Ren, Freydis, and Cork, all see the swarm and decide it best to avoid if possible. Murdoth tosses a flask of acidic liquid as the mass of bats approaches, but it misses, hitting the wall instead. Zandu tries to use a piece of rubble to crush the bats and send them scattering, but has no more luck than the warpriest. The swarm of bats flies up to Murdoth and Remmy, and though the ratfolk strikes a few with his claws, they are both bit several times in return.

The Pathfinders decide that they are not well prepared to fight the swarming mass of bats, and retreat back through the secret door, which Freydis slams shut. Remmy stands in the room, hands on his knees, as he recovers from his short bout of nausea, though the wounds still continue to bleed.

So Remmy took 1 point of bleed damage on his turn, and will continue to bleed until healed. The nauseated condition was only for 1 round so that has ended.

"I agree with Renardagnan," Freydis pants after slamming the door shut. "If he is in there, he is dead. From the look of Remmy's bites, they are ravenously hungry."

Once the ratfolk's wounds are bandaged, Freydis speaks. "I do have a few ways to deal with the bats, but I have no guarantee that some of you won't be eaten in the process."

She pulls out a pungent smelling vial. When she opens the cork, the acrid scent is even stronger. She douses her armor with the repellent and rubs it onto her exposed skin.

"I would counsel continuing on up the stairs."

Vermin Repellent: 4 hour duration, DC 15 Fortitude for swarms to enter her square, and vermin will choose alternative targets if available before attacking her.

A side effect is that Remmy can track Freydis at a greater range.

Sorry for the delay, turned out to be a very busy weekend for me.

After some discussion, the decision is made to leave the bats alone for now and continue up the tower. The group proceeds up the stairs to another door, but this time it is unlocked. As soon as you open it you see crude bunks line the walls of this room, which is filled with the nauseating stench of troglodytes. You quickly realize why, as there are three more lizardmen, just like the others, resting on several of the beds.

"I know that smell!" Cork exclaims as soon as the door is open. He sees Remmy head towards one of the troglodytes and draws his cutlass. Once he is within arm's reach he swings at it.

Murdoth moves into the room and quickly cuts down one of the troglodytes before it's even able to stand up. Cork attempts to do the same, but trips on a loose floor board and buries his blade into the bed corner. As Freydis moves in and readies her spear, Remmy swipes a claw at one of the creatures but only gets air. As he sees his companion felled by Murdoth's blade, the lizardman with the blue pants makes a dash for the door and turns the knob, while the other swings its club at Remmy, though he easily dodges it.

I would take an Aoo but I think that the others probably finished off the poor blue trog. But just in case there is still some life in it I'll take a swing at it.

As the lizardman ran for the door, he managed to dodge a spearhead and a blade, but not a small rat claw. Despite bleeding profusely, he was just able to reach the door and open it, a moment before Murdoth cut him down with her blade. Zandu's coin strikes the other troglodyte right in the throat, leaving it gasping for air on the floor, as Renardagnan gasps for fresh air of his own. You now realize the reason behind the trog's sprint for the door, and a larger, more muscular lizardman steps through the door and swings his club at the first thing he sees.

Remmy takes a small step towards the new target, claws reaching to rip out his eyes and worse as his tail snaps through the air, the deadly blade flicking dangerously as he flanks his opponent.

Cork sees the new troglodyte step into the room and turns towards it. He reaches his left hand towards it and a ray of frost shoots towards it. Then he takes a quick step towards it and swings his cutlass.

Goblins|| ...||Heresy

A pillow flies across the room and smacks the troglodyte in the face with a surprising amount of force, cracking a few bones in the process. Renardagnan pokes him with his rapier, but the stench distracts him from putting any muscle behind the blow. Murdoth comes through yet again though, slaying another lizardman with a powerful slice from her blade.

Out of combat!

A brazier of glowing coals sits in the center of the room that the larger troglodyte came from, its acrid smoke mixing with the ever-present troglodyte stench. A few knives, pokers, and other metal implements lie atop a rusty iron box nearby.

Upon searching the bodies, you find nothing of interest on the three young troglodytes, or in the bunk room. On the much bigger one, you find a canteen etched with his name, Tulok, as well as a key ring. One of these keys opens the iron box in the room that holds a suit of masterwork studded leather armor, a masterwork buckler, a masterwork rapier, a shortbow with 15 arrows, a scroll of cure moderate wounds, a scroll of invisibility, a wayfinder, and a climber's kit.

You hear a muffled noise coming from the room to the northeast, but find the door locked. It's quickly unlocked by one of the keys though, and you find a closet sized room with a man huddled in the corner.

He holds his arm up as his eyes adjust to the light. "P-p-please enough. Let me go. I won't say a word, I swear!" His face slowly changes from fear to elation as he realizes you are not his captors. "Did the Society send you? Bah, that doesn't matter, just please release me. Have you any food or water? I have barely had anything in days. They talked of sacrificing me to some god of theirs and you got here just in time."

He pats him gently on the back and tries not to sniff rudely at the smell.

The s-society r-requested we l-look for you, yes. We are h-h-happy to find you alive and m-mostly well, or at l-least intact.

Freydis kneels down and frees the man from his bonds. "You're safe now. The way down the stairs is clear, but you'll need to climb the last bit. Can you do that?"

"Well met." Cork says and he reaches his hand down to help the man up. "My name is Cork. We are planning to go up to the upper level before we head back to town. You are welcome to follow us up or wait here until we come back down. Or, as Freydis suggested, you can leave on your own."

Cork arches an eyebrow at the man while waiting for a response.
