Abdibot continues using inspiring command on Valon, unable to close in on the final foe.

As Amaron brandishes his scimitar and attacks, the final undead Gillman finally falls, leaving an eerie silence in the tunnel. The room beyond contains the long dead body of a dhamphir and a note detailing his failed attempt to create an undead army from the gillmen that frequent the cave.
On his person if a light crossbow and a ring that might be useful, but anything else has been destroyed.

"Skewetons and Zombies... I don't wike them. Cwockwork constructs are much better servants. No nasty dead stuff, no being mean to ewementaws. Hmm... I wonder what happened here." Chao inspects the ring.

"Hmm fresh air coming from the north!" She sniffs around and looks closely at the walls before she makes a quick squeeking sounds. "Found it! A secret tunnew!"

The fight finally over, Valon replaces his kama on his hip. "That went pretty well. They couldn't even touch me!" he declares proudly as he brushes himself off.
The monk takes a moment to look through what's left in the room, including the dhampir's note. He shakes his head as he reads it. "Foolish. Utterly foolish." Retrieving his inkpen and paper, he decides to quickly document the fight and what was found in this section of the cave system.

Chou inspects the Dhampir's items and passes them around before noting the concealed tunnel towards the north of the room. As Irini approaches the tunnel she hears a familiar voice shouting in the distance.
“As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!” From the sounds of it Janir is engaged in combat!
Following the tunnel toward her voice you eventually emerge into a moonlit field. As your eyes adjust you see Janira almost a hundred feet away, still fighting the Minotaur you had escaped earlier today.

Abdi suddenly smiles as they hear Janira's voice, but then he realizes she still battles the minotaur. "Quickly now, friends! Janira still lives, let us make sure it stays that way!" Chou rushes forward as fast as she can. "We're coming Janira! Come this way!"
She pulls out the tanglefoot bag from Janira's pack, and a flask of alchemist's fire from her cheek pouch.

![]() |

"Just how did she expect to beat that on her own..." Valon shakes his head and moves quickly into the undergrowth, drawing his kama in the process.
Made it! Apologies for the delay.

![]() |

The proverbial gears whirr in Chou's mind as she runs through all of the variables.
Ok... this doesn't need to hit a vulnerable spot, it just needs to land. Target the center of mass of the creature and make sure that there is a large enough arc such that the bag is able to strike with enough momentum to break. I can rush through the overgrowth to get a clear shot but it'll still be about 50 ft away, barely close enough to hit... It's a large target which will make things easier, but I can't imagine I have much more than even odds to make the shot... but Janira may not have much time! If only I had a mechanism designed for lobbing objects like this. Perhaps like a catapult or trebuchet, but a much smaller scale design. But what would I power it with? Perhaps a dehydrated sugar-based syrup propelled by a pre-wound clockwork mechanism and rehydrated using a simple alchemical formula. Or my own saliva. That may be easier... I sure hope I can remember this when I get some time to jot it down in my journal. Or maybe my schematic booklet...
All of this runs through her head in the time that she yells a short warning at Janira.
"Wookout!"

Chou, Irini, and Abdi begin rushing to Janira's aid.
Ace, seeing an opening in the minotaurs defenses fires a shot into the night and hears the satisfying roar of a minotaur in pain.
Janira cracks her whip, trying to wrap it around the beasts axe.
Disarm: 1d20 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 + 1 = 18 The whip yanks hard on the handle and the minotaur seems to almost lose his grip but in the last second he tears his weapon free. Janira turns to the Pathfinders. "Hurry!"
Valon rushes forward as well while Amaron trails behind, prepping Anzu for the fight ahead.
The Minotaur turns on Janira and swings his axe, cutting clean through the small, tired halfling woman.

Update to the Previous Post:
Disregard Janira's death by the Minotaur. Due to the quality of her weapon, she actually succeeded in her disarm check.
Janira with a skillful crack of her whip, tears the Minotaurs axe from his hands while shouting the beast down. "You vile beast! I know not what drives your black heart but I shall not fail in my duty! I shall see you driven from this forest back to the hills from whence you came!" Then she withdraws to the edge of the water, hoping desperately for aid.
The Minotaur roars in frustration as he picks his weapon up from the ground and runs toward Janira at the river's edge.

Abdi struggles to move through the thick underbrush, but finally reaches the river's edge and moves into a more desirable position as he raises his spear into the sky and grabs the large buckle around his belt... "Kneel beast and know your place in the face of your betters!" Suddenly a bright, golden light bursts out of Abdi and while his companions find themselves unaffected, the minotaurs staggers as the power of Ra assails him!

Chou trudges further into the bush and, miraculously, hurls a tanglefoot bag into the air, her keen eye-sight aiding in the impressive throw as it bursts against the minotaurs side, covering him in adhesive glue. Though the beast manages not to be stuck to the ground, it's clearly hampered by the item.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 I thought ratfolk had darkvision, but either way, low-light is enough to cancel the miss chance.
Irini casts her hex on the minotaur, doing her part to try and hamper her foes ability to hunt down their guide, but it stubbornly shakes off her attempt.

Abdi calls on the divine energy of his god, once again the beast's mind proves more sturdy then you might have expected.
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Ace fires his crossbow, hitting again, causing the minotaur to roar angrily towards the on coming pathfinders.
Janira fatigued, but desperate, tries to ford the river and succeeds, her desire to live, stronger than her bodies compulsions to rest. She pushes further into the brush with a nod of thanks toward the group.
Str: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12
Valon crosses the log to the west, preparing to take on the terrible beast, while Amaron starts to cast a spell to assist his allies, sending Anzu further ahead.

The beast hits the ground hard, Valon is close enough to see that it's still breathing but barely and will likely die if left alone.
We are out of initiative.

Chou carefully slows her breathing and collects herself. She flips open her journal once again and records the newly discovered entrance to the cave, and notes in her journal the minotaur's assault. Once she's content that her notes are up to date, she pulls out Janira's pack. "Here! You can have this back... we used some of it though..."
She ponders for a moment and looks back at the cave entrance. "Erm... miss Janira? Are you ok? We stiw have to finish expworing the cave..."

Janira falls back into the grass as the minotaur falls and sighs in relief. Now that the fight is over you can tell just how hard this ordeal has been for her. Covered in blood and sweat, arcane energy lingers on her finger tips from all the spells she exhausted during the day, but she still manages to look at each of you with a big smile.
"Well done, Pathfinders, that was quite the display of cooperation!" She takes a few moments to breathe and then takes her pack from Chou. "It's a bit lighter now, and honestly I'm pretty happy for it. You still have to explore the caves though? Have you discovered anything important yet?"
She looks to all of you to answer the question.

"Glad to see you're all right, Janira. Relatively speaking, anyway." Valon smiles back at her.
"Yes, I think so," he says, nodding. "There's a small pool down there with an old shrine to Aroden. We met a gillman named Uori who told us that it provides a place of reflection for some of their priests."
"There were also some carvings and rituals associated with those carvings, but one of the others can probably give you a better explanation of all that."
