Anwar Ibn Jad |
Anwar floats over to the window and peeks inside.
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
No sign of Black, just an old woman making dolls. Lets head inside and ask around and with that he pushes open the door and floats inside, whistling as he goes.
Behind him Mirage curls up just outside the door
GM Z..D.. |
A bell rings as Anwar opens the door and enters The Dollhouse
A nauseating riot of color splashes every surface of this room. The shelves are stocked with hundreds of porcelain dolls with looks of vapid joy upon their faces. While each doll differs in hair color, skin tone, and dress, there is something eerily similar about their enraptured faces, almost as if they all bore a family resemblance. A bronze plaque boasts that “All our dolls are made from Mwangi mahogany and Tian porcelain, and are clothed in Vudrani silk and lace.”
The elderly lady turns toward the sound of the bell. She sees Anwar and smiles brigtly. "Good Day. Welcome. My name is Jaelle. Can I help you with anything."
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
Doodle stood quietly, not sure what to make of the scene and of Jaelle. She waited for the others, but if no one wanted to take the lead in introductions, she advised the woman that they were looking for Chrysalis.
Ibaz |
Before entering Ibaz casts mage armor and false life
False Life: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

"Oh you have come to see the previous owner." She goes back to her task, "I bought this adorable little shop over a year ago."
Anwar Ibn Jad |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Anwar scowls slightly, really, we understood that Black still owned this shop?
Electra Firemind |
Electra casts Mage Armor on herself too before entering.
GM Z..D.. |
The female goes back behind the counter, "No, this is my business. I have the papers to prove it." She shows you a bill of sale.
You can tell she is getting agitated
Ibaz |
Ibaz takes a look on the papers
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Seeing nothing wrong he pass the papers to those with better understanding than him at administrative business.
Anwar Ibn Jad |
Anwar also looks over the papers, muttering a simple guidance cantrip.
Takes 10 on linguistics for 18, regular perception take 10 is 26
What are you trying to pull here? he demands as he gives a short whistle. These papers are fake and you are wearing a bloody wig!
Anwar calls Mirage into the room. Given the Aspis badge the boon below may be relevant which all of my characters have.
You struck a terrible blow to the Aspis Consortium. You can include a copy of this Chronicle sheet among the records of as many of your PCs as you like, though those PCs gain no access to the other boons, equipment, or wealth from this Chronicle sheet. This boon imposes a –1 penalty on the attack rolls, damage rolls, skill checks, and saving throws of all Aspis Consortium agents and hirelings she encounters (this penalty is not cumulative with other copies of the boon).
Electra Firemind |
Together with her familiar Electra take a look, too.

"Very well.." She rips off her gray haired wig revealing a dark brown pulled into a bun. "If that how your going to be." She then pulls a blade from under her waist band. "Chrysalis does not like to be bothered."

The group hears footsteps and doors opening behind him. A loud shout can be heard as the door to the room opens revealing to thugs with great axes.

Anwar Ibn Jad |
Good to have you back

The lightning storm comes down on the woman through the window and strikes her.
Doodle sends another missile of force her way.
While the snake makes a new friend, but is too excited and misses the bite attempt.

Anward readies to call lightning one of the guards if they do not surrender, 3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4) = 8 electrical damage, DC18 reflex negates
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
”We’ve already told you why we are here. Tell us everything and here will be no more violence,”Doodle orders the woman.
GM Z..D.. |
The female yells over to the guards.."Just give up you blinded fools."
"We do not work for you winch" the one in front yells back as he rubs his eyes.
The thugs are not willing to surrender yet.
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
Doodle delays, ready to blast the woman with her wand if she changes her mind. ”The rest of you, knock some sense into those thugs!”

GM Z..D.. |
Calling this fight
"I'll tell you what I know" She stands up from the ground and begins removing her make up. "Chrysalis does keep a lab under this shop. I'll show you where it is.
She leads you to a storeroom in the middle of the hall. Jaelle then uncovers a hidden switch and pulls it. A stack of hollow crates which reveal a stair case down.
Doodlevain "Doodle" Montafescue |
”Tell us, what’s down there? Are there traps? Where are they located? Other than Chrysalis, who or what else is down there?”
Anwar Ibn Jad |
Yes, I suggest you answer our gnome friend here truthfully.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26
Before we go down we might want to use that wand we found. Fire spells tend to be fairly common so I would suggest a ward against that. Electricity too, and we may as well use the whole thing.
If everyone is OK with that I will use the wand on everyone which uses up 6 charges for 60 points of fire absorption. We can then get 4 people 60 points of electrical protection as well. I can exclude myself and Mirage from that.
GM Z..D.. |
"I honestly do not know. I do not even know when the last time I have seen Chrysalis, I have only had the pleasant company of his mother and the two thugs" She says gesturing to the two on the floor. "I run the store end of the business, the front for the Apis smuggling operation, that is it."
You sense no lies coming from those statements
Moving on to the under the doll house
A wide tunnel stretches underneath the Doll House, with uneven wooden planks serving as floor, walls and ceiling. Stacks of crates, chests, sacks, bolts of fabric, and even a discarded love seat clutter this yawning corridor. On the western edge, a narrow set of stairs leads up to the Doll House. Light spills into the dim chamber from an open doorway at the hall’s eastern end. The air is musty and putrescent.
The crates, chests, and sacks are filled with outlandish hats, gaudy baubles, and dusty wigs. A false bottom of one of the chest reveal 4 potions of cure moderate wounds and 4 potions of cure serious wounds.
Several portraits of a stern-looking woman glare into the room. One painting portrays the whole family, including a young Chrysalis Black and several younger sisters. The girls’ faces in the portrait have been melted away as if by acid.
Piled near an open chest are several of journals. The memoirs provide a clear insight into Chrysalis Black’s psychotic origins. The journals blame young Chrysalis for his sisters’ deaths, and further accuse him of creating abominations in their likenesses to torment his bereaved mother.
At the far end of the hall way, you come to a door shaped as a doll's face with a disturbingly wide grin. It also bears a resemblance to the woman in the pictures.
