Dr Samuel Ballard |
I might invest in a masterwork shortbow and a potion or two but I think that's about it at this stage.
Yverstrix Halfbloodsson |
Ugh. Quite sure I posted on Saturday. Double move, following the others.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I am going to be taking some time off from July 8-20. During this time, I will likely not have much access or time at a computer, so you can continue to roleplay, but I will not be driving the game forward much until I am back.
Dr Samuel Ballard |
I moved forward toward the burning buildings at the centre of the map and my token should reflect that. I got the impression that we were under a lot of time pressure here so thought we should press on.
But if everyone is falling back toward the barricade, Sam wouldn't be the point man! :)
Shivarra |
I reckon we send one guy to the barricade (they'll catch up with double moves next time we run into an obstruction of some sort) along with the other woman, and the rest move forward. The real question is whether we try our luck at L5->L13, potentially bypassing the gate (or getting stuck), or grind our way L6 to L10.
Yverstrix Halfbloodsson |
Not having any healing ability, Yverstrix would be riding forward -- and his swift movement should let him pull ahead into the point role Sam doesn't want.
And he's not terribly subtle -- he'd probably look at heading right down the middle..
Yverstrix Halfbloodsson |
Going to be out of contact for a week and then spotty for another week. Apologies for the late notice, but C-section is tomorrow.
Grod the Cunning |
The longer I play this character, the more I'm realizing how powerful a good animal companion is. Who needs Rage when you've got a Rhino (even when she misses comedically, apparently)? Of course, if I do eventually go Mammoth Rider that will only become even more true.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Shivarra - it looks like you can take that route, no problem.
Grod - While I haven't read the books ahead, I managed to jump into playing in a game that is on level 13, and I expect from what I have seen, riding a rhino or mammoth is likely to be very handy!
GM Fuzzfoot |
That depends on a few things: did they lock it? Are they holding it shut? Or are they waiting to attack whoever opens it?
Dr Samuel Ballard |
Just letting you know I will be away for a couple of days starting tomorrow evening. Unlikely to post then until Sunday. Thanks!
Shivarra |
Mortoth, why T_T
Also, that's what I get for not throwing Sam under the bus XD I wonder if it counts as shift towards good for doing it or towards evil for resolving not to do it ever again.
That being said, while I rather hope to regain ability to act next turn or at least get stabilized, please make sure not to provoke any AoOs, as it'll be entirely counterproductive.
Dr Samuel Ballard |
Hey guys I'm back and catching up.
Shivarra I'm sorry that happened to you. Hopefully we can mop up the last of these orcs and get you patched up.
GM Fuzzfoot |
So I have converted the loot sheet to something better suited, I think, for keeping party treasure straight (and less about the fair divvy approach I was trying before). In part, this was so I could better track and audit vs the module, but also I see you all are far less about personal gain and pretty cohesive as a group.
It also gave me a chance to audit it, and I found a fair amount of things I had failed to note.
So, the new one works like this: First column is the item, second is who claims/carries it (you can add to your sheet as well, or not, as you like), third is Value (if known).
The red column denotes what you sold it for. These get added up to the Party Sold entry (H2). H1 is the party cash on hand (not counting any personal coin you have). H3 totals the party expenditures, or any cash transferred from party coffers to individuals. You can see the distributions made from the first time around. (Malthu took less cash because he kept the sword, but you all can decide moving forward if you care that much.)
The GM Note is for me, but if you are curious, the first number is the Post it was detailed, the second is the page on the thread. Third is the Book (we are still in book 1), and last is the page#. This makes it easier for me to go back and look something up if needed.
Column F is calculated to X out anything sold or gone. Please don't touch it - I just use it for sorting.
I also looked over sheets, and have tried to adjust coin and notes appropriately. I have also unsold things I think you might still find valuable. (As currently sorted, you have to scroll down to row 975 or so to see the sold items.)
Just some notes for each of you to clarify what I see. No one needs take any action, just making sure we are on the same page.
It appears to me as though you have only original gear on your sheet, and you have claimed a crossbow and some bolts. No cash, and nothing of real value.
Looks to me like you have all original equipment, took 393.8 gold from loot, and kept a thieves tools.
I also have you on the list with a masterwork hand crossbow, 10 bolts, 10 silver bolts, 10 cold iron bolts, potion of darkvision and a scroll of barkskin. All is fine - you can add these to your sheet or not.
There is also a masterwork chain shirt unclaimed that you might like.
As far as I can tell, you have all original equipment plus you have the scroll of ghost bane dirge and a masterwork longsword.
I also see you have a morningstar, and thought I would point out that you have found an unclaimed one, if you want to claim it. If you sell back your old one, since it was original, just sell for 1/2 price and add to your own coins.
It appears to me as though you have only original gear on your sheet.
I also have you listed as holding Brinya's Love, although I think you were not planning to do so. There are a few potions and scrolls that might be handy that are unclaimed.
It appears to me as though you have original gear on your sheet, took 398.8 g from part treasure, a potion of vanish and hold the wand of CLW with 5 charges left.
It was also suggested that you hold the pearl of power, but I don't see that you accepted it.
It appears to me as though you have only original gear on your sheet. You haven't taken or claimed any party loot.
Dr Samuel Ballard |
Perhaps after this combat we can have a quick review of the gear we have and what is unclaimed. That masterwork chainshirt must be of use to someone for example.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Correct, Malthu. In fact, at any time you can tell me just to sell off anything and we will convert it to cash. I haven't done it yet because I figured some of you might want to look it over first. Some of the more common stuff already was sold, though.
Mortoth Spellborn |
I thought the chainshirt had been claimed, but if it's not been, then Mortoth would definitely like it. Of course, I'm probably not going to change armors in the middle of a fight...
Yverstrix Halfbloodsson |
I believe that is correct, yes.
Grod the Cunning |
Hey guys, good news/bad news time. I recently joined the Army, and will be leaving for basic training in two weeks. From 09/19, I won't have internet for, at a minimum, 10 weeks (after Basic, I got to training in my specific job, which is another 16 weeks. I think I'll have internet access at that time, but I'm not 100% certain). While I'd be happy to just go on hiatus for a while and then pop back up later, if you'd rather drop me and find a replacement, I fully understand.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Hi Grod - I guess we are playing in the Iron Gods campaign together since I already read this not, but my response is the same. Hiatus is fine.
We have a big group, and we could be down to four before I would start looking for replacements, so having Grod disappear for a while will be just fine. If they level before you return (and they will - maybe before the 19th even), will let you bring Grod up to speed when you're ready.
GM Fuzzfoot |
I am going to be travelling the next few days, so I don't expect to post again until Sunday. Too much going on here to try and wing it by phone!
Mortoth Spellborn |
Sorry, getting near-murdered by a sinus infection this week. Will catch up tomorrow. Thanks for not letting me die!
Shivarra |
Is it possible to take 10 on stealth? I reckon the DC isn't high if it's just peeking around the corner in all this mess, and we probably want to get a clue what's going on before barging in. I got +5, is there anyone better?
GM Fuzzfoot |
I believe this is valid. Since they are not currently aware of you, Take 10 isn't about risk, but about average skill use, so as long as you aren't in combat, I think it works.
Now, whether or not that is good enough.... :)
Yverstrix Halfbloodsson |
No better here. Yver's not so much about the sneaking subtlety.
Malthu the Redeemed |
We are a bunch of lumbering half orcs. I think you might be the best of us!

Shivarra |
In game terms, if you want to cast a spell targeting them, then we move to Initiative. Since I have already given you the surprise action, you could hex them first and might even start casting before they get to act, but since Sleep is a full round casting, then they will get to act.
No chance of casting undetected? Somatic part is not an issue since I got cover, but how loud does vocal have to be?
Malthu the Redeemed |
Technically I'm not sure hexes have verbal or somatic components. But once it triggers I think the recipient of the spell gets a feeling like something has happened, even if they don't know what or from where. So maybe the question becomes whether they can beat Shivarra's stealth with their perception?

Hexes don't as far as I can see, I was speaking about Sleep in the last post. But yes, that was my impression about hexes as well, hence the earlier question about inflicting them subtly.
GM Fuzzfoot |
Yep, I have been trying to find info on sleep, and the general consensus seems to be no stealth spellcasting unless you have invested in the feats necessary to do it.
Shisumo |
Hey guys. I apologize for the lengthy absence. I've been dealing with some pretty serious health issues recently, and they've kept me away from a lot of things, but in particular I have had little time for the forums. I'm getting treatment now, but it's likely to be a long time before I'm back to where I should be. I am sorry for being gone with such little notice, and it's been a blast to play with all of you.
GM Fuzzfoot |
No worries - get better! I hope your feeling well soon.
Malthu the Redeemed |
So sorry to hear that! I hope you'll have a swift and full recovery. Thank you for letting us know.

Did you want those of us who are waiting to post our next round, GM?
