Heccan Abraxi |
Heccan raises a concerned brow when he finds the passage. He tries to hide a startled jump when Graz makes contact but is unable. The crafty sorcerer smiles and nods to Graz with a sheepish grin. Upon seeing the chamber, his eyes go wide. Heccan takes in the opulance of the room, and his look reveals a repressed longing. He shakes his head and tries to re-focus on the task at hand.
"Be cautious, friends. We have already learned the Apsis swine are able to veil their presence. Though I would normally counsel restraint and caution, I currently would prefer Graz claw first and question later should anyone find anything amiss. That said, I would be very interested in questioning one of these villains if given the chance."
Heccan carefully steps into the room, staying along the wall. As he does so, he closes his eyes and allows his sinister nature to bubble to the surface. Gritting his teeth, almost as if pained, he opens his eyes and examines the room. The Chelaxian's features seem sharper and less affable than his normal demeanor and his eyes seem tinged with red.
Heccan will move to location on map and cast Detect Magic to see if he can pick out any magical auras in the area.
Herodotus Vanatir Krezla |
Herodotus nods at Heccan's words as he sides up to the sorcerer. Scanning the room for threats, he asks in a distracted tone of voice: "Noble Heccan, something seems to cause you discomfort. Is there something in this room you recognize as a danger? Or perhaps ... bad memories?"
He peers into the room, squinting and in a clearer tone of voice adds "Something isn't right. Why aren't there Aspis bodies and a triggered trap?"
"Uh, because this is a setup and we're about to be ambushed? Only thing that could make it worse is if we were ambushed by a pair of those synthesist summoners. With snake heads all over. Uuuurgh..."

Heccan Abraxi |
Heccan turns as Herodotus speaks to him. He offers a smile and answers the paladin in an uncharacteristically straightforward manner. "Hm? Oh no Herodotus, I was just admiring the craftsmanship and architectural elegance of the chamber. It...reminds me of another time, another life. Please, do not allow my digression to distract.." As Heccan speaks he hears Herodotus' sword issue its warning. "I believe your companion has the right of it, good sir Herodotus. We should be vigilant. I am searching the room for any arcane signs of mischief, I shall report my findings shortly."
The Chelaxion returns to scanning the room for magical auras.
GM Tyranius |
Sickened rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 4
The group slowly enters the room as Heccan begins to scan for magical auras. Near where he currently is Heccan does not pick up an aura in general but rather a disturbance in magic itself. When the wards protecting the Sky Key were breached, the dimensional forces surrounding the artifact caused space in this room to bend in an uncomfortable way. The Sky Key’s influence also causes brief scenes to flash into view, like a hazy mirage near the pedestal as Jory creeps closer.
A ghostly image of a Pathfinder appears in the center of the room, where his likeness eerily begins to slide through the display case. His voice echoes as he speaks to an unseen party. “Oh no, they’ve stolen the Sky Key. It also appears they disrupted the auxiliary stabilizer, too.” He pauses before continuing. “Do you feel that? I feel kind of sick all of a sudden. I hope they didn’t try to disassemble it—or worse, bring it too close to the tapestry. Wasn’t that why Zey kept them so far—” The figure’s words go unfinished as he begins to scream and dissolve, fading from view in a matter of seconds.
As the image fades a dimensional tremor begins to wane as a pair of creatures are twisted into existence. A look of feral surprise and aggression on their twisted and malevolent visages. These flame red humanoids appear to be a strange mix of insect and reptile, with four arms and twitching, fanged mandibles.

Delay to see what others do. Do not plan to be flanked for eight attacks, probably ten if they bite. 56/59 hp and one ki left.
Herodotus Vanatir Krezla |
Herodotus gasps as the scene unfolds before knocking an arrow into his bow. "Creatures! That are four armed! I have no idea what they might be!" he shouts as he lets loose, while the blade pipes up: "Heeeeyyy four armed freaks! How's it going? Do we have high ground advantage here? If so, my attacks are one higher. Also, all of my shots are with cold iron arrows; I do not have any regular arrows anymore (predates this scenario, but I diggress)
Graz Razortusk |
Graz watches as the shimmering magical images appear and disappear. Still scratching his head what those things mean, he growl fiercely as the insectile outsiders appear and attack poor Jory.
Charging into the wavy field around the Sky Key, Graz comes to the aid of this dwarven teammate, ignoring the nauseating effect as he comes.
The burly fighter slips in behind the southernmost enemy, ready to strike with his iron chain.

Sabrina knows that their bites can cause paralysis. usually once a creature is found helpless the Xill will implant and lay eggs within the host, which hatch in 24 hours. The young then chew their way out of the host. Sabrina also recalls that Xill are very resistant to magic effects.
Herodotus fires a quick round of arrows at the red Xill, though only one of his arrows is actually able to make it's mark.
Jory fires three arrows at point blank range at the green xill. Three of his arrows pierce the creatures thick flesh, causing it to scream in intense pain as one of the arrows pierces it's abdomen. The creature looks very near to falling to the ground at any moment.

Heccan listens and just smiles as Herodotus apologizes. The sorcerer turns to Jory and leans down, speaking in a hushed tone. "I am glad you are well Master Redcap, and no doubt the heat of battle enriches the blood so to speak. Just be warned that I play no game with the powers I command, though command is perhaps too strong a word. Know this, each time I call forth things not of this realm I pay a price, a terrible price, so I do not do so lightly. Even so, there are limits, but do not trouble yourself. The next time we face a powerful I will, at your urging, be less judicious with what remains at my disposal." Heccan offers the dwarf a wicked grin then rejoins Herodotus.

Sabrina takes out a Pearl, closes her eyes, and mumbles a prayer on the way there.
Bless becomes re-memorized.
Once at the door Sabrina asks Graz a question:
Mighty Graz, if you wish I can make you even stronger and larger than you are know. The drawback is you will be a little slower and easier to be hit. You know the phrase the bigger they are the harder they fall?
As for the rest of you it might be prudent for me to ask for a blessing from the Ancestors before rushing in.
Jory Redcap |
"Sabrina, you should stick to the blessings and stop this infernal magic. I truly would like to be blessed."
I think Sabrina has mage armor still on, if not, we can use my wand of mage armor for all that want to partake.
Heccan Abraxi |
Heccan approaches the door and leans his head in to get a better listen, holding a hand upward in a gesture meant to halt the party. He looks gravely at Herodotus. "Do you hear that? Sounds like yet another party I was not invited to, though I suspect we all will be crashing the gala shortly. I know not what villains await us, but we best prepare."
GM Tyranius |
Opening the door Heccan sees a table at the center of this rectangular room is completely contained within a rune-inscribed circle set into the floor. Atop the table lies a Kelishite man’s body, spread-eagled and bloodstained. At the far end of the chamber hangs a ragged tapestry torn down its center. A peaceful wood with trampled undergrowth is visible through the tear, though the tapestry clearly hangs against a solid wall.
Two Lamia prance about the room in absolute delight as they cheer. Aram Zey is dead! At long last, our jailer is dead!
Their celebration is cut short as they turn and notice the group of Pathfinders, ruining their good time.

He starts with a thistle arrow.

Heccan would buff himself before opening the door. If allowed, he would cast both cat's grace and shield upon himself.
That is fine. I am just pushing forward. Retcon healing and small buffs you would have done anyways. The only thing I go against is situational buffs that you know you would not have done before entering a room.
After taking a 5-foot step closer her Deathwatch should tell her if Zey is actually dead or just unconscious. How high is the ceiling in this room?
The ceilings are 20 feet high
As Sabrina approaches she magically inspects the body sprawled out on the table before her. From what she can tell Aram Zey is in fact dead.
With a grimness in her voice Sabrina says a quick prayer to the gods to show these Aspis fools retribution and vengeance.
Jory snaps off a few quick arrows at the Lamias. His first two arrows stick right into the red creatures torso, causing it to lurch to the side in pain.

Herodotus Vanatir Krezla |
Herodotus barely finishes a silent prayer to the Inheritor before the secret door is opened. The scene is unbearable to watch; even though Aram Zey was insufferable, it did not make violence against the man justifiable. Gritting his teeth, he does not wait any further; he steps to the side and begins firing as Gamin exclaims "Holy s$@@, Venture Captain Ass is dead!"

"That isn't his name Gamin!"
GM Tyranius |
Only one of Herodotus' arrows is able to penetrate the red Lamia's defenses. The arrow clips the Lamia's back end causing a fresh line of blood to drip out onto the floor.
Both of the Lamia's quickly begin to cast. Upon completion several copies spring forth, mimicking their each and every movement. The two Lamia's continue to hide behind the room's many pillars as they laugh.

Fools! Aram Zey is dead. It is too late. The lamia throws it's head back and howls.

Jory points to the injured lamia (red).
Heccan Abraxi |
Round 1
Heccan grimaces as he lays eyes upon the foul beasts. He once again draws upon the power of the pit, causing a small ball of flame to manifest over his right outstretched palm. The Chelaxian hurls the flaming ball at the northern lamia. The ball expands and crashes down with considerable force engulfing the creature in flames.
Heccan takes a standard action to cast fireball and casts it at the red lamia. The room is deep enough where Heccan should be able to strike the lamia only. Also note, Hec's AC with all buffs is now 22.
FIRE!: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 1, 1, 1) = 12 Save DC 17.
Will wait for round 2 action until after lamias post action.
Sabrina X |
"You shall pay for your crimes, foul creature!"
Enraged, Sabrina rushes into the room using the columns for cover as flames erupt from her hands towards the green lamia.
Fire Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 1, 4) = 13
Area cone-shaped burst
