Ath64, remember to change your alias when posting in the gameplay thread.

Sorry. New to this. I don't have aliases on my other forums.

Shield Bash Podcast

To everyone who celebrates it (and kind of even to those that don't); HAPPY 4th of JULY!

I salute you from my desk Good GM! ;-)

Happy 4th.

Thanks. Now get back to work, slave!

I know the whole group is waiting for my action, just wanted to say I'm not absent. I'll try to post as soon as possible (Probably in 2-3 hours) so we can move forward (I hope to hit him in the face to finish him off)

Can someone place Harness on the square marked "B1"....

Reminder to some, perhaps new information to others....

I'm leaving in the morning for a week. I will have very limited access to the internet via my phone.

Don't hesitate to bot me if needed.

Shield Bash Podcast

Sorry that I've been a little lax on posting lately folks. RL was a bit exhausting this weekend.

Sorry I'm a bit low on posting those days, but I had an unexpected trip and work is hitting me hard those days. I'll try to post something as soon as possible.

Hope things settle down for you soon. This part is pretty "you" centered, so try to be prepared when it hits the fan.

Does anyone object if Snyk uses the owner-less the Robe of Bones?

Male Human

Not me. Go for it. :)

Liberty's Edge

Go for it

Would a fog-of-war over rooms we haven't discovered be beneficial to the game? We could place pictures over parts of the map and remove them when we approach.
Just an Idea. maybe a bad one.

This is actually a pretty good idea, and one that I can implement easily. I'll do so soon.

I have returned to the land of the internet. I am refreshed and hopefully rejuvenated...we shall see.

I have over 260 work e-mails to sort through today from my absence...but will be working on catching up on my games throughout the day today as well.

Good....Just in time to die.

Shield Bash Podcast

Just to be clear on a point: I know players don't like it when the DM gets onto them about alignment, but I still do it. Attacking unprovoked a creature that you don't know is a threat is very much a non-good action. And I know the two arguments that will be waged against me.
1) But it's a demon.
So what? It has lived here for hundreds of years. You don't know that it is evil, you only suspect. It could be here for the very reason that it isn't evil.

2) But it wouldn't answer our questions. That's provocation.
No. No it is not. Not anymore than barging into someone's house and not answering their questions.

I'm not calling these actions evil, because they're not. But I am asking you to all check your alignments because I know that at least some of you are good (or I'm mis-remembering entirely). And not to sound like a dictator DM, but I'm not going to take any whining about this. If you have something to say, you can put it in the discussion thread, but keep it logical. This got longer than I thought it would, so I'm going to move this part of the post to the discussion thread as well.

Liberty's Edge

I view alignment as a fluid, moving thing. There is much more to one's thoughts, motivations, desires, worldviews, etc. than can be summed up in the simple axis of an alignment. I don't think anyone PC or NPC is "good", "neutral" or "evil" on every single subject or thought- that may change wildly. I think alignment is a guide, but I'm happy to play it strictly if that's what you want. From Cavenn's perspective, he identified the creature as a demon after walking into an evil looking room (skulls surrounding a pool) and assumes the creature has something to do with the troubles in town (whether that is correct or not).

As far as charging and attacking unprovoked goes, that was an attempt to gain a tactical advantage from his perspective on what he assumes is an evil creature in an attempt to subdue it. He can act impulsive at times. I feel like that is pretty in character for him. Sometimes you don't wait for the other side to start shooting first. (Han shot first ;) )

I hope I am not coming across as whiny, just posting my thoughts on the subject. I'll change his actions from his last round.

Shield Bash Podcast

And I agree with most of those thoughts. I never run alignment as a "well, now you're evil" sort of thing. I do, however, keep track of when people act out if alignment and if it happens to often force them to change alignment. This only really matters if you have alignment restrictions due to a class or other such.

Male Human

Outing demons as evil can be a damaging experience - it should be something they want to do when they are ready - you have to wait until they are ready to come out of the quasit.

Wow...that...

Not sure if the GM should grant you bonus xp or take it away for that pun. :-P

slow. clap.

Shield Bash Podcast

.....GM now has the stunned condition....

Legit lol.

Jesus.

Shield Bash Podcast

Just as a heads up, we will be taking a one week break in late August. Least ways, I will be. August 25th through September 2, I won't be on much. Real life gets busy around that time and I want to be able to keep up properly. I'd like to finish this section before that point, so keep the posts coming.

Sorry guys, I had a few super busy days in a row and I couldn't post. I'll try to post today as soon as possible.

Sphen, by "you get the impression of sleep", you mean I get the impression the sword goes to sleep? Do I notice myself the light that flashed in my eyes? (I guess it went away in an instant)

Yes, that is the impression that I get. You no longer hear the voice whispering in your head.

And no, you didn't notice the light in your eyes.

Heads up I'm traveling and on mobile this week. My posts may be shorter but I'll try to stick to 1/day.

Shield Bash Podcast

Since the site was down for a good chunk of time recently, I'm not going to post today to give everyone a chance to catch up.

Shield Bash Podcast

So here is the heads up for next week. This week is the last one for me working a 5 pm to 1 am. Next week I start working from 4 am to 1230 pm. What does this mean to you? I'm going to be grumpy as $&!! next week as I reverse my sleep schedule. So I won't be posting as much (probably) and I may come off as rather pissy. I'm sorry. But I did want to give you guys a heads up if things seemed off next week as to why.

No problem!

Male Human

Gnaar! Boo! Hiss!

Ok. Fine. ;)

I suppose we'll allow it this time GM...

I apologize for my absence the last couple days. Work kicked my butt.

I would also like to apologize for my absence, but I have no good excuse.

Oh, it's understandable Saira...you were just too enthralled by my posterior to speak.

:-P

Stop this. For my sanity, stop this.

Certainly good sir.

oh hey the site is back.

It's aliiiiiive

I'm posting this to all Discussion threads of games I'm in - it'll take me a day or so to catch up!!!

Poke Poke...Poke

HEY IT WORKED!!!

I'm here. As with our mechanical friend, I'm slowly catching up on my games with the impromptu week long forced hiatus... /le sigh

Shield Bash Podcast

If I'd known they were planning this much down time, I wouldn't have also planned for a break next week. Fair warning, my wedding anniversary is still upcoming, so I may still be spotty the first half of next week.

Other than that, we left off with everyone standing in front of a closed door in a hallway; what's everyone next step?

Looks like the page dies over and over again, that might be a pain for the pbp games, including ours.

Male Human

Still standing alert....

I don't have any room to move right now and attack since tessa is right in front of the door, so I'll delay until I'm able to do something useful in the fight.

Shield Bash Podcast

Hey folks. Looks like the site is back up and should be for a bit. (Knock on wood) Also, I'm through the busy week of school starting and birthdays and anniversary. Let's get back into the game. I'll be taking the creatures turn this afternoon. Should have your turns done by then.

How long do we think the site will last this time?
