Alister's shout frightens one of the soul eaters!

Sadly, the semi-corporeal soul eaters are immune to critical hits. They are also highly immune to physical damage.

With soul-piercing screams, the alien entities attack, tearing into poor Kern and injuring Mikhail.

That door is unremarkable. On opening it you find a short corridor and another door, also unremarkable save for its size - built for cyclopes.

Even with the cyclops sized corridor, Kern feels the pressure of the enclosed space and switches from Skybolt to his Elven Blade.
He then checks the door ahead before opening it.

Piotr continues to check for magical auras as he and his companions explore the halls.


Opening the door reveals a small (for cyclopes) room. The walls of this chamber are covered in lime plaster and bear a series of frescoes whose colors are still vibrant. This artwork depicts one-eyed humanoids rendered in the same sway-backed style.

The room feels as though it had some ceremonial or processional function. Like an anteroom. There is a single door on the far side.

"Must be a special purpose room next. Let's see what's inside." Alister enters the chamber and looks around for any items of note while the others prepare to open the inner door.

Kern opens the door that remains unexplored in the room.


I'm pretty sure that the author and map-maker didn't get together here, and that the door in this room was intended as a secret door. Anyway, it isn't. It's just weirdly placed behind a statue.

A stone bench sits at shoulder height against the far wall of this chamber. Upon this bench lie a number of stone vessels and bronze tools. A man-sized statue of a sway-backed humanoid, a hand is clamped over its single eye, stands against the north wall.

Alister enters the room, taking note of the statue. He looks for any inscription on it. "A small statue for most cyclops."

The statue, possibly some sort of cyclops deity, is unremarkable save for its antiquity. Alister can see that the door has an excellent lock on it.

Kern opens the door behind the oddly placed statue.

They didn't do a good job hiding this one... he thinks to himself.


The door opens onto a narrow chamber. This chamber is empty. Its walls bear eye-shaped patterns and carvings, all of which seem to be looking at a point on the east wall where a single carving of a giant, stylized eye looms. The eye’s pupil is an intricately engraved relief roughly the size of the palm of a human hand.

Mikhail peeks in the room around Kern and Alister and sees the giant eye. "Nothing ominous about one giant eye carving. I wonder if it was based on a specific cyclopes eye or if it was maybe religious in its undertaking."

Mikhail doesn't recognize any religious purpose for the carvings. And Aristu's covering of the eye produces no effects.
