Apologies. All my games are in a holding patten until Photobucket allows me to edit maps again. Frustrating.

'Tis okay. We have Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping keeping us distracted here in the states. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate it. Photobucket still out for the count. If it's not back by tomorrow I'll see what I can do to find an alternative.

Dark Archive

Happy Thanksgiving everyone; And someone would have to explain to me what Black Friday is....

Normal service is resumed. Firefox sneaked in a browser update when I wasn't looking and Photobucket objected. Took the opportunity to redo the map.

Brjuo stands poised, waiting for a better opportunity to present itself.

Rev, Can I jump to a place where I can attack the Z?

Male Kobold Rogue 6

and is it still dazed? My combat advantage kinda depends on it. Perhaps we should lure it back into the other room where we will be on firm footing.

Caine

Jumping horizontally works as follows:
Make an athletics check and divide it by 10 (not rounded). The result is the number of squares you can jump over. You land on the square determined by your result and if that is over a pit or chasm, you fall and lose the rest of your move action.
If you move at least two squares before making the jump, divide the check by 5 rather than 10.

You be able to move three squares before jumping, but you'd need to jump over R26, S27 and land in T28 which you might manage on a +9 Athletics. You'd need to roll 15 or above to do it. The drawback is that you'd be running, so attacking at -5 and granting CA to the zombie.

Failure means 6d10 falling damage plus added scythe damage.

Snaggletooth - the zombie isn't dazed any more. In the excitement of getting the maps back, I forgot to update the list properly. Sorry.

"Taunt the damn thing! Make it follow us back to the other room!"

"Your mother smells of elderberries"? I just had this image of Caine taunting a huge undead eyeball and I've now got coffee up my nose.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

Snaggletooth tries to insult the beholder, "Look, Big Eye! You stink like dead fish!!" And he throws his dagger at the beast. 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27 for 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

He then sticks his tongue out at the beholder as his dagger returns to his hand. He then turns around and moves back into the Eye Room. move back 6 squares to Q17

Snaggletooth takes Caine's advice and hurls insults along with his dagger at the floating horror. The blades slices off a non-functional eye-stalk before returning to the kobold's hand.

Caksusa takes in Gratitude's slumped body for the first time and looks angry.

"Even that misbegotten zombie should know better than to attack him. He was harmless and a good healer. Drink blue flame undead!"

So angry is he that his arm shakes and the attack fails completely.

1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18 - Warp Orb (Ref) v zombie. On hit, target is dazed (se)

Blindly and inexorably, drawn by Leo's challenge, the zombie moves towards the paladin, dwarfing him as it looms over him, seeking to push him into the pit below. Leo holds his ground.

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 - Zombie Smash (AC). On hit target is knocked prone.

Turkey coma over!

Brujo dashes at top speed and jumos up at the beholder

Atletics 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16. So with a running start that's 3 squares.

If that works

Brujo swings his flaming blade into the rotting aberration

Greenflame Blade 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25; Damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 cold/fire

Male Human Bard/Warlord/Warlock/Circus Monkey/Soda Jerk/Etc

Erik moves up and slices down at the monster, his blade humming with invigorating notes.

Move Action: Move to S23
Standard Action: War Song Strike on Beholder; 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 vs. AC for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 damage and on a hit, whenever an ally hits the beholder until TEOMNT they gain 3 temp HP.

I'm not entirely sure of the depth of the pit. If he's completely out of range, then I'll use Cutting Words instead. Just subtract 3 from my roll and put it against the beholder's WILL defense.

"That right! Stupid monster kill nice Gratitude! Monster must be destroyed!" Snaggletooth reinforces Caksusa's statement.

Even though he knows that is NOT the truth

Brujo leaps and strikes true, followed seconds later by Erik. More useless eyestalks tumble eerily into the pit below.

No need for the Athletics check Brujo, it's now within range. Erik, the pit is 60 feet deep.

Leo smiles and strikes, before shifting backwards towards the comparative safety of the further room. The amount of agony the blow inflicts seems disproportionate and thick blue ooze starts to trickle like tears around the blinded socket. Implacably, the paladin renews his challenge on the undead.
Vulnerable to radiant damage. Bloodied.

"Everyone not understand plan?" Snaggletooth asks Caine. "Idea to bring monster here in THIS room." He raises his voice for the others to hear. "Caksusa, Jervace, follow plan please, shoot then fall back. Others will follow, eventually."

He looks over at the captive Rishi. "Monster understand importance of amulet, maybe? Maybe we use it to control him?" He asks the still bound seer.

no action. ready attack if beholder enters room.

Rishi snorts derisively at Snaggletooth's suggestion. "It's got no mind left. Even you can see that. If it did, you'd be at the bottom of that pit by now."

Caksusa nods. "I understand the plan, but that thing killed a friend."

He fires another warp orb at the zombie before backing away.
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36 - v Ref. On hit target is dazed (se). Ooof. And he crits. 14hp damage and the zombie is dazed (se)

Erik, being unable to step back, instead takes a step to the side. With a deep breath (very difficult considering the proximity of the zombie), Erik fills the chamber with his warcry, which echoes throughout the chambers. The beholder is repelled while Erik's allies are carried around on sonic waves molded and directed by the bard.

Move Action: Shift to T23
Standard Action: Shout of Triumph vs. Beholder; 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 (CRIT) vs. FORT for 11 + 1d8 ⇒ 11 + (5) = 16 thunder damage.

  • Push the beholder diagonally to the left 2 squares from where it is now and then 1 more square left.
  • Slide Leo to Q23

Erik - I think I've got everyone where you wanted to them to be, but can you just check?

Reverberations pound through the chamber, dragging the zombie among the companions, where is thumps to the ground, clearly only just holding on by an eyelash.

Oops. Any special requests for Caine while (if) you still have access?

Shift to Q20

Brujo waves his blade, forming a cage of fire around the beholder.

Shielding Fire 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 vs Fort; Damage 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (1, 5) + 4 = 10 fire, and the beholder is marked as if from Swordmage Aegis until the end of the encounter. This does not end existing marks placed by your Swordmage Aegis power, and using Swordmage Aegis to mark another enemy does not end this mark; Miss: The creature is marked as if from your Swordmage Aegis power until the end of the encounter. This does not end
existing marks placed by Swordmage Aegis, and using Swordmage Aegis to mark another enemy does not end this mark. Another creature’s mark supersedes this one; Aegis of Shielding: Until the end of the encounter, when you reduce the damage the target deals using aegis of
shielding, the target takes 9 fire damage.

Use White Lotus Evasion to shift to P19

Brujo's attack is enough and the great orb crashes horribly on its side.

Erik cleans the putrid filth from his shining blade and sheaths it at his waist.

"Not too bad at all. Is everyone alright?"

Before anyone can do anything sensible to stop it, the zombie rises once more, bumping malevolently against Leo.
