Abdi smiles and nods to Uori. "Thank you for that, Uori. Every small piece of knowledge is but a large whole to figuring the puzzle." He ponders the words and listens to Chou's explanation. "You said something about illuminating the darkness, did you not Chou Wei?" He suddenly lifts his spear into the air. "Ra, god of the Sun, bring forth your illumination into this darkened place!" A bright glow appears from Abdi's weapon and he moves it closer to the diorama.

As Chou begins reciting the facts she has written on her sheet of paper, she begins to feel a strange sort of divine energy around her, it's very faint, and doesn't seem to impart any benefits. Abdi begins to feel the same energy, stronger as he nears the miniature city.
Uori smiles a bit and looks at the two of them. "Travelers past, would place their items in the city, you can still see some, old and worn." He smiles at them again, and answers Irini's questions.
"We Gillmen do not follow Aroden, but the freshwater here provides a place of reflection and rehydration for Oracles and Priests such as myself, and this place is sacred to us for those reasons. If you would treat the shrine with the same reverence, you may approach."
The waters are calm, and now that you're closer you can see risen stones knee deep, providing an easier path for those who can't swim.

Valon looks down, brows furrowed, thinking things over as he listens to Uori speak. When Uori finishes, he looks back at the gillman. "Thank you for your help, Uori. You mentioned that there are other creatures in these caves not quite as polite as us. What sort of creatures do you mean?"
He then gestures at the cloak as he looks around the rest of the cavern. "And do they have anything to do with why this isn't with its, uh, former owner?

![]() |

"Ooh thank you mister Uori!" Chou contemplates the other two carvings then turns to her friends. "Does anyone know how to sew? I make things out of metal... not cloth. And as for a beast to parade throughout the town... I didn't keep any bits of the monsters from earlier."
With that, she reverently steps across the stepping stones to approach the shrine to get a closer look.

Chou can see other craps of parchment, though long since faded, sitting in the shrine. The divine energy seems to direct her to place her own sheet of paper among the miniature streets of Absalom.
Assuming Chou does so...
When the sheet is placed in the shrine, everyone in the party feels the divine warmth from a source they can't quite name, and they seem better able to identify the creatures in the cave, and possible anything else they may come across.
Completing this ritual grants all of the PCs a +1 competence bonus on Knowledge checks made to identify the abilities and weaknesses of creatures
Abdi still feels the call of the shrine as he approaches with his weapon lit with divine magic.
Uori meanwhile answers Valon's questions as best he can.
"I do not know what sort of creatures, I have seen only a glimpse. I am an old man, and do not wish to risk my remain years investigating further. As for the cloak, I do not know. Perhaps it fell off the last pilgrim that cross the chasm, perhaps she left it in tribute, I couldn't say. I just know that it is indeed of Gillmen make."

Chou realizes what has to be done and sheds a small tear. She thinks for a moment, then makes a copy of the account on the next page in the journal so not to tear out her current mission log. She places that copy on the shrine, then notes the reason for the torn out page in the current log. Once the blessing is complete she contemplates retrieving the page, but decides that knowledge given shouldn't be taken away, and leaves it for future visitors. Suddenly her face lights up. **SQUEAK**
She scrambles back to the edge of the pool and attempts to nab one of the centipedes. "A beast to parade throughout the streets!"

As Abdi sets his spear into the city the party is once again bathed in divine light, and they get the sense that they are protected, in a way.

Chou attempts to snag one of the centipedes floating around the pool but fails to snatch it, as it wriggles out of reach of her paws.

"We should clear out these caves to make them safe for your people," Irini comments to Uori as the others perform rituals at the shrine.

![]() |

Valon nods in agreement. "That would probably be the best thing for everyone," he remarks. "We don't want to be wandering around down here with something else lurking in the dark."
The monk watches as Chou tries and fails to nab one of the centipedes skittering about near the edge of the pool. He smiles, amused. "Need some help?"
He strides to the edge of the water and kneels down, making his entire body still for a moment. Then he shoots out one arm, attempting to snag a centipede for use in the ritual.

Valon manages to smash one of the centipedes and, like his fellow Pathfinders, is overcome with desire to place the corpse in the shrine. When he does, once again, everyone in the cave feels a sort of protection envelop them from a divine source.
Completing this ritual grants all of the PCs a +1 dodge bonus to AC against charge attacks.
When Irini suggests clearing the caves, the Gillmen bows his head.
"I would very much appreciate that. I am unable to assist, old as I am, but it would be a great boon if you could clear the caves."
Sorry for the delay, busy day.

![]() |

Chou nods her head. "Yes! We'll clear out the caves for you! Maybe after you can meet our teacher Janira. Hopefully she's ok..."
She thinks for a moment, then pulls out a dagger, cuts off a small shred of her cloak, and places it into the shrine. "This one's for her."
She walks back to the larger section of the cave, then goes back through her pack. She pulls out her alchemical weapons and tucks them away in her cheeks. With a quick rinse of alcohol she's ready to go. "Aww cween! Ready to go!"
I'll vote east... to the east... always to the east...

"We could really get lost in here. Hey! That's what that guy at the store told me chalk was good for. And these art supplies... I can make a map as we go."
Ace pulls out paper and pens, and fumbles a bit as he makes a map of the area. Then he ties the chalk to a piece of string and attackes to his crossbow so he won't lose it. "East sounds good to me!", watching where the others are pointing. "That is east, right?"

The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as the Pathfinders continue down through this tunnel, and as they approach this area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident. The passage turns to the east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus and in the back a body lies face down on the damp cave floor.
Unfortunately it is not the only thing in the room, as four animated corpses turn to see the party enter and begin shuffling toward them, two skeletal creatures, and two others will flesh still hanging from bone.

"Great. Even the dead themselves want to add more to the bone pile." Irini casts a spell on Abdi to aid him in the current fight, while Ace prepares his crossbow to fire on the first creature to walk toward them.
Valon doubles up on his defense, Chou prepares her own crossbow and some acid, and Abdi blesses his companions.
Chou, you recognize these as Gillmen Skeletons (blue and green) and Gillmen Zombies (orange and red), with a 28 let's just give you the zombie stat block
The skeletons shuffle in first, with Green appearing in the tunnel before the rest, eager to feast on monk flesh. Ace fires a crossbow bolt into the creature that sticks into one of the ribs but does not seem to slow it down at all. It strikes at Valon but it's slash is pushed aside by Valons swift reflexes.

"Slash them? You mean the ones back there?" Valon asks, indicating the zombies jostling in the corridor. He notes that Ace's bolt didn't seem to do a lot to slow down the advancing skeleton, then comments, "There's not a lot on these two here to cut."
Deciding to see what happens regardless, Valon strikes at the skeleton before him (green), slashing with the kama in his right hand before following it with a low kick.

Chou has less reservations than Ace does, and the ratfolk lobs an acid flask into combat. The flask sails right passed Valon's head and smashes into the wall beside him, showering him and the zombie with acid.
Abdi continues using his divine influence to assist his companion.
