Talon Skyfall |

Fair enough. I would have just sprung for Great Fortitude if I was worried since we just hit 7. But throwing money at the problem works too.

Talon Skyfall |

Only 3000? You could upgrade your gun to +1 or upgrade your buckler. Or both. Or buy some consumables like potions/scrolls. I plan on doing that with my leftover cash.

Hanethes Starsprings |

Hmmm, okay. Upgrading buckler to +2 buckler is 4,000 gp. That leaves some for alchemy kit and some supplies. My sheet should be updated with purchases, equipment, and new stats by tomorrow.

Haka Thunderfoot |

Finally got Haka sorted out and this alias filled in. Review and suggestions welcomed. Ready to play whenver.
@Trout - how would you like me to do hit points? I saw it in a discussion post somewhere, but I don't recall what your answer was.
And Haka is an entertainer - we could meet at the Dry Wind where he's performing. Or have the priestess connect him up with the party, as recent gameplay seems to be suggesting. Or both, I suppose.

Talon Skyfall |

Well, a few little things. Your CMD is short 1 as your ring also adds to your CMD.
Other than that, he's good. As far as I know, Trout went with player's choice: Either roll or average rounded up.

Talon Skyfall |

No problem. I try to help.

Haka Thunderfoot |

I find the Paizo dice-roller is a devil machine much of the time, so I think I'll go with average.
With a d8 hit die and 14 CON, that should put me at 49 HP:
first level = 8 + 2 CON = 10
levels 2-7 = (4.5 x 6)= 27 + 12 CON = 39
All set now! (Until the first encounter when I realize what I've forgotten...)

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Haka, I looked over your character and had a few thoughts.
Are you sure you want to use a belt to bump your dex. A headband for charisma would help your spellcasting and skills (this is the pot calling the kettle black. I need to bump my Int.)
You have no melee weapon unless the staff sling doubles as a staff. If it doesn't, what do you think of taking weapon finesse as one of your feats?
You have two wands of Longstrider.

Haka Thunderfoot |

Drovya - thanks for taking the time and posing some questions.
I was a bit conflicted about the Dex vs Cha bump. Bumping my Cha would not get me any additional spells - going to an 18 just adds a lvl 4 spell, which I can't cast. It would help my DC and Cha-based skills, though - anything else?. Bumping Dex makes me more effective with my sling, and helps with AC and initiative. I went with Dex based on how I see Haka in play - he'll be able to start bardic performance and cast a spell in the first round, which will mean lots of buffing for everyone - and getting those actions in early seems like a good idea, so the Dex helps there. In the following rounds, he can do some pretty good damage with his sling, especially vs evil outsiders (I understand I can expect to see a few of them...). And AC is nice to have. Make sense, am I missing key pieces?
The staff sling doubles as a small size club - though does it double as a club that is evil outsider bane? Trout?
And the double longstrider wands are a cut and paste artifact, I'll fix that. The wand was a way for me to make up for my 20' move speed with a spell that lasts an hour per casting. I can go faster with expeditious retreat, but not for as long.

Talon Skyfall |

Good call on the average hp. I would drop the music maestro as you have a lot of bardic music rounds as it is. Maybe get resilient to help that fort save? And while it may not help you so much now, you could upgrade it in the future and it would be useful then. But dex is probably better now.

Haka Thunderfoot |

I agree about the Fort save, and I'll think about that trait switch. Resilient as it's currently written didn't make a lot of sense from an RP perspective, and I try to have traits make sense with the character - though it seems I've already made a bit of an exception for Indomitable Faith. :) I was trying to pump my Bardic Performance duration as high a possible, but I agree, 19 rounds/day seems like it would do.
I definitely think a Cha bump makes sense as one of the next things I aim for.

Kanthuun |

A headband of charisma will bump me a bit, but it's not like I need more 1st level spells. I am thinking of getting some bracers of armor at least. Anyone considering a necklace of adaptation? Cloudkill may surface again!

Talon Skyfall |

Bracers are overpriced and not worth it(if you can cast mage armor) until you can afford the +5 version which is 25k. I would suggest a belt of con which is generally more useful. And Cloudkill was really only deadly since we were only level 6. Now that we're level 7, worst case its con damage, it can't one shot us.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

I wasn't actually planning on roleplaying that part. How difficult is it in Katapesh to fill a shopping list? :P
It's a metropolis with over 2 million people, and one of the major trade cities in the world. I'm ok with skipping the RP as well, but I'll post a plan in the gamethread anyway.

Haka Thunderfoot |

Hey Trout - not sure if you're looking for ideas for bringing Haka into the story, but as I mentioned earlier, he gets out and plays music a lot, and it's entirely possible that the party has seen him perform, either at the Dry Wind or elsewhere, so there could be an existing relationship with some of them that way. Also, as something of a scholar of the planes, he's probably spent some time at the College, and may have met or studied with some of the more scholarly types in the group (which means everyone but Han, basically).
I was thinking it might be fun to have him meet everyone at the Dry Wind after they see him perform, but that sounds a lot like how Petrova came into the story - that could be good, or could be bad. Either way, he'll be ready to hit the road to Abaddon right away.
Looking forward to getting a post into that gameplay thread...

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Maybe they meet Haka in the market place and he helps them get a better deal on some of the sales or something. It would make more sense for us to give him a negotiators fee or a part of the spoils that way. Just a thought.

Earplugs +2 save vs. hearing effects, -5 hearing-based Perception.
Eschew Materials Cast spells without materials, if component cost is 1 gp or less.
Extend metamagic rod (lesser) (3/day) Metamagic rods hold the essence of a metamagic feat, allowing the user to apply metamagic effects to spells (but not spell like abilities) as they are cast. This does not change the spell slot of the altered spell. All the rods described here are use-activated (but casting spells in a threatened area still draws an attack of opportunity). A caster may only use one metamagic rod on any given spell, but it is permissible to combine a rod with metamagic feats possessed by the rod's wielder. In this case, only the feats possessed by the wielder adjust the spell slot of the spell being cast.
Possession of a metamagic rod does not confer the associated feat on the owner, only the ability to use the given feat a specified number of times per day. A sorcerer still must take a full-round action when using a metamagic rod, just as if using a metamagic feat he possesses (except for quicken metamagic rods, which can be used as a swift action).
The wielder can cast up to three spells per day that are extended as though using the Extend Spell feat. Lesser metamagic rods can be used with spells of 3rd level or lower.

Rohini Soni |

Sorry for my absenteeism all. Lots to do at home with Christmas coming up and getting the family ready to go visit my folks in Austin.
As I mentioned before, Rohini is mostly "buying" from the loot:
Petrova's +1 Mithral shirt (-1050gp)
Petrova's cloak of resistance+1 (-1000gp)
Petrova's boots of elvenkind (-1250gp)
Pearl of Power 4 (-8000gp)
She asks the trio to sell her Mithral shirt (+550gp)
She also asks them to buy her some silver crossbow bolts and to get a layer of alchemical silver applied to her +1 spear (90gp).
I'll determine her final list of scroll/wand purchases based on a final estimate of what she has to spend. Is it more than 13K or less?
Finally, I'm not sure what this means: "Should Rohini present the soulgems, the 3,000 gp in services will also be granted in the form of a writ." Is this a writ for future services from the temple? What can it purchase now? Has Talon already figured this 3,000gp into the loot division, or is this 3,000gp Rohini can spend on divine stuff to benefit the group?

The Elusive Trout |

It is on a separate line, methinks, and the gold in question is something one can use to purchase crafting and spellcasting from associated vendors/crafters.
I think the concensus was that this would be used to aid in altering weapons and armor and the cutting of the faultstone. Am I wrong?
@Kanthuun-
You... you may have a phobia.

Rohini Soni |

Yeah, I'd like to hear from folks on that. Part of me wonders if it might be fair for Rohini to buy things like scrolls of neutralize poison, etc. and healing/lesser restoration wands, etc. out of this pool of 3000gp, even if more than her 600gp "share." Thoughts on how to spend the writ?

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Definitely get the faultstone cut. That turns it from a 2000gp rock to an 8000gp rock. I'd much rather get 1500gp than 400gp for it.
Rohini, I think the Church of Sarenrae its "granting" (Trout's word, not mine) us the scrolls, potions and whatnot. That 3,000gp in services is in excess of that. Please correct me if this is wrong.

Rohini Soni |

That's my understanding too, Drovya. I'm thinking about additional stuff. What we got from the church is a big help, but I don't think it's sufficient. I'm wondering what additional divine stuff we might want to buy, with all the poison, disease, and ability damage rampant in Abaddon.
Who has the faultstone right now? Where do we get it cut? Has it been factored into the loot totals yet?

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Probably ask the Church of Sarenrae about a good jeweler. As for the rest of it, let's see where we're at with Haka, Hanethes, Kanthuun and Talon then decide.

Talon Skyfall |

The loot totals don't include th faultstone since I didn't know the value. And as for the 3k in divine services,I'm okay with letting Rohini handle that.

Rohini Soni |

Here's a first shot at the 3,000 gp divine spending. I'm very open to suggestions and obviously Trout will let us know if some of this is not available.
Scroll delay poison = 150 gp
Scroll communal delay poison = 375 gp
Scroll nap stack = 375 gp
Scroll neutralize poison (CL 7) = 700 gp
Scroll stone shape = 375 gp
Wand of lesser restoration (clerical) (10 charges) = 900 gp (assuming a paladin wand is not available, which would be cheaper since it is a first level paladin spell)
100 gp diamond dust (so, added to the 3,200 from Tikhade, we have enough to cast 3 restoration spells, on top of 3 restoration spells to restore a permanent negative level)
total 2975 gp
Note that Tikhade gave us:
5 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds
a very old scroll of Restoration
8 flasks of holy water,
a scroll of Neutralize Poison (CL 7 presumably)
3,200 gp worth of diamond dust
a scroll of Breath of Life
Note that Rohini already has one CL 5 (druidic) scroll of neutralize poison and a wand of lesser restoration with 20 charges. I figure a total of 3 scrolls of neutralize poison does not seem excessive, since they may not work. I don't know if 30 charges of lesser restoration total seems excessive (new plus old wand).

Talon Skyfall |

Some scrolls of either protection from evil or remove fear would free some slots as they're a little situational to spend the last 25 gold. Otherwise, it looks good.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

I'd prefer a wand of protection from evil over 10 extra charges of lesser restoration.
Regarding the scrolls, did you know that you can decipher them with read magic whenever you want? It doesn't have to be right before you use them. Saves some action economy, which is nice.
Talon, Hanethes or Kanthuun, were you guys able to get everything on the shopping list? I just want to know how much gold I have left to work with in terms of mundane accessories like alchemists fire, etc.

Rohini Soni |

I agree a remove fear scroll is a good use for the remaining 25 gp. Protection from evil is a first level spell, so if others agree Rohini can get a 50 charge wand for 750 gp and do something else with the extra 150 gp. She could buy one clerical lesser restoration scroll (probably not worth the 150 gp) or 6 paladin scrolls if there is a paladin scribe around willing to sell them for the standard 25gp for a first level spell. Doesn't seem highly likely, but it's worth asking...

Talon Skyfall |

A wand of Prot Evil is good too. I wouldn't count on any scrolls/wands made by paladins. Some scrolls of lesser restoration would be nice, I'll help out by spending some of my left over cash on some scrolls too.

Haka Thunderfoot |

Hey gang - I tried to post on Wednesday that I was leaving town and the boards didn't want to hear it. It's pretty brutal timing, with Haka just meeting Everyone and me being unable to post much. I’m sorry it’s worked out thet way. My connection where I am now is pretty iffy, but I’ll check in from time to time.
Trout – please feel free to DMPC Haka as you need to. He’s loud for a Halfling, though able to move stealthily when the occasion calls for it. He’s pretty happy-go-lucky and curious about lots of things, and a friendly sort. In combat he’ll tend to cast a buff spell and begin bardic performance (generally dance, which has a Maori war-dance, foot-stomping, grimacing and chanting kind of thing to it) in the first round, to get everyone buffed, and then will continue to perform while he slings from a distance.

Drovya Gregorovitch |

Drovya's going to do a little shopping done before we return to Abbadon's loving embrace as well. I'll get a list posted soonish.
