drat, meant to move out of the aura radius. Wasn't clear enough in my post :-(
and another thing what's with all these 6's for the aura damage!
Arggh!
Evaladane grimaces with pain as the flames lick around him. dammit I knew i should have moved further away. Chronicler Asadius said as much in his 'how to cast spells and stay alive' How could i have forgotten that!
His magical pony disincorporates. Meanwhile he goes on total defence and tries to extract himself from the line of fire. Hoping the be able to dodge through the skeletons grasp...
ac for AOO is 21. moved myself assuming i don't get floored!
Morrin the Stout |
In work at the moment, so could someone move me down two squares? Thanks!
Seeing as to what happened with the other skeleton, Morrin moves into the thick of the fight!
Stupid thing! Why must you make this so hard!?
Morrin then tries to shove the flaming skeleton off the broken edge of the tower!
Bull Rush!: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
I will eat the AoO to push that damned thing off the tower!
Morrin the Stout |
Maybe not, but here's to hoping! I'll try again if it doesn't work.
GM Tyranius |
Morrin moves next to the skeleton. As he squeezes past everyone the skeleton claws at movement out of the corner of it's vision.
AoO Claw vs Morrin AC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
The claw barely misses the man as he sinks his armored shoulder into the skeleton and slams into it. The skeleton is pushed back over the edge of the broken floor of the tower falling into the rubble pile2 floors down. The skeleton explodes below sending fire and bone flying to the far reaches of the lower level.
Combat Over
Kel Na'Yaa (4/12; after the infernal healing has run it's course)
Dandy (2/11)
Morrin (10/12}
Eveladane (1/7)
Febida (-9/14)
Hakuzo (5/8)
Morrin the Stout |
Gasping as the explosion rocks him, Morrin goes through his backpack and grabs the Troll Oil, feeding it to Febina, followed by taking out his Smelling Salts to wake her.
Troll Oil automatically stabilizes for an hour, and the Smelling Salts will wake Febida up, so she can channel or UMD before falling unconscious again. This uses 1 use of smelling salts of 10. Morrin will keep on using the salts until Febida doesn't fall unconscious after healing.
You stay with us, you hear me?!
Febida Stonehair |
Whoo! That's one for the record books! Lore Keeper! Get on it!
Febida coughs at the smell of the salt, then nearly hurls as she tastes the troll oil. "Next time you wake me, it had better be after a few stout beers and a long night, and not with that horrid salt."
She takes hold of the wand, hitting herself with healing magic before passing out again, needing the salt again. "I take it back, I need to be more than drunk for this." After a third wake up, she looks up at Morrin. "You must be really special for me to wake up to you more than once."
Assuming we can take the average roll instead of rolling since we're out of combat(1d8+1, 4+1=5), Febida needs three hits before becoming stable and awake.
Again, using average rolls, Febida proceeds to heal everyone back up before healing herself.
Total Charges needed:
Kel Na' Yaa |
Kel sits up, wheezing as his breath slowly comes back.
Wha--... What the hell is this place... And what were those?!
Afte he rests a moment more, he gets up and starts searching the area thouroughly.
Take 20 on Perception. Total is 27.
Gotta be something important in here...
Eveladane tsalion |
Morrin, you're a star! So courageous and resourceful! More and more I see that Dromguld was right about the importance of being part of a party
Ev casts detect magic and searches the room, with help from Max. who had been hiding high above in the rafters and now comes back to join him.
perception : 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
perception max : 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
i'd cast infernal heal on Kel so he needs 1 or 2 less charges depending on whether he wants to be on full or not... And Ev only needs 1 cast to take him close enough to full.
Kel Na' Yaa |
I wouldn't mind it at all. :)
The Dandy Hobo |
After the savage strike, the man wipes the blood from his face. Luckily, the party manages to finish off the last skeleton.
"I do apologize for being so useless in that encounter.", Dandy frowning at his inability.
When Febida heals him, he bows politely. "Thank you, madam! Most kind of you!"
Hakuzo Akari |
Sorry about the long absence, my posting rate will be pretty reduced for some time due to real life. Please tell me if that's too big of a problem to cope with, I'll understand.
And I've been saying this through all of my campaigns today, and I've been thinking, why do I keep missing when it's so near a TPK?
GM Tyranius |
Searching the room the group finds that the altars still contain their silver services (100 gp) as well as 2 silver holy symbols of Nethys. In addition there is a scroll that radiates magic sitting on each altar.
Eveladane tsalion |
ok, let's see what we have here then.
After scouring the room Ev turns up a somewhat disappointing haul. Focusing his mind on the magical spectrum he attempts to identify the scrolls.
spell craft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
cast detect magic and assuming elven racial for IDing.
Whilst doing all that he looks up with appreciation when Febida gives him the tap. Thanks, I got pretty burnt there, but no where as badly as you! What was it like... Did you see the abyss, did you experience a projection of your anthromoporhic idealisation of your positive aspirations as your consciousness faltered - must have been fascinating
Enthusiasm bundled with insensitivity alive and kicking as he badgers Febida.
Once all is wrapped up he joins the others looking at the next door.
hope your ok Hakuzo, maybe you just go real quiet for a while and get NPCd in combats?
GM Tyranius |
Hope all is well Hakuzo.
Looking over the scrolls Eveladane unfortunately does not recognize what they are.
Looking in the doorway is the spiral staircase. It looks as if it is clear leading up and down one floor.
Morrin the Stout |
I'm guessing that those things love the stoutfolk better than most! They went after you pretty quick. As for you, Ev, your magic pony seemed to do well as a slight distraction.
RP Roll: 1d2 ⇒ 1
I'll take a tap from my wand, just in case. I still have a tingling in my arm from our fiery friends. As for where we should go, should we head farther up, of check the stairs going down? I'd rather keep going up to see what's up there.
Morrin rolls his shoulders a bit, cracks his neck, and starts to float a saved sling bullet around his head.
Agreed, I hope all is well!
Eveladane tsalion |
hmm, haven't quite got these scrolls figured out. What does that sigil mean again...
Ev is lost in a world of his own. Still trying to make sense of the scrolls. He looks up when Morrin addresses him.
Yes, thanks, I did my best. Although clearly you were the man of the day!
spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Kel Na' Yaa |
Kel starts to inspect the staircase.
Looks clear in both directions. Which way? Up or down?
He keeps his dueling sword drawn, and every now and then winces from movements that ache from the beating put on him by the skeletons.
Kel Na' Yaa |
Thats what I thought too. But the GM said it's clear going up one level as well as one down. Maybe up to the roof?
GM Tyranius |
you were only able to reach the third floor from the collapsed wall. So you have currently cleared the first and third floor. There are five total floors.
Kel Na' Yaa |
Personally, I think we should start at the top and work our way down. What do you guys think?
Morrin the Stout |
While Morrin is willing to go up, again, he feels safer with the others, so he'll stick with the group.
Eveladane tsalion |
Well Drakguld Compendium did always mention that the biggest monsters live at the top of the tower! Maybe it would be best to go there before we get any tireder or use any more of our resources. Although i must admit I hope these guys were the worst we'll face!
Thinking a little and reliving the battle they just survived. Although hitting things isn't my domain, I wonder is there anything around here that you sword types could pick up and use as clubs? If we were to encounter more skeletons it would be good if more of us had some means of damaging them. What do you think?
As he speaks he looks around the rooms they've just been in to see if there is anything suitable.
Hey Hakuzo, did you find something amidst all the bat bits? Did you manage to work out what it did? I could have a look for you...
If Hakuzo is off line, then is it reasonable for us to use whatever he found? and seeing as im doing soo well at IDing these scrolls...
Morrin the Stout |
I can still use them as weapons, but they'll break from the shared damage, haha. Pretty much anything five pounds or less can, and will, be used as ammunition for my telekinetic blast.
I agree, as I don't want to fight flaming skeletons again. Or at least close enough for them to hurt me.
Febida Stonehair |
Febida picks up one of the skeleton's femurs, giving it a good swing. "I think this'll work for now. Unless you guys can find something else for a blunt weapon?"
Weighing her options, Febida votes going to the second floor.
A bone weapon is a fragile weapon. Will keep that in mind.
Kel Na' Yaa |
To the second floor it is, then.
Kel takes a look down to the second floor before slowly proceeding.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
GM Tyranius |
The group makes their way down to the second floor where racks of weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. A horrible stench fills the room as well, akin to the smell of rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer.
Kel Na'Yaa: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Febida: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Hakuzo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Dandy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Morrin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Eveladane: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Hakuzo, Morrin and Eveladane are able to hold their breath from the stench in time. Kel Na'Yaa, Febida and Dandy were not so lucky as the stench sewer gets t them nearly causing them to throw up on the spot.
Kel Na'Yaa, Febida and Dandy are sickened for 10 rounds
Looking through the slight hazy room the group sees two humanoids with a dull gray scaley hide. It's frame resembles that of a cave lizard, with a long tail and crests on their heads and back.
Hakuzo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Kel Na'Yaa: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Would I be able to use my Profession: Blacksmith to determine the quality of the weapons left on the wall?
"Huh. Some of these weapons are-- hmmp! BLAAAAgghh..." Some of the weapons are covered in vomit.
"Ah crap, more things wanting to kill us."
Drawing her waraxe, Febida is ready for comba--Oh gods the smell! She tries to regain her posture, but it's somewhat failing from her trying to dry heave her stomach out.
Full defensive, +4 dodge to AC.
Morrin the Stout |
Stepping into the room, Morrin moves next to the door, but out of any line of potential fire.
By the gods it smells in here! What are these things?! They don't look friendly....
The sling bullet orbiting the man's head starts to spin faster and faster until Morrin points to the blue creature.
Bang!

"What is that ungentlemanly aroma?", the overpowering scent wracking him far more than it should. Upon seeing the scaled men, though, he prepares for combat despite his condition.

The attempt failing again, sigh, Dandy drops the whip. "Haberdash!", he calls out.

Ergh, what a stink! I can't quite place that smell, I'm sure drakguld had something to say about that...
Once they get through the door.

Dandy snaps his whip around the scaly creature. As he pulls the creature nearly pulls him to the floor before he drops his whip.
Morrin shoots the stone at the beast like a bullet. The stone slams into the creature's shoulder causing it's arm to go limp.
Feeling ill Febida goes completely defensive as they enter the room.
Febida quickly looks at the weapons. Most seem to be quite rusted.
The scaly beasts grab a nearby javelin and hurl them back at Morrin.
Red Javelin vs Morrin AC 15: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Blue javelin vs Morrin AC 15: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Febida hesitantly moves forward, keeping her defensive stance. She's learned from last combat that she's not as invincible as she thought.
5-foot step and staying full defensive. I also moved Kel up to the blue guy. Fair assumption he's dead?
Kel Na' Yaa |
Yeah. I'm after the blue guy. :). Let's hope I make it through this one alive.
GM Tyranius |
Kel Na'Yaa charges forth and slides his dueling sword right into the creature's scaly hide and into it's heart.

Huzzah! This is soo exciting, Morrin, I knew you would an interesting chap. How do you project those objects with just your mind - and with such force!
Ev looks around the party, excitement and energy tingling through his body. When his eyes fall on Febida
Are you feeling ok? I know those skeletons clawed and burnt you pretty bad - but aren't we adventurers made of sterner stuff? I'd have thought a brave dwarf maiden like yourself would bounce back and be ready for action again?
Sensitive and understanding as ever, he then bounces right on.

Morrin shrugs as he looks at the wizard.
I've been able to move things since I was a child, and it has helped me quite a bit with keeping my inn clean. No need for ladders or stools to get to tough to reach places! As for our stoutfolk friend here, I am certain that it was more likely the smell that got to her! Blast, it stinks! I'm surprised you haven't keeled over, and cleared your stomach, wizard.
Morrin laughs, and looks about for another piece of rubble, a pebble, or something that could fit in his belt pouch of things to throw. when finished looking, the man heads towards the southern door.
