Putting a call out for new heroes to join the Justice League Rocky Mountains (I think that's what they are calling themselves). They are in training to become well-known heroes, but they are heroes in their own right and have proven themselves time and again. If you would be interested in joining us, please submit a 3rd edition Mutants & Masterminds character of PL 8. You may be an original hero, or you may be inspired by an existing DC hero. This campaign is centered in Grand Junction, CO, but exists in the classic DC Universe. We'd really like to have about three new members.

Greetings! I'm MINOTAR, one of the players in the game from the beginning. This game has its moments, and I do recommend it.
NOTE: From a personal standpoint we could really use some sort of ranged damaging 'energy' controllers (Fire/ice/lighting...whatever.) and/or a skill monkey/investigative type. Other than that anything goes.
MINOTAR is mostly a robot/Brick build. We also have a tough grapple/brick type with the ability to stretch called Straightjacket..who is also haunted by the ghost of his father I think?(We never see him, so we are not sure.) And finally Leon Moore is a 'Paper' master able to manipulate and control paper in amazing ways and a former criminal as I understand...

Sure, I've got two ideas forming in my head and one fits the ranged Damage type, though not energy per se. I'll present a short bit on each of them here I figure I could make both but if the GM/Group would prefer the applicant to be one or the other I'll focus on them.
Theodora was the lead Metzo at Colorado Opera House when it was destroyed 3 weeks ago. Just as the Climax of "E' dessa" a nearby shot rang out. It would later be determined that this shot was from the balcony and was dark matter being showed upon the crowd and performers. Theodora's note hung in the air strangely ringing out for a good 5 seconds after she had stopped singing and able to be heard over the panicked shouts of the crowd which also seemed amplified. then the Public Adress system came on and the feedback became deafening as it crystalized in the air around Theodora before exploding outwards into the ceiling blowing the roof off of the opera house. This caused the panic to amplify and others in the audience began to exhibit Metahuman behavior one man's arm lit on fire which he panicked tried to put out setting the seats on fire. another woman began floating up through the new hole in the ceiling and many others had other strange occurrences.
Will add more detail and further backstory if I go with this one
Maxwell was in the audience of that fateful night at the Opera House. He worked as a Project Manager at the Local Palmer Tech Installation. He had begun thinking of moving to corporate after being given a leadership opportunity due to Raymond himself seeing Marot in a series of side projects Maxwell had been working on. They happened to be inventions to help secure the nearby Grand Junction which had been experiencing a spike of supercriminal activity. He had made a Size reshaping ray modeled after Rays suits technology but focusing on others instead, a personal teleportation portal among other things
Maxwell would be a support-esqe character buffing up the team and debuffing enemys

I haven't looked thoroughly into the version of DC that you guys are playing in, but I could be interested.
I have this character that I would love to play. She is written as the daughter of Oliver Queen and Dinah Lance because she was from a DC game in the future of the DCAU. I could rework that backstory. She is pretty much a Batman style costumed vigilante with a Canary Cry that blows out her powers.
I'm SuperTumbler from a couple other games.
Storm Dragon
Consider this a dot. I've been wanting to dig deeper into 3rd edition for a while after initial bad experiences, but part of that was from a flawed perspective as a player for character building.
I do have a character I made for I think a different system (it may have been Savage Supers) that I liked, which would fit the "energy controller" idea, sort of. The character is made of water, with all the secondary powers that implies. They're a shapeshifter who has forgotten their original form, and so basically melds into the mindset of whatever they're impersonating that day.
Storm Dragon
Dang, Morph sure does cost a lot; way more than I expected for something with almost no mechanical benefit. Any advice from the crowd on how to drop the cost for someone who just wants to be able to choose a different appearance every day?
Or is that maybe better statted as a 1 point "Feature" since I wouldn't be using it to impersonate people?

Storm Dragon, I'm pretty easy going with point values. As long as you stay within the PL limitations, I don't get overly concerned with how many points it costs (unless I feel that you are abusing the privilege). I'd much rather you build a design to suit your concept than build to fit the system.
In this case, yes, it would be a Feature with the limitation that you cannot impersonate people.
joker 27, either one sounds great. Whichever you prefer to build and think would be the most fun to play.
Knightingale, you are more than welcome to join us. In that case, joker, you may want to go with the inventor.
If anyone needs help, I use Hero Lab to build characters, so I can help you out or error-check your work.

I am having a hell of time converting this 2nd edition character into 3rd edition. I've tried three different directions, and every time I end up 50 points over. I'm not building above PL 8 or anything, and using lots of the characters in the DC books as models (granted, most of them are way over on PP).
Still working, and still hope to join.

Building for actual attributes in 3e is a giant pain in the ass. Most cost way too much for what they actually give.
If you trim some points from attributes it should be pretty easy to drop it down, I think.
You'll remember i hit that issue for the first time in the amalgam heroes game, trying to make the Deathstroke-alike. "Human-plus" type people or characters like like Captain America style superhumans are surprisingly hard to build in 3e.
Storm Dragon
Keep in mind 3e and 2e are likely to be a LOT different than you might think. 2e was basically 3.5 with a new coat of paint, while 3e has a lot more bells and whistles, a completely different attribute system, powers function differently, etc.
It's probably best to just kind of forget everything you knew about 2e.
Straightjacket
Actually 2 and 3 aren't that far apart. The attribute system is really the same, but stripped down to the math. In D&D 3+ stat bonuses are equal to (Stat-10)/2 rounded down. M&M 3 merely cuts to the chase and assigns it to the bonus. Thus an 18, becomes a 4 and so on.
The combat mechanic is still M&M (everything is a save). There's also more things which try to keep unruly players from breaking the game (but failing without a GM keeping a close watch).
Though I guess we should move to discussion.

And here is his
Hector Laskaris grew up with a single mom who would not reveal much to him about his father. She seemed to think highly of Hector's father, but would only give vague answers to the questions that Hector posed to her.
When Hector turned 16, he was walking home from his school when a strange cog came rolling in. The fog was bizarre and Hector began to rush forward to try and get home. As he did he almost ran straight into a large man who was suddenly in front of him in a light colored suit. Hector was sure that no one had been standing there before the fog rolled in, so he started backing up. The figure held up his hands and told Hector to stop. He then explained to Hector that he was his father and his name was Zeus.
It took a while for Hector to believe that the man was his father and also a mythical figure. The two spent what seemed like hours talking in the foggy streets. At the end, Zeus told Hector that it was time to give him his present. He told Hector to call on his name while wanting the Gift. When Hector did, a bolt of lightning struck him and his physical form erupted into a body made of pure energy. As Hector looked down at himself the fog melted away and his father was gone.
Since that time, Hector has been flying around learning about his abilities and preparing to become a hero like his legendary half-brothers.

Olene would see through use of the experimental therapy using the particle improvements to her body gradually, gradually appearing to heal from her injuries. It would be brought to a sudden end as tensions between Ukraine and Russian separatists boiled over, mortar fire striking the laboratory and creating an explosion of the scantly explored particle. By the time the dust cleared, only Olene had survived, now a strange fiery green entity, found quickly by associates of the Justice League. The day when Emerald Kometa was born.
Olene, before the incident had taken mostly after her parents. An intellect far beyond her years, eager to join her parents in research of particle science. The death of her parents and the exact events that occurred weighs heavily on her mind along with her strange foreign powers, often feeling less Human for it. Olene’s physical state ranges between her energy particle form and her normal physical form, using the assistance of crutches and or more commonly a wheelchair while solidifies as a normal Human. When in particle form, she rarely stands of the ground, mildly floating about.

and the Rigel Kent that I would put together for this would be a Blue Lantern
