You cannot crit an incorporeal creature unless your weapon is ghost touch...

Nilus charges forward getting much closer to the creature.

Also, Ayesha you might wanna 5/ step away before casting that spell or you'll take an AOO

.

You're right, Dejik does not get haste. As for Sarkast hauling Dejik up... yeah. CMB check to add to her climb. Rolling for Sarkast to keep things moving.

Nilus rushes in on the shadow demon while Ayesha slashes out at the demon. Despite the goodly energy flowing through the weapon, it does not manage to damage the shadow demon.

After her attack, Ayesha realizes that this shadow demon is no ordinary shadow demon and is possessed of great mythic power, which may complicate its damage resistance.

Sarkast's CMB: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Sarkast yanks on the rope with all of his might just as Dejik finds a foot hold. She leaps into the air as he bolts forwards, and between the two of them he pulls Dejik entirely onto the ground!

The shadow demon snarls at Ayesha, leaping onto the elf and clawing into her viciously. Thankfully, her protective spells at the hand of Dejik keep her resistant to the cold.

Round Three:

Eustoyriax

Sarkast
Nilus
Ayesha (30 damage)
Dejik (21 damage)

Ayesha takes 30 damage. Thanks to Sarkast's 20, Dejik and Sarkast are standing and ready to go! Sarkast, move yourself 30' as a part of the rope-pulling.

Male Kellid Rogue (Unch) 11 / Urban Bloodrager 1 / Trickster 5| AC 29(32 w/Cmb Exp) T 18 F 22 | HP 122/122 | F +7 R +14 W +5 | Init +11 | Perc +21

With a prayer to Desna, Sarkast starts running. When he feels the rope go slack he stops, thinking Dejik has lost her grip, but when he turns back he sees her landing on her feet.

With a smile he runs back to retrieve his dropped weapons, then in a blinding flash he darts back into the room, coming up behind the demon.

Move action to move back to where the magic dagger was dropped, standard to pick it up. Mythic point for Fleet Charge to move and attack, with +2 bonus and bypassing all DR. Draw a non-magical dagger in the off hand while moving.

"Nilus, grab the banner just in case we have to retreat! I think this one is the real thing."

Kicking his dagger into his hand, Sarkast races across the room, lunging out at the shadow demon. However, his dagger just passes straight through.

Also, forgot to include in my post, Dejik had cast Mythic Protection from Evil on Sarkast before she got posessed. That's +4 deflection bonus to AC and a +4 resistance bonus to saves against evil things.

.

You burst into action as Dejik heals the group, and Ayesha, Sarkast, and Nilus all attack the demon, unfortunately to little effect. One swing of Nilus' manages to connect, but is unable to overcome the resistances of the demon. The banner on the altar continues to glow with powerful evocation and abjuration to Ayesha.

Nilus gets an attack of opportunity. Everyone must make a DC 22 will save. If you fail, then make a DC 20 fort save. If you fail both saves, you are subject to a stinking cloud spell and nauseated.

If you pass the will save:

Fort save: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31

Dejik is fooled by the illusion, but her strong constitution allows her to overcome the cloud's effect.

Realizing that no one can see through the cloud, Dejik summons a wind to clear a path for her friends, then moves out the cloud, careful to keep it between her and the demon's line of sight.

This is going to be a bit tricky, so I'm not sure if you'll allow it. Dejik Inspired Spell to cast Wind Wall, making the wall run down towards the altar and then back out (see the lines on the map). Since gases can't pass through the wall, I'm hoping that it will essentially cut a channel through the bottom of the cloud (the wall is only 5 feet high) and provide some safe squares where people can breathe.

If we're really lucky, the cloud will give us cover from the demon while people move around. (The wall lasts 1 round per level, so we might be able to use the cover to regroup or decide what to do.

.

I calculated things wrong - Nilus does do damage although not much. You're dealing with DR/epic (the knowledge check was high enough to catch that) and incorporeal, so there's a lot of reductions to deal with. If someone's weapon qualifies for epic (total +6 worth of enhancements) lemme know.

Nilus barely, barely misses as the demon flies off while the cloud envelops everyone. Sarkast is overcome by the fumes while Dejik and Nilus manage to resist the spell.

I couldn't tell whether you'd successfully grabbed it--if Nilus has it, Dejik will channel to harm. If Nilus doesn't have it yet, she'll help him get it.

If Dejik channels to harm:

.

Although it seems to take a moment, after Nilus grabs the banner it suddenly unfurls in his hands. A bright light shines from it throughout the room and the shadow demon shrieks, covering its eyes. Before you, the shadow demon seems to diminish slightly as a true paladin touches the banner for the first time in many years.

Nilus, you are immediately aware of the powers of the Sword of Valor. An army who carries the Sword of Valor gains a 4 increase to its DV and OM against evil outsiders or undead. When mounted in a visibly, it creates a 10-mile-radius area that bars demons and those who worship demons from using teleportation, and imparts a -4 penalty to AC and saving throws.

Once per month, with the banner mounted, a worshipper of Iomedae can summon a planetar for one day.

Despite the banner not being mounted, by picking it up you impart a -4 AC and save penalty to Eustoyriax, and he is now corporeal!

Eustoyriax is now corporeal! Dejik, you get a second will save, andif you fail that, a second fort save as you are still in the stinking cloud and have not disbelieved the illusion. 1d5 ⇒ 4 Nilus remains unaffected. Sarkast is nauseated and will remain so if he stays in the cloud (he has a move action). Everyone still has an action!

Sar your post on the OOC thread. I'm thinking that you may have missed a couple of things in the rapid exchange we had:

GAH. Okay, thanks for your patience. I've parsed everything out here, I've also carved a line through the stinking cloud according to Dejik's wind wall. Sarkast, if you've moved out of the cloud, please relocate your token.

Round three
- The demon attacks Ayesha
- Nilus, Sarkast, and Ayesha attack the demon
- Dejik channels energy

Round four
- The demon casts stinking cloud
- Dejik casts wind wall
- Nilus attacks the demon, and grabs the sword of valor
- Ayesha attacks the demon
- Sarkast is nauseated (has a move action)

Round Five
- The demon attacks Ayesha

We are now on round five of combat, and everyone has an action. Dejik couldn't pick up the banner since Nilus already has it. Sarkast has two move actions he can take (including round four), and Ayesha is grappled.

Full attack while grappled, don't forget demon has the grappled condition also for AC purposes. Oh RNG, you didn't fail me, thank you.

Thanks to the speed and grace of her weapon, Ayesha maneuvers in the demon's claws and lays into it, slashing again and again and again doing terrific damage. However, it simply snarls and responds in kind. Ayesha goes limp in its claws from the fury of the attack, and it tosses her aside.

Attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24 Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Round Five:

Eustoyriax (60 dmg)

Sarkast
Nilus
Ayesha (68 damage) (disabled)
Dejik

Ayesha takes 39 damage and is disabled! Ayesha - your hp tracker says 64/68 but I'm going by Dejik's hp total since you took major damage last round, and she's done hp transfer since then. Sarkast is no longer nauseated! Everyone is up!

Oops, I forgot to update my hp total in thta last status block. Dejik's numbers are correct...were correct. Well, at least I got some damage in.

Question, did both crits confirm?

Nilus' Consumables Nilus' New Friends Paladin 7 Sentinel 5/MT 5 Guardian | AC 27 T 16 F 26 DR 5/EPIC | HP 166 | F +18 R +13 W +17 | Init +8 | Perc +13

Nilus, with a glowing Radiance flashing, attacks the Demon witha newfound determination after Ayesha is tossed aside.

For the Rose!!!!! he shouts

Radiance1: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (12) + 22 = 34 Damage: 1d10 + 24 ⇒ (1) + 24 = 25
Radiance2: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34 Damage: 1d10 + 24 ⇒ (4) + 24 = 28
RadianceHaste: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39 Damage: 1d10 + 24 ⇒ (5) + 24 = 29

Smite, Haste 3/8rounds, Heroism all active.

If Nilus is counterattacked, he will burn a Mythic point to ignore 10HP of damage and give himself DR 1/Epic

Guardian's Call Ability Absorb Blow (Su)::
As an immediate action, whenever you take hit point damage from a single source (such as a dragon's breath, a spell, or a weapon), you can expend one use of mythic power to reduce the damage you take from that source by 5 per tier (to a minimum of 0 points of damage taken). If you have another ability or effect that reduces damage (such as protection from energy), reduce the damage with the absorb blow ability before applying any other damage-reducing effects. For every 10 points of damage that this ability prevents, for 1 minute you gain DR 1/epic and 5 points of resistance against acid, cold, electricity, fire, and sonic damage. The DR and resistances stack with any other DR and resistances that you have.

Sarkast's stomach finally stops churning. As he looks up, he sees the demon shaking Ayesha like a limp doll. "ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਮੌਤ , ਗਲਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ! ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਅੱਜ ਨਾਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਨਾ !"

Abyssal:
"Death to you, foul creature! You shall not slay a hero today!"[/b]

He charges in with speed fueled by holy power, attacking repeatedly.
Mythic point for Fleet Charge, single attack at +2 that bypasses DR and deals sneak attack due to movement. Then 5' step to get a flanking position and full attack with Haste.

Fleet charge, haste

Full attack, haste, two-weapon fighting, flanking

Iterative Attack, +1 returning dagger: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 Damage, cold iron: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Sneak Attack: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 2) = 8
Haste Attack, +1 returning dagger: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19 Damage, cold iron: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Sneak Attack: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 1) = 6

Wow, such hate from the RNG. I'll be lucky if any of those hit. If a sneak attack does hit, it is unable to make attacks of opportunity for 1 round. In addition, it is Bewildered (-2 AC, -4 vs Sarkast) for 1 round, which might help another attack to hit. For each additional sneak attack, extend duration by 1 round or until a new effect is applied.

.

Ayesha The first crit confirmed, the second crit did not. You're working with a 26 AC now with the sword of valor up.

Rushing, empowered, and ready to do great battle Nilus lays into the now-corporeal demon, Radiance rising up and down as he slashes into the mythical beast. Sarkast rushes in as well, establishing a flank. Unfortunately all of his attacks miss as he lays into the demon.

Round Five:

Eustoyriax (102 dmg)

Ayesha (68 damage) (disabled)
Dejik

Female Magus 12 | AC 26 T 16 F 21| HP 102| F +9 R +9 W +8 | Init +11 | Perc +18

I was just wondering, partly because he was taking the grapple penalty too, and partly because my ego wants to believe I did major damage before I died passed out from extreme blood loss.

Gaah! If that 25 had been one higher, then the AC penalty would have let the next attack hit. *shakes fist at RNG*

Wow. The RNG hate continues. That should have bought her one more round, as least.

Ayesha feels the world come back to her as healing energy flows through her body. Turning now to Nilus, and very much wishing to get past his blade, the demon steps in, leaping upon him. Claws and teeth dig in as the near-formless shadow attempts to consume the paladin.

Attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24 Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Nilus takes 30 damage and is grappled! Everyone is up!

A bit better. Once again, if a sneak attack hits, the demon is unable to make attacks of opportunity for 1 round. In addition, it is Bewildered (-2 AC, -4 vs Sarkast) for 1 round; for each additional sneak attack, extend duration by 1 round or until a new effect is applied.

I just realized the demon didn't move. Does the it have reach, or did it step into its own stinking cloud to attack Nilus? If neither, it would have had to move more than 5 feet, provoking AoOs and not able to full attack.

Ayesha awoke from the dark abyss of death's door to see their situation hadn't really improved much. She started to roll over, then saw Nilus gripped by the creature, being shaken like a rag doll, just as she herself had been. Ayesha caught Dejik's eye, and nodded, holding herself still until the woman's healing energy could bring her further from the brink of death, then exploded into action.

The magus sprung up from the ground, driving her scimitar straight into the creature's side.

My CMD with Smite active against the Demon is 28 and my AC is 26(27 with Haste). Also, I posted that I would use an Immediate action to use Guardian's Absorb Blow ability. That will ignore 10 points of damage from the attack that hit. So, Nilus shouldn't be grappled or have taken any damage. Unfortunately, that means Ayesha would take an AOO

Nilus steps away from the Demon and does his best to end it.

Radiance: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (14) + 22 = 36 Damage: 1d10 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23

Radiance Haste: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (10) + 22 = 32 Damage: 1d10 + 22 ⇒ (3) + 22 = 25

.

Thanks for the clarification Nilus, you're ungrappled then.

The group encircle the demon. Radiance slashes twice through the demon, brutally, as Darb N'ssiar cleaves straight through it. Finally Sarkast leaps straight through the demon, both daggers leading. He roll son his shoulder and comes up to his feet. The shadows dissipate behind him, and Eustoyriax is destroyed.

End of Combat

There is a moment of silence, and at that point you notice that it truly is silence; the whispers have ended. Drezen is yours.

As the battle ends, Sarkast realizes how deeply the voices had been affecting him. Seeing the demon destroyed and his companions all safe, he drops to his knees in exhaustion and thanks the gods.
