I've always ruled that PC's can remain in each others squares but are squeezed with cumulative penalties for each other creature in the square. EX: Hecktor and Luc in a square will both suffer -4 to hit and AC, Hecktor, Luc and the Elemental in a square will suffer -8 to hit and AC. The exception to that rule is tiny/diminutive creatures can share squares with no penalty.

Far too focused on the wights to notice the shadows stirring, Silas walks behind Lucanor ending up just behind him and to the west. Suddenly Silas turns turns to the wights and shouts, "Oi Crusties! Look out it's REALLY slippery there, some idiot spilt a load of oil!"

Incredulously Silas mutters, "Merlokrep? Didn't we kill him?" Before he can say anymore, Lucanor warns about the new undead. At the mention of the word Wraith, Silas goes white as a sheet yet through gritted teeth he growls, "More undead? So be it! Time for them to die the second death!"
With that he cautiously steps forward, his blades responding to will by flaring with soft blue light, leaving faint trails as he weaves them in a complex pattern designed to deflect and parry blows. It's almost as if the undead doesn't care for her, well it's, safety and he spots several openings!
