Bartan Harrowborn |
@Hadassa: Not that I don't love that Anjali doomed the bird, but technically that 14 that you rolled should have been the bird's Will save, which means it passed her DC 13 and is not doomed.
Dhavyn Barr |
It is not ranged touch. It is spell with a range. Edit: also waiting for Anjsli's (Hadassa's?) action before posting my stabilization roll/action. I could use some clwing. Unless that thing has 15 ft reach of course (I think ten).
Bartan Harrowborn |
Well Doom is ranged touch, right? So 14 was attack roll, and this is the birdy's will save: 1d20+2 fails.
It's not, but we're plenty happy for the bird to fail the save, so let's leave it the way it is :)
Bartan Harrowborn |
Ooh, just noticed... since Dhavyn moved himself behind Khayal, I don't think those two claws would have actually hit him, assuming his mage armor is currently up... he would have had AC 20 against the bird's attacks. Only worth retconning if we are worried he might actually die, I suppose, but could mean a big difference.
Hadassa |
My understanding is that mage armor is not running:
I'm counting on that thing having reach and my mage armor is not running so I need that +4 AC. Next round further distancing! :)
Apologies if I misinterpreted.
Dhavyn Barr |
I took both round 2 & 3 actions since I missed Hadassa's post by a few minutes. I hope this is ok. Especially since the party has done this before. Keep in mind that healing from Anjali brought D back to 1 HP within same round so he still had all actions for that round remaining.
I took 5' step south to get out of birdy aoo range, cast mage armor, then on round 3 I moved W staying out of range and cast burning hands.
Edit: I took some liberties here. I assumed Avenka's check was enough to allow me to get up from prone position. It would have been a shame for her to risk AOO for nothing. Actually I sort of assumed she dragged me the 5 ft and I spent my move to get up from prone position, then cast mage armor, then moved, and finally cast burning hands. :)
Dhavyn Barr |
Btw about something that has been bugging me awhile. Is the Gnoll crone we met really named Anakhsunamun in the adventuring path or is she your invention Hadassa?
I appreciate the humor whoever picked the name.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Ok, level 3... I'm conflicted, Greater Mercy or Furious Focus
Dhavyn Barr |
Flip a coin (dice)?
I'm not sure about a feat choice either. Heighten Spell, Greater Fire Focus or a Wildcard?
Next feat after this (on level 5) must be craft magic arms & armor if I'm to use the gauntlet, so it pushes my metamagics to level 7.
Also I'm still confused about all the references to Gnoll D since I only see B and C on the map. :)
Bartan Harrowborn |
I'm considering taking Reckless Aim for my feat since I don't have to be in melee pretty much ever, and the idea of hitting a random adjacent creature on a 1 could actually benefit us, as long as I only use it when none of you guys are adjacent. LOL
Other option is Weapon Focus (dart) which would apply to my cards. Tough choice for me!
Khayal Bin Haleen |
I am going to go ahead and roll now but not take the HP increase until we get the green light.
HP: 1d10 ⇒ 9Nice

Skills + 3 (2 for class, -1 for int, +1 for trait, +1 for human)
Bonus HP 3 (con +1, favored class +1, trait +1)

Class Abilities
Aura of Courage (Su): At 3rd level, a paladin is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.
Divine Health (Ex): At 3rd level, a paladin is immune to all diseases Yazi!, including supernatural and magical diseases, including mummy rot.
Mercy (Su): At 3rd level, and every three levels thereafter, a paladin can select one mercy. Each mercy adds an effect to the paladin's lay on hands ability. Whenever the paladin uses lay on hands to heal damage to one target, the target also receives the additional effects from all of the mercies possessed by the paladin. A mercy can remove a condition caused by a curse, disease, or poison without curing the affliction. Such conditions return after 1 hour unless the mercy actually removes the affliction that causes the condition. • Fatigued: The target is no longer fatigued.
Feat: Furious Focus (Combat)
Benefit: When you are wielding a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weapon with two hands, and using the Power Attack feat, you do not suffer Power Attack's penalty on melee attack rolls on the first attack you make each turn. You still suffer the penalty on any additional attacks, including attacks of opportunity.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Iron Will is a good one for a fighter...
Khayal Bin Haleen |
Yeah, if I get iron will, I intend to get improved iron will later. I have mostly played enchantment types so it would be a great irony if Khayal got charmed or compelled.
My current favorite PFS character has a possible save DC of 35 on his dominate person, I made him as an experiment to see how high I could get it within PFS. Khayal is a bit of a branching out for me in that he is not a caster and most PCs I play are. I am having a lot of fun with it actually.
Avenka Thalma |
HP: 1d12 ⇒ 12 GREAT !will wait green light too before increasing to 45 ! :)
Hp gain : 12 + 3(con mod)
Bab+1
Saves: +1Reflex, +1 Will
Skills: 4-1 +1(favored class, if it's ok with Hadassa, I don't remember if the choice between HP and skill occurs at each level or just once in the life of the character...) : Intimidate, Knowledge(nature), Survival, Perception
Class Abilities :
Trap sense : At 3rd level, a barbarian gains a +1 bonus on Reflex saves made to avoid traps and a +1 dodge bonus to armor class against attacks made by traps. These bonuses increase by +1 every three barbarian levels thereafter (6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, and 18th level). Trap sense bonuses gained from multiple classes stack.
Feat: Cleave (Combat) :You can strike two adjacent foes with a single swing.
Benefit: As a standard action, you can make a single attack at your full base attack bonus against a foe within reach. If you hit, you deal damage normally and can make an additional attack (using your full base attack bonus) against a foe that is adjacent to the first and also within reach. You can only make one additional attack per round with this feat. When you use this feat, you take a –2 penalty to your Armor Class until your next turn.

Feat ?
Takedown (Ex)
At 3rd level, a huntmaster's dog can make a free trip or dirty trick (entangled) combat maneuver after a successful melee attack. A huntmaster's bird can make a free dirty trick (dazzled or deafened) combat maneuver after a successful melee attack; if the target is already dazzled, the bird can choose dirty trick (blinded) instead. These combat maneuvers do not provoke attacks of opportunity.
This ability replaces cavalier's charge.
Doc
Natural Armor+2
Strength+1
Dexterity+1
Bonus Tricks+1
Tenacious Guardian (Ex)
At 3rd level, a bodyguard can always act in a surprise round (though it remains flat-footed until it acts). As long as its master is adjacent, a bodyguard remains conscious (though it becomes staggered) when its hit points fall below 0. While below 0 hit points, the bodyguard loses 1 hit point per round but gains a +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks, dying only if its hit points reach a negative total equal to its Constitution score plus its master's class level.
This ability replaces evasion.
Bartan Harrowborn |
I'll probably be the one to break the good roll streak...
HP increase: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Aaaand I was right. Damn!
Magus (Card Caster/Staff Magus) 3
New Class Feature: Role Dealer (Su): Beginning at 3rd level, whenever
the card caster randomly draws and throws a harrow card
matching one axis of his alignment, the card’s critical
threat range increases to 19–20. If the card caster draws
and throws a harrow card matching his alignment exactly,
the attack’s critical multiplier also increases to ×3 and the
magus gains a +4 bonus on his confirmation roll. This
ability replaces the magus arcana gained
at 3rd level.
New Feat: Reckless Aim (Ex):
Prerequisites: Point-Blank Shot, Precise Shot.
Benefit: When you shoot or throw ranged weapons at an opponent engaged in melee, you can choose to take a –1 penalty to your AC and gain a +2 competence bonus on your attack roll. However, when you roll a natural 1 on a ranged attack roll made with this bonus, you automatically hit a random adjacent creature that threatens your intended target.
Dhavyn Barr |
Ugh I wanted to chicken out and play it safe but since everyone else is rolling for HP... aaand got 1, too! Nice jinx there Khayal!
HP: 1d6 ⇒ 1 +1 FCB +1 Con = 3 hp
+1 Base Fort & Reflex saves
+1 Feat: Toughness (Wildcard it is!)
+1 Spell (1st): Magic Missile
+1 Bloodline Power: Fire Resist 10
+1 Bloodline Spell: Enlarge Person
Edit: Updated my profile already but since the map still has "old" numbers it should be ok?
Toughness
Benefit: You gain +3 hit points. For every Hit Die you possess beyond 3, you gain an additional +1 hit point. If you have more than 3 Hit Dice, you gain +1 hit points whenever you gain a Hit Die (such as when you gain a level).

Catching up. Busy weekend over here. I won't be around much next weekend either. Going on a trip that requires a LOT of driving. :\
HP: 1d8 ⇒ 7 + 1 = 8hp for level 3.
Doing the rest when I get a chance to read up.
Class Ability:
Revelation: Energy Body
Feat:
Extra Revelation: Healing Hands
Skills: +7
BAB: another +1, bringing her up to +2
Spell: One first level - Bless
Bartan Harrowborn |
I'm really looking forward to when we finally get to buy-n-sell items, I can't wait to enchant my deck of cards!
Bartan Harrowborn |
Are you getting each individual card enchanted?
Deadly Dealer lets me enchant a deck as if it were 50 pieces of ammunition, so I'll do that for a full harrow deck for sure. I also just asked Hadassa if I might be able to enchant smaller amounts of cards, say 5 or so, with different abilities for lower cost than a whole deck. We'll see how that turns out.
Hadassa |
water restored spells to. Nixie's gift to you.
I didn't see a problem buying smaller lots of magic ammunition. Seems like it's commonly done. Accept for PFS. But PFS is boring.

Aww, PFS isn't boring! But it is generally better to find a good group and stick with them, cuz you can end up at a table with some very annoying people in PFS games sometimes. :-D
Dhavyn Barr |
Man. What's with you guys ruining my posts today by posting faster than me, haha! I need to learn to write faster! Just when I was about to hit "submit" to post entry involving Bartan you had already posted!
Well with those rolls it sure made everything more straightforward but I sort of hoped to get the Nixie's aid before we make this guy mad! He sounds powerful. Maybe we can knock the circlet/crown off of its head.
It's nice to see the threads move fast though. Ironically I've now more time to write on weekends than weekdays!
Bartan Harrowborn |
Yeah I'm hoping if we start combat I can go straight for tossing a card at the crown with the intent to remove it from his head. We'll see, though.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Bartan, you need to work on your people err elemental err diety skills.
Hajar nar Jundi |
How do you guys know about the crown? And why wouldn't you let Hajar at least attempt diplomacy!
You guys are one bloodthirsty party....
Dhavyn Barr |
Well Bartan ran detect magic on that thing so his act is justifiable. I mean I'd part the critter from potential source of power as well. The rest of us? Erm. We are just bloodthirsty bastards.
Besides it's pretty safe to assume that thing is extraplanar so would it even really die if we "killed" it. Hmm.
Bartan Harrowborn |
How do you guys know about the crown? And why wouldn't you let Hajar at least attempt diplomacy!
You guys are one bloodthirsty party....
The crown emanated magic, so Bartan made a call on that one. He's smart, but not terribly wise, so he's a bit brash most of the time. And I figured since Avenka already Intimidated him that Diplomacy would be much less likely to work.
Avenka Thalma |
Avenka brings to the table what she is able to. She didn't know about the crown, but saw the creature was not cooperative, so she acted with her strengths. Like Dhavyn said, Hajar is the good cop, and Avenka the bad cop :)
You can't have different expectations with a barbarian :) She waited a bit, but could not wait anymore...
