Not enough space to move between the fence and the hobgoblin's cover?

GM Niles |

Not enough space to move between the fence and the hobgoblin's cover?
Through difficult terrain (its a slight hill) yes.

Lucanor |

Lucanor is caught off guard, but the moment of embarrassment passes as he focuses on the need of the now. Taking his crossbow out, he fires at the nearest hobgoblin, "They've got good cover" He admits with annoyance.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Dmg if that hits: 1d8 ⇒ 2

GM Niles |

Hecktor has 2 hours to update or I'll DMPC him to move combat along. So expect an update around 12pm CST.
Also, take a look at the map HERE to check positioning/flanking and what not.
Also I marked on the Current Map in the campaign settings up top where this encounter occurred.

MAP
Round 2, Fennec dies in 2 more rounds.
Also note, Razorcrows do not AoO because they are flying above the square so feel free to use ranged attacks without provoking.

Hecktor |

I can't see on the map what i'm closest to, so i'm assuming still the hobgoblin. So resolve when it can :)
Attacking:
Scythe attack: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 4 = 8
Ugh....lousy result :)
Edit:
Shame on me, i had forgotten in profile what dmg is on my weapons. Updated in profile.

Gared the Ranger |

Gared drops his bow and pulls out his greataxe, attemping to cleave the attacking stormcrow in two.
Attack (greataxe): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage (greataxe): 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Free action: Drop longbow
Swift action: None
Move action: Draw greataxe
Standard action: Attack stormcrow

Silas Hawkwinter |

Noting that Hecktor has closed to melee range Silas faces the Hobgoblin he's fighting, takes a deep breath and unleashes a torrent of bad jokes, "Three Dwarves walk into a bar, the fourth one ducks.
Where are you if a Vrock pushes you a against a wall? Between a Vrock and a hard place.
What do you call a mage duel? A spelling B.
What do you do when a dwarf is drowning? Take your foot off his head.
What did the judge say to the halfling? Will the defendant please rise."
Standard Action: Silas casts Hideous Laughter at the Hobgoblin Hecktor is fighting, DC15 will save.
Move Action: Silas equips his bow.

GM Niles |

Gared drops his bow and pulls out his greataxe, attemping to cleave the attacking stormcrow in two.
Attack (greataxe): 1d20+3
Damage (greataxe): 1d12+3Free action: Drop longbow
Swift action: None
Move action: Draw greataxe
Standard action: Attack stormcrow
The Razorcrow is about 20feet above you, better to use the bow methinks.

GM Niles |

I'll update the combat to this point.
Initiative order:
Hecktor moved, attacked, missed
Silas -4hp cast hideous laughter adding 1 to the dc for awesome rp
Gared gonna dm call this one and use your bow
Hobgoblins x2
Michael* and Razorcrows x4 WE ARE HERE IN INIT
Percival* -8hp and Lucanor
GaredBow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 bowdmg: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Gared hits the Razorcrow which squawks indignantly.
SHG will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
SHG falls prone at Hecktor's feet. Hecktor smiles broadly.
NHG scoops up his discarded bow and shoots at Hecktor.
Stay way from me brudder!
bow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Razorcrows
The one that Gared hit flaps off in a southerly direction.
2 fly to Percival and begin clawing at him
Razorcrow2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 talon: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1
Percival is clawed for 2 dmg total. 2 attacks 1dmg each
Razorcrow3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 talon: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
One flaps over to Silas and attacks
Razorcrow4: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 talon: 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
This one scores Silas across the arm with its talons. 4 dmg.
I know I only rolled one attack but I was counting 1 roll for 2 natural attacks, saves me some time.

Lucanor |

Round 2
"Hecktor, you finish that one near you, we can take care of the 'uderbrudder' shooting at you." Lucanor moves north and west a bit to fire at the northern hobgoblin.
Hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Dmg if that hits: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Hecktor |

If i kill the goblin, it'd be stylish if for a possible decap...seeing as my previous profession involved such motions ^^. So let's see. Please correct me if i'm miscalculating on the dmg roll.
Strength Bonus: When you hit with a melee or thrown weapon, including a sling, add your Strength modifier to the damage result. (str mod =40
Wielding a Weapon Two-Handed: When you deal damage with a weapon that you are wielding two-handed, you add 1-1/2 times your Strength bonus. Str modifier: 4 x1.5=> 6
Since round 3 might start when im working, following are:
Attack prone goblin: 1d20 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 = 24
Dmg: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8

GM Niles |

If i kill the goblin, it'd be stylish if for a possible decap...seeing as my previous profession involved such motions ^^. So let's see. Please correct me if i'm miscalculating on the dmg roll.
** spoiler omitted **
Since round 3 might start when im working, following are:
[dice=Attack prone goblin]1d20+1+4
[Dice=Dmg]2d4+5+6
Pretty sure your calculating things wrong here.
Attack = BAB+STR+MWK Bonus so 1+4+1= +6 (It's prone so +4 more for this round) for a grand total of +10
Damage= Base Weapon+ 1.5*Str so 2d4+6 not sure where you got the +5 to damage from.

GM Niles |

Round 2 so far.
Initiative order:
Hecktor moved, attacked, missed
Silas -4hp cast hideous laughter adding 1 to the dc for awesome rp
Gared gonna dm call this one and use your bow
Hobgoblins x2
Michael and Razorcrows x4 WE ARE HERE IN INIT
Percival-8hp and Lucanor*
Waiting on Michael and Percival, I'll check again around 8-9pm CST and update if necessary. If no update by tomorrow morning then I'll DMPC around 5-6AM CST.

Silas Hawkwinter |

I know you're still on round 2, but posing my actions for round 3 in case it happens while I'm sleeping.
Silas will maintain Satire unless both hobgoblins die, (assume he's poking fun at their googly eyes, the poor weapons training they have and their unsanitary habits, etc...)

Michael Stamford |

Michael rides up the hill and turns to face the hobgoblin as he and Adrienne unleash a torrent of attacks.
"You're not safe anymore!
Fight with Mount check DC 10: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Michael attack, using Power Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 24
War Hammer Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
The +1 to my attack is the higher ground bonus I get for being mounted, since my mount is a large creature and the hobgoblin is medium.
Adrienne bite attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Adrienne bite damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Michael attack crit confirmation roll: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 11
And the crit is not confirmed. Poo.
Free Action: Attack with mount ride check
Move Action(both): Move up the hill
Standard Action(Michael): Attack with war hammer
Standard Action(Adrienne): Attack with bite

Silas Hawkwinter |

Looks like Dr Lawson is in trouble, change of plan for Silas in round 3. Daze won't work on a Razorcrow so Silas will try to shoot the one attacking the Doctor. I hope for the Doctor's sake Silas gets to use the attack roll from my previous post.

GM Niles |

Round 3 Begins
Initiative order:
Hecktor attacks, hits
Silas attacks, kills
Gared <=================================We are here in initiative.
Hobgoblins x2 both wounded -9/-8
Michael and Razorcrows x4
Percival -8hp and Lucanor
Fox bleeds out and dies next round.

Michael Stamford |

If the hobgoblin that's in front of Michael does anything to provoke an AoO, Michael and Adrienne will both take it. I'm assuming that he dropped his axe when he picked his bow back up. So if he tries to pick the axe back up, tries to shoot, or he tries to move away from me, he gets splattered. I've got him trapped good.
Michael AoO damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Adrienne AoO Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Adrienne AoO damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Michael continues his attack on the goblin in front of him.
"I wouldn't be worried about your brother anymore. You've got me to deal with now!"
Michael attack, power attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 6
Michael damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
Adrienne bite attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Adrienne bite damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
If I don't have to move to continue my attack I'm going for a full attack. Adrienne gets two hoof attacks as well in that situation.
Adrienne hoof attack 1: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 5 = 5
Adrienne hoof attack 2: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 5 = 3
Adrienne hoof damage 1: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Adrienne hoof damage 2: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

GM Niles |

Poor little bugger.
You guys still have 2 rounds of actions to save him. DC 10 str check to open the trap and dc 15 heal to stop the bleeding.

GM Niles |

[dice=Adrienne hoof attack 2]1d20+3-5
[dice=Adrienne hoof damage 1]1d6+1
[dice=Adrienne hoof damage 2]1d6+1
See the problem with rolling your AoO before you get one. Now I can totally metagame and take the AoO knowing that the HG won't get hit. I'll roll AoO's if you don't mind or I'll call for them, you don't want to give me an advantage do you?

Silas Hawkwinter |

Do we want to save the fox? Silas should be able to open the trap but can't staunch the bleeding.

Michael Stamford |

Yea, I see that now. Oh well. Live and learn.

Gared the Ranger |

Gared strings another arrow and lets it fly towards the stormcrow to his south, then moves towards the trapped fennec. Gared won't move within range of the stormcrow next to the fennec though.
Attack (longbow, Point Blank Shot): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage (longbow): 1d8 ⇒ 5
Free action: None
Swift action: None
Standard action: Attack stormcrow
Move action: Move towards fennec

GM Niles |

Gared strings another arrow and lets it fly towards the stormcrow to his south.
Attack (longbow, Point Blank Shot): 1d20+5
Damage (longbow): 1d8
The wounded or unwounded one?

Gared the Ranger |

The one farthest to the south, as it isn't threatening anyone and I won't have to take penalties for shooting into combat.

GM Niles |

They are all flying up between 10-20 feet so no penalties for any of them. The one furthest south is running away, You'll kill whichever one you hit.

GM Niles |

Round 3
Initiative order:
Hecktor attacks, hits
Silas attacks, kills RC
Gared attacks, kills RC
Hobgoblins x2 both wounded -9/-8
Michael and Razorcrows x4
Percival -8hp and Lucanor
Fox bleeds out and dies end of round 4.
North HG picks up Axe. Provokes 2 AoO AoOMike: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 AoOdmg: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 AoOAdrienne: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 AoOdmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Adrienne's bite is fierce, but the force of Michael's swing causes him to miss the Hobgoblin. The Hobgoblin, near death, full withdraws screaming RUN BRUDDER, THEYS AINT EASY PREY He moves 60' north off the combat map.
South HG stands up. Provokes AoO from Hecktor AoOHecktor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 AoOdmg: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 9 Southern HG hearing his brother yelling, decided discretion is the greater part of valor, he withdraws 60' south off the map.
Michael you can choose to pursue one of them on your turn and I'll consider them dead no rolls needed, but you cannot get them both.
Percival you took your action already for round 3.
Lucanor you can take a potshot at one of them, the more heavily wounded one is to the north.
The razorcrows having no one to handle animal on them, flap off in different directions.
Combat over.

Silas Hawkwinter |

Silas will free the fernac from the trap as gently as he can, although he doesn't have the skills to stabilise it.

GM Niles |

DC 10 str check please
Also, everyone has 1 full round of actions before the Firefoot Fennec dies.

Silas Hawkwinter |

"Poor thing", mutters Silas, "the least we can do is get you out of there."
Silas tries to release the trap like he was shown. Strength check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
"Can I get a hand with this, it seems to be stuck?"

Gared the Ranger |

Gared attempts to open the trap.
Strength check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
With a grim countenance, Gared braces himself against the ground and wrenches the trap open so that the fennec can be pulled from it.

Lucanor |

Seeing the hobgoblins rush off, Lucanor moves to the cage and attempts to open it.
"Not my showing, fellows. Sorry about that."
Str Check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
And then he casts a spell on the fox, not wanting to take any chances
Casting stabilize
Heal check to help it in addition 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

GM Niles |

The Firefoot Fennec is stable and free.
You've been noticed by a mysterious faction. +1
Waiting on Michael to decide what he wants to do.

Hecktor |

Hecktor looks at the wound Percival sustained.
"Lawson, the wound looks filthy. Better disinfect that before you use the healing liquids."
Hecktor takes out the flask of whiskey and a clean cloth from his pack , puts some of the strong alcohol onto the cloth and hands it to Percival.

Silas Hawkwinter |

"Looks like I took a scratch too from one of those filthy birds, I suppose cleaning it will hurt more than the actual attack. Aie that smarts! Ah, ah well it's done now. We probably shouldn't linger here if the Doctor is in a condition to travel, for we have far to go."
