Silas, Frightened reduces the attack bonus, but not damage.
Tilver, you have no idea what that thing is! Some horror out of the depths of time? A cruel victim of the Skull-King’s laboratories? Or something twisted by the very banes around you, perhaps.

Dain rushes in and summons spirits of the city to infuse Tung with power. Unseen to all but the oracle, they knit back together bone and sinew and the Knight of the Pale starts to rise again. Tilver tries to help, but can’t stop the bleeding. Silas roars in anger and hacks at the lion-hawk, drawing blood from its haunches.

The red giant pulls back its bow and fires into the crowd, but its aim is thrown off by the presence of its allies!

Then, the octopus-headed creature holds up a handful of black spheres and with a gesture, hurls them at Silas. They hit the litorian hard. It then gestures and erects a wall of pure mental power around it.

Tung scrambles along the floor until he's next to Skarvek. Still lying down, he pulls a potion from his bandolier and chugs it still on the floor.

Edit: Looked at the map again and realized I couldn't touch Silas from where I'm standing. So Shield got swapped for a move.

Isabel takes a step forward and then reaches out and slaps Silas lightly on the arm. "Go get them." She mutters as she casts Haste on him.

Magic empowers the target to act faster. It gains the quickened condition and can use the extra action each round only for Strike and Stride actions for one Minute.

The thrum of his bow string and slap of his arrow playing counterpoint to his singing, arrows seeking homes in his foes.

Can I get a clear view of the giant in the back to make shots?


Clear view? No. He will have Minor Cover (+1 AC). But clear enough to shoot? Yes.

Apparently I forgot Weapon Spec damage last time. Having to get used to a monk having that baked in. If I am reading this map right he is at the thirty foot mark and not within it. If I have miscounted my squares please deduct two to hit on each of these.

You were 25' away, so you invoke the volley penalty. But it doesn't matter as neither of those shots would have hit in any case.

As Tung crawls away to drink a healing potion, Skarvek covers his reatreat by firing a pair of quick snapshots that ring harmlessly off of the strange apparatus in the far room.

Isabel rushes in and with a light touch on Silas's furry shoulder, fills the litorian's already taut nerves with a fiery vigor!

Dain moves into the room to further shield Tung.

In their strange language, Dain calls for restless spirits to manifest as a weapon against the strange minions of the Pactlords. He points, and a short blade - glowing with a reddish hue - appears in mid air and strikes at the tentacled creature.

Tilver steps up beside Silas, not wanting the monsters to be able to advance past them. He tries to look for an opening against the weird Illithid. He can't see much for his sword, so the ex-gladiator tries to kick at the creature's knees, hoping they even work like human knees.

I feel for you on the stratagem rolls, Tim. My Inspiring Marshall has yet to roll above the required "6" on Inspiring Marshall Stance.

The way I see it, you can't keep trying to use Recall Knowledge to learn something new, but you can keep trying to formulate a stratagem.

But...what? The illithid is way in the back, nowhere near you. Up front by you are the spider-humanoid and the lion-hawk (ettercap and hieracosphinx). I assume your attack is on the ettercap.

Dain's spirits hurl a magical force shaped vaguely like a glowing sword, towards the illithid [u]in the far parts of the room[/u] and slice it across the arm!

Tilver steps up and easily trips the ungainly spider-creature, which plopse heavily onto its back.

Silas slashes twice at the heiracosphinx in front of him before roaring like the dragons whose blood flows through him. A burst of cold shoots out in a cone striking the heiracosphinx, ettercap and ogre mage.

Strike, Strike, Dragon Breathe x2. I should be able to hit the ettercap, heiracosphinx and ogre mage in a 30 ft cone. Basic Reflex Save DC 22 (this includes the penalty for frightened 1).

Also, I have Resistance 6 against Cold and Piercing damage if that comes up. The fun of playing online is I almost always remember something new when I look at my sheet again. :P

Silas attacks, slashing with his big sword and breathing out his ancestral dragon's breath. The red giant dives aside and is barely damaged. The spider-creature tries and fails to seek cover on the floor and is badly frozen. The lion-hawk tries to turn away, but the dragon's breath is too much for it, and it stops, eyes wide, then collapses to the floor.

Snarling, the giant steps up and, waving its hands in a complex gesture, returns the favor! The poor spider-creatures is simply obliterated in the blast.

Cone of Cold (basic Reflex save DC 24): 12d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 3, 3, 5, 6, 3, 1, 3, 1, 6) = 40

The octopus-headed creature gestures with both arms and tentacles and you feel a stabbing pain in your minds!

Psionic Blast (Will save DC 26): 6d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 3, 3, 1) = 22 Mental damage, plus if you fail the Will save, you are Stunned for 1 round. If you critically fail, you are stunned for 1 minute.

Dain, Tilver, Silas and Isabel, give me saves against the Cone of Cold. Everyone except Isabel, give me saves against the Psionic Blast!

You lose all actions for that duration. So you're just out of it, but technically just as hard to hit. You get to make saves too.

From looking at the Stunned condition in the SRD you get a certain number of actions, 30 in this case, that are just burned doing nothing. I am not sure if Hasting you would reduce the time that you were out. But it takes you out of the fight.

The last two sentences of the first paragraph detail time-based duration. It's not Stunned 30, which Haste would help with, it's Stunned for 1 minute. "In this case, you lose all your actions for the listed duration." So Haste would just be a waste.


Tilver is correct. Dain, do you want to Hero Point that?

Silas, you also may want to consider a Hero Point reroll. You critically failed your roll against Cone of Cold, which means you'll take 74 points of damage after your resistance. Then, you failed the roll against the Psionic Blast, meaning you'll take a further 22. You'll have 13 hp left.

Critical Success The target is unaffected.
Success The target is stunned 1.
Failure The target is paralyzed for 1 round.
Critical Failure The target is paralyzed for 4 rounds. At the end of each of its turns, it can attempt a new Will save to reduce the remaining duration by 1 round, or end it entirely on a critical success.

Bellowing in anger, the red giant swings his mighty blade at Tung and Tilver, but both blows are deflected and he steps back.
