Caelius (1) & Sell (2) = 75gp
Short sword (3) - Sell = 15gp
Potion of CLW (2) - Timothy and Aldarion
Potion of Shield of Faith +2 - Aldarion
Horse (6) - Party (giving us 2 extra horses)
110 GP - Party
Gold per character: 20 + 75 + 15 + 110 = 220/5 = 44gp.
@Tallgrass - do you approve?

Aldarion the Sage |

I went ahead and added the inventory Maja indicates for my character. I will add the gold (which I checked and the math is correct) once business with the remaining bandit is settled and we have time to sell the gear to Oleg... but, a question: it's 100% gold pieces, no silver or copper coins, or platinum?

Maja Weatherseed |
I think we've become pretty bogged down by the post-battle moralizing and interrogation. It was a sensible event to go through, but I think the situation has played itself out, and now I worry that it's important we press forward.
In particular, the conclusion of the party seems to be that the bandit lives if he cooperates but dies if he does not. The conclusion of the bandit seems to be that he does not want to cooperate but does not want to die, and it's not entirely clear which instinct will ultimately give in. (It seems to me he's choosing to die, but the situation remains ambiguous and dying cannot be undone -- yet -- making it the harder choice.)
Assuming GM Tallgrass agrees, perhaps he can fast forward in the gameplay and indicate whether the bandit resists indefinitely under pressure or decides to eventually give in. At which point the fate of the bandit is easier to decide.
Anyway, forgive me if I'm too forward in drawing conclusions or trying to control characters. I mean no offense, and will take none.

GM Tallgrass |

Yeah - I take full responsibility for the bogging down. I kind of thought you guys would either let him go or kill him. I didn't really mean to get into an interrogation situation, as I don't really want to divulge the exact location or details of the bandit camp location this early. I've got some morning meetings, but I'll move things forward afterwards.
Thanks for keeping it real, Maja.

Aldarion the Sage |

I entirely agree as well. I've found that PBP games do require some GM intervention here and there to keep the plot moving forward at a reasonable pace. I've made that mistake myself as GM more than once, it's easy enough to do.
Be back tonight to post.

Aldarion the Sage |

For Tracking: I'm thinking, if the ground is at worst "firm" (Survival DC 15), and rather than daylight we have moonlight (+3 to DC) which may (?) be lowered or ignored since Aldarion has low-light vision, tracking Large creatures (-1) and six sets of tracks (-2)... Aldarion can safely take 10 on each 1 mile survival check (for a 21 result vs DC 12 or 15, depending on +3 for moonlight). He will move his normal speed of 30 ft., incurring a -5 penalty (16 result vs DC 12 or 15).
If and when the ground becomes very hard, he will slow to half-speed to not incur the -5 penalty (would be a DC 17 or DC 20).

GM Tallgrass |

Sorry, everyone. Without getting too personal, my wife and I do foster care and it's been a rough couple of days. I'm not gone, just missing. I should be able to update the game this afternoon, though.
In the meantime, let's have a real quick role call to see who's still around and checking the game.
Cheers!

Aldarion the Sage |

Here!
Still here! I claim this delay as my fault. Sorry everyone. Should be better now.
Glad to see ya back. No worries.

GM Tallgrass |

All right everyone. I'm backish - life isn't less crazy, but I'm committed to seeing this game move forward!
As a thank you for your patience, you may all level up to 2nd level. Please update your stat lines underneath your name with the new info. Enjoy!
In game, let me know where you are on the map and who's with whom. Then I'll go ahead and roll initiative, if necessary.
Thanks everyone!

Aldarion the Sage |

Still need to pick my new spells, but otherwise leveled. Added another rank to Perception because Aldarion really needs it, lol.

Aldarion the Sage |

If I got 3 monkeys, I was going to have one monkey appear behind the guard's legs, and the other two attempt to bull rush him off the platform. Lol.

GM Tallgrass |

I dig it, Aldarion! Hopefully the poo will prove effective enough.
It appears we've lost Timothy and potentially Caelius (though he's posted in some other games recently, so we'll see). Anyone have a friend on the boards who might want to play an arcane character? Otherwise we'll go back to the recruitment thread.

Poor Wandering One |

Hey all.
I am afraid I will need to drop out of this game. While it is true I am a lifer here as Tallgrass said recent work/life events have made keeping up with this game impossible.
You are an excellent group and it is still quite early in the first book so a replacement will not be hard to find.
I have quite enjoyed playing in this campaign and only leave under duress. Please accept my sincere apologies,
~Poor Wandering One formerly Caelius now only a lurker.

Aldarion the Sage |

Sorry to see you go. And Timothy too. Both excellent characters just beginning to develop. I was looking forward to Caelius bringing forth a plan to avoid so much bloodshed, he seemed the more conscientious voice whereas Aldarion, while gentle and objective, can be too intellectually aloof sometimes. But I totally understand what it is to have a busy life. Take care.

Aldarion the Sage |

Right, GM Tallgrass. For some reason I mixed up 'grapple' with 'entangle'... it's even in the spell's name, lol. Seems natural that there should be a more powerful version of this spell though, one that does grapple foes... will have to check.

Saronian |

Aldarion the Sage |

Welcome Saronian. Agreed, another healer is not a bad thing... especially with my melee combat skills (or the lack thereof). ;)

Aldarion the Sage |

@Saronian - We usually play weekdays 1-2 posts per day and skip weekends (with a few exceptions). GM Tallgrass may have informed you, however, he's been having some issues lately that keep him from a daily posting schedule. So he might respond tonight, tomorrow perhaps, I can't really say. So far though it's been a very enjoyable game despite these minor delays, so I advise hanging in there. :)
