Sorry to hear about Petrova - sounds like she fit in well and will be missed.
I'm glad that Feral and I will both be able to join the game, though. Recruitment threads are brutal enough without knowing that it's a head-to-head thing.
As for my PC, I had been thinking of an infiltrator ranger or an inquisitor, but I'm quite flexible, and interested to hear everyone's views on what would be useful. Was there a key role that Petrova played that now needs to be filled? Based on the characters in the group, it seems like you're good on arcane magic, and probably divine as well, and maybe a little short on martial characters. If that's not how it's playing out in Trout's world, however, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

To my mind, our biggest needs are a dedicated ranged damage dealer who can overcome damage reduction (clustered shots is a nice feat, and silver arrows are also useful.) And, a Support character
By support, what I mean is a dedicated buffer. Protection from Evil, morale bonuses, shield other, that sort of thing. Basically, someone to help us hit harder and take fewer hits.
Also, we're getting a lot of conditions thrown at us (Poison, Ability Damage, etc.) We need to be able to remove those conditions. Rohini can do some of this stuff, and some of the buffing, but looking over her selected spells, she's not going to be able to do it today.
Anyway, hopefully Kanthuun's Gust of Wind will take care of the cloudkill before Talon and I start taking lots of Con damage. I'm not sure how we get rid of the Fatigued condition, but we'll need to take care of that as well.
My $.02, for what it's worth.

Also, I don't mean to act like a coward and run from the thing, but when faced with a daunting Fortitude save and only a +2 class bonus, it seems like the intelligent thing to do is run away. Especially when the spell can't be avoided by acrobatics or the like.

Rohini Soni |

Drovya, a lot of that stuff Rohini can help with. If there are other spells it would be helpful for her to take, I would love to hear it. She has a wand of lesser restoration, so she can definitely help with ability damage. I think part of the difficulty is that Rohini is always the last in initiative order, and before she can act the melee fighters have rushed in without receiving any buffs. Another tricky thing is that spell resources are limited, so it can be hard to know when to use a limited resource like a shield another spell or a bit of luck. Folks should definitely not feel reluctant to request a buff if they feel it is appropriate.
I think a dedicated archer with ability to avoid daemon DR would be great. I don't have strong feelings about the class for the other new addition, but alchemists are fun and versatile, as long as they are good at avoiding blowing up their fellow PCs.
I look forward to Morin and Feral joining the group (although Rohini will miss having another female in the group, and I'll miss Petrova's witty contributions). This is a really fun, atmospheric campaign, and a hazardous one as well, as recent events attest.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Rohini, I didn't notice your wand, and I apologize if I gave any offence. You're right that we need to take time to get buffed in combat too, and for my part I will try to pause before rushing in in the future.
This is a really awesome campaign and we've got some great players. We are now being challenged though, so lets rise to it and kick some daemon butt.
Hanethes, until we can figure out your bullet/gunpowder conundrum, is there another type of ranged weapon you could use? And heck, you're a skill monkey dude and we're about to hit seventh level. Get the gun-smithing feat and put a rank into craft(alchemy) and you could probably make your own stuff.
Also, alchemists are cool, and could probably help out with that as well.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Ok then, while I have a minute, I'm going to look at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd level cleric spells and see what I think would be useful here.

The Elusive Trout |

Alchemists (and characters with training therein) can make special cartridges with craft [Alchemy], and there is indeed a feat Hanethes could take.
@Feral: While many poisons do not work on daemons, I would allow holy water to count as a poison for the fast-poisoning ability in this campaign.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Cleric Spells:
Level 3
• Prayer, allies receive +1 luck bonus, enemies -1 penalty on attack, weapon damage, saves, and skill checks
• Delay Poison, Communal
• Nap Stack, Communal (this might be better on a scroll)
• Remove Disease
• Resist Energy, Communal
• Stone Shape (so useful in so many ways)
• Summon Monster III
Level 2
• Delay Poison
• Protection from Evil, Communal
• Remove Paralysis
• Lesser Restoration
• Shield Other
• Silence
• Surmount Affliction
Level 1
• Abundant Ammunition (oh wow, that could help with our silver arrows issue)
• Bless
• Liberating Command
• Obscuring Mist
• Protection from Evil
• Remove Sickness (this removes disease, nausea and sickened condition)
• Sanctuary
Some of these you already have, but that’s what looks good to me. Suggestions by others are welcome of course.
All of these can be found at the d20pfsrd.

Talon Skyfall |

Well, AC buffs so at least one of us can tank big creatures like the guardian would help a lot. Dispel magic would be very useful to counter the various spell-like abilities. And as good as Kanthuun is, another arcane would be nice. Though I do like the alchemist Feral put forth. And Drovya's suggestions are all very good ones. Don't forget align weapon which is also something we need.
Drovya
Lesser Restoration will heal the fatigue as well as just resting for 8 hours.

Morin Tidelock |

An archer with some buffing abilities? I'd be happy to do that, and will think about what would fit, and would welcome suggestions.
I think the ranged damage-dealing difference between a dedicated archer and the characters Feral posted is pretty significant, but it sounds like we need something more than a one-trick pony.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Talon, if you're going to bump up to Heavy Armor, Arasmes has a suit of +1 full plate. If you go with that, now that I'm 7th level, I could take Rogar's breastplate and wear it without arcane spell failure chance.

Talon Skyfall |

Yea, that sounds like a good idea. How hard would it be to find someone to refit it?
And what Feral said.

Hanethes Starsprings |

Yes, I was still figuring out the gunsmith stuff. Ultimately, I think thats the best thing to do is put a skill point in alchemy and make my own stuff. So thanks for the input. :)

The Elusive Trout |

You were granted a necklace with two charges of planeshift that will take you directly back to Katapesh and back to where you are, and I believe I loaded you with treasure so you could afford to do things.
Though you've leveled so fast, you might be behind, if not for your dead comrades' equipment...
It might be good to do a search of the dead enemies, too. Just saying, you know, when things work out that way.

Talon Skyfall |

That is a good idea. Maybe a quick trip back to go shopping and to bury out comrades.

Talon Skyfall |

That too.

Talon Skyfall |

My vote is the alchemist.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Kanthuun, are you still going to take Haste as a third level spell? If not, let me know. One of us should have it, and I get 3rd level spells now.

Skaar |

I went ahead and leveled them both and equipped them with gear...

Truk'tosh |

...for ease of perusal.
Highlights
Bard: Inspire Courage +2, Saving Finale (immediate reroll saves), Heroism, Versatile Weapon (for bypassing DR)
Alchemist: Shield, Barkskin, Heroism, Fly, and False Life.

Morin Tidelock |

I don't imagine they want an optimized archer along.
I'm getting kinda mixed signals on this - Drovya and Rohini both say a dedicated archer would be useful, Talon doesn't want one.
Anyone else have a view?
I don't think I build characters as fast as Feral does, so I'd like a clear-ish sense of where I'm going before I set out. If support is what everyone ends up favoring, and the alchemist is the one Feral seems to be heading toward, I'd be most interested in bard - lots of buffs, adds some arcane, per Talon's suggestion, could contribute damage from range as well, could go arcane archer pretty soon if needed.

Morin Tidelock |

@Morin-A bard with the Saving Finale could have saved two lives in the past battle alone.
Well that's a pretty clear, compelling piece of information. I'll wait a bit to see if any more viewpoints get strongly expressed, but I will plan to build a bard. I haven't played one at this level before (only low-level), and am open to suggestions as to spells, archetypes, whatever.

Talon Skyfall |

I'm a fan of standard bard as most of the archetypes give away inspire courage.

Kanthuun |

Kanthuun, are you still going to take Haste as a third level spell? If not, let me know. One of us should have it, and I get 3rd level spells now.
It is a fantastic spell, and Kanthya is mainly a buffer, so yeah, I'll take it. What might you take otherwise?
We have the Flight of the Conchords joining us, I see!

Morin Tidelock |

I have never seen this film.
Yeah, I wouldn't go out of your way. (Though it does have a certain awesomeness.)
On the topic at hand: as I ponder a bard build, he begins to look a good deal like Zeke. Feral - would you consider it flattery or thievery if I purloined much of this build for my own fell purposes?

Definitely Vampiric Touch, or Magus Healing as I like to call it.
I might take Fly for the other one, even though you have it, if we can both cast it, then more of us can get airborne at one time.
I'm also leaning towards Force Hook Charge though.

Both.
Just remember, be excellent to each other, and party on dudes!
