Meanwhile, the rest of you continue your charge inside.

It appears quiet and well appointed, though several of you notice signs of overturned vases, bunched over rugs, and small bits of blood spilled in the hallway. There's definitely been a struggle here. Everyone but Andrietta is fairly sure there's someone hiding near the top of the stairs. Then you hear the screams of children, followed by a voice that sounds roughly like Andrietta's. Or what Andrietta would sound like if Andrietta were a man, speaking in a quavering and cranky falsetto. "Erastil would want what's good for the COMMUNITY, but frankly, my unfortunate and foolish fledglings, I only want what's good for ME!”

BBG 3 delays for a more dramatic moment.

This large, spacious foyer has high ceilings and is richly appointed. North of the door sits a large planter where an indoor tree is bathed in light from the skylight above. A massive staircase gradually ascends to a second floor above. Two sets of double doors on the east and west wall lead farther into the house. Another set of double doors stands behind the stairway. Leather padded chairs are interspaced throughout the room. Ignoring all this, most of you run straight up the stairs, demanding the surrender of the person you detected crouched behind the bannister.

Meanwhile, Martim’s voice calls out, “Andrietta, don’t kill our dad! You said you wanted to protect him!”

“Never trust a tengu, child. Don’t you know we’re deceitful and selfish?” The quavering falsetto Andrietta voice calls out. “Slaughter the parents, then get to secure places afterwards!” Then stepping through the door, a person who looks exactly like Andrietta, only covered in blood, comes out and addresses you. “Don’t worry, my dears. I’ve spared the children. After all, there’s nothing more compelling than a living witness!

Then the vision of the false Andrietta shimmers and changes into a tall, dark man with two swords on his back. You all recognize him immediately as the bad sport from the Tame the Lion Game from the Carnival. He driops the fake quavering falsetto in favor of his own low-pitched rough masculine voice that bellows as he attacks. “Children! Take heart! Borvius seems to have a rather large ego. Wonder how much poking it takes before he blows up?

"Best listen! Vralk did much better than your boss at King of the Carnival game!" Stali yells.

"Borvius Manchello! COWARDLY KORVOSAN *FAILURE*! TIME to PAY!"

Andrietta will pull katana and board defensively and guardedly advance, risking the possibility that either of the two thugs at her side will attempt to whack at her.

Single Move, Fighting defensively, Readied Attack if Borvius approaches within reach, Current AC 22(24 vs. Borvius) If thugs have AoO, she'll be triggering them. Don't see many other options now that Smite is fired up.

Readied Attack:

MWK Cold Iron Katana(Smite): 1d8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8

Meh.

Red Short Sword: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 2 = 18
Blue Short Sword: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 = 7

Both miss.

"What's the point of this?" A battered Red drops his sword. "I'm not paid enough for this!"

Yellow, torn apart by Gallako's claws, also drops his sword. "Me neither!"

Both thugs full withdraw, one running to the Parlor, the other to the Billiards Room. Meanwhile, Blue yells, "Cowards! How are we gonna prove ourselves to the boss if you run?" He charges Hikaru.

Stali watches with a wry amusement as blue makes what he considers a foolish mistake. Time to demonstrate why being flanked is a bad choice. At least he will survive my attack.

Borvius, seeing the fury in both Andrietta and Chak's eyes, does in this situation what any 'brave' bandit leader would do.

"Hells!" He full withdraws from Chak, and flees straight into the children's room. "Sorry kids, I tried to save you, but now I'm outta here. Good luck with the Birds."

Blue looks up. "Boss?!" Then sags with disappointment. "I surrender!"

The woman rogue at the top of the stairs does not have a lot of good options. With her boss grappled, her partner down, and warehouse thugs running left and right, she wants out. But the only rope is in the children's room, where the scary Chak already is, and the even scarier Andrietta is heading.

She decides to take her chances on the stairs, hoping that Andrietta will be too focused on her boss to want to bother with her. So she tumbles past...

Andrietta kicks open the master bedroom door. An oversized bed sprayed in blood rests in the middle of the room.

This room is a scene of macabre theatre. Both the Braeton parents are clearly dead, and likely posed. Canalee's body sits on the floor with her arm and face draped on the bed. Arhaneem reclines in a chair, with his eyes closed as if resting. Rapiers, wet with sticky blood, hang from their limp grasps—as if they had been fighting and finally succumbed to their wounds.

Meanwhile Gallako and Vralk position themselves to prevent Borvius's flight... With no one stopping Red and Yellow, they smash the glass and flee off the map.
