Boftil, his general disposition and outlook seemingly improved by the events of their last mission, seems troubled and displeased with how things have turned out of late.

He wanderers around muttering to himself and nervously gripping and ungripping the handle of his longhammer. It looks like he might just explore into a rage at any moment and is barely holding himself together.

Daedîn smiles and bows but, in general shrugs off the accolades...like Flora, he is more concerned about Ploog following up on his promises now that they've fulfilled their end...

The Slithering Maps

After the uncomfortable session of becoming heroes of Urglin, you make your way with the caravan to the Bloodworks. The orcs seem to have spotted you from afar, as they have made the preparations to load in the bulette into their arena's cells.

They grunt at each other in Orcish, and then one says, "The Boss is willing to see you."

The orcs take you back up to the viewing room where Ploog is. Once again...

Daedin:

They have most of you over that trap door.

Ploog sits at his desk, a smile on his face showing satisfaction. Next to him is an orc who is bound in chains and cuffs with a set of Masterwork Manacles on his wrists.

"Well done... You have made the arena much more profitable with one of our star attractions being back on the schedule. I suppose its time to keep up my end of the bargain and let you meet a guide." He motions his hand towards the bound orc.

"This is my property; Gulros. Now that you have met him... My part of the bargain is done." He says, with a smile.

Liberty's Edge

He leans back in his desk, quite clearly aware of your expressions of anger and betrayal. "Perhaps you failed to understand the nature of our bargain, Pinkskins. You brought me a bulette, and I introduced you to the best guide around. That guide, however, is still my property, and I won't let you touch or speak to him out of turn."

He spares a moment to pick at one of his lower canines in thought before continuing. “If you wish to purchase him, of course, I would be open to negotiating a second favor—one far less troublesome and time-consuming. In return, the slave will be yours to do as you wish. Interested?”

What say you, Pathfinders?

"Why not take your new-found fame and make yourselves legends in Urglin? Fight in the arena, exit alive as champions, and gain the guide. Want to know how the deal is better? Winner takes the loot of the defeated." He says, and points to a painting at the wall.

"Vroth the Crusher has claimed many warriors, and therefore his treasure trove is actually quite a collection." The painting shows the ettin smashing a bunch of humanoids in armor, dust and debris flying everywhere.

"I'll even let you rest for a day before your championship debut. All-in-all, thats a good deal. You win a fight, become champions, gain the guide, and keep the spoils, and then you leave the city as legends and richer for it, both treasure and Gulros."

Liberty's Edge

The Slithering Maps

So a few notes...:

In the scenario he is supposed to start the event 2 hours after you agree, but you had 38+ hours remaining and wanted to rest so I changed that. I hope you guys do not mind.

The arena map is altered. The pillars in the original version of it have been removed.

Vroth's Initiative roll has been altered for posting simplicity.

@Lorian
Yes, you may take your mount into battle.

You are ushered into the Bloodworks, the orcs clearly excited to watch what may be one of the most exciting blood sports they could ever pay to view. Many male orcs drinking heavily and having large lines to ale vendors, many female orcs cat-calling the party.

Finally you enter the arena, and a large roar of cheers and chanting begin as you make your entrance.

Ploog stands before his throne and triumphantly salutes the crowd, which roars its approval. “People of Urglin, no doubt even now you have heard of the mighty Bulette Band, the brave pinkskins who walked into the wilderness and dragged back a mighty landshark. Today we shall see if their fame endures or if it will splatter to a gruesome end from the weapons of the reigning champion, victor of forty fights.”

As he makes his announcements, he walks down one of the sets of stairs, descending about halfway to the arena’s floor. The massive double doors begin to creak open as he waves toward them.

“Let us welcome the champion of the Bloodworks, Vroth the Crusher!” The spectators rise to their feet as one and begin banging on the bleachers and support beams with approval, causing parts of the crudely built arena to groan with strain.

With a broad grin, Ploog makes a chopping motion with his hand and exclaims, “Let’s see some blood!”

You realize these Dire Wolves are trained by Vroth to not only kill someone, but to mangle their bodies while doing so. The skills required to change them to non-aggressive would be Wild Empathy.

Thorek asked wrote:

You recall no specific weaknesses about Dire Wolves.

GM Screen:

Such miss. Much avoidance.

As Thorek launches two arrows into Vroth the Crusher, a wounded and angry cry escapes the two heads, and Vroth collapses into a heap on the ground.

The crowd lets out a roar of cheer and excitement as Vroth has been vanquished! His wolves, however, continue to fight to the death!

Non-Action Perception Check DC28:

Ploog looks actually surprised and confounded from his fancy seat above the arena.

As Ploog from his seat above sees that you are annoyed with him, he waves over an attendant he has. The attendant holds up a chalkboard, and then Ploog's eyes grow even wider, but he smiles with a renewed interest.

He looks down to Vroth the Crusher's fallen and limp form, and the attendant seems to be asking him a question while pointing at Vroth. Ploog just shows a disgruntled face at whatever the attendant said, and waves his hand in dismissing the conversation.

He stands from his seat and bellows through the megaphone.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you have seen it here! Vroth has been vanquished by the Bulette Band! They still have two fierce hounds to face, however! Will they make it out alive?!"

He seems to know the answer already, but he seems rather pleased with himself by it. You are not quite sure what that is about.
