About Yverstrix HalfbloodssonMale Half-Orc (Ulfen) Barbarian (Hateful Rager) 4
History:
Yverstix was raised in the Pinkskin section of the city of Urglin, the son of a half-orc oracle named Trisgrak Halfblood. His mother was originally from Wyvernsting, in the North of Belkzen, but was cast out of her clan when her curse began to manifest, marking her as doubly tainted, beyond being a weak-blooded female. She wandered for a time, slowly building a reputation as both witch and warrior as both her magical and martial prowess grew. Eventually, she joined the warband of a rising would-be Warlord, an Ogrekin named Grakk Onetusk, likely selected as much for her comeliness as her skill with the greataxe and magic. Onetusk's band found increasing success with their raids, eventually gaining the wealth and prestige to take a place amongst Urglin's Warlords. Once in place, Grakk began to worry about political power as well as war, needing new tactics and weapons with which to fight his foes. Grakk hated these petty concerns, and dedicated his time to raiding caravans for more wealth, leaving the more clever and manipulative oracle behind to rule in his stead. It was during one of these raids that Trisgrak met an outcast Ulfen Skald named Tóríen. He had once been a raider on a longship, but he allowed himself to be cast out from his clan over a matter of honour, and was now working as a mercenary. Grakk returned to find "his woman" pregnant, carrying another man's child and, in his rage, killed the Ulfen who would steal his "possession". Trisgrak, in her grief and rage, beat down Grakk before his warriors, destroying his reputation and position of strength, finally drawing upon her magic to lay a curse upon the battered and broken orc, and moving to the Pinkskin section to raise her son amongst other humans, and namd him Yverstix, after a grandfather that he would never know. Yverstix was a wilful child who, raised on romanticized tales of the Ulfen, spent as much time seeking out Ulfen and Kellid mercenaries and outcasts in Urglin as he could... ignoring the other types of schooling that his mother tried to arrange. During these little excursions, he made his two best childhood friends, an Ulfen boy, Kriger Olafsson, and a fierce Kellid tomboy named Annik. Yver's childhood was mostly pleasant, his mother selling potions and other magical trinkets in the marketplace... and the boy grew... and grew... a mix of Ulfen height and Orcish muscle making him a near-giant. During this time of vast change, his feelings for Annik also shifted as he noticed the newfound curves of her frame. Unfortunately for Yverstix, however, Annik seemed to have feelings for Kriger instead. Not wanting to come between his friends, but also not wanting to see it every day, Yver accepted his mother's offer to send him to learn from one of her trade partners, a winter witch named Helgrud, in order to learn the ways of the Ulfen. He said his goodbyes and joined a caravan that one of his mother's former bandmates organized, signing on as a guard. He befriended Rolgar, a dwarven merchant, storyteller, and a fellow follower of Torag who was part of the caravan, happy to hear all of the elder dwarf's tales of the old ways, Sky Fortresses, epic battles against storied giants, and even tales of lone heroes facing down dragons. While he was somewhat homesick, the company of his new friend made the journey much more pleasant. However, what Yver (and his mother Trisgark) did not know is that the caravan guard leader, Vulg, still held his old loyalties to Grakk. On the second week of the journey, Vulg asked the boy to join him scouting as he'd seen signs of raiders... and once safely out of sight of the caravan, up on a cliff that served as a vantage point, he struck down the boy from behind. With Yver down and bleeding, Vulg sneered at his weak, human blood, and then revealed that not only he about to die, but that he'd been utterly destroyed, and turned into a weapon to be used against his mother. Grakk had asked Vulg to kill Yver's "little girlfriend" the night before they left and to plant evidence that Yver had done it in a violent, jealous rage. The shock of the news, the anger at the death of the young woman he'd grown to love, the worry about his mother's honour and station... somehow all of these things snapped within him, and a true berserker rage overtook him, giving him the strength to overcome his wound and kill the raid's leader. Yver raced back to the caravan, desperate to claim his items and race back to Urglin, but when he told Rolgar why he was leaving, the old dwarf stopped him, telling him that like as not he'd just be racing back to a headman's axe. The dwarf added that the boy couldn't very well go forward either, as it was all but assured that Kriger, at the very least, would come looking for him if he headed to Hellirinn with the caravan, as planned. Faced with no way forward and no way back, Rolgar offered to hide the boy instead, pulling out of the caravan and taking him back to his home in Janderhoff -- and to send a messenger to his mother in Urglin to warn her of Grakk's plan.
Finally, after five long years, he began to hear rumours that Grakk was nearby -- that he'd been holed up in Kragnaroth the whole time -- and now he'd been seen recruiting and dealing near Trunau. Yver was on the trail within 3 days.... .

Favored Enemy (Ex) Humanoid: Orc
While raging, the hateful rager makes every effort to fight a favored enemy rather than other opponents. If aware of the presence of a favored enemy, the hateful rager must make a DC 20 Will save each round to attack another creature; failure means the barbarian must attack the favored enemy or move closer to that enemy. She may freely attack creatures preventing her from reaching that favored enemy (regardless of whether they are actively trying to prevent her attacks or merely in the way). She can avoid harmful obstacles normally in her attempts to reach the target and is not forced to take the shortest route. This ability replaces the barbarian’s rage powers gained at 2nd, 8th, 14th, and 20th levels. Uncanny Dodge (Ex)

Agrimmosh, the Hammer of Unmaking:
It appears to be a simple stone blacksmith’s hammer engraved with Minderhal’s holy symbol. It functions as a +2 impact warhammer that automatically resizes itself to match the size of its wielder. Once per day as a full-round action, the wielder of Agrimmosh can use the hammer to cast heightened enlarge person (Fortitude DC 23 negates). This effect lasts for 20 minutes. Whenever the wielder of Agrimmosh confirms a critical hit against a creature of the humanoid type, the target creature must succeed at a DC 23 Fortitude save or shrink by one size category, as by heightened reduce person. This effect lasts for 20 minutes. |
