About Doctor Rogers

Frozen Springs:
I was once a happy man. I lived way up north, in a small village called Frozen Springs.

Frozen Springs was a beautiful town built near a hot spring in a place that was winter all year round.

My wife, Samantha, and I met when I first became a doctor and traveled to my new home. She was one of the applicants to be my nurse. She didn't quite get the job, which is a great thing: she was the best teacher the town had.

Our marriage was a big event with even people from nearby villages coming to enjoy the party.

After a couple of years, we had our first daughter, Annabelle. She was a sweet thing. She was absolutely sure she was some kind of royalty and got frustrated when others wouldn't listen.

A few years later, my wife and I had another daughter. Little Ellie... she was such a sweetheart. We all lived in a nice big, beautiful house. I wish I had spent more time there.

I was a doctor then, with my own practice. It was the only one for miles. I was rich, successful. I was happy.


The Family Lost:
I don't know why we were targeted, of all the possible places she could have chosen. Ours was a small town with very few people. Maybe it was just too easy.

The Ice Witch came. Some of the men stood paralyzed in fear. Others ran. I'm ashamed to say that I myself hid in my office as her minions swept over the town like a sudden blizzard.

Those that weren't frozen solid or killed outside their homes awoke hours later to find all of our daughters and wives missing. It was such a blow that I broke down, unable to think of what to do.

Then the monsters came, tearing through our houses like an avalanche, killing almost everyone left. I ran and didn't stop running until I was miles away. There was nothing left of the town called Frozen Springs.

I was lucky to survive. At the time, though, I felt I would've be luckier to have died.


To Find Meaning:
I stumbled along like a dead man, eventually crawling into a cave to escape the snow outside. There I met an adventurer who had also been wronged by the witches.

He shared with me his story. I learned about different monsters and stories from the villages he had visited. He showed me a fascinating book he carried and told me of vast libraries that I could seek out.

After the storm, the adventurer went to meet his fate. Whether that was his end or just his beginning, I do not know. For me, it was another chance.

I studied hard, learning anything that I could that might help those fighting the Witches and their minions.

I guess that's how I ended up here.
