Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Commander Pharmol turns to Jarilne. Jarilne, of the Spurhorn Council, leader of the Ice Seers: what is your counsel on this?

The blind Triaxian does not speak, but merely nods.

Davosh sits on the ground, resting on one foot with his leg bent beneath him while Liska sits primly on the Warlock's other knee. All is silent a few moments, but then Davosh's eyes snap open, focused on Liska, who seems...bigger, somehow?

Liska speaks, suddenly, in an ephemeral, disjointed voice.

Vojtek ponders the strange reverie in which he finds himself slowly emerging. He feels rested, refreshed even. He looks around to get his bearings and squint his eyes with furrowed brow to clear the momentary confusion from his hazy thoughts. Where is he? What is he doing? He looks to his companions and it starts to come back to him...

You know the assault is coming, though you don't know exactly when. You have an idea from where it will come, though you don't know the sequence of it. At this point you're waiting.

Commander Pharmol looks deep in thought with his hands clasped behind his back, while Thronull stands to the side, silent but shaking with anger. Sumira studies the map and absently stokes the neck of her partner Callissus.

It is Jarilne who breaks the silence. We know more than we did, she says, and so may we act on that knowledge.

Commander Pharmol whips his head around. I have made my decision. Do you have a problem with your orders, Captain?

Thronull stops at once, swallowing hard. A heartbeat later, he replies, No, Commander. He is clearly still furious, but has remembered his rank.

Commander Pharmol glares at Thronull a moment longer, then gives Thronull a small smile and a nod before turning back to the party. We can use all the help you can muster, Golarions. Stand ready to deploy when the assault arrives. He pauses, then: And do not give me cause to regret this decision. On your leave.

Liska sleeps about an hour, but then she's as spry and inquisitive as ever.

Left to yourselves, you retire to the guest chamber, no less dusty or rarely used but also no longer under guard. Ali meditates a bit, while Edward catches twenty winks and Vojtek and Kappi play some Three Dragon Monty at the table. Davosh does...well, whatever Davosh does. Some food is brought, steaming bowls of a lovely porridge-like substance that is really quite flavorful, and a bright purple drink that is cool on the tongue but feels warm in the belly.

It is several hours, well into the night, nearly dawn, when the low sounding of a horn awakens you.

    To arms! To arms!

    The assault has begun!

Five-star Hound of Tindalos. Er, GM. Whatever. | RoW Encounter Map | A Fistful of Flowers slides

Battle scenes are divided into separate events; success earns victory points, which will keep track of the defense. Each event is disticnt and will have a separate initiative roll. Time in between will be limited — less than a minute, unless otherwise noted — and you won't know how many events you'll face, so resource management is part of the challenge.

You receive a short message that whispers like the wind. Golarions! To the parapets! Go!

Commander Pharmol does not specify which, but as you hurry outside in the morning glow, you see easily enough, even through the driving snow: a whole legion of frost drakes has descended on what, at home, you might call the northwest corner. You hurry that direction, stumbling across the courtyard being buffeted by snow and wind gusts, but just as you arrive at the base, you see one large drake swoop in and breath a mist of freezing air! Nearly a dozen voices cry out in pain, but soon fall silent! Dropping from the beast's back, a pair of hulking brutes, massive swords in hand, land on the turret roof, while the drake perches on the side, shrieking into the blizzard gale!

    Ali:
Ali knows this to be a frost drake. Like most dragons, it has an immunity to paralysis and sleep, but as the name "frost" might suggest, it also is immune to cold. This does make it particularly vulnerable to fire, however.

    Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
    1d6 ⇒ 1

The drake spots the party, and recognizes a threat when it sees one, taking to the air with amazing speed and releasing another cloud of freezing mist, enveloping the Golarions!

point of order/question (anyone can read):
TS, Ali has a minor rod of quickening. I read through a lot of the thread, but hadn't reached the point were this was found, so i don't recall a ruling on whether Ali can, say, have this tucked into her belt & use it like that. It matters here...so is this possible?

2 corrections: I typed Heal 19HP it was supposed to be 17 (but the math was correct). Also, as per slack convo Kappi didn't take any damage. +10 hp so Ed's current HP is 77/88

Seeing the situation become a little hairy right away, Ali chuffs out a small breath of frustration. She'll trust Kappi to be where he needs to be, and focuses on the two warriors in front of her.

The elf reaches to her belt, touches the powerful Rod tucked there, and utters a single word of power which is actually an entire spell, spoken all at once, the words simply piled together into a single utterance. With a shimmer several duplicates of her pop into existence. She casts another spell, slapping her hand on the crosspiece of her weapon to electrify it, and finally she strikes.
