You know, I don't really like how this game (d20) has moved away from description affecting the outcome. Here I am being the smart one in how I'm fighting the fire, and yet I know it is pointless because the rolls are completely unaffected by my smart methodology. I also note how once the gm says it is a dice roll, no one really describes it anymore, they just roll the dice and say enough to indicate what the roll is for. Very sad in my opinion.
Use create water to douse the squares that are not yet burning to slow the fire's spread. Oh, and you can also use a container, cast create water three times into it, then you'll have 6 gallons to put out a square of fire, and honestly, if 18 seconds each bucket is too slow to keep up with putting the fire out, then the fire mechanics need fixed (old bucket lines took a awhile because they had to catch up rather than keep up, since by the time the bucket line starts the entire building is already burning.)

![]() |

The rolls are there but ultimately there is room for bonuses / penalties for outside the box thinking. If you have a good description for how you are trying to put out a square of fire. That said just remember that this fire was started just before you got here and is to the point that it is raging and spreading at a high rate of speed. Basically the scenario calls for each of the fires, including new ones to spread to a new square each round. Create water is only 2 gallons per level which will indeed stop one from spreading, essentially slowing down the fire. Not all fires are this far along usually. If lvl 3 then Create water will put out one of the squares.
The group rushes about the hut, slapping their cloaks against the ground, moving flammable objects away from the flames and stomp out what they can.
