Mittean Would it be ok to drop Xander's wisdom to 8 and boost int to 12? I normally hate dumping, but I think it'd suit his personality and I wouldn't mind being able to put a point into knowledge nobility. If not I'll probably go ahead and move the point from stealth to there.

Everyone who lives in Sandpoint...which I believe is everyone counting the vacation homes...where are your homes located? Do a few of you live together as flat-mates? Are you in an apartment, a house? Second story, basement, ground floor? Outside of town?

Hez on your cantrips, roll 3d4 + your IntMod. That is the number you start with.

3d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2, 4) + 4 = 13 I presume that's the number I start with in my spellbook. I'll take a look at the lists and make the necessary edits.

Hezekiah's house is a two-room stand-alone on Tower Street, across the street from Brodert's house and next door to Gorvi's shack.

Cost of Living is in the "Gamemastering" Chapter of the Core Rulebook on p. 405. It's also on the "Gamemastering" page of the PRD, about halfway down. Rather than list all of the stuff I might have in a house that I've lived in for a few years, I pay 10 gp a month and can find mundane items that cost 1 gp or less with a 1d10 minute search.

As far as my own preferences: I'll mirror Alexander's words. I like story, action, and PC interaction.

Hezekiah wants to make a significant discovery on Thassilon and the Runelords. Right now, he hopes to make a significant discovery regarding the Old Light. A part of him is afraid of becoming like Brodert: an esoteric sage who never goes anywhere.

Go ahead and do it, Xander.

I like that cost of living thing, that's cool Hez.

Awesome job on the goals, both of you. Just waiting on Satinder, who's out at a rehearsal for a concert he's in right now, and Toban.

I just got off the phone with my mate in Colorado, who will be joining us as Jarek Prath. Look's like a crazy cool concept. I'll be building it with him today, and getting it up on here.

Mittean: Awesome thanks!
Nice, 5 man party...Bards best friend! lol

I agree, Xander.

Hez, on a side note, one of my wife's and my best friends is an adorably tiny girl from Belarus. So we have spent more and more time being immersed in Russian culture. (Just watched чорная маланка, as a matter of fact. As a producer, one of my favorite director/ producer's is Тимур Бекмамбетов.)

Male Human Barbarian(Titan Mauler) 1

Sorry about my absence been on the couch watching movies all day lol.

All the changes should be made to my profile. And I added a little to my background to tie me to the Kaijitsu family.

As far as character aspirations...I'm pretty much fare game for anything but wouldn't mind getting a romance started up I even have a target in mind, though it wouldn't work once we leave Sandpoint...

XanderI'm good with what ever tie in you have but unfortunately there is no PM system on this site...they really really need to implement one though. Go ahead and email me at finalfantasyfan12632@gmail.com if you want.

Totally fine, Toban. Thanks.

I shared our group on the RotRL group thread here. Give it a read. :) I put summaries of everyone and their relationships. Make sure I did them correct, lol. :)

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Thassilonian Specialist - Transmuter/Greed) 1

Most of the things that can be linked are now linked. Spells are linked in the spellbook, as I anticipate the memorized spells changing somewhat frequently.

Thanks for the links, Hez.

If anyone has "added" to their story on the discussion page, make sure to put it into your character description, so it's locked, not floating on a page. :) Thanks!

Male Human

Alright, here's the updated background and description:

background:
Satinder was raised by his mother, Mathilda, in Magnimar. According to his mother, his father was a member of the Council of Ushers, though she refused to name him and she said he had refused to acknowledge Satinder at his birth. When Satinder came of age, his mother apprenticed him to the Magnimar Watch, where his knack for chemicals and hunger for knowledge landed him in training for investigative work, rather than as a guardsman. With Satinder supporting himself, Mathilda returned to her hometown of Sandpoint to serve as a preistess of Desna under Father Tobyn. Not long after she left, Satinder recieved a missive from Belor Hemlock: The Sandpoint Chapel had burned down, and his mother was one of the victims of the tragedy.
Grief-stricken, Satinder buried himself in his studies. Shortly after finishing his training in forensic science, he became involved with a highly sensational case: Alexander Edwin Lacroix, a popular stage actor, came under charges for allegedly raping the Lord-Mayor's daughter. Satinder was assigned to the case and managed to find evidence that proved the dalliance to have been of a consensual nature. Shortly thereafter he was removed from duty in Magnimar and reassigned to the town of Sandpoint.

He suspected ever since that he was not meant to solve that case, and his reassignment was punishment for Alexander escaping the Lord-Mayor's machinations. Infuriated by the lack of available use for his skills, Satinder rapidly turned to unhealthy pursuits and before long found himself entangled in the web of the Sczarni. Toban Ragemont, a local part-time guardsman and bouncer at the Pixie's Kitten, rescued him during a raid on a Sczarni and helped to get him back to a stable state, emotionally and physically. During his recovery, Satinder was also befriended by Hezekiah Aumvar, a student of Thassilonian history, who he regards as one of the few people in Sandpoint who is his intellectual equal. He was also pleased to find that Xander, the theatrical thespian, held a vacation home in Sandpoint. An odd group of friends, but Satinder was glad to have them.

Recently, Xander announced his intention to leave his acting career and set off on an adventure, and that he would perform one last time in Magnimar before leaving (though he would, of course, attend the Swallowtail Festival before leaving). The four took the trip to Magnimar together as one last hurrah before their friend took his leave. What a dull place Sandpoint will be without Alexander Lacroix . . .

description:
Satinder is tall and thin, with dark hair and dark eyes. His face is harsh and angular, just like his demeanor, though his glasses and bowler hat keep him from seeming too intimidating. He bears a tattoo of an ornate skull above the words "Barim Quetamin" (Elvish for "The dead speak to me.") on his upper left arm, which he received upon finishing his training as a forensic scientist. While intelligent and well-read, his studies have left him without a good understanding of people. He often seems timid and uncertain around others, speaking softly and without much humor. His time spent studying forensic science with the Magnimar Watch only helped to reaffirm the cynical nature that began developing with the perceived abandonment by his parents. He respects the various clergies (having seen great kindnesses performed in the names of this or that deity), but has no use for religion himself. He enjoys the company of his friends, though their frequent visits to the Pixie's Kitten (the easiest place for them all to meet on the spur of the moment) often leave him flustered and uncomfortable, much to the amusement of his compatriots and the Kitten's employees.

Agreeable?

Love it. :)

I would like everyone to choose a sin for their character. What is their struggle? If possible, I'd like them to be different sins, but it is okay if one or two are the same sin. List it here.

After you have listed it, I have listed some abilities in the campaign section under each sin. Choose one of the two options. I'd love it if you chose the sin off character, rather than off power possibilities, but obviously I've no way of enforcing this.

:) Let me know what you think about those.

Also, we got a good portion of Jarek made today. So far, this is what I've got (subject to change).

Jarek is a male human ninja, who will be taking levels of gunslinger. (I know, right?) He is a bit of a spy/assassin, near as I can tell. I believe he will be working for the Magnimar government, possibly against the mighty Cheliax, unsure at the moment. He is not a minor noble with rich parents...although I did offer it, lol.

Anyway, tomorrow I am finishing up my tests on the mapping program, and letting you guys tighten up any story/character/character sheets and do any last minute "shopping". I know it's New Years (for most cultures) this weekend...would everyone like to start on the first? Or on the 31st?

Satinder, is this pretty close to your character?

Lust - Seducer's Eyes
I can see Xander using this in performances big time lol.
Nice bonus!

Thanks. been working on this for two days now...think I've got the feel and balance right.

Go ahead and list that under special abilities. :)

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Thassilonian Specialist - Transmuter/Greed) 1

Hezekiah can't hardly help it,can he? Greed: while he's not the typical Monty haul adventure, he's definitely the sort for whom it was said "He knows the price of everything and the value of nothing." A leftover from his merchant family. He defines his level of success by material comfort and, subconsciously, judges other folks to some degree by that factor as well.

Since he's still a good person at heart, he's not malevolent about it. He's just never known any other way to be.

I'll go with the Certain Grip ability. It's always hard to pry thing from the young man's hands.

Male Human Barbarian(Titan Mauler) 1

I think I'm going to take The pride sin and the delusional pride ability.

Male Human

As far as he can tell, all of Satinder's friends have it better than he does. Not only are they all from wealthy families, but they all know who their fathers are. And they have such an easy way with people. If only he could be more like them.

Envy. Disguise Person. Heck yes.

Toban and Satinder, make sure to add the ability and sin to your Special abilities section. Thanks.

So, everyone's thoughts on starting? Saturday or Sunday?

BTW, I had a late night foray last night, and figured out my fog of war, my lighting, adding characters and capturing and posting the picture (successfully) here.

Satinder

Mittean Sunday would be better for me. I have dinner plans Saturday night for a birthday and of course its New Years Eve.

I hear ya. Satinder and I will likely be chasing my brother-in-law around in the snow in our underpants, stealing tiki torches from the neighbors. TMI? lol.

Alright, so I'll set our kick-off for Sunday morning.

If someone wants to take a shot at writing a journal entry about the final "adventure" in Magnimar, I'd love it, and I'll cook up some gooey goodness for ya.

Male Human

Satinder would love to discover his actual parentage someday. Also, while he does believe in the power of the law, he harbors vengeful thoughts towards the Lord-Mayor of Magnimar, and would relish (probably more than is healthy) removing the corruption that allowed the Lord-Mayor to circumvent the system and reassign him to Sandpoint.

Male Human Barbarian(Titan Mauler) 1

Hey guys

Just thought I would give you a heads up. I'm going to be with out net at the house for the next 6 months. I'm going to try my best to keep up with posting but I can't guarantee I'll get a post in every day.

That sucks. Hmmm...alright, maybe we can work something, or design a side story for you to have effect on the party. Let's take it for a week or two and see how it affects flow. When does this begin?

at the library as we speak lol

Ladies...the dance has begun. :)

Good stuff so far, guys. :)

Male Human Barbarian(Titan Mauler) 1

Hey sorry I didn't get a post in yesterday...the library was closed for the holidays so I was with out access. I will post as soon as I get done writing this.

You are totally fine, Toban. Good luck on the job searches as well!

Male Human Ninja 1

Hi all. Read all of eAch of your posts. I'm working from my ps3 so if my typing and responses are short and atrocious I apologize up front. Getting a PC by mid march... wish i could time travel.
Mittean, thank you so much for allowing me in and helping me prep.
Guys, I'm 33. Have a gf. 2 cats. Part time dog. And work normally about 60 hour weeks in the meticulous employment of mind tricks toward encouraging botanical world peace.
From here, My character certainly fits the lone stranger archetype among you. Nobles are not his kin per se. The Forensic guy fits well. I will continue working with DM privately and allow him to share what makes sense of my character after we conclude identifying his party ties.
Loveyour chars! looks like a fantastic party and I expect the campaign will be a blast!

Thanks Jarek!

The biggest thing we've noticed with his posting on the three-station is it won't let him have more than one HTML coding embedded in it per post. i.e. His post would look like "DM Mittean is a fine fellow, but he [i]reeks[ /i] of wine."

His second code invariably seems to not catch, and so on. So he may make several consecutive posts, rather than one larger one.

The second thing is the three-station limits his message length. In most posts I don't think it'll be an issue, but he actually ended up erasing half his character last night, screeching like some kind of owl on crack, and chasing his poor cats around for an hour afterwords out of pure frustration.

Or so I'm led to believe. :)

Anyway, welcome, Mike/ Jarek!

Male Human Ninja 1

My first journal entry.

Great job, Jarek! 65 XP awarded to you.

Toban where is your swim +1 coming from? I'm not sure how you calculated that. And your Perception +1? Same with your Survival score? What is the calculation?

Everyone on your skill lists, if you list skills that are not trained in, please bold the ones you are trained in.

Also everyone please check your unarmed strike bonuses, and subtract four for being untrained, and list them as non-lethal damage.

Xander you have four languages, when I think you should have three. Did I miscount? And where are your flaws listed?

I can't tell what your trained skills are...or how perform was calculated. Also unarmed strike, Xander.

Satinder your unarmed strike as well, lol. And list your favored class, lol, and the bonus. Also, I think you are one trained skill too many...

You also have the alchemist racial trait, which replaces your SP per level...so -1 skill point, I think.

Where is your education feat found?

Ok I will change that stuff.

Is it a house rule for unarmed strike? Not a huge deal, but I was under the impression that every character was proficient with an unarmed strike.
Also, I added Chelaxian as a bonus language, but I can change that. I think I misunderstood, so I will just remove Draconic.

Male Human

Actually, I think Xander is right. Having Improved Unarmed Strike removes the AoO from unarmed strikes, but we don't take a non-proficiency penalty if we don't have it. It's not an exotic weapon, it just provokes an attack of opportunity.

I have 10 skills: 4 from alchemist, 4 from Int, 1 from human, and 1 from my favored class bonus. Also, my favored class is alchemist, which is now updated.

Alchemist is a class ability, not a racial trait. It in no way affects my available skill points.

First paragraph on page 141 (continued from 140) of the core rulebook it states:
"All characters are proficient with unarmed strikes and any natural weapons possessed by their race. A character who uses a weapon with which he is not proficient takes a –4 penalty on attack rolls."

This however assumes you are not house ruling otherwise. Which I would be fine with. Just trying to clarify. Though I will say, it would make starting drunken brawls less appealing! ;)

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Lol, I totally botched that one. You are all correct, I am going to go dunk my head...stupid wretched cleanse I'm going through is worth than absinthe...

Your unarmed strikes are all correct. :) Satinder, you are correct on the class skill, I just assumed it was the racial one when I saw the option, my bad.

Xander, was there something we discussed that made you feel you had the language? I'll consider it, if I did.

and now I am fully confused on your skills...assuming you bolded the trained skills, you have 20...

Lets just list things you have ranks in. If you it is not a class skill, but have put ranks in it, don't bold it, and do label that it is a cross-class skill. (This is for everyone). :)

Male Human Ninja 1

Mittean, You left out a LOT on my character sheet. Will you please copy and paste in from what I emailed you? Specific omissions I'll need to play from home are the different modes and stats for them pertaining to speed, AC, encumbrance... I'll let you know if I see any more missing I need.

And unarmed strike... been awhile since I gamed.... wow...

Male Human Ninja 1

Satinder and DM:
Has Mittean shared info about my character thats pertinent to you yet?

mittean wrote:

The RotRL players guide says that humans or particular descent gain Varisian, Shoanti, or Chelaxian as a bonus langauge. I asked if it was ok for Chelaxian, but it isn't a huge deal. I can just remove Draconic, which I originally had when developing a character because I was considering making some sort of dragon disciple but then decided to go for the bard.

Oh I thought you wanted us to Bold class skills, I totally misread! Sorry lol.

Male Human Ninja 1

Well... then I gotta take Cheliaxan.

Male Human Ninja 1

gonna test ps3 text html...

Test:
OK does this work ?
I like infidels!
Love infidel check 1d100 + 69 ⇒ (17) + 69 = 86

Did it work?
I dance for joy!

Okay, Xander and Jarek both get Chelaxian. Satinder, I don't believe you ever specified your human origin. Toban appears to be Varisian, perfect...and so does Hez.

Male Human Ninja 1

About all I know of Golarion: Golarion

Yay! It works!

Sooo Jarek Training Picture

I think I have all my skills fixed but I'm not sure...I should get 4(class)+1(favored class)+1(human) skill points/level I think.

At a glance the skills look good, Toban.
