Thanks for choosing me for your game, Dys. And excellent choices in players. I forsee many awesome rp opportunities!
Sidhe Bianca Danann |
Thank you for the invite, GM! Can't wait to see how this works out!
Quick question: I've been saving buying things for my character, to get an answer to either this question or see if the Priest made it into the game. Currently, given Sidhe's background, it doesn't make a lot of sense for her to be on her own (at least for when we first arrive). Can I use some of my starting GP to pay for a hireling? And, if so, about how much gp/day would a hireling Pharasman Priest cost? The relevant rules:
Trained Hirelings The amount shown is the typical daily wage for mercenary warriors, masons, craftsmen, cooks, scribes, teamsters, and other trained hirelings. This value represents a minimum wage; many such hirelings require significantly higher pay. Typical equipment for a guard or mercenary warrior is studded leather armor and a club, shortsword, or shortspear. Most guards are off-duty soldiers or city watchmen, though some are unskilled laborers with a talent for fighting.
Untrained Hirelings (1 gp–3 gp/day) The amount shown is the typical daily wage for general, or unskilled laborers, maids, and other menial workers. This listing includes any sort of typical employment not covered by another service or job in this section. Examples of untrained hirelings include a town crier, general laborer, maid, mourner, porter, or other menial worker. A trained hireling is a mason, mercenary warrior, carpenter, blacksmith, cook, scribe, painter, teamster, and so on. The listed price represents a minimum wage for an adequately skilled worker, and an expert hireling usually requires significantly higher pay. The listed price is a day’s wages (generally 7–10 hours of work per day).
Also- hello Waskally! We both made it! Demigod time!
Onnello Ustradi |
Thank you for the invite DystopianGM, Onnello is a pretty straight forward sword and board tank. So feel free to hide behind him.
He is 'officially' a Hell-spawn Tiefling with 'pass for human,' so dark vision and a nifty race trait called 'Soul Seer' which I need to remember to use :-)
With the knightly skills he should also be able to pass for the groups face.
Edit:

Quick question: Can we use background skills to help fill in our characters? I would use them for Profession (farmer) and Profession (gambler).

Helloo! Boy, you know something big is brewing in Saringallow when not one but two children of the gods are on the scene.

Artistry (Int)
You are skilled in the creative arts, following your aesthetic sensibilities to bring to life the wonders of your imagination. Like Craft, Perform, and Profession, Artistry is actually a number of separate skills. You could have several Artistry skills, each with its own ranks. The most common Artistry skills are choreography, criticism, literature (including poetry), musical composition, philosophy, and playwriting.
Like Craft, an Artistry skill is focused on creating something. However, what it creates is not necessarily a physical object; it could be a pattern or blueprint for an item, or a better method for crafting a type of item. Thus, an Artistry (musical composition) check could be used to create a new song, but the important act of creation is the song itself, not the paper on which it is written or even the performance. An artist is not necessarily a skilled performer, though she might be. An artist’s province is the creation of ideas and concepts, and the realization of those ideas in a way that can be enjoyed by others and contribute to the broader culture of the arts. Some art forms (such as painting or sculpture) skirt the line between Artistry and Craft. It’s up to the GM to rule whether certain Craft skills can be taken as Artistry skills instead.
I think Artistry, of course if someone has Paid you to write a book maybe profession.
If your making your own paper and binding then maybe craft as well...
Yuld |
Hey y'all! Good to be joining you. Thanks for the invite, Dystopian!
Yuld's a Hedgewitch from the Spheres of Power system, making him built as a librarian and a bit of a healer mixed in. Also have some small aura buffs mixed in.
If we're using Background skills, likely will grab another Knowledge skill and Craft(Star Chart). Both make sense for Yuld.
LatooRadoo |
I painted Latoo as somewhat of a vagrant on the outskirts of town and wandering the cart tracks. In light of that Know (geo) and handle animal seem the most appropriate backgrounds for him.
Question about the RAW on Lemurfolk.
Silent Glide: A lemurfolk can launch itself into the air and glide along for 1 min., making almost no sound, and gaining a fly speed of 40 ft. and average maneuverability.
So I assume this means to glide if I jump/fall from a high place. The bit about launching myself into the air wants for a little clarification. Can I spring up off of flat ground, is that part of a move action or does the “launch” take up the standard action. I am a little confused on the mechanics of the ability.
DystopianGM |
@Sidhe: So I looked into the hireling rules in the player companions and it actually goes into a bit more detail. The Nurse hireling would probably fit your requirements, as most priests or priestesses in a church aren't really divine spellcasters. That is saved for the truly extraordinary. So I would say if you wanted a priest or priestess to follow you, it'd be 7sp/day.
@LatooRadoo: I would say you would need to jump into the air first (vertical jump like acrobatics) to glide, so the jump would take one move action then the gliding would be another.
---
I will likely put up the intro post tomorrow, so now is the time to finalize any character details and get ready to save Saringallow!
Sidhe Bianca Danann |
Thanks, DM!
Went ahead and used some of my funds to keep a Hireling (Nurse) RP'd as a Pharasman Priest of no extraordinary skill for 10 days, and if I feel he/she needs to stick around longer, I'll subtract some more gp.
Updated Sidhe's equipment, and added two ranks in Artistry: Literature and Lore: Pharasman Prophecies for Background skills. Otherwise, I'm good to go! Can't wait tof the post today!

Makes sense...thank you for the ruling.

That's for pointing that out, L.R. It's suppose to be 15. Thanks.
Dachus "Dac" Dolabellio |
It is a shame. Go for it. We'll deal with the ants. Warning: If we get another godling, I may fangirl and go squeee.
Darshanti |
Thanks for the invite, GM.
Seeing that he arrived after the battle, is Darshanti going to be lagging behind others exp-wise?
Darshanti |
Due to RL, I am afraid I am unable to continue this as much as I wanted to. Thank you for the game.
Onnello Ustradi |
DystopianGM, I know a guy who likes to play odd classes and investigating, do you want me to drop him a PM?
Dachus "Dac" Dolabellio |
Would it be funny if Dac dies, and instead of gently drifting within The River of Souls toward The Spire, gets shunted to the front of the line to be judged by Pharasma herself. As the shocked and awed godling soul stands before the Judge of The Dead, Pharasma leans down from her throne to stare into Dac and demands,
"SO DACHUS, WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOUR INTENTIONS WITH MY DAUGHTER?!!!"
Yuld |
Naw, she actually knew you would do that, being the goddess of fate and all. That means she had plenty of time to prepare a pit of sharks, scorpions, snakes, and other bad/sharp things.
Dachus "Dac" Dolabellio |
Yuld, your logic is sound and horrifying.
I communicated with Sidhe. She should be posting very soon.
Dachus "Dac" Dolabellio |
bump.
DystopianGM |
Hey sorry about that guys. We've been transitioning our toddler over to a new bed and it's been a bit hard on my sleep schedule; I've been trying to keep my head above water but this one fell off my radar and for that I apologize.
I'll get a new post in here in a few minutes. We are mostly done with the first module and I will kind of speed through the transition to the next.
