@Emmeline: Why not?

@Eliah: Welcome to the party! A faerie lynx would be studying you right now, but Xerxes technically doesn't exist yet. :P

@Jubal:
Make your alias so I can see how much better my faerie lynx is than your pet.

Can I use your pet as a mount until I reach level 4? :D

You're all so mean, making a 14-15 year old girl carry all your junk! D:

Emmeline wrote:

Such is the price for creature comforts. Don't worry though, it builds character.

It builds character! Also, whether you like it or not, I'm probably going to use you as a mount since you're bigger and faster than me.

Read my awesome and imposing appearance description, I dare you. Then wait 4-5 years for me to make epic fanart of Arwyne.

I'm currently working on my alias sheet. :3

I...

Do you realize you're putting your information into random categories? Under "Race" you placed "Stats", was that intentional?

Yes, it's intentional, as it lets me put my most commonly needed stats in spoilers for the play-by-post thread. Someone in another PbP showed me that trick.

Emmeline wrote:

Hrm, it makes me squirm but I guess I can see the reasoning.

Checking in and ready to go.

I left Royce's background and storyhook intentionally vague so he can be easily worked into whatever starting premise RVT comes up with.

Royce will eventually be a Shadowdancer. The lady in his backstory who caused him to become one of the Booged will be staying with him (as his shadow), and eventually manifest as his Shadow Companion. For now she's just flavor.

and I taste very good...

Oh man...so I fixed my sheet. Like hell I'm about to run around on foot with a medium load all the time, so now I have a horse, Greymane. As long as he stays alive and let's me use him as a pack-mule I'll feed him and such.

Oh the wonderful life of pet ownership.

Also, 13 Str not 14, and I just saw Max HD so that's nice. Life's little victories

Arwynw, you can play as a Gnome IF you alter/remove/add a few abilities to make her fit the Gnomes of the setting! It will not really alter a lot, but it's important for flavor.

ANYONE WANTING TO PLAY A NON-HUMANMAY, BUT MUST AGREE TO THE ABOVE GUIDELINES! ALSO, NON-HUMANS WILL LIKELY RECIEVE NO SMALL AMOUNT OF INITIAL FEAR/DISTRUST FROM SUPERSTITIOUS HUMANS, WHO OUTNUMBER THE OTHER RACES 50-1.

Useful languages: Sylvan, Draconic, Abyssal, Infernal,Aklo, and the fantasy races native tongues.

Those with pictures of their characters can post the, in your character profile under the website fill-in portion.

As for the Caliban height/weight question, since you took giants, tell me your height and general build and I will calculate your weight.

Arxhpalasim, you may use a re-skimmed Golden Legionnaire.

As for where the adventure starts, still thinking up a name!

Well, she would've been about 11 or 12 when she was tricked into getting into the clutches of her abductors, and 14-15 upon escaping. She would've been fairly average before the experiment.

@Royce: Nice.

Xerxes will still be better than her though.

*pets for-now-imaginary faerie lynx*

Given her rather standoffish and intimidating personality, I'm pretty sure Arwyne would have experienced this anyways, so this doesn't affect anything at all, really.

She'd still be Large-sized. XD

I will also be providing a list of free bonus 'Tale Feats' that you select from at 1st level. These will be tied to various fairytale tropes. These will work like Story Feats, but will be more powerful and carry drawbacks as well. If anyone has any theme suggestions for theirs, feel free to post!

Well, Emmeline is basically a little girl trapped in the body of a hideous monster's body, but she still has the mindset of a child, so...I dunno. And tell me when you get the measurements, if you would.

Red Velvet Tiger, how do you feel about a character being third-tier royalty (you know, youngest of three brothers and all that jazz)? If I can't be a prince I'll be okay with being a knight or something (speaking of which, what's the sort of cultural conventions we're going for? British? German? Irish?).

I just thought of an awesome 1st level feat while trying to think of something for this.

Through the Looking Glass: At some point in her life, the character caught a glimpse into the primal and chaotic world of the Fey known as the First World, giving her piercing insight when presented with misinformation, but making her susceptible to other kinds of deception. The character gains a +2 bonus to the Knowledge(planes) skill when making checks relating to the First World (and always treats this skill as a class skill) and a +2 bonus to Will saves against enchantment and illusion spells created by the Fey, but also suffer a -1 penalty to Will saves against enchantment/illusion effects from any other source.

The Brothers Grimm were German, so probably Swedish. :P

I'm cereal about this. buy an exotic saddle and attach it to your armor so that I may ride you through the battlefield, hideous abomination.

I mean what?

(XD I hope Arwyne is nicer than this in the actual campaign)

If anything, someone else would buy it. I mean, given her status as a caliban, you can't really blame her for not being friendly. If anything, she'd probably be just as scared of others as she is scared of herself, and as scared as everyone else is of her.

I have to say, as you've slowly lifted the curtain on just what you're planning, I'm becoming more and more intrigued by this campaign.

As you can probably tell from the picture, Arwyne has sort of resigned herself to being a loner. Due to being a Gnome, though, she doesn't really view anyone as 'scary,' just 'interesting.' I'm sure our characters will become great friends.

And THEN I can use you as a mount. >:3

Emmeline,I will ponder what to suggest for height/weight for your character.

Archpaladin, do you want to be royalty in the weak, yet good kingdom (Name to be decides,) or be perhaps a noble offspring of one of The Five that possess kingdoms? The Lady of Mirrors is a debauched and vain queen with delusions of grandeur. The Ice Witch is queen of the frozen North and has a heart as cold as her magic, yet values beauty and honesty. And the Heartless Queen is a Fey who, centuries ago, tore out her own heart after a betrayal and rules her kingdom with a brutal efficiency while keeping up a facade of courtly pageantry.Children of the first two would LIKELY be human, but any offspring of the Heartless Queen are part Fey (If you choose this, I have Feyboen races for you to select from!). Those descriptions are very brief, but I don't want to spoil much of the plot!

Certain areas have different naming conventions, buyt the most prevalent ones are Old English, Germanic, Gaelic, Irish, and, in the Heartless Queen's realm, sort of French'ish, but with a Fey twist to the names.

Posting on Gadgeteer cuz I don't want to spoil Arwyne about this.

Wouldn't a Feyborn Gnome be sorta redundant? 'cause that seems like a pretty interesting run-in with the Heartless Queen if Arwyne turns out to be her daughter. Just saying. :P

I'd imagine Emmeline just kind of wanders around the wilderness, since it'd be suicide to wander into society as she is.

I love free Story Feats. I always want to nab one, but the cost of a feat that could be going towards something else is always too great. No idea for a Tale Feat yet though.

Gadgeteer, I was posting for Archpaladin, due to him wanting to be a royal. :P

Well yeah, but... I was just tossing out ideas for interesting pre-amnesia backstory stuff for Arwyne.

Which of course means our characters may have run into each other at some point. Pre-campaign character friendship maybe?

[No idea, it really depends on how long she's been out. I mean, the whole experience has to be pretty frightening in and of itself, going from an 11-year old girl to a 14-15 year old (for lack of a better term) monster.

Now I'm just imagining a curious Arwyne hanging upside down from a branch and poking Emmie on the nose as she looks on, terrified.

Then trying to shoot an arrow at her and failing as Emmie smashes the bow in an outburst of fear.
This is all quite amusing to me, if you can't tell.

Gadgeteer, ah so it was a not-so-subtle hint that I failed to spot? It's almost 1:30 A.M. here and I only got about 5-6 hours of sleep yesterday! O_O

It's disgustingly adorable, oddly enough.

@RVT: I... really wasn't trying to hint anything...? I'm a night owl, so I have no idea how you feel.

@Emmie: Exactly which of your limbs are misshapen? and in what way?

As I'm reading through the First Folk racial paragon class, I have found that, with a little work, I can cover any role the group needs.

That being said, if chosen, Emmeline is the brawler, Eliah is a hunter(Inquisitor btw is perfect for that), Royce is our skirmisher and am I unsure what Arwyne brings, other than awesome.(Haven't read the Feywarden class ...yet)

I actually like her personality presented here, and personally would not mind if she kept it.

So, let me know what ya need me to be. I might even do a whole jack of all trades kinda concept, depending.

@Arwyne: The deformities she has are: Bones of Steel, Sharp Teeth, Toxic Blood, Giant, and Twisted Organs.

So she's Large-size, has razor-sharp teeth, her blood is colored oddly and toxic, her organs are all warped around and in odd locations, and her bones are partially metallic.

Edit: Emmie is also battlefield control with her grappling.

I am a spellcaster/disabler/archer. Also scout. Also I have a magical faerie lynx, or I will, and HE can be a brawler/archer also.

also, I DO tend to bring awesome to the party, thanks for noticing.

YESSSSSSS

@Aldrah: So... totally inedible then. Gotcha. No way to know where to gut, deadly, hard to butcher, and toxic. You are like the quad-fecta of inedible things.

EDIT: Tetrafecta?

Royce covers the rogue roll. He has trap finding and rogue-y skills. He's just a lot more dangerous in combat than your average rogue.

Well, the weak, yet good kingdom seems like a natural chase, but being the kid of one of the Five sounds tempting. The Lady of Mirrors would be the most likely choice in this instance, as I'm sort of going for a gilded Prince Charming type, dashing, handsome and arrogant, but more from naivete and a sheltered upbringing than nastiness of spirit. The idea is that journeying in the world (His two older brothers have gone on some quest and haven't returned, in true fairy tale style) shows him what life is like outside the castle walls, and he's appalled by what he finds, and after some soul-searching decides that he's going to make it a better place, even if it means challenging his royal mother.

I hope I can be of some small assistance as well.

Sure, an old man may not be much to look at or good in a fight, but he knows things.

He can help keep people in good shape and provide some support.

I love that class. Its so versatile and seems to be super fun. Really unsure what role I'll fill, might end up talking to RVT some for an assist/insight.

Don't be so quick to forget about the only Arcane spell caster applicant thus far (with the possible exceptions of Arwyne as well as Monkeygods Character).

Tale Feat/Theme:

The Hopeful: In a world where witches have the run of things, children get kidnapped right and left, entire families get killed for little reason, burning forests illuminate the night sky, and madmen treat the innocent as mere guinea pigs, it can be a little hard to keep your chin up. But don't worry, because I'm here for you. We don't have time to wallow in sadness, the world needs us. Now c'mon, get up. Let's try it again together.

Suggested Benefits:
Bonuses on will saves against fear effects. Alternatively, Good Hope as a SLA 1/day.

Suggested Drawbacks:
Penalty to Sense Motive. Or, more appropriately, a penalty to actions, checks, and saves when unable to assist a wounded/incapacitated ally. Further penalties if said ally dies.

If the feat is supposed to share a similar structure with story feats than (i.e. prerequisite, completion benefit, etc.) then the abilities may be modified to use the Tenacity and Greater Tenacity abilities from the Bodyguard Animal Companion. Completion requirement could be something akin to "stand down a Challenging CR appropriate foe alone to save an ally and succeed".

If I'm completely misunderstanding this altogether then let me know.

Any idea when the final party selection will be?

Shadow Lodge

Here is Vincent, Human Fighter living in a town oppressed by evil.

Spoiler:

Appearance: Vincent is of average height, he has blue eyes and black hair. His short hair is pushed back neatly. When not wearing armor he is often found wearing blacksmith attire (leather apron and the like). When not in either of those attires, he can be seen in a dark colored shirt, dark blue pants and leather coat if the weather creates a need, all well taken care of if a bit plain. On first glace, he seems very serious and perhaps a bit distracted unless he is working at the time. His face and hands bear the small scars, burns, and callouses common to those who work around sharp metal and heat. If someone could look past his scars, he is of average attractiveness maybe even slightly above average. He stands with a good posture and walks with a purpose.

Personality: Vincent is ambitious, impatient, and lighthearted when he allows himself the time to relax. He wants to make a name for him but he worries that it could be hard for someone of his station to be anymore than his father. He lacks tact and often makes ill-advised jokes but he bears no ill-will to those he offends.

Background: Vincent grew up in his father's smithy because his mother passed at a young age. His father's shop had several workers other than his father who was the head smith. The shop made and repaired a variety of metal items but Vincent always preferred to work on armor and weapons, so much that his father stopped asking him to work on other items because he would rush on mundane items and do shoddy work. Vincent started learning to fight as a way to improve the armor and weapons. He is frustrated with the status quo and would like nothing more than provide the arms to take down those that oppress his town and greater region.

I'll get the crunch up in a bit.

To better fit with her deity and due to the overflow of similar ideas I made Maena an Oracle instead of a Hunter.

If shoehorning her into a story archetype think of her like the blind seer, except she's a lot younger than most characters fulfilling that role.

She herself is on the way, working on her background and coming up with a suitable trait.

My character's pet is the same size as you and feline. Both don't make good mounts.

Actually, Goodfellow spellcasting doesn't count as arcane or divine. 'cause we're just that special. :P

it's okay, I can use Emmie as a mount instead.

Some changes that came up in the thread for the Goodfellow that I think fit well:

Quote:

All (su), (sp) and (ex) abilities (inclusing elision) are limited to non-metal light and medium armor.

Long step now works like Dimension door (no actions after teleport), but is still a move action to activate, so you can shoot + teleport, for instance.

Seeming now only allows you change into Tiny animal (beast shape II) or humanoid of the same size as your own size (alter self). It's still a move action to activate.

Wings work like alchemist wings, but you need to spend a greentouch use to summon them. Then you can use them for non-consecutive minutes equal to character level during the day. Usable once per day, plus an additional time per day at 15th level.

What is the position of Elves in your setting? I'm not intending to play one but I am looking at Racial Heritage - Elf to get into the Ancient Lorekeeper archetype.

If they are a thing of the past that would be an absolutely phenomenal fit and otherwise I'll have to think of something else.

I can't wait to find out what the tale feats will be like.

Random question: Can I give my Faerie Beast Martial Weapon Proficiency(Longbow) at the cost of a feat? I plan to give him the Arms, Mount, and Climb evolutions. Because centaur-kitties and Gnomes killing things from the trees is an awesome image in my head.

Doomed Hero, Sunday at noon!

Cuan, Elves are an ancient, dwindling race. They are very melancholy because of their race's slow decline and many of them have turned to empty debauchery to fill the void in their hearts. A few have dedicated them to preserving their history and living up to their virtuous ancestry, but these are few and far between. Elves, in this setting, have no age cap, but also do not mentally mature in normal ways, so Elves 10,000 years old may be no more intelligent or wise than a human who just hit Venerable Age.

Arwyne, the profeciency-for-feat substitute is acceptable.
