Royce, where you are from is your decision. I deliberately left that vague so you would have pretty much free reign in designing your background, so long as it made sense.
As for where we begin, I was waiting on a consensus on which of the five areas you would all start in. It is up to you all, because the first Tale (What I call the chapters,) is very modular and I want the PCs to have something that fits in with their own desires. As soon as I see a consensus is reached, we will begin!
As a personal favor, those of you that are religiously inclined, can you all pray for TSP's friend? He found out today she's got a bad set of neurological disorders after they did an MRI on her. You don't have to reply on here, just doing it is enough.

I want to go against the Heartless Queen. There are too many combat-heavy games on these boards and I want to try something different.
Did you see those CRs? We'll be murdered. The Heartless Queen is someone we work towards, not tackle right off the bat.
With those type of creatures the chances of even an intrigued based campaign to succeed are almost nil as they are bound to have magical senses or might simply kill first and ask questions later.
I'd say we go after the Blood Maiden. We could warm up, maybe get some intel on the Hertless Queen as the witches are bound to know more about the others, and see where we go from there. I do not fancy being squished by an Ancient Green Great Wyrm or some such on my first foray.
I have a 6 Str. That giant girl is gonna need to be carrying stuff for me :P
Also, personality wise, no I will not be a prick. At least that's not how I'm intending to play Ahsylreth. He'll probably be a bit unhinged, likely a bit twisted, and dark. Not evil though, unless he's pushed that way.

It sounds like Schattenwald will be the best place for Ahsylreth and Royce. Xerxes could have saved me in one of the forests and I could have met Maena (or even have tried to treat her affliction)in one of the smaller villages in the area.

I'm back! I was on a spur-of-the-moment fully vacation and forgot my tablet, so sorry for the holdup for you all.
Our friend has brain lesions, which has led to a slew of neurological disorders. She was suicidal about a few days ago, but TSP managed to talk her out of it and cheer her up after a few hours. That man's about like a saint sometimes!

Everyone will begin in a village called Stiftung on the outskirts of the Schattenwald. From there, I will guide everyone with suggestions but in the end, everyone's path is chosen by the group as a whole. I'm not a railroad-y type of GM.
I will wait until tomorrow on Marienne, but we will begin regardless of whether she rejoins or not.
I have a brain lesion too, in the part of my brain that controls movement. I can tell that she feels a lack of control and is probably really scared.
I'm posting on behalf of RVT. She's going through some seriously awful stuff right now and wanted me to let you know she won't be posting tonight. She didn't say so, but I'm guessing she'll be AWOL for anywhere from a couple days to a week. Anyway, keep her in your thoughts/prayers, and she'll be back when she can.
Hey guys and gals, TSP asked Whack-A-Rogue to post. TSP is utterly distraught right now, as our friend tried to commit suicide earlier tonight, so he definitely won't be posting tonight in his campaigns. I, however, will post tomorrow unless I receive a negative update on her condition. It's not that I don't care about our friend, but I know that it's not healthy to dwell on such things so much. So don't worry, unless there's an emergency or something else happens, I will post sometime tomorrow.
All of you embroiled in this tragedy have my utmost sympathy. I would not trade places with you for the world.
I certainly do not want to add to RVT's stress during such a horrible ordeal. I will hang out until RVT makes it back and will keep an eye on this thread in the meantime.

Hey guys! The situation with Katie has been somewhat tenuous lately. We've been attempting to keeping her happy while the docs get the right dose of medication for her. That's been a full-time thing the past few weeks. She's relatively stable now though, so all is well. Those of you in TSP's campaigns, he had a minor breakdown during the whole process, but he will probably be back posting in a few days. I didn't know him and her had a thing until that happened. Anyway, I presume everyone is still up for the campaigns? I certainly hope so, because I am! Let's get a head count in my campaigns!
