Nadhi al-Safiya |
A fierce spark lights up Nadhi's eyes when the Gillman's mention of the living dead. After he covers his face with his hands, she turns to the group, "Let's go," she says, drawing her scimitar. "If there are undead nearby, we should destroy them, both for our sake and for the sake of others. And as Master Patros has said, delay can only harm our guide."

Knowledge (religion): 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Golthwur casts mage armor on himself. "Undead lie before us indeed! They should be dealt with quickly."
GM Weenerton |
The sound of casting fills the space and the skeletons turn to the emanation. They click and clatter in your direction. The leading skeleton swings a rusty scimitar.

Zenjaya |
Zenjaya slides forward, digs her heels into the stone and thrusts her arms forward.
Defensive Casting: Concentration: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Passing
A massive gout of flame flies from her hands at the skeletons. Burning hands, hits all three skeletons and no allies.
Fire Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Reflex DC 15 for half damage.
GM Weenerton |
reflex saves +2: 3d20 ⇒ (2, 10, 15) = 27
The skeletons all burst into flames. The first two skeletons char quickly and crack under the intense heat. The last in the row remains standing although badly burned.
Nadhi al-Safiya |
Taken off guard by the skeleton's quick attack, Nadhi winces as she feels the rusty scimitar bite into her leg. Not wanting to block her ally's route to attack, Nadhi decides to focus on support. Reaching out her hand, she bestows Sarenrae's blessing on Patros, before taking a step back.
Nadhi uses her third instance of touch of good to grant Patros a +1 sacred bonus to attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round.
Patros Randallas |
Patros rushes the last skeleton and brings his sword down on it, not having enough time to switch to a blunt weapon. He feels the blessed touch of Nadhi's boon.

Apologies, Golthwur. You know these to be Skeletons and can ask 3 questions of their background.
Patros bounds up and swings but misses the skeleton as the flames distract him.
Golthwur Strath |
No problem - Golthwur makes people want to ignore him! ; )
1) Lowest save? 2) Immunities? 3) Ecology?
Zenjaya |
Zenjaya breaks out into a wide grin as the skeletons fall under her assault.
GM Weenerton |
Lowest save: Fort. Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, patterns, and phantasms). Immunity to bleed, death effects, disease, paralysis, poison, sleep effects, and stunning. Immunity to anything targeting their Fort save. Ecology: Any
Golthwur Strath |
"Not surprising to encounter undead here." Golthwur announces as if unveiling some wondrous revelation. "And no sense in trying to frighten these foes or appeal to their wit. I suggest that you beat them profusely."
Eying the smoldering remains of the first two skeletons, the old coot adds, somewhat begrudgingly, "Though burning, too, can be somewhat effective."
Golthwur Strath |
Sorry, didn't realize I was up again.
Golthwur steps behind the protective form of Zenjaya then releases his quarterstaff, allowing it to fly toward the remaining skeleton.
Ranged (Hand of Apprentice) quarterstaff into melee: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 4 = 12 Damage (B): 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

The final burning skeleton mindlessly walks up to Zenjaya and swings a rusted scimitar.

Nadhi al-Safiya |
From reading the thread, it looks to me like Patros's "miniature" was mis-positioned and should have been blocking the skeleton at its previous location (since he moved up to it and attacked last round). Should we just play off of the current character positions, or should we reset? I'm fine with either, just want to know as it could affect what Nadhi does.
GM Weenerton |
Thanks, i'll retcon the skeleton attack to put Patros in there. Perhaps he'll attack and move for you ;)
Zenjaya |
Zenjaya draws her longsword, spins around Patros, and thrusts her blade into the skeleton's skull!

The last skeleton crumbles with the final strike from Zenjaya the Ifrit Bard.
The body of a male dhampir lies facedown toward the back of the cavern. The deceased dhampir was a necromancer who used this cave as a secluded place to practice his craft, but following a mistake while animating a dead gillman, his creations turned on him.
Among the fallen bodies, you find a note written by the dhampir that details plans to start an army of undead made from the “fish people” who have been frequenting this cave.

Golthwur,Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
In the belongings of the fallen necromancer you find a pearl and a longsword.
Patros also discovers a hidden door in the corner of the cave.
Nadhi al-Safiya |
Seeing the last skeleton fall, Nadhi lets out an exhilarated shout.
Examining pearl (Spellcraft (pearl): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25), Nadhi immediately recognizes the it. "A pearl of power," she announces to the group. "This could allow Master Strath or me to recall a first level spell that we have already cast this day. Perhaps you should take it, since I've already received this cloak, and your spells are quite potent," she says, offering the pearl of power (level 1) to Golthwur.
Puzzling over the longsword (Spellcraft (longsword): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12), she continues, "I can't quite make out the magic on this sword, though. Can either of you two make sense of it?" she asks, holding the sword out to Zenjaya and Golthwur for inspection.
Golthwur Strath |
Golthwur greedily accepts the pearl, then analyzes the sword.
Upon hearing, Patros describe how to activate an item of arcane power, Golthwur declares "The simpleton is impatient and has an apparent disdain for arcane craftsmanship and knowledge."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Then, mutters, "But he is essentially correct."
GM Weenerton |
I can make sense of it....it's very simple. You grab it like so, and use the pointy end to jab with. Patros says with a grin as he grabs the sword and makes a show of stabbing an imaginary opponent.
What would you ilke to do with the secret door information?
GM Weenerton |
You begin to hear the faint sounds of combat and a familiar woman’s voice half-shouting and half-reciting, “As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!”
Beyond the door is a narrow cave passage.
Golthwur Strath |
"I believe that that half-shouted, half-recitation was wholly the words of our guide, the halfling!" Golthwur pontificates as he heads toward the newly-discovered door.
Nadhi al-Safiya |
Hearing Janira's voice, Nadhi quickly follows Golthwur to the door, doing her best to hide a slight limp from her injured quadriceps. "She sounds like she's in trouble. We should aid her! We may be able to help her from a distance, even if we are too weak to attack her foe head on."
GM Weenerton |
Janira's voice fills you with courage as you step into the clearing.

Zenjaya |
@Patros: Did you claim the +1 longsword? I think so? Not sure. Haha. If for some reason you didn't, I'll take it. But it's better in your hands than mine.
Zenjaya pulls out a potion as she hurries forward. Drawing a potion of barkskin and taking a move action.
"HEY! OVER HERE, UGLY!" she calls out to the minotaur. "Yeah, you! You look like a goblin's dirty a**!"
Golthwur Strath |
"Behold minotaur!" cries the aged wizard. "For now you face, Golthwur Strath, Master of Magic, Scion of Sorcery, and Potentate of Power!"
As the echoes of his bellowing voice begin to fade, the arcane artist reaches forth toward the man-beast as a bolt of force flies forth from his finger tip. Move and casting magic missile.
Force damage (magic missile): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Nadhi al-Safiya |
Hearing Janira's inspiring speech, and seeing her companions brave acts bolsters Nadhi's spirits.
She turns to Patros, and lays her one hand on his shoulder as the other traces sacred runes in the air, intoning, "May the Dawnflower shield you from harm, and guide you safely through battle with her holy light." A shimmering glow surrounds her hands as she speaks, and a glowing orange shell of fire briefly springs into existence around Patros. She gives him a quick smile, "Use the pointy end to jab him, but watch out for that axe."
Turning away, she focuses her gaze on Janira, and moves towards the bridge.
Nadhi casts, shield of faith on Patros, granting him a +2 deflection bonus to AC for 1 minute, and then moves 20 ft. towards the fray.

Janira hangs on by a thread and takes a short step back to get just out of range of the axe swings. She reaches in her back for any last offense and produces a tanglefoot bag. She lobs it the short distance at the enemy.
“Let us remember the sacrifice of the fabled Yasmin bint Faroud, favored of the Ten, who gave her life distracting Zythrustianax, draconic scourge of the Society, so dozens of junior agents could survive. Her act of benevolence is the epitome of cooperation within

Then she draws her longsword. "Come on, then!" she taunts the minotaur.
Golthwur Strath |
"You have done well to survive this long, my dear." Golthwur says to Janira, "But this beast requires a touch of magic rather than the mundane substances found in your tanglefoot bags."
Golthwur retrieves a scroll of grease from his belongings. (Move action)
"I obtained this scroll recently," he begins casually, even as a battle rages on around him. "I believe I got a reasonable discount on it, too, no doubt due to my association with the Dark Archives. I recently obtained a sizable sample of amphisbaena feces through the organization as well. And, no doubt, you know how rare that is! Am I right?"
Knowledge (arcana) for faction goal (DC 16): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Having made his pitch, the wizard goes for the close. "Tell me, as one in possession of scholarly knowledge and having an affinity for casting spells, have you considered membership within the Dark Archives?"
Goltwur prepares a readied action to activate the scroll of grease if the minotaur--or more accurately, his axe--comes within 30 feet. If the scroll goes off, minotaur must make Reflex save (DC 11+) or drop the axe. Save must be made each round the axe is used.
Nadhi al-Safiya |
Seeing Janira come close to her, Nadhi stands up taller as she gathers her hands in front of her chest. She extends them, and lifts her upturned hands from her sides, turning her face heavenwards. Her eyes, faintly glowing with a golden light, open, as a wave of healing energy bursts forth from her body, partially healing her and Janira. Channel Positive Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 4 "My apologies, timanah.
