Yes, there is now a map at the top. paizo did not provide one with this encounter but I think this is about as close to the description as there is.

Dodging past the flat-footed lepers Roscoe leaps atop the table containing the late Venture-Captain's body. In one fluid motion he slashes his Wakizashi at Ben-Garri but misses as his feet get tangles up in Targos' limp arms.

Seeing his comrades move in Jhon Doe steps forward stabbing his rapier into the nearest leper's throat, quickly ending his life.

Pulling out his longbow Kirian quickly fires. the arrow falls short sticking in the table near Targos' body and Roscoe's foot, nearly impaling the halfling's toes.

If you have a plan or power you want to use please state it plainly (at least in the ooc). That movie/TV standby where somebody has a plan but is all mysterious about it to the team mates may be dramatic, but doesn't work well when the teamates all have agency, and aren't even sure what you want them to do.

True enough, but there are still things such as player/character knowledge to consider in tactical situations. That and tipping off the bad guys and just shouting what you are going to do above the sounds of battle is probably not advisable either.

Yeah, but our characters have been traveling together for quite a while, so I think it is reasonable to assume that they have discussed their powers (unless a character for some reason wouldn't) and likely tactical scenarios.

Rilia, Sacred Hetaira wrote:

Depends. It is only a problem if knowing you are going to do X gives the foe a plausible chance to counter it.

One thing that often disappoints me is that there is little teamwork and corordination in most TTRPGs I play. I don't want long tactical discussions in the middle of combat. But i'd like to feel like we're a team-- even though it is tricky, especially when all of us have not met before. I don't have all the answers, but figuring out how to work together is something I care about.

You usually get more of that in modules and Adventure Paths. Groups always start of uncoordinated and after a couple of fights end up pulling together. Society is a bit more chaotic as it is too short of scenarios to do a whole heck of a lot of coordination, especially in RL games that are on a strict timer.

A little slower to react Rilia is able to get her whip free from it's holster as lance steps up to Ben-garri and cracks his jackal mask wide open with his blade.

Roscoe shudders as the Leper claws at him and assumes a defensive posture. Kirian swings his large hammer at the leper, but she quickly ducks down behind the table. Kirian chokes back on the handle of his hammer in fear of striking either Targos or Roscoe.

@Kirian- sometimes initiative gets shaken up in PbP, due to who posts when and such.

Having failed to previously break through the leper-priest's enchantment, Kajar attempts to convince Ben-Garri into surrendering, or simply fleeing. Ben-Garri has been is demoralized, no need for more threats ;D

Kirian, he doesn´t deserve any kind of mercy! He wanted to desecrate our Venture-Captain and impregnate Rillia!

Seeing no place where he can thrust him, Jhon picks a dart and throw it agains the man, hoping to not hit any of his companions.

Dart, in combat: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 7 - 4 = 41d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

And he manages to not hit anyone, companion or not.

Yup, Just post when you can. No need to wait for your turn. I will then place your actions in your initiative order or whichever makes the most sense (in the Parties favor). If your target is killed and you are near a new one I will redirect your attack.

Rilia cracks her whip at Ben-garri in an attempt to trip the leper, though she needs more practice with the whip as it just snaps against the wall.

Lance juts forward, ramming his langsword straight through ben-Garri's chest, ending his life.

********************************************************************

After returning to Lopul, securing the corpse of Targos Min-Katheer and preparing it for travel, the Pathfinders find that the Pathfinder Society has arranged for a number of domesticated dromedary (one-humped) camels to serve as their mounts as they cross the high desert and make for Katheer. One camel is provided for each Pathfinder, including sufficient supplies and waterskins to make the trip, and another camel is granted to bear the shrouded body of the deceased venture-captain during the journey. Riding these trained creatures requires no special skill, but fighting while atop one or to attack in the manner of a warhorse requires the usual Ride checks.

Despite having the necessary means of transportation, the Pathfinders will still require assistance in crossing the desert on the trade road. This is best accomplished by joining one of the so-called “silken caravans” that traverse the Silken Way. The Pathfinder Society contacts in Lopul direct the Pathfinders to one such caravan master whom the Pathfinders can bargain with for passage with a caravan.

The caravan in question is run by a Qadiri noblewoman of the deep desert tribes named Jamila al-Shafah (female human). She is a dark-skinned beauty with henna-streaked hair and green eyes highlighted with kohl. She dresses in traditional desert rider garb, although the luxurious fabrics and cosmopolitan cuts display her wealth and success as a trader of silks and precious stones of the desert. She can be found at a caravanserai at the edge of Lopul where she is taking on the final few travelers to join her caravan. The PCs find her seated at a table with a large Taldan man in battered but serviceable half-plate armor, a shorter Qadiri man in a city-dweller’s vest and fez, and an Osirian trader in white robes with an elaborate gem-studded pectoral. These individuals are introduced as the final travelers to sign on with the caravan. They consist of:

• Gaspar du Mer (male human): An aged Taldan knight who always wears his dented and tarnished armor, even in the greatest heat, and is prone to stroking his long handlebar moustache and chin beard when in conversation or thought. In his twilight years, he has become a dealer of weapons along the western length of the Silken Way, and his portion of the caravan consists of five camels bearing bundles loaded with exotic, curved swords and daggers from central Kelesh for resale in Katheer and points west.

• Mahmoud (male human): Mahmoud hails from the souks of Katheer, as can be recognized by his typical clothing for a souk merchant of that city. He is Gaspar’s partner in the weapons trade and maintains their primary contacts within central Kelesh. He is a few years younger than Gaspar and is prone to sudden explosions of hyperbole and feigned indignation when in a disagreement due his lifetime spent haggling in the bazaars (e.g., “You trample on my honor like the fleas of a thousand angry camels with an offer at that price!”).

• Hokama Pashket (male human): Hokama is a successful water merchant from the ancient kingdom of Osirion. He is primarily on this trip to establish contacts and new markets, so he travels with only three camels heavily laden with full waterskins and dowsing rods of questionable reliability, as well as his slave-boy, Atmar.

The caravan gathers in the cold hour before dawn and sets out northwest just as the first bit of pink touches the eastern horizon. The Pathfinders are given the ignominious rearmost position in the camel train eating the trail dust of the others since they were the last to sign up. Directly in front of them are the camels of Hokama Pashket tended by Pashket himself, his slave Atmar, and a pair of drovers (male humans).

Over the course of a day's travel, you learn of these small snippets of information about your fellow Caravaneers.

The route of the Silken Way takes caravans across the corner of the great western erg, or sand desert, of the Keleshite Empire. This desolate waste of wind and sand crosses vast stretches of dunes and salt flats. It reaches temperatures of 130 degrees (54 C) during the day and 40 degrees (4 C) at night. As a result, most travel is done during the morning and evening hours when the average temperature hovers around 95 degrees (35 C). Even during this time, creatures not native to the desert must make a Fortitude save (DC 15, +1 for each previous check) each hour or take 1d4 points of nonlethal damage. Individuals wearing heavy clothing or any sort of armor (not including shields) take a –4 penalty on this saving throw. Bonuses for successful Survival checks and further information regarding heat dangers are described on page 303 of the DMG.

As a result of this condition, two circumstances predominate: foes and allies alike may already have some nonlethal damage (as may the Pathfinders), and almost no one wears armor while out in the desert (the Pathfinders should adhere to practice this as well in order to minimize the effects of exposure). The rests taken by the Pathfinders at night and during the hottest midday hours (provided there is shade and water on hand) are sufficient to allow the recovery from nonlethal damage.

Everyone make DC 15 Fortitude saves for heat.

Setting up for the afternoon the Pathfinders pull out a tent for the so that they can cool themselves out of the noon sun during their rest breaks and regain any nonlethal damage lost due to the heat. Shortly after establishing the tent for the midday rest, a sudden wind blows in off the erg carrying a wall of dust and grit—a sandstorm is coming.

Need a Dc 20 Perception check to keep Hokama's Camels in sight during the storm.

Go ahead and roleplay out recovering the body with Ben-Garri to this at your pleasure. :)

It is a little different from what i've seen before. As I understand it: If you name is bold, you can go.

"Now that everyone is dead, does anyone have any idea what was going on?!?"

And I believe we discussed getting new clothes before we leave. Can we just assume merchants are available and take care of that without RP?

HOT WEATHER OUTFIT

Price 8 gp; Weight 4 lbs.
Covering your body from head to foot in light, airy cloth keeps you cooler than baring your skin to the sun. This outfit typically consists of a loose linen robe and either a turban or loose head covering and veil. The outfit provides a +2 bonus on Fortitude saves to resist warm or hot weather. This does not stack with any bonuses gained from the Survival skill.

"No quarter was asked" Lance offers as the body bleeds out on the floor. "I suppose our fellow Pathfinder had made some enemies in life who sought to vex him in death, or perhaps they are just common bodysnatchers come to ply their dark trade. For all we know they had him fitted up for dressing in bandages and haunting their crypts as some sort of mummified temple guardian. Well that wont be happening. No point taking the diabolist prisoner, as then we'd be bickering back and forth over what to do with him later - I don't suppose there's much in the way of legitimate authorities to hand him to, so then what? Hand him back his sword and bid him a farewell so he can return to nefarious and fell deeds? No, better for everyone this way"

Dressed in the hot weather gear Lawrence of Arabia style, Lance has much admiration for Gaspar and his stoicism in the heat.

"It is an honour Gaspar du Mer, to ride in your company. I have pledged my sword to the glory of Taldor, and the service of her Lady Gloriana Morilla - her ventures are breathtaking in scope and imbued with such dignity, she is the fairest and noblest maiden of the Inner Sea - I do believe it is Taldor that shall ascend once more, and such a rise offers opportunities to those with heart and steel to share the glory" Lance then spends the time making what enquiries he can of Gaspars experiences.

Lance is all about Taldor and the chance for even a bastard like himself to find dignity and honour (and title!) with Taldor, and that he wants to write sonnets about Lady Morilla

"Lance, though I do applaud your tenacity, I think Master Kirian had a good plan to keep Ben-Garri's breath long enough to discover his motives regarding our fallen Venture-Captain. It is not a weakness to give quarter when none is sought. Sometimes surrender is the key to the mystery."

As Kajar peruses the hot-weather suits available for purchase, and feeling his light coin purse, the half-orc chooses to strip off his armor and wears his breech-cloth leggings, strapping his armor to his pack.

Smiling his toothy grin, "Ain't like I'm gonna tan out here anyways, eh?"

Kirian Yestos is clearly unconvinced by Lance's rationalizations, but he turns stiffly and walks away frowning rather than continue an argument.

Despite their differing viewpoints, Lance pulls what change he had from his purse and ensures Kirian can get an outfit without selling his wares.

Lance has 17gp to his name, so 8 each leaves him with 1gp... Enough for accommodation and a few pints of ale!

"Foolishness is giving quarter to a foe who is still actively trying to kill you and has the wherewithal to do it. Certainly there could have been some alternatives, but when steel flies with intent it isn't always easy as 'take him alive' is it? Especially when his fell magics had already cowed so many of our numbers and left cuckolded their will to fight. He fought with spell and sword right to the bitter end, not a sign of surrender... indeed it was only my strong will forced back his last act of sorcery before he fell."

Lance seems unconcerned, satisfied that the removal of a demon-kissing cultist that attacked first is a good and righteous deed.
