Yeah it wasn't a live or death game for the Players.. I ment player characters.

It was insane how the dice worked out.

Each play + myself used different dice each round.

They gave me the dice that rolled 1s for them and I would roll 20's, back and forth.

they would grab me random dice from the tackle box I would roll 20s, they would then take that dice and roll 1's.

It was insane the sure randomness factor of that happening, for the 3 full turns it took me to kill them.

I thought the opening round of combat in their campaing was crazy for them, in a illusionally battle against Dretches and me rolling 14 20s in a row with multiple dice was a crazy randomness. The game two days ago just blows that out of the water.

Never in my life have I seen 30 rounds of Only 20's or 1's rolled across literally a couple hundred dice.
I have been playing since September of 1987 with the same table that Had those rolls happen.

Sorry I haven't been posting much. My job has been slammed so close to the holidays. I'm still here though!

I'll try to get something up tonight.

Finally back. Sorry for being offline for so long girls&boyz, I had some serious issues related to identity theft attempt and such, as a result of burglary. Anyway, I am on my way to Africa (where I work), I'm writing this from Frankfurt airport. I will be reading all your posts and start posting regularly from tomorrow.

I most probably won´t be able to check or post here in the next 3-4 days, so please excuse me.

Christian or not, Merry Christmas to you all, have a nice time with your family and friends and remember what this celebration is really about.

Ill post a map of the area after Christmass, I don't expect any posts for the next couple days.

Merry Christmass as well.

I just realized that I had not updated the campaign tab. Done. added a link to the google site.

I've looked over the threads, than the PC's and then some more :-) Honestly, I had a very hard time trying to determine "who goes where" (our marching order), assuming the fact that tunnels stay at least 10' wide so we can have 2 persons aside. Looking at your stated preferences vs what we have available, I would suggest one of the following options:

Option 1 - "Follow the blind people"

Row 1 - Dolok, Tanith
Row 2 - Leto, Tamael
Row 3 - Horgus (NPC "noble" who hired us)
Row 4 - Anevia and blind (not named) old elf
Row 5 - Niesen and Thesara

I believe that both pros and cons are immediately visible - we'll be blind as bats (low perceptions from Tanith and me, no infravision, light source ahead), so we'll be surprised, trapped, whatever, but at least we'll have our "tough guys" ahead (high AC, Leto can charge from 2nd row, etc...)

Option 2 - "Hit us from behind...please"

Row 1 - Leto/Blackpaw, Niesen (or Tanith)
Row 2 - Tamael, Thesara
Row 3 - Horgus (NPC "noble" who hired us)
Row 4 - Anevia and blind (not named) old elf
Row 5 - Dolok, Tanith (or Niesen)

Pros and cons again - finally we have some low-light vision, scent (Blackpaw) and perception (Niesen or Tanith) ahead, se we should not be surprised so much. Light source (Tanith) can go either to 1st row or at the back.

What do you all think?

Male Human (Varisian) Cleric 1

Let's go with option one.

My experience has been putting the scouts ahead does not work that well in practice. I like option 1.

Scouting with darkvision and AC9 does not work.

Plus, for some reason I seem to miss the fact that even in option 1 Tanith have a mighty +7 Perception, so he is very well suited to the role (I think the highest perception of all, not counting NPC's). Just do not expect a lot of sneaking from the two of us ;-)

Of course, if any of you have a better idea, or a simple modification of the proposal, feel free to share it.

Well, if we were CE, we'd send the NPC with the broken leg 40 feet ahead of us...with torches...and bells...

But we're not, so we won't. The first option looks fine to me.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Don't forget that your wolf CAN attack also, not just bear you from A to B.. Though if you are riding it, it will not be able to trip anything.

Seelah HP 19/19 | AC 18 (20 with shield raised) | F 6 R 4 W 6 | Longsword +7 1d8+4 | Athletics +7 | Diplomacy +5 | Intimidation +5 | Lore +3 | Medicine +4 | Religion +4 | Survival +4 | Thievery +2

Hope you all had a good start into the new year!
Still: Happy New Year!

Let´s discuss stuff in this thread, else gameplay becomes cluttered, don´t you think?
Before coming up with this character i looked at all the mounted combat rules and also stuff for animal companions. I would like to run that as RAW/RAI as possible, which means making handle animal checks for most things etc.
I also know how to use the wolf, don´t worry.
But on a charge-by attack i think the wolf cannot attack, he would need spring attack for that. Anyway, if we get into deeper trouble and have tougher enemies, perhaps i will use him as a emergency saver.
Untill then i intend to lance things and eventually also overrun.

Sczarni

Then you need to go through and change Blackpaw a tiny bit. You should only have 7 tricks, 6 from its 2int and 1 from your level per the animal companion rules. Currently he has 9/7 tricks known

I am fine with running blackpaw/you 100% raw if that's your desire.

im more of an interpretative DM. Meaning if someone describes something good, they get a hidden bonus. For example, diplomacy check that you actually type out an awesome couple paragraphs will get a bonus.

Any non-prey type animal, can move and do natural attacks if they are carrying things like a rider. They just can not use any special attack while bearing more then a "light load". This is true for any NPC/Monster you encounter in the world, so should be true for you players as well.

If you were riding say a pony, not a wolf. I would never suggest that it has the capability without you spending feats to teach it how to do so.

The wolf can attack at the end of a charge right now, what spring attack does is basically negate the provocation of an attack of opportunity that the wolves natural attack (bite) would provoke against an armed target.

Edit: Handle Animal you have +6 and Ride you have +4 if I am reading your sheet correctly. Anything you can take 10 on so 16 handle animal or 14 riding checks I will assume you pass automatically so you don't have to roll, unless you really want to.

Seelah HP 19/19 | AC 18 (20 with shield raised) | F 6 R 4 W 6 | Longsword +7 1d8+4 | Athletics +7 | Diplomacy +5 | Intimidation +5 | Lore +3 | Medicine +4 | Religion +4 | Survival +4 | Thievery +2

Ha you got me there for a second^^

Blackpaw only has 7 tricks actually.
Tricks Attack [Trick] , Attack [Trick], Attack Any Target [Trick], Combat Riding [Trick] , Come [Trick], Defend [Trick], Down [Trick], Guard [Trick], Heel [Trick]

Italized are either double or a trick series, which is not a trick per se. Just a option in herolab under which other tricks are gathered.

I´m training this so i know it better for PFS here, but i´m fine with your rules in general. Just want to try it a bit so i see it in action.

Ride by attack is what i mostly do at the moment. That way i can charge in the next round too normaly, but the wold cannot attack then mostly.

Male Human (Varisian) Cleric 1

We're waiting on Tessara, I know she was having trouble posting over the holidays, I don't know if her schedule is back to normal yet.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Just giving you all a heads up, just spent the past day and half in the hospital. Even though I took extra care with the crazy cold I ended up with the bronchitis. Add having smoked for 23 years and quit 8 days ago.. My lungs and such are going crazy. Im still inpatient,at the va here. Using my dad's tablet to make these posts, ive read nothing between my last posts and this one. As either your DM or fellow player I had to tell ya all whats what. No clue how long its going to take me to kick this. But like I said doc said maybe discharge me tomorrow.

Your gameplay thread will be my first post when I get out, because the math for 1 round of combat is easier to figure out than the math for 1 month of kingdom buildings rules. and A lot quicker :)

Seelah HP 19/19 | AC 18 (20 with shield raised) | F 6 R 4 W 6 | Longsword +7 1d8+4 | Athletics +7 | Diplomacy +5 | Intimidation +5 | Lore +3 | Medicine +4 | Religion +4 | Survival +4 | Thievery +2

Get well soon!
Good decision to quit smoking, i did that a long time ago.
Stick to it and your life will really improve!

Sorry, everybody! I was having some internet issues, but I'm back on track. I'll post soon.

Male Human (Varisian) Cleric 1

Gm, get well, soon, breathing problems bite, I have cold induced asthma and the -20 degree temps have had me walking around with my emergency inhaler in my front pants pocket.

Tessara, glad to have you back.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

No worries Tessara, If you wanna go ahead and post sometime before Saturday morning. I will continue the gameplay when I get onto the computer again on Saturday. I am home now.

Ive been dealing with every winter/summer for 15 years. Aspestis(sp) exposure while in the navy. We were given gloves but no breathing masks when we stripped a few buildings on the crap. So thankfully the VA covers it 100%. Still sucks but at least its service related and I don't have to deal with the (non)affordable care act. I went through an entire brand new albuterol on Monday, that's why I went in. It didn't help at all, I couldn't talk to call 911.. I couldn't find my cell so I couldn't txt anyway.. had to wait for a roomy to get home.. Im Good now.. things are well almost back to normal.. mostly as I knock on wood. Found out since I got home that my local 911 dispatch accepts emails.. so I could have sent them one. lol.

So yeah LSS= Ill continue on Saturday morning at some point the campaign, as im just just taking it easy tomorrow.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Remember there is NONE of that stupid you must confirm your crit for it to be a crit. No.

If you hit with an attack that falls within its critical range, it is a crit. 18 w a scimitar vs ac 14 is a crit. 18 vs ac 19 is a miss.

Seelah HP 19/19 | AC 18 (20 with shield raised) | F 6 R 4 W 6 | Longsword +7 1d8+4 | Athletics +7 | Diplomacy +5 | Intimidation +5 | Lore +3 | Medicine +4 | Religion +4 | Survival +4 | Thievery +2

You´re making severe interventions to the game mechanics there.
Are you conscious about the consequences and how that changes the game?
Not that i mind tweaking a bit, but i saw many people do tweakings without knowing what they do there and then being astonished about how things turn out.

Probably due to your conditions you didn´t update the campaign sheet with your houserules. Would be nice if you can do that sometime.

Are you more the kind of ruling things out GM or are you ok with discussing things and getting ot a consensus?

After all, i´m glad you are home again and hope you will be better now!

It also means that anything with an AC above 20 is immune to criticals.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Please re-read the very first post of this discussion thread.

It includes all the house rules you guys agreed to when I took over the table for you.

Everything has been play tested at 2 different tables consisting of 14 players/testers 13 of us are DM/GM/storytellers. aswell as a third table that travels around the renn fairs with our friends who on the circuit.

I am willing to talk about the other things.

The crit confirm, NO. I hate that rule, all feats that apply to the confirm crit are non-existant you can take them but they are wasted feats as I will allow not allow them to be used.

Please read the spoilers in my OP in this thread.

________

There is nothing in the campaign info about them as NOBODY had a single complaint in the recruitment or in this discussion thread. They are the first post in this discussion thread.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Looking though that link. I am willing to run this campaign as PbP here. Some slight changes to the rules for my table. As I am not a society DM, and never will be, so it will differ from Akinra's rules slightly.

1) Yes guns. (they Never do a ranged touch attack they function just like a bow or xbow far as hitting targets)
2) Any Paizo Race
3) 20 point buy (1:1 cost for all points but all stats start at 8)
4) Max starting gold. (if you want to take wealth parents two times you can and start at 1800gold.)
5) 3 traits, one of which must be a WotR campaign trait.(Campaign Traits are NOT bound to specific Mythic Paths) There are no restrictions on taking only one of X type of trait, if you qualify you can take it. So you could take three different campaign traits as long as one is a WotR Trait.)
6) 1 Downfall, You may all be mythic heroes but that does not mean you don't have your Achilles tendon.
6) 3PP allowed on case by case basis, I like some classes like warlord
7) NO evil alignments. You are all champions of the light as such I reserve the right to kill any PC that does any evil acts to the other players.
8) There is no true neutral. All must care about something.
9) Positive Energy is Good
10) Negative Energy is Evil
11) Everything uses max HP
12)

roll a Crit:

If you hit you crit, I do not like confirmation of 20s.
EX1 - Roll 20 +3 hit vs ac 23 = crit hit
EX2 - Roll 20 +3 hit vs ac 24 = miss
EX3 - Roll 18 w rapier +3 hit vs ac 22 = miss

13)
Roll a Miss specifically a 1:

If common item 1:d2 chance of dropping it.
if Master work 1:d4 chance of dropping it.
if a +1 1:d6 chance of dropping it.
if a +2 1:1d8 chance of dropping it.
if a +3 1:1d10 chance of dropping it.
if a +4 1:1d12 chance of dropping it.
if a +5 1:1d20 chance of dropping it.
*Note these chances do stack.. so you can miss twice at most with a common item and 19x with a +5 or better. They reset each different encounter.

14) Downtime rules are in play (just reminding you as you do get some time to do stuff after the 2nd book)
15) You may take use anything from HERE if you wish. Also please note in the feats there because pathfinder removed the xp cost on magical items the feat that reduced xp cost by 25% IS AVAILABLE.
16) Using the 3.5 rules for magic item creation so everything has a XP cost of 1:25 XP:Gold
17) Eberron Conversion <-These feats and classes and such are available.

That is ithink all of them.

Okay, so I misunderstood. You still get to apply all your attack bonuses when determining if a crit threat is a crit. In that case, the only time a crit would not be confirmed is with a range 20 only weapon where you could never hit a target except for the automatic hit rule of rolling a 20.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

That's a mouthful of saying it but yes. a roll of a natural 20 would miss/not crit something that you actually a do not connect with.

The Miss rules my home table decided on back in 03 when we merged 3 tables together.

The Crit rules came about when me or my brother or another of our friends was GM/DM/Storytelling for 12+ players. to speed things up in combat with that many guy/gals tossing dice. Long before we had ever ever heard of Paizo or Pathfinder, which was only a couple of years ago.. one of the guys named Pat pointed out pathfinder so we jokingly call it patfinder cuz he found the system for us.

I am willing to talk about anything, as its been a month or so and nobody raised any objections when I first posted.. I assumed there would be no need to.

But im not a cockroach minus the roach. I want this to be fun for you guys and gal. I just on many levels dispise the confirm crit thing.. even back in 3x. Me and my fellow players voted and We house ruled it the very first encounter we played, against the wishes of our buddy Dan who was the DM. But it has served us very well for give or take ten years of multipule weeks games/campaigns.

Its one thing a table with like 4players perfectly balanced and all that. but life happens, ive never sat as player or dm in 5 person table like that.. all my home tables since 3.0 have been of either 2 players or 7-12+.

Your table of 6 players is the smallest I have ever run since I started 2e back in 92.

Guess that was a misunderstanding then.
But still a natural 20 is not an autohit anymore.

You also said something about mounted combat you wanted to change eventually or rule differently, which i of course would like to know^^

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Ohh right the combat thing. That we can certainly talk about.

I look at it like this, You jump on my back im giving up a piggy back ride. I can still punch someone infront of me.

A warhorse is a combat trained prey animal that can move and attack.
A wolf is a naturally trained for combat as a hunter animal. I see no reason that if he/she is not encumbered enough to reduce movement that it can not move and attack as well.

Biting at something, is to me, much easier to do then to lash out with your teeth and both rear paws.

I know raw wise a cavilier can charge + hit with the lance and the horse can bite and kick. Ive watched that happen at a couple society games I stood around and watched at the source here in minn with characters that are level 1. Unless that venture guide/captain/whatever was completely in the wrong with the call.

Wolf is smarter then horse, even if raw says both are 2int.. Hunter>Prey or hunter would die from starvation.

This is just my thoughts.. still somewhat drugged up on stuff, but 99% clear. I just think its a bad idea to waste a feat on something that I would gladly house rule that's its cool, because ive been shone at the one pfs game iactually played that it is possible raw to do it.. its not even a houserull IDK.

/ramble off

Well for some days i´ll be drugged now too^^
Something with my ear.

I´m mostly doing ride-by attacks, because then i can´t be hit and if something is approaching me, it eats an AoO first.

Silver Crusade

Male appears as a Dwarf to the Eye DM Level 0

Except for them pesky fliers and a good portion of the demonic kind have wings, So just be aware of that.

Silver Crusade

I don't know how many of you have played or read this AP, I think a few have it isn't a big spoiler.. but If you live you will make it to the city of Dresdin at somepoint. Im doing a little spin off from my first warth AP that I ended up with a TPK.

Recruitment starts with people I play or DM for.

Im going to see if I can get some people to rebuild kenabres and Dresden in a twist on the Wrath AP. Your All welcome to come let play if you want.

Recruitment thread

If nobody is interested in a 100% downtime game, disregard.

Sczarni

Slightly confused.

you came from room 1 and went east. You came to a fork NE and SE. you went NE and found room 2. There is 2 exits from room 2, either back where you came from or east. The only western option would be to either back track to the fork or room 1 where you started in.

Male Human (Varisian) Cleric 1

I just went and took a good look at our map. I somehow had a totally different mental picture of what things looked like. I thought we had come to a big room with two exits besides the entrance we had come in. As we talked about two exits, I thought the references to the entrance we had come into was a reference to the 3rd nonexistent exit I had invented in my head, and that it might lead back the way we came.

Now after I have banged my head on the table repeatedly for not checking the map before now, I suggest we ignore Tanith's paranoid delusions (he does have the paranoid trait) and we explore the only new exit.

Sczarni

Fair Enough. Anyone NOT want to go east? If nobody says no by noon central you all will move east, in the same formation you moved here in.

Believe it or not, I had the same "delusion" as Tanith - being to lazy to re-check the map, I simply assumed we have 2 "new exits" and proceeded with that assumption. Feel free to proceed as you suggested.

Anyone not want to go south?

(Edit- Ill keep asking unless someone confirms the direction choice in gameplay, or you all decide on a party navigator who gets to pick left, right, north, south.)

I sort of think so too, too bad I was having fun.

Well.. if you make a choice, we can keep going.

I should have posted this a couple weeks ago. My apologies.

My mother had some major back surgery a few weeks ago. Ive been her hands and feet since then. There is no internet at her place. Ive only really been home a couple times in the past month almost.

I apologize for leaving you hanging here.

Let me know what you guys want to do.. IT will be a couple of more weeks until I am back here and actually able to post as I should.

WE can try and find you another DM to take over for me, OR you guys can hang out for a couple of weeks while I take care of mom.

Sorry but she gave me life, so shes my priority right now.
