I made a first-generation Warpriest and played it twice, then scrapped it for a Fighter 1/Cleric x. I haven't played the second-generation but I hear from others that the very issues I found with the initial class were largely addressed in the overhaul.
I have an Arcanist 3 in Society now and I rather like him. I'm not a Wizard player to speak of, and generally prefer spontaneous casters cos I find preparing spells to be a chore (read as: I'm essentially a lazy player). JMSO, the Arcanist gives me much of the flexibility of a Wizard with much of the hassle factor or a Sorcerer. The exploits are okay, though very uneven, with some clear "gotta have it"s and a bunch of "meh"; I'm hoping those get ironed out in the actual release.
Rey is my first dabble of any sort into Gunslinger class features. That's part of why I'm playing him — to see how the deeds fueled by panache/grit play.

Hunter is seeming alright. It may have nerfed the ranger aspect a little too much, but workable. I think I prefer straight ranger with the boon companion feat at this point. Though I could have probably put more points into Wisdom for a couple more spells here and there. (Also, not being a caster player, I suck as preparing spells. Probably because I typically only use CRB stuff for that. Don't have Ultimate Magic or any fun splat books for that.)

With the month I should have plenty of time to craft any scrolls/wondrous items we want.
Considering we can effectivly get half off things in the auction pool we might want to save some money for that.
Lia the Huntress |
Was there even anything we would want in the auction?
As for spells, after last time I'm thinking lesser restoration and maybe some remove poison. Thoughts?
Reynaldo Li |
I think lesser restoration is a fine idea. Ability damage sucks. :-)
Hadn't thought about crafting — obvious how often I play non-PFS casters, huh? — but Rey certainly wouldn't say no to, say, feather step slippers or boots of striding and springing.
Alternatively, he would love to make his cold iron gladius magic, and maybe get another gladius made of mithral...

Just a heads up. I will be leaving Sat. morning for a family vacation to Disney, returning on the following Sat.. I am going to try to take my laptop in order to update in the evenings, but so far, traveling with three kids looks like it is putting a premium on space. I can update from my mobile, but would be unable to see or edit maps.
Reynaldo Li |
Real Life Comes First [tm], amigo. Enjoy your trip, and if you can't bring the laptop or (quite possibly more likely) don't have time to update, that's just the way it goes, you know?
My wife's got a work convention in Orlando this October, and we're hoping to bring her kids down. Youngest will be 13, but there's something about WDW that makes you regress to age eight just by walking through the gates. :-D
Lia the Huntress |
As long as those Princesses are Leia and (grudgingly) Amidala... even though the former wasn't really royalty and the latter was a queen as opposed to a princess... and also elected... shutting up.
GM Tektite |
Hey everyone! Just checking in, to let you know that I am checking threads, but was not able to bring my laptop along. It would not have mattered really, as we are on the go from early morning to late evening. I will be able to resume regular posting Sat. eve. Sorry for the delay.
Above was just my copy/paste I had worked up on my mobile. To answer your question Rob, I think it is likely we can be finished before GenCon. I think I told you, starting last week, I will be at home all the time, so I will be able to move us along much faster. After this section, we have essentially three "complexes" to go through. Two being fairly short and one fairly long.
Mr. Hammerfist |
Driving to LA for the weekend and then Monday is my Birthday. I'll try and check in over the weekend but nothing to long from me till Tuesday.
Reynaldo Li |
Heads up, y'all: flying out tomorrow to visit dear friends in Oregon, then it's on to Seattle for PaizoCon goodness. Though I may get the chance to check in periodically along the way, I may not. I'll be back for reals next Tuesday evening.
Reynaldo Li |
I'm back, though facing some serious convention fatigue and not looking forward to work tomorrow at all. LOL
In the process of catching up. Hopefully by tomorrow.
Lia the Huntress |
Wanting to let everyone be informed that I may not be posting much for the next couple of days. My wife and I are bringing another little gamer into the world, so while the hospital does (likely) have WiFi, obviously I ma be a little distracted. Will try to keep up posting from mobile as best I can.
Reynaldo Li |
If any of you are going to GenCon and playing in Bonekeep3, I'm looking for a few more doomed souls to join me.
No GenCon for me, alas, for a few more years. Kill some PCs for me! :-)
GM Tektite |
Here are the chronicle sheets for this. There's no real chance of us finishing by GenCon, but I'm also confident that we will finish this (I know no one will disappear), so if you want/need them here they are.
I did it with my first group as well, due to the length of time, some of them needed them before we were finished. We just finished, so in the end it wasn't a big deal for them to get the sheets about a month early.
Either way, here they are if you want them now. (Campaign mode in PbP is a little tougher than even AP, because at least with APs, your getting a chronicle every time you finish a book, or there abouts.)
Lia the Huntress |
Number 4 gives 3 exp as well? Shiny!
One thing:
I do have a day job. Is that per sheet or once for the whole thing?
Profession 1 (or overall): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Profession 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Profession 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Profession 4?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
GM Tektite |
You know, I'd wondered about that, but came to the conclusion that since it is run in campaign mode, you don't do Day Jobs, vs Module mode, where you'd roll Day Jobs, but not get the fourth chronicle. Same as not rolling Day Jobs in APs.
That was what I cam up with any way. I could be totally off the mark.

Sounds right to me — that's what we've done with APs in campaign mode.
Lia the Huntress |
Sounds good. Figured I'd ask. Now if only I could have used that 20 in another game... Though I may have just killed the thing in EotT with one ;-)
Reynaldo Li |
Dude, there is something wrong with the dice bot. In another PbP, we've had three nat 20's in a row, and now we have two in a row here. Call me kooky, but over the past year or so, I've noticed that there will be an abundance of nat 20's across my games for a about a week, then rarely any twentys for about a month or two....dang pseudo-random algorithms....
I'd like to think that's the case and that it's not just that I make awful characters... LOL
Reynaldo Li |
FYI: in Madison at Geek.Kon this weekend, and probably won't be back until Sunday evening.
Reynaldo Li |
Tek, are you okay with us using the retraining rules? The subtle changes in the ACG combined with the transformative weapon find probably necessitate it for Reynaldo.
Also need a GP total since the cloak crafting to know what he has for retraining, for potential commissions from Hammer, and wine/women/song.
Reynaldo Li |
About equal parts "crap on a stick, I've been doing that wrong," and "spiffy new feat to do what I've already been doing (incorrectly)" along with a nice dose of transformative only working on one-handed melee weapons, which the gladius is not (it's light, like a short sword).
So to use the dragonbane sword (drool), Precise Strike would have to swap to Power Attack; 14 STR/16 DEX to 16 STR/14 DEX; WF (Shortsword) to something else (probably scimitar...maybe longsword); and Step Up to Slashing Grace.
Or you could houserule something. That's up to you.
Lia the Huntress |
Completed level and update. Only real changes were HOW I get Precise Shot, number of ranks per level, the fact that I can give Lao an animal aspect for free (unlimited duration), and the transition to a spontaneous caster, which would have been REAL handy against that wraith! Just more fire! Ah well.
Ares Aeroflot |
Just tossing out some ideas here...not sure which item is worth more. I think we established Ares was maybe the only one to use the heavy armor (not his ideal...but works). Ares is happy with any of the items.
Reynaldo - Sword
Lia - Bow
Hammer - +3 armor
Ares - arrows and slippers and full plate armor from prior
I lost track of what else we have.
Mr. Hammerfist |
I was thinking of dropping my armor and casting more spells, that +3 armor is hard to pass up though, if somebody else wants it though they are more than welcome to it.
