Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Vojtek takes the full brunt of the freezing mist, though slightly muted (resist cold 2, via Northern ancestry trait)! The ice clings to his lashes and his breath steams in staccato bursts as he sends another feathered shaft into the hide of Red! (Vojtek also gets a second shot at -5 if desired.)

Blue continues to shove the tower...
Aqua DC 27 vs grapple: 1d20 ⇒ 3 nope
...but Aqua is no help, as they remain held fast!

Kappi: I'll take a Perception check now that you're near the siege tower.

Round3

Ed spies a drift of snow coming off the wall, his vision is filled with another bowelf jumping and riding a shield sled while still having his arrows aim true. Ed summons his Apsu given spirit for some extra healing. Ed lets a shot fly while doing his daring maneuver. More to have the drake duck than to actually hit it.

Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 Hopefully enough to negate the falling damage

Channel Energy with Agathion should hit Davosh, Ed, Ali, and Vojtek: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15 +2 for Ed

Lay on Hands self: 2d6 + 2d6 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + (6, 6) + 4 + 6 = 29

Recap: Ali, Davosh, Vojtek heal 20hp each, I don't think Kappi needs any HP. Ed Take 15 hp, Heal 46. 64/88

Round 3 for Vojtek's second arrow

Composite Longbow of the Centaur +5: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27 damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Vojtek's follow-up hits Red as well!

Acrobatics DC is 15 to ignore the first 10 feet of falling damage, so that's a success. Parapet is 25 feet, so 15 (rounded to 20) falling...

falling: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
That puts Edward at a total of -30 (58/88).

Kappi: I'll take a Perception check now that you're near the siege tower.

    DC 22 Will: 1d20 ⇒ 14
The drake very nearly shakes it off, but Davosh hears a soft yip from Liska and feels the hex take hold!

    Kappi:
Even with the driving snow, Kappi's sharp eyes note that the outer frame of the tower is covered with sodden animal pelts, which helps to explain why the Warlock's fireball didn't ignite it.

Kappi also sees that it glides across the snow-covered terrain on sled runners, well-protected by the frame around them, and spies a single door facing the hydras. He might be able to climb the side and sneak past them to get inside...

The lad looks about the murky interior, then cracks a sunrod and studies what he can see in its glow. The whole tower glides along on a quartet of sled platforms and looks fairly well constructed. Still, with a closer look, he might be able to do some damage...

Vojtek: FYI, Kappi is inside the tower construction and not visible to the party at this time. It will cost a move action to stow the blade and another to pick up the bow, so Vojtek would have a swift action, if applicable, and/or a free action at his disposal.

  • Davosh flies over as quickly as he can while the tentacles continue to grasp and squeeze:

He then turns his Big Eye towards the closer beast Targeting whatever roll CMB counts as! DC is 22

minutiae that matters only to the GM (and anyone else who wants their head to hurt):

After digging into the Evil Eye hex and into the combat maneuver rules and then into what exactly is a "check" and then into what constitutes an ability check versus a skill check and THEN into how does one classify a CMB/CMD check, I ultimately decided that the hex would affect the CMB roll if I count it as an ability check, which it (probably) is since it involves an ability modifier and not a skill modifier, but it's not clear that's what it is because Paizo has never clarified what constitutes an ability check versus a skill check, possibly assuming it to be self-evident when it's anything but, as the terms are never defined.

    Round 5

Ed's respect and awe for Davosh's abilities continue to grow. He moves to take a better line of sight on the hydra's. He thinks a bit to remember any lore of a creature like this. Davosh what can you tell us about these many headed beasts? His bow thrums sending an arrow towards the closest one (light blue)

    Knowledge nature??: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 Most of my knowledge skills are +6. This is for info about the cryohydra's

    Longbow: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
    Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Ali and Vojtek heal 5hp each, Edward take 10hp, heal 1. Current HP 74/88

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

    Edward:
Edward believes these to be cryohydras, magical beasts not unlike those seen on Golarion. Cryohydras have the Cold subtype, and like the hydras of legend, the cryohydra has hydra traits.
    Hydra Traits (Ex) wrote:
A hydra can be killed by severing all of its heads or slaying its body. Any attack that is not an attempt to sever a head affects the body, including area attacks or attacks that cause piercing or bludgeoning damage. To sever a head, an opponent must make a sunder attempt with a slashing weapon targeting a head. A head is considered a separate weapon with hardness 0 and hit points equal to the hydra’s HD. To sever a head, an opponent must inflict enough damage to reduce the head’s hit points to 0 or less. Severing a head deals damage to the hydra’s body equal to the hydra’s current HD. A hydra can’t attack with a severed head, but takes no other penalties.

Distracted by what he recalls of the beast, Edward's arrow narrowly misses!

    • Unable to move his pog

Vojtek continues sprinting towards the seige tower, brandishing his sword above his head and screaming aggressively. He enters the tower and starts looking for something to attack.

Could someone please move my pog?

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Moved Vojtek. One move at 40 feet gets him adjacent to the tower. However, he does not see an entrance on this side. In fact, the only way in appears to be at the back, close to the hydras.

Vojtek has a standard action remaining, and can close with the hydras if desired. Not enough actions to attack, though.

Kappi, sweat dripping down the side of his face despite the chill temperature, works feverishy, prying at one of the remaining supports, rationalizing that maybe might do it. Just a little more...

    SNAP!

The tower slams to the snow, creaking in its distress and tipping precariously backwards...and Kappi remembers, at that moment, he's stuck inside.

    Uh-oh.

Desperately he looks to the shut door behind him, then frantically about the tower, as the structure begins to screech and splinter, bits of wood and pitch and fur flying about him. His eyes are drawn to the broken supports now exposed to the air and...

    DC 25 Ref: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25 haha, that's AWESOME

...he tumbles through the opening, the tower flopping over onto a pair of very surprised cryohydras, then continuing to roll toward the hill. Too late, the serpent beasts realize they are still tethered and are dragged all at once with the crumbling structure, right off the side of the cliff!

    Encounter over!

Victory points awarded: 10, plus 1 for the method of victory and plus an additional 1 for Kappi making it out unscathed. Current total: 14

    The party has rounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 before the next scene.

We will pause here while Davosh's player enjoys much warmer climes for a bit, and resume upon his word that he has returned (without malaria, etc.) and is ready to go. Any between-encounter actions can be posted as desired.

    Post fight recovery

Ed's healing continues to flow. I still hear battle so this needs to be quick. Can we practice good discipline and not stay grouped up. It seems that every fight we have been in recently there is an area attack that injures most of us, except for Kappi. Lad ya have to tell me how you avoid breath of a dragon sometime.

    Selective Channel Energy 2d6w/Agathion: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11 +2 for Ed

    Wand of CLW on Ed: 4d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 2) + 4 = 16

So this should bring Ali, Davosh, Kapi, Up to full. Vojtek will have 4hp missing. Ed takes 25 HP, Heals 13+16+5=34 Current HP 83/88

Ed does see a small trinket from the battle. He picks it up thinking that Nevra may appreciate it.
