The woman rolls up to her knees, favoring her left leg. "I am Umut, the priestess who performed the funeral..." She says to Onix with a hint of indignance. Looking at Peperic, she shrugs. "I do not know for sure, but it seemed like after I placed a ring. Do you remember who offered a ring for a gift?" She says as she gingerly stands and leans on the crypt door frame.
| GM Tektite |
As Rani and Kelevan begin to quetions Umut, her expressions changes from pained to a sneer. She puts a hand to her necklace and the party feels a wave of unholy energy wash over them. "Fools, suffer the wrath of my goddess!" She takes a step toward the crypt and yells in the door. "To my aid!"
Moments after calling for aid, a skeleton, blood dripping from its bones, and the ring the party gifted, on its it hand, exits the crypt and moves toward the party!

Kelevan purses his lips and steps back, calling upon his people's inner strength to craft the local magics into a pool of dark, slippery liquid under the enemies' feet. Cast grease (Reflex DC 14, lasts three minutes). I went ahead and drew it on the map. First level 1 spell today.

But 5-foot steps can't be used anywhere your movement is hampered, not just in difficult terrain, no?
I may very well be wrong, this is what I read;
You can only take a 5-foot-step if your movement isn't hampered by difficult terrain or darkness. Any creature with a speed of 5 feet or less can't take a 5-foot step, since moving even 5 feet requires a move action for such a slow creature.
Anyone want to chime in with opinions? I'm more than happy to be wrong.
Kelevan Nolorianoth
|
Hmm, that seems clear enough. I coulda sworn there's somewhere that says if your movement is halved you also can't take a 5' step, but I can't find it right now so let's just forget I said anything. :)
Rani of Botosani
|
It's one of those corner cases. Nowhere in the Grease spell does it say that it creates difficult terrain. It should, but it doesn't. It creates a new category called: "A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check". It really confuses things.

It specifically says "difficult terrain or darkness", and because it is a poorly worded spell, grease creates neither.

Kelevan growls in frustration as the combat seems to turn against the group. Glancing around and trying to determine how he can be most useful, he decides that he's already doing the best thing he can be by trying to take down the undead monstrosity. Keeping his hand up, he focuses the beam once more. The skeleton doesn't seem to have moved on the map... if it has cover, I'm going to do something else.
